Incredible views and a knowledgable guide
My partner and I took part in an Only the Brave glacier hike and ice cave experience led by Matteo, and it was incredible! We’ve hiked in the UK but never anything requiring crampons so I was slightly apprehensive, and while not an easy walk the pace was absolutely manageable and everything was explained incredibly well. There was plenty of pauses throughout to explain what we were seeing on the glacier or to take photos. We felt super safe, and had the most amazing time. Matteo was knowledgeable beyond our expectations and the views were incredible, definitely a once in a lifetime experience we really enjoyed.

      A great experience
Great experience! Our snow scooter tour was canceled deu to the high temperatures. This quad tour was a perfect alternative. A 2 hours ride through a black “ moon landscape”, crossing small rivers and 2 Nice stops. 1 at the black beach and one at the DC-3 from the US army.

Brilliant Ice Cave and Glacier Tour
The tour was more than we hoped for, although demanding, it was manageable and gave us a unique experience. Our guide, Andrea Fiocca, was informative, friendly and warm, and made feel safe at all times. He was very experienced and knowledgeable, and also enthusiastic. It was clear he loves showing the glacier.

WOW! What an amazing experience - it exceeded my expectations. It was so beautiful and so special to get an up close view of the blue glaciers. Our tour guide Brooke was great. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and his experience in the terrain put me at ease and allowed me to better enjoy the experience.

      We peaked!!
This tour is something you must experience! Our Icelandic guide, Ágúst, was a wealth of knowledge about the landscape and the country at large. He was also simply a vibe, and if you want to know how much glaciers move per year (hint: not 7mm) while standing on top of them, you should take this tour. Do you know a water bear is? Do you know what it feels like to put your face into a glacier while your friend films you from below, all while you’re protected from falling into a glacier crevice like an idiot tourist by your experienced tour guide? I now know what those things feel like, and you can too. This excursion was enlightening both in what we saw and what we learned, making it the ideal travel day. Some might even say, we peaked. Thank you Ágúst!!

      Blue Ice experience
Great experience! Easy to do. After a 10 minutes drive with a 4x4 van, and a 15 minute walk it’s time to put on the spikes and you’re ready to enjoy the blue magic… Many thanks to our guide Robert!

      Great intro to ice climbing
Kaspar was great at taking us ice climbing on the glacier. The experience was a lot of fun and the setting is beautiful, even though a lot of the glacier was covered with snow.

"Iceland: Long distances, no delays, no tolerances, even when the booking system fails your tour"
In a recent visit to Iceland (August 26-September 9), We had booked on line the tour “Ice Cave and Glacier Walk: Only the Brave”, scheduled to depart from Skaftafell National Park, on August 29, 11 o´clock. As me and my wife spent the night before in Vik, we prepared to leave the next day around 8:30 a.m., as we definitively did, enough to reach the meeting point on time (according to Google). Just on the way to Skaftafell, as Google recalculate our arrival time, We immediately decided to call Icelandic staff for instructions,as we got afraid to get the destination pretty close to 11h00! On phone, however, a company associate clarified that no delays could be admitted or tolerated, unless other people on the same tour agreed to wait. Fair enough. He also alerted that we should had lost the tour anyway as it was booked for 9 a.m. in fact. We could join a Glacier Walking Tour instead, if we wanted it. This information was absolutely new for us. Afterwards, we preferred to email for reimbursement, but no positive answers came back. We also went to Skaftafell Park on the following days to discuss the issue in person, where another associate proposed to us, in the meanwhile, to rescheduled the tour to September 8, at 9 a.m., so we could get a little more time to decide. However, we later understood that it would be extremely hard to take all the way back from Reykjavik to Skaftafell at the new date, as we were traveling the country anticlockwise thru the Ring Road and our flight back home (Brazil) would be on September 9th. Nonetheless, we emailed for reimbursement, now considering the new tour schedule. Surprisingly, the Client Support denied our demand, arguing, basically: 1) that the reimbursement would be against the rules as the original booking should be consider for the purpose; 2) that my concern about the tour schedule and hours was mistaken according to companys system. We understand, prior to any delay or fault, that the issue was majority caused by a technical failure or malfunction of Icelandic booking system, as my ticket and correspondent invoice could proof right the opposite (specially my booking tour at 11!). But unfortunately Icelandic did not understand like that or even tried to deserve us a exceptional treatment, considering all the circunstances. All the issue was exposed to Icelandic by e-mail, the last one dated of November 24, 2023. No answer untill the present moment. Definitely I do not recomend this company.

      Best Guides!
So incredibly thankful for the amazing people at Icelandic Mountain Guides! We had originally booked a snowmobile excursion through a third party, but somehow lines were crossed and the excursion was canceled due to weather and we weren’t informed until we arrived at the location. Luckily the staff onsite said we could do an ATV tour instead and took us out to the plane wreak. Hinrik and Bjarki were amazing and we had so much fun out in the snow. They were patient, knowledgeable, and incredible guides. Amazing tour, incredible views, and overall great time!

