About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- kcohick0 contributionsFun introduction to ReykjavikTook my kids to Reykjavik for spring break this year and booked the Walk with a Viking tour as an overview of the city when we first arrived. It was cold and windy, but our guide was fantastic. As he told us: if you don’t like the weather here, wait five minutes! The tour was engaging for me and for my kids (12 & 14). We learned a lot about the history of the city, got a good idea of where everything was located, and got some good tips on other places to visit while there. We would highly recommend!Written March 18, 2025
- Paul T0 contributionsStunning sceneryWe used this service twice, there and back. It gave us the opportunity to see more, and learn more with experienced drivers and their knowledge.Written March 16, 2025
- Iliyan K0 contributionsBeersIts was nice, we had 9 beers. We were told the history of Iceland. We went to a nice bars, he told us which clubs we could hit.Written March 15, 2025
- AtlantaK20150 contributionsCaught with cancelled flight and no refund on walking tourWe were caught in the Delta crowdstrike mess. I cancelled as soon as I realized we would be stuck in our connection city and would not arrive in time for the tour. It was less than 24 hours and we were denied our request for our money back. Not sure who decided that…TripAdvisor or the tour guide. But totally not our fault and I informed TripAdvisor as soon as I could. Very disappointingWritten March 13, 2025
- _cowieeleanor0 contributionsSweet treatsGreat sweet tour! my daughter and I liked all the sweet treats. We also learned a lot about iceland and seen a lot of shops and restaurants that we would not have seen by ourselves. Thank youWritten March 12, 2025
- carolinmaui0 contributionsGreat Tour. Great Guide.Einor was a true Viking storyteller, giving us colorful tales of the history, culture and people of Reykjavik. The two hour walk at 10AM on the morning of our 6AM arrival was the perfect way to start our Iceland adventure. Reykjavik is an easily walkable town but we would have missed a lot if we hadn’t taken this introductory tour. And Einor followed up with sending photos of all the places we stopped as well as books and music he referenced. Great tour. Great guide,Written March 10, 2025
- donaldc5640 contributionsAn interesting and dark tour of Reykjavik. This is a very good tour of Reykjavik spiced up with dark tales of elves, trolls and hidden Icelanders. You even get taught how to set up a spell.Written March 5, 2025
- donaldc5640 contributionsA very good Viking tour. Our tour guide gave us a very good tour that including the Viking history of Iceland. He also told us about Norwegian and Danish aspects of the Iceland history and sites in Reykjavik.Written March 5, 2025
- G7847SSalyssab0 contributionsA short, fun, and quirky tour with a look into local legend!Booked this tour somewhat last minute with a friend of mine as we had some extra time on one of our last days in Reykjavik. The tour guide was jovial and personable making the tour one to remember. On top of the interesting local stories he went above and beyond singing us a nursery rhyme and giving us a taste of the old Icelandic language. If you are hoping to learn historical fact and gain a deeper understanding of the legacy of the capital, this isn't the tour you are looking for, but if you like ghost stories, local culture and a quirky experience that will surely stand out from the rest, this is the tour for you!!! Also, it should be noted this may not be a good choice for young children. On our tour topics of death, bloody rituals and overall darker stories were prevalent which some may not want told in front of their kids. The name of the tour seems quite whimsical but like many traditional myths and legends, there is often a darker origin.Written March 4, 2025
- U8621KYcathyk0 contributionsDelicious & Informative Food Tour – Highly Recommended!Fun and enlightening food tour. Engaging host/guide, shared a lot of interesting facts about the city and the locations as we walked along. 10/10 recommend.Written March 4, 2025
- Roam5423940 contributionsMagical and Meaningful.I did two tours with them and I love them both, the guides were very knowledgeble and friendly, it was great to explore the city in this different and relaxed way, I really feel I was able to truly get to know iceland and the people in a special meaningful way. I highly recommend both the Folklore and Cat tours. The Floklore tour in particular was truly unique, with our guide being like an actor, telling us stories in a way that really immersed me in the culture and made me understand how icelandic people are as they are. It was both funny and scary :)Written March 3, 2025

- M9355VQmarthab0 contributionsGreat to work with and wonderful guide!Kevin was great to work with when setting up the adapted private tour for our group of 17. We were able to combine the Folklore and Food Tours for a lovely afternoon getting to know Reykjavik. Oli was a great tour guide, incredibly knowledgable and delightful to talk to. We really enjoyed getting to know him and hearing about a variety of experiences and his folklore knowledge.Written February 25, 2025
- DCVacationers03050 contributionsA Great Tour! This is an excellent tour! Our guide, Stefan, walked us around the city for 2 hours and gave us a really great view into the history of the city and the culture of the Icelandic people. We learned a lot, laughed a lot, and even got to enjoy a special treat at the end of the tour. Highly recommend this company and this tour to anyone looking for a good introduction; plus Stefan gave great recommendations about how to spend the rest of our time in the city.Written February 24, 2025

We had just arrived in Reykjavik and decided to do a couple tours of the city to acclimate ourselves. We did the Christmas Tour with them, as well as the Walking Tour. Both tours were fun and educational. Highly Recommend.
My only suggestion to the tour operator would be to be able to contact them via text prior to the tour in case we can't find the guide. We couldn't find him for the Walking Tour (he wasn't exactly where they said to meet) so had to go searching for him.

Our tour guide was absolutely wonderful. She explained Christmas traditions, Icelandic culture and history. We stopped by a beautiful Christmas shop and lovely local coffee shop. I’m confident all of these tours provided by this company are done well.

We had just arrived the day before and thought it would be good to do this tour. Firstly the place to meet was complicated. And the guide was not at the place when we arrived, secondly we did not visit any Christmas markets, thirdly she took us to a perfume shop which was not relevant. Overall we felt she had not much to share for a walking tour related to Christmas and it was a waste of time. She didn’t structure it well. And if Christmas markets are closed then hold it on days when they’re open.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience with our Christmas Walking Tour. I admit this was our first time running it as a regular tour and it sounds like we need to adjust our text describing the tour, especially about the Christmas Markets. Would love to get more info to work with so we can make this experience better.
My email is valur@yourfriendinreykjavik.com and I would greatly appreciate if you could get in touch pleas.
