      An Experience Worth the Money
We saw almost everything Iceland has to offer: The Northern Lights, Geysers, Waterfalls, Glaciers, Dormant Volcanoes, Interesting Rock Formations, Fjords, Geothermal Vents, Natural Parks, Black Sand Coastlines, and Museums. Accommodations were mainly based at quaint inns in rural areas; all offered delicious dinners and breakfast buffets. Andre, our guide, provided a wealth of knowledge about the country. One bit of advice - bring sturdy shoes for short to medium length hikes plus rain gear.

      Adventure in Iceland
First of all, Funtravel.is was a fantastic company to work with! Jens gave us thorough information and was quick to respond to any of our questions! The trip was more than we could have imagined………informative guide who met all of our needs, delicious meals of lamb and fish, some activity each day with a walk to a waterfall, or over a lava flow, a black sand beach or a glacier! Such varied and interesting scenery all along the tour! Thank you for sharing your country with us!

A Once in a Lifetime Trip to Iceland
My husband and I had the opportunity to join some long time friends on the 10 day Iceland Complete tour. It truly was an amazing experience. Jens is very knowledgeable and passionate about sharing the beauty and uniqueness of Iceland. He not only navigated some "interesting" roads, but also made sure to take us off the beaten path to see beautiful waterfalls, a beach with icebergs on it, bubbling mud pots, a lava field that is still warm in places, lush greenery, a black waterfall, and a "windy" volcanic crater. We were also treated to folklore stories that made the scenery even more memorable. We stayed in some very cozy farmhouses and enjoyed delicious meals. All in all, it was the trip of a lifetime and I have already recommended it to friends and family.

      Incomparable Iceland
What an experience! Jens designed a comprehensive tour that covered every topographical element that Iceland has to offer. From the broad variety of waterfalls to the enormous glaciers; from the glacier lagoon to the mountains - with one night's stay on the highest point of Iceland; from the black sand (lava sand) beaches with their basalt columns to the Icelandic horses and the Arctic foxes; from hiking around the bubbling mud pits and volcanoes to the beautiful botanical gardens and green house flowers; from the pure, delectable cuisine to museums and galleries, Jens created a magical tour. Thank you from Bettina and Benjamin

This tour is the opportunity to see so much in 10 days. It is designed to show all the highlights with plenty of picture stops. At the end of day the accommodation was great.

      Friends' Land Tour of Iceland
Jens (pronounced "yens") and I have been communicating for over 2 years now and with the travel restrictions easing, we were able to put a custom trip together. Our group of 11 friends were anxious to meet Jens and see what Iceland had to offer. Well, we were all so very surprised at the beautifully rugged landscape, dramatic waterfalls, geothermal areas and the most interesting people of Iceland. The van was very comfortable and our guesthouse stays were warm and cozy. The entire tour was awesome!

Iceland by Fun Travel and Jens
We had to do a shortened version of the 10 day Icelandic Tour, so Jens gave us an adventure of a lifetime tour packed into a seven day road trip. The scenery was amazing and Jens was full of both historic information and fun facts about each place we stopped and we stopped a lot. The guesthouses we ate and slept at were also very nice. There were two stops where you would have thought you were eating at 5 Star restaurant $$$$. And if you like waterfalls you are going to love this trip.

a great 10 day icelandic tor to do
if you are contemplating doing a self drive tour and you are an old fart like me, don't do it! iceland is much bigger than you can imagine, so many sights to see, often narrow windy roads and unmade. there are masses of tourists and buses and cars all over and you would be hard pressed to really enjoy your trip getting from place to place if you drove. go with jens at fun travel instead! a decision you will never regret. jens knows iceland like the back of his hand. we saw so many wonderous sights. one of jen's virtues is that he is totally organised which is essential to fit in everything. we stayed, overall, in extremely good accommodation and every place was extremely clean. very good breakfasts were included as well as excellent dinners. jens makes sure that there are plenty of toilet stops and lunch breaks. of course, lots of walking is involved, often over difficult terrain so this would be an issue if you have mobility issues. jens is a small owner operator. his tour is highly recommended. thanks jens for a great time.

