About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- skydivetofino0 contributionsArctic adventures admin staffLili and Fede (Freddy) were awesome, however, I was originally booked for the scuba dive. It wasn’t till late afternoon the day before that I was notified via email that my dive was cancelled and too late to book with another operator,. This was the one and only tour I wanted to do here in Iceland and as my flight was two days later, I couldn’t re-book (flying after diving). There were a number of reasons for your poor rating and believe me if it wasn’t for Lili and Fede (Freddy), it would be much worse. There seemed to be some confusion from everything from dive underwear to the reason why the dive was cancelled in the first place? Anytime I enquired I was given the BS default answer of “ operational requirements “ or something of that nature. There was no suggestion of booking with another company or any attempt to do this for me. I spent 9000 kr on used underwear only to find that drysuit underwear was provided despite my prior inquiries. When I contacted the office to find out my options, there was no suggestion of doing the snorkel tour instead, I had to ask for it and luckily, there was one position remaining. The last straw for me was the agent on the phone has left it up to me to seek out my reimbursement online with a different company as I booked through Tripadvisor. Not sure when I’m going to see that refund, however, if it’s anything like the treatment I’ve received so far, I’m going to have to pursue that myself. Overall, wish I had originally booked with the competition, Dive.is. Much more professional. 😏Written October 9, 2024
- bethjB3327VB0 contributionsHighlight of our Icelandic vacationDefinitely a highlight of our Icelandic adventure. From the Husafell Activity Center, a bus transported us to the base of the Langjokull Glacier where we were fitted with waterproof boots inside a small building. I wasn't sure if I would need the boots since I had on hiking shoes that I had waterproofed, but I'm glad I used their boots. This time of year, there's a lot of water dripping and puddles inside the manmade tunnel, and the boots plus my waterproof jacket & pants kept me dry. Our excellent guide Omar made the ride up the glacier in the monster truck pass quickly. He was friendly, knowledgable, and FUNNY! We learned about Langjokull, about glaciers in general, how the tunnel was built, and many tidbits about Icelandic history and life. Well worth the cost!Written October 8, 2024
- Storyteller2362520 contributionsAmazing landscapes , best guideExcellent guide Rebecca - one of the best and professional I ever met , wonderful views and also we succeded with the weather. - D1534MKkeithw0 contributionsA great shorter day trip with fantastic sights and a good guide.A great shorter tour that provides a great view of the landscapes and locations in the area. We booked this tour on our final day in Iceland. We had been on a Northern lights tour the night before we were unable to do any of the other day tours as most are all day and have pickup at 8am, so this tour starting at 12 was perfect. We were picked up from our nearest bus stop within 15 minutes of the starting time and enjoyed a journey on a small, comfortable bus which took us around four sites along the golden circle. Our guide was great, extremely knowledgeable and quite funny at times. at each stop we were given around 30-40 minutes to walk around and take in the sights and scenery. Thingvellir National Park had stunning views and our guide's explanation and narration of the surrounding area as we drove were brilliant. Gullfoss Waterfall was amazing and the largest we'd seen on our trip to Iceland. In all it took exactly six hours, dropping us back at our stop at 6pm with time left to enjoy the evening. Great guide and a worthwhile excursion for those wanting something after a night out or a shorter day trip.Written October 7, 2024
- simonepS983EO0 contributionsfantastic arctic adventuresI had a wonderful experience of 4 days of tour around the Golden Circle and the south coast of Iceland. This is my first time ever in Iceland but I think without a doubt that I chose the best tour operator, I want to thank the guides for their preparation, organization and sympathy. I recommend you to my friends and if I come back I will choose Artic Adventures again.Written October 6, 2024
- RobAndKathy0 contributionsAmazing Adventure! What an amazing trip! The 17 person group was just the right size for our adventure. Bjorn was an excellent guide! While I had a slight medical issue toward the end of the tour, he was sure to make sure I was well taken care of. He is an Icelandic native and gave us a flavor of the culture while showing us the sights. We saw so much more than if I had tried to plan the itinerary on my own. The glacier hike and the visit to the horse farm were my favorite activities. The food was incredible! I highly recommend Iceland as a destination, and Arctic Adventures for the tour.Written October 5, 2024
- 347cyrust0 contributionsCyrusOur guide Christopher aka Krzysztof was amazing. He took us to secret attractions and brought us a lot of fun throughout the tour. He was very helpful and friendly. This trip won’t be the same without him.Written October 5, 2024
- pilargo130 contributionsA unique experience, amazing views, wonderful snorkeling guides!Unique snorkeling experience! Definitely recommended for those who are looking for a memorable experience while in Iceland. Arctic Adventures took really good care of us. Specially our tour guides Francesca and Dominika. They made sure we were ready and enjoy the 30-40 minutes adventure under freezing waters. All the preparation was worth and we really enjoyed it. This is a unique opportunity to snorkel in very cold water and in between tectoniques plates. Definitely a must-do when visiting Iceland.Written October 4, 2024
- acr3560 contributionsHelge was a great tour guide!Helge was the best tour guide! It was great to have a native tour guide! Helge was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and the glacier. He was also a pleasure to be around and never stopped smiling. Great tour with an awesome guide!Written October 4, 2024
- ThT7640 contributionsNot worth the moneyThe tour was too short and rushed. Although we visited some amazing places and witnessed spectacular scenery, the time allocated to each place is limited and you cannot really enjoy it. You have to run to see things. Moreover, we arrived back almost two hours earlier than we were initially informed. The price is just too high for what you get. I wouldn't recommend it. I would just rent a car instead.Written October 4, 2024
- 81kailac0 contributionsExperience of a LifetimeThe Silfra Fissure snorkeling tour was amazing! Our guide, Nikolas, was so enthusiastic and was very knowledgeable about the area. He made sure to keep the tour interesting and his excitement made the tour that much better! The views are amazing and this was such a cool experience. If you’re on the fence, DO IT!! One of the best experiences of our trip and something you can really only experience in Iceland.Written October 4, 2024