One of the biggest highlights of the trip!
The highlight of my trip. We were scheduled to snowmobile but due to poor weather conditions it was cancelled. So they offered us the option of ATV’s and I’m so glad we did that instead. Bjarki and Hinrik were our tour guides and they were amazing. So nice and informative. We had a blast, they took us to see the plane wreckage. Gave us a lot of history on it and about Iceland and the glaciers too. This was our last day in Iceland and it was the perfect way to end our trip. I highly recommend this adventure and ask for Bjarki and Hinrik to guide you, you will not be disappointed!

      BEST TRIP EVER
I can only recommend this to everyone who wants to do tours that are more action-like instead of sitting in a bus all day. Also I cannot not mention our unforgettable guide Magni who took so great care of us! He was very funny, entertaining while making sure everyone is safe. Just exquisite ✨ I will remember this trip for the rest of my life.

Our tour with our fun, professional, knowledgable and funny guide Magni was absolutely incredible!! We are proficient with quad bikes so it was very very nice to go out on a tour with someone who would allow us to cut loose a little and have fun our way, all very safely though. this terrain is nothing to laugh at but I was amazed at how fun this ride was!

This was probably the highlight of our stay here in Iceland and me and my fiance enjoyed it very much. Our tour guide Maka(?) was very knowledgeable and witty which made the hike worthwhile. Seeing the glaciers and volcanic ash was breathtaking and I would recommend a hundred times to go do the Glacier Hike with Icelandic Mountain Guides.

Plus you get to have a make shift picture of you mountain climbing.

    Excellent tour.

We spent our last day of honeymoon glacier hiking on the south coast tour, our guide was Tamàs - he was very knowledgeable, calming and clearly passionate about his work. We felt completely safe with him and the weather was truly stunning on the day we visited, it was a fun introduction to glacier activities at beginner level. Perfect end to a fantastic vacation, we hope to visit again some day and experience more of the glaciers. Thank you for an experience we will always cherish, Mr & Mrs Doherty

Really amazing experience on the glacier! We were provided by all the equipment needed, as well as the information about the safety rules. Our guide Attila was really caring, fully present, providing many interesting information about the glaciers (touching also wider topics as environment, geology etc.), keeping the group interested - by communication, dialog, not only his own presentation of his knowledge.. His attitude was an extra value to this amazing trip and time spent on the glacier. Highly reccomended! :)

I was anxious at first because i had never done anything of the sort before, but that feeling disappeared after 10 minutes. Our guide, Javier, made us feel safe during the whole hike and we felt taken care of the whole time. He also explains a lot of things during the hike and takes as many breaks as you need, We had a great time and we’re both grateful we did it. Excellent option for a first time on a glacier.

Outstanding experience climbing a glacier. They outfit you with crampons, ice pick and helmet. Although it is a moderately strenuous activity, we felt comfortable and safe.
Our guide Josh was excellent. Very knowledgeable about not only this glacier but also the natural resources of the whole country. He was attentive to everyone in the group.
We would highly recommend this activity - and Josh - to anyone who wants a novel activity in a stunningly beautiful natural setting.

Our family of five did the private version of this tour, because we were traveling with our 85-year old father. Dad is extremely fit for his age, but still is an older man with some balance issues especially going down slopes. Our guide, Lucas, did a truly amazing job. Lucas was extremely patient with our dad and went well out of his way to ensure that dad could make the trip to the glacier. Lucas spent extra time cutting steps in the ice to help dad in some more challenging slopes, and there were long stretches where Lucas walked backwards, guiding dad with both hands to ensure he kept his balance. Lucas was always patient and never rushed dad. We were so impressed, and so grateful. My dad is so happy tonight and proud of having been able to visit the glacier - a real high point for him in his life.

The glacier itself was fantastic and an amazing experience for all of us.

Brilliant 3 hour hike on the glacier with an amazing guide! Our guide Hanka was very knowledgable and taught us a lot about the glacier and surrounding area. On a 3 hour hike we got to climb in an ice cave and saw some amazing ice structures. My partner and I had booked on a group tour but got given a personal tour. It was one the best things we did in Iceland and I would definitely recommend this hike.

Icelandic Mountaineering Guides did a fantastic job. They provided the needed equipment, but most importantly, had an amazing guide. Josh had the confident experience of thousands of hikes, yet retained that enthusiasm as if this was his first week!
He made the entire experience fun, enjoyable, educational, and entertaining. Without a doubt, this experience was definitely one of the top highlights of our time in Iceland.
    Thank you, Josh

We were traveling as a family (all adults) and have been dealing with the variability of the Icelandic winter weather (rain, snow, hail, sun, rain, repeat) but fortunately enjoyed pretty good weather during our glacier hike. But definitely be prepared with good boots, warm clothes, and prepared for unpredictable skies in February!
