The extra stops, bonus experiences and cool details and stories added in by our guide made the trip so special and valuable. What’s more, I was with a great mix of age groups and nationalities which was a lot of fun :) The accommodations are mostly great, with few exceptions, and included breakfasts are well catered. Northern lights, glacier hikes, ice caving, lava fields, waterfalls for days and incomparable scenery like only Iceland can deliver. Wow, what a great experience! We had low expectations due to the weather and an unfavorable aurora forecast, but what a fabulous night it was.
Our guide, "Hawk" spotted the lights while picking up passengers at the bus stops and rushed to go park in a dark area and let us out to see them. When the light activity quieted down, he took us to another spot which was even better.
I highly recommend this tour!

We knew that seeing the northern lights was going to be uncertain because of clouds and weather and I won’t dock our guide for not seeing them - he really tried hard to find a spot that we could see them. We had a few things about the tour that we weren’t real happy about: first of all, he drove like a maniac - he was following another van VERY closely and just whipped us around roundabouts and over speed bumps at high speeds. And secondly, he didn’t do anything to make the experience personal or really share any information. There were 3 young women on the tour and I heard them whispering to each other, “what exactly are the northern lights?”. We had enough driving to get to places where we felt that should have been discussed. There was no opportunity to bond the group and make things fun. The group seemed fun and we were all excited and by the end, we just wanted to get back and be dropped off. I don’t remember our guide really ever telling us his name - he could have easily asked people where they are from and tried to get conversation started. It was very impersonal and not real fun. Again, he tried really hard to find the lights for us but that’s about the extent of the tour.

So this one is a little tricky because you can’t predict the weather, the northern lights, etc., but I think they probably should’ve cancelled our tour due to clouds and wind. Our guide was very nice, but not a ton of information about what was going on, it was unclear if we were able to get out to check out the skies so it really just felt like a lot of driving around in the dark. When we did stop, the winds were so intense it was hard to stay outside for more than a few minutes and the skies were very very cloudy, which again no one’s fault.
In general, I think these northern lights tours no matter who offers them are super hit or miss so I would purchase with caution.

the company canceled on us two nights in a row. We understood since they said the viewing was not good(even though we met people who did see it that night} but the worst part is they charged us a cancelation fee. And refuse to reimburse even though we did not do the caneling.

We did the Northern Lights Tour 01/ 28.
I have to give it up for the guide that night. We were out searching for the lights for maybe 2+ hours and finally were able to see them around 12-1AM. We had a storm that could've ruined the experience first half but he kept trying until the end! There were some dissapointed vocal members on the bus, but he kept his spirits high, sharing insights into the weather and Iceland in general.
When we saw the lights he took some beautiful photos of each person/group and the hot chocolate in the end was WORTH IT! It was very cold. Haukur

The description of the tour is not accurate. We were taken to the empty parking lot full of flood lights. When passengers requested to be taken somwhere that wasn't full of artificial lights, they claimed this was the best spot but not a single other tour bus was there. It also was not "safer" which was the other reason they claimed to bring us there as it was just as icy and snowy as anywhere else. They should update their description to say they will drive you an hour to a brightly lit empty parking lot. We could have just walked around downtown Reykjavik and had a nicer experience.

Wonderful Northern Lights trip with expert Northern Lights seeker and photographer. He is a local Icelander with a real passion for helping people see the Northern Lights and capture it well on our phones. Even though it was relatively low activity if the lights, we had some beautiful views and photos. Highly recommend!

The tour is really recommended, even if we were losing hope to see the northern lights, the guide was able to keep high our moral.
In the end we were able to see the northern lights!
In addition our guide explained to all of us a lot of stuff about Iceland (not only related to the northern lights), and he was always available to answer to all our questions.

Egil was a fantastic guide. He took us to a quiet spot where it was just us. We had already seen the lights from the road, but the real show began once we arrived at our destination. What a spectacular light show! We remained in the first spot for almost an hour, giving everyone ample opportunity to take pictues. Egil generously offered to use his phone and tripod to take personal pictures of us. Although they didn't turn out quite as well as the ones I captured on my own device, I'm certain those without equivalent equipment appreciated the gesture. Before making our booking, we had checked the solar activity and cloud coverage forecasts for the day. That really paid off.

The tour company is good but this specific tour is a trap. 80 dollars to drive you less than an hour out of the city and back. There's no added value here, just drive your rental to thingvellir parking lot and that's it that's the tour. Charging that much for it is outrageous.