      10 day Tour of Iceland
This tour, with Jens as our tour guide, was absolutely a trip of a lifetime. He took us "off-roading" in the van, to allow us to see and experience some of the most beautiful geological features Iceland has to offer. The weather was very nice during our trip, with the exception of one day. Rain nor wind keep any activities Jens had planned from happening. There was a bit more hiking than our group anticipated, but we all managed just fine. Walking sticks might have been a nice item to have on some excursions. The accommodations and delicious pre-planned meals were very enjoyable after a long travel day. Our small group made the trip even more fun, nice to get to know the others. I would definitely recommend this tour. Jens has an endless amount of knowledge about Iceland to share. The price was also exceptional compared to other tours we considered.

      Just an excellent experience
Just an excellent experience. Jens was so kind and accommodating - we decided to book this tour less than a week from departure and weren't sure if we could make it. Unable to find a decent tour after a couple of cancellation we finally reached out to Jens who made it all happen for us in such a short time. Not only Jens delivered more than what he promised, we had a great time with him as a tour guide and with our group which was small and fun. Travelling with 2 teenagers among a group of 8, we had the best time. Jens' folk tales at the end of each day was really a nice touch and highlight for our children. Food was amazing which was all hand-picked by Jens for each location. We would really recommend Fun Travels for your Iceland Experience.

Review of Iceland Complete-ICE-04 August 2021
During the first week of August, my friend and I took the Iceland Complete Tour with Jens Olafsson from Fun Travel. In the comfortable van, Jens drove the small group, we all agreed a plus, to varied and interesting places around the island. A knowledgeable and careful driver, he anticipated our need to take frequent breaks and made us aware of any issues we might encounter. Occasionally, Jens would read to us an Icelandic folktale. With cameras in hand, we started with key city sites. After this, we began our travels, experiencing many breathtaking wonders of nature such as glaciers, miles of old lava, an active volcano, and many magnificent waterfalls. Art was abundant, giving us a museum on the go. We also observed the evolution of the architecture: turf covered houses to contemporary high-rises in Reykjavik. Accommodations were good as a whole. Two guest houses were fair, others very good, and the last one, a hotel in Reykjavik, was excellent. The food was always well prepared and delicious. It was too early in the season to see the Northern Lights. However, the weather was wonderful; but we were glad we packed a protective jacket, and a hat. I do wish I had taken my hiking stick. Traveling rewards and engages the mind. My friend and I were glad we chose this interesting and memorable tour. Frances Perdue Franklin, Kentucky

      Fantastic tour of amazing Iceland
My first contact was by e-mail, and he was not sure he was going to offer the last 10-Day Complete ring island tour, on 17 SEPT 2021. Kindly, Jens offered the group tour for just the 2 of us, whether anyone else joined or not. Sis and I were going to cruise around Iceland if he was not able to offer tour, but I really wanted to experience the vastness of Iceland. So, just 5 weeks after my initial contact with Jens, my sister and I landed, excited to begin our island tour the next day. Owner, Jens met us at Reykjavik’s Hotel Klettur 8AM that morning to introduce us to Dori, our driver/guide for the next 8 days. Jens and Dori were in contact during the tour, and, once Jens had to emergently change an overnight accommodation due to Orange level weather event of gale force winds, snow, sleet and ice, which prevented further travel that day by noon. Dori, our tour guide/driver provided new experiences every day and shared stories about Iceland, and some were even true. We learned so much about Iceland’s history, geology, weather, nature, culture and incredible people. We hiked to glaciers under volcanos, geysers and mud pots, lava flow fields and formations, and did I say waterfalls! We hiked to many waterfalls (not all 3000)! We hiked up some craters. We hiked along and above black sand and black pebble beaches along the Atlantic Ocean where many basalt formations had formed. We drove in and out of fjords, up and down mountainous dirt and paved roads, and sometimes drove to a little sidebar waterfall Dori felt we may enjoy. Which we did. Dori would drive us to one spot to hike, and pick us up at the other end an hour later so we did not have to backtrack. And he got us back to the capitol in time for our COVID test, and we had the text results in less than 30 minutes, as we were checking into Hotel Klettur post-tour. Having now been to 69 countries, I usually fly internationally, rent a car to drive and experience the country independently. Since I do hours of research about any destination before I go, and read books in addition, it added to my experience, for I understood better what Dori was explaining and allowed for real conversation. But this experience in Iceland was even more than I had expected, in no small part because of Jens’ organized company, the planned itinerary, the unique variety of farmstead accommodations, the quality of food, and Dori. (Dori also brings guests to Greenland for a few day extension thru his business). There is no way my sister and I would have enjoyed Iceland, nor seen as much, nor selected the accommodations on our own. And I would never travel by bus tours! I was essential and much more enjoyable to hire this small tour company so we could just hike, post travel blogs between sites, enjoy the guesthouses and the dinners and breakfasts, and meet other travelers and locals. I already had a friend ask for Jens’ contact info, for him and his wife to do the same tour as they followed our posts, photos and videos on Facebook the whole trip.

