Learn How To Summon A Ghost!
This was a fun tour! Easy walking and great stories of the past. I now know how to summon a ghost! I also now know about the big stones around Iceland :) I definitely recommend this tour.

A Solo Traveler’s Dream: Food, Culture, and Laughter in Reykjavik!
As a solo traveler, I couldn’t have asked for a better way to experience the heart of Reykjavik than the Reykjavik Food Lovers Tour! Our guide, Magnus, was fantastic—his easygoing nature immediately put me at ease, and his unique sense of humor and wealth of knowledge made the experience both fun and engaging. The tour was so well organized, offering a perfect blend of traditional Icelandic dishes and fascinating stories about the city’s and country’s history. It felt like a personal introduction to Reykjavik, with each stop showcasing something special. This tour is a must for anyone looking to connect with the culture and flavors of Iceland. Highly recommended, especially if you’re exploring the city on your own!

    Would reconsider in warmer weather.
To be clear, the tour guide was a phenomenal story teller and is the only reason this tour received a 3 star. I thought the tour would be more local to the downtown in the city, showing more of the sights... even the catholic church we walked near we didn't have a opportunity to see the front if it... the weather was brutal and made listening very difficult.

    Above and beyond great
Einar took us on an incredibly fun tour telling us about the local history and topped it all off with how to create necropants - which I might make.. we’ll see. Einar was just the nicest tour guide we’ve ever had. He also sent us a bunch of links and info AFTER the tour that we asked about while on it without our asking. That was so awesome and above and beyond what we expected. I think I also need to mention, the night of our tour had rainy and cold weather, there were just two of us and it was not cancelled. Other tours, in an ‘off’ season with inclement weather, may have. That says so much for us and we were very grateful. Again, such a great time. I cannot recommend this enough. I’d give Einar 6 stars if I could.

    Interesting and engaging
We really enjoyed the folklore tour with Einer on a Friday afternoon. The stories and legends he told us were very interesting and we loved the Icelandic songs. Einer was very friendly and engaging and made the tour even more interesting!

The Folklore Tour is a Fun Stroll Around Reykjavik
Our group took the Folklore Walking Tour November 20, 2024. Construction around the meeting point forced a location change. The tour organizers handled it smoothly by sending out early notice and following up with a reminder that included Google Maps guidance. Our terrific guide, Einar, gathered us at the meeting point and clearly mapped out our tour. Einar clearly enjoys his work as he injected his story telling and historical fact checking with humor and dramatic expression. He made what could be dry story telling quite enjoyable. It was especially nice to see how personal the tour was for him as we walked past his family home and visited the cemetery where some of his family lay. That added a human touch not seen on most tours. Ask for Einar if you want to see Icelandic folklore come alive with drama and humor. Plus, you will learn how to raise your own zombie servant.

You really feel the spirit of storytelling in Iceland on this tour
Einar was the nicest guy we met in our entire trip. He has so much depth. His passion for sharing and passing on his cultural heritage was very special, and he ends the tour on such a heartwarming note that is much appreciated. He gives you the most important gift which is our common humanity despite being worlds away.

A tour from a guide with a big heart
What a lovely host Einar was, he poured his heart into our tour as he told us about the food he grew up with, showed us around, and sang his grandma’s songs to us. He’s passionate and truly felt like meeting a friend yesterday.

Creepy and Interesting, A Good Mix
Easily one of the best ghost tours I have been on. So this is not strictly a ghost tour as the name suggests but the mixing of folklore and ghost stuff works really well. It is both fascinating and scary at different times and it helps to keep it interesting by flipping between the two.

    Superb walking tour!
A fantastic 1.5 hour walk around part of central Reyjavik with Einar Steinn Valgarðsson, who entertained us with brilliant stories about legends, trolls, elves, and ghosts. Fun, funny, and fascinating. Highly recommended!