- misut19610 contributionsLifetime experience for sureWhat a great time my son and I had yesterday at skaftafell on the glacier! Our day started with a wonderful staff where we got our gear ,and shoe rentals. Then we were driven to meet our awesome guide Eric for our once in a lifetime experience. Great institution, science, and history given to us by Eric made the experience wonderful. We went into small cave then onto the glacier where we spent over an hour discovering, enjoying, and being enlightened. I can’t recommend this crew , company, experience anymore as it was mind blowing! Thank you all for a great day that will never be forgotten.Written October 3, 2024

Waist of money I am afraid. Do not pay in advance, you will possibly not get refunded or even worse not even able to rebook another time if something urgent comes up, like a possible COVID infection. Me and my husband booked with a group of friends and had to cancel our trip with a short notice because of quarantine also with short notice. Very disappointed. In stead of understanding the situation and offering to come later with the option of us selling others to come with us they did nothing. Total silence. So I cannot advice anyone I know to do business with Arctic Adventures. Very bad service. I strongly advice you to look for others offering the same trip. This actually encouraging people to brake quarantine and the law and go on the trip. We also had a hotel reservation which was postponed and met with understanding and good service. So word of advice to travel businesses, in the COVID situation you have to be flexible and think in solutions and be prepared. You might sell more trips in the end even though you loose this one.

We had a really great time on the glacier and our guide was fantastic! I can’t remember his name but he had bleach blonde surfer hair and was from Slovakia. He was so sweet to my mom and made sure everyone had all of their gear and that everything was on correctly. He kept everyone safe on our hike and also did a great job of answering questions, talking about the features of the glacier, and generally just being a fun and amicable guide. I would definitely recommend this hike and I would also recommend checking out the larger glacier 2+ hours away. It is good to note, however, that because of the last volcanic eruption this glacier is covered in ash in many places. I thought it was very interesting to learn about but it is not the pristine white glacier many people think of.

After spending a week along the southern coast looking at glaciers and lagoons, we decided to walk on one. The experience was better than expected and definitely a highlight of our ten-day visit to this amazing country. Our guide, Vallerio, imprrssed upon us the dangers of navigating the glaciers and also the rewards of having a safe guide bring you to areas that are otherwise unreachable. As an experienced hiker and skiier, I was alarmed by the crowds that descended upon this glacier for photos ops. The area is not safe and these tourists had no idea about the risks that they were taking - don’t walk under melting arches!!!! Vallerio gave us the confidence to explore this dangerous area while appreciating its magesty and quickly changing terrain.

Our family planned to celebrate my daughter's graduation by going to Iceland, a dream that my daughter has had for a long time. We booked and paid in full several months in advance. Then Covid came. I called to postpone our trip but there was no answer. I tried to cancel on their website but was unable to. We were so disappointed to have to postpone our trip but it was the responsible thing to do. Finally I got a response via email on how to cancel/postpone our trip but they charged us 50% cancellation fee because it was within 30 days of travel, even though it would have been 30 days if their website was functional. They had no compassion due to Covid, etc. I was willing to accept the 10% cancellation fee, even though due to the circumstance I believe that should have been waived. It is their policy they said. It is also their policy to take 6 to 8 weeks to refund our money that they had already had for several months. At 8 weeks we had still not received a refund. It took 5 months to receive a refund after fighting with them via a credit card dispute. Their excuse why it took so long was Covid - funny how it was unreasonable for me to be A DAY late cancelling allowing them to keep thousands of dollars but it was okay for them to take MONTHS to refund me HALF what I paid. I cant wait to travel to Iceland when it is feasable but will not be doing business with this company ever again and I highly recommend you don't do business with them either.

I did this tour in February 2019. There were two different guides so they splitted our group in two.
One of the guides, Maria, seemed like an amazing person from the start so some of us were already wanting to go with her, and we were not disappointed.
This tour was so amazing, seeing the effects of climate change and how far the glacier has melted felt dramatic, we saw some beautiful landscapes, learned a lot about the surroundings and the way nature works.
But Maria really was one of the highlights of this tour, she has an incredibly positive energy that will put your whole group in the best of moods.
I would recommend Arctic adventures as I did 4 tours with them and never had a single problem, all the guides are very knowledgeable, come pick you up with very positive mood, are always happy to answer questions and give comments about what you are seeing from the bus.
I think our driver this day was Thomas ! Very knowledgeable man, he tried to tell us as much as he could about the places we saw.

Nothing beats the view of an entire glacier right in front of you. Pure , best kind of blue you LL see I swear. The hike up till the glacier was Worth every penny and our guide Vjeran made it one of our best experience in Iceland. Such a wonderful humble fun loving guide. Loved the way he explained everything, managed the group and made the entire experience smooth and fun. Do give this hike and guide your time when in Iceland. Thank you Vjeran for an awesome time.

Oh wow, what a wonderful tour company. Our driver was Vjeran. He was not only very informative he was also funny and entertaining during the drive. He made the long drive to the glacier good fun. Vjeran was so attentive, insisting that he would take your pictures as he knew the best spots for you to stand to get the perfect picture. We then went on a 4.5hr glacial hike with another wonderful guide Pawel. That was hard work but fabulous. A trip of a lifetime! As promised Vjeran was there to meet us when we came down completely exhausted. We were never rushed throughout this tour and we were always made to feel like part of Vjeran's team- not customers but friends. I cannot recommend this company highly enough and if you do choose this tour make sure you get Vjeran. In the picture Vjeran is in the blue coat standing next to me and in the other picture is our guide Pawel our glacier guide.

My friend and I had a fantastic glacier walk with Linda. She was so kind and patient, but especially she was engaging and adaptable. She took us wherever our group was willing to go, keeping our safety as her priority the whole way. Her love for the outdoors and affection for Solheimajokull really shined. It didn't hurt that the sun came out for us! Not only did we get to experience an incredible bit of Icelandic nature, we were privileged to meet such an amazing guide as well! If you are looking to have an adventure out on a glacier, I highly recommend Arctic Adventures.

While visiting Iceland we decided to try out the Sólheimajökull Glacier Hike (Glacier Experience), and let me tell you, it was worth it! Even my kids (ages in the range 17 to 22) enjoyed hiking, and it was definitely worth the money. Our tour guide, Vjeran, was one of the best we’ve ever had as he kept us in safe hands. He was very experienced and patient with us and knew the best spots for photos! This was an amazing life experience and the breathtaking views from the top of the glacier was worth all our hard work.

Our Guide, Oli, picked us up on time and the Office were helpful when I needed to check some details and smoothly resolved the issue with no inconvenience. The snowmobiling was great fun, anyone with a driving licence could have a try driving and the guides made sure that problems other guests were having didn't impact our enjoyment. As we were the only people getting picked up and taken back to Reykjavík Oli chatted to us about lots of the sights we were passing en route, checked where we were travelling to on our trip and talked us through what to see, told us stories and even gave us a fantastic restaurant recommendation for Akureyri! I have to say the team were very patient with all the guests, and were professional and reassuring too, while making sure the more confident drivers enjoyed the experience to the full.

Hi, my name is Federico from Italy. I am looking to leave alone and come to Iceland from 29 October to 7 November. I would like to take a glacier tour. I would probably come to your site on October 30th or 31st. Is it possible to join a group of people I do not know? If you did not reach the minimum number for the activity what would happen?

What is a good way to get there from the city? Is there a way to get there and also get to stop at the black beach and famous waterfall that many tours (which do not do the glacier hike) include?