As huge cat lovers, we saw this tour online before our trip and thought we had to book! Our tour guide, a lovely lady called Inga, met us at the agreed meeting place and there was just four of us on the tour. We had a brilliant afternoon - Inga took us to lots of different places around the city during the walk and shared loads of great information and stories.
We also managed to spot some of the famous cats of Reykjavik on the tour, and made a stop at the small cat cafe in town. A free hot drink is included with the proce you pay for the tour. The tour lasted just over two hours in all. I would thoroughly recommend this tour if you are a cat fan and also want a more intimate tourist experience during the first few days of your visit.

This was such a fun tour and was a wonderful way to start off our vacation in Iceland! And was the perfect thing to do on to help battle jetlag after just landing that morning. Inge was a great guide!!! We walked around the city and learned about the famous Reykjavik cats (and managed to meet a few on the street and in some of the shops) and learned about some of the Nordic cat stories. We spent some time at Kattakaffihusid, the cat cafe. We ended up going back several more times when we were in Reykjavik at the end of our trip. My boys (18 and 15) LOVED this tour and I highly recommend it for anyone who loves cats 🐱 🐈‍⬛!

My husband and I did the cat walking tour on January 14, 2024. Our guide was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot about Icelandic folklore and explored a lot of the city. We were able to see many of the local cats of downtown Reykjavik, Ofelia being our favorite ❤️ we highly recommend taking this tour if you want to learn about Iceland and you love cats 🐱

I went on this tour which is centered around the famous cats of Reykjavik, and it was such a fun way to explore the city! Our tour guide Barði was very enthusiastic and at the end of the tour, he even showed us his own cats! A true cat lover. The stop at the Cat cafe was also super nice and a welcome break in the walking tour. The length of the tour was also just perfect. Highly recommend!

Addy was an incredible tour guide, not only telling us the story of cats in Reykjavik but going into both distant and recent history. She was willing to go slowly to accommodate me and I never felt like that was an issue. I would highly, highly recommend this tour in general and even more so if Addy is leading it!!

This private tour was combined with the Folklore Tour. Einar led us on a very good tour introducing us to the cats of Reykjavik and the folklore of the city/country. He tells his stories with great flare and even sang to us as part of his tour. He has a beautiful voice. The tour had only one thing lacking to make it perfection. The weather was very windy, rainy, and chilly, but I think not unexpected in Iceland. Do this tour with Einar if you can! You will learn a great deal about Iceland and will feel that you understand the country so much better.

I LOVED this tour! So much fun to learn about The Cats of Reykjavik. Bardi our tour guide was brilliant - very knowledgeable and personable. Not only did we learn about and see the cats - which was fantastic, Bardi also added in some Reykjavik history as we toured the city.
We had hot chocolate and pastries at the lovely cat cafe and got to see and pet the city cats and learn their stories! The cats have Instagram accounts, which I am now following!!
It was a really lovely tour - I could have spent the entire day with Bardi!! You won’t be disappointed. It was purrrrrrrfect!!! =^..^=

Our tour guide, Bardir, was obviously a cat lover and very knowledgeable about where cats might be found. We went into stores where there were cats, saw street murals of cats, and ended at the cat cafe. One of the great things about these tours is that you find out about local businesses-and afterwards you can go back to them. I might not have gone into Cafe Babalu, except that we went there looking for a cat. I went back the next day and had a very nice lunch. And the cat was there!

This walk to meet the shop cats of downtown Reykjavik was a perfect way to start an Iceland vacation and get to know its capital city! Reykjavik's cats lead quite the independent life style, some of them tending more than one shop, so while you may not find all of them, you'll certainly meet a few while taking an informative walking tour (you'll learn more than just about the cats) of this lovely city. Our guide also did food tours for the company, so we left the tour with a great list of restaurants to try.

This is a must if you are a cat person! There is a ton of street art in Reykjavik, some of it devoted to their famous cats. Stefan, our guide, was very knowledgeable about the cats in the area & their haunts, we met several beautiful cats & made a stop at the local cat cafe. We weren't able to find one of the most famous cats, Baktus, but my husband & I went back the the stores where he hangs out twice & found him there the second time. Again, if you are cat people like we are (we have 4), this is a must do. It was fun just to meet other cat people & share stories about our feline family.