We recently completed the 13-day Fun Travel tour of Iceland. With so many short tours available, you might ask what is there to see for almost two weeks. The answer is: many gorgeous sights, historical landmarks, geologically interesting fissures and hot springs, glaciers, (including a boat ride) and especially the natural beauty of the western fjords with its red sands. We stopped at multiple sites every day including many breathtaking waterfalls and, of course, the geyser at Bláskógabyggð. Jens stopped often so that we could photograph numerous beautiful vistas. Each night our accommodations were mostly in very rural areas, where the owners decided to put up nicely designed rooms with comfort similar to a city hotel room. Most of the meals were either lamb or fish, but that doesn’t adequately describe the quality and creativity of the food preparation, which, in many cases, we would consider gourmet. There is considerable walking and climbing, but mostly easily done by our group that averaged low to mid ‘70s. Walking stick(s) are highly recommended, as are waterproof hiking boots. For the few sites that were challenging, Jens, made it clear that climbing the full distance was not required. Jens spiced up the trip reading ghost stories (e.g., about the invisible people). Also, when we left an iPad at a place in the western fjords, Jens arranged to have it taken to the hotel we would stay at on the last day. In summary, if you want to experience much of the beauty and landmarks in Iceland, you should look closely at this trip.

This tour exceeded my expectations, which were high! Jens put together a well-planned itinerary of great sights and experiences – including an amphibious vehicle trip on a glacier lagoon, a walk around the rim of a volcano, visits to geothermal regions and beautiful waterfalls, and plenty of photo stops. We saw a lot, mostly without feeling too rushed, and on the longer or more strenuous walks there were options for people to do less if they wanted. The accommodation was comfortable and in interesting locations (mostly farms), the included meals were excellent, and Jens was a very knowledgeable guide. I really felt that I got a good insight into Iceland and Icelandic culture. I highly recommend this tour!

My wife and I greatly enjoyed our Iceland tour with Fun Travel. Each day we made from 4 to 10 stops seeing many waterfalls, hot springs, glaciers, glacial lakes, lava fields, fishing villages, mountains, fjords, churches, historical sites, lighthouses, black and red sand beaches, and many species of birds including arctic terns and puffins. Jens Olafsson is careful to tailor the trip taking into account the physical abilities of his passengers. He used his knowledge of other tours to help us avoid crowds. He added a taste of cultural background by reading us stories of Icelandic lore. Jens gives background for each site on the trip and is good about answering questions. The excursion into the West Fjords was spectacular and missing from many other tours. We felt that this tour made the best possible use of our limited time in Iceland.

My daughter and I enjoyed the most amazing adventure with Jens small group 13 day tour around Iceland in July. It was more than we had ever hoped for including spectacular waterfalls (as well as off the beaten path waterfalls), glaciers, craters, lava fields and so much more. Jens is extremely knowledgeable of his beloved country and doesn’t hesitate to share culture and history as well as reading folk legends. The food was delicious and the lodging and farmstays all were very welcoming and a delight. We loved Iceland and thank you Jens for not only organizing and planning the tour, but for your expertise in driving the narrow windy roads and guiding us around your beautiful country. We highly recommend this tour with Jens – you won’t be disappointed.

My husband and I enjoyed The Great Round Tour: Around Iceland in 13 Days. It was a trip of a lifetime. Jens, our tour guide and owner of Fun Travel Tours, did an amazing job showing us all the highlights of the Ring Road around Iceland. His knowledge and love of his homeland was evident during the entire tour. Everyday we made 10-15 stops exploring waterfalls, lava fields, beaches, fishing villages and countless other places. Our lodging arrangements were excellent and very unique. The provided breakfasts and dinners were delicious and a highlight of our visit. The 13 passenger van was comfortable and an easy way to get around. Jens did an excellent job meeting the needs of all the guests. He took time daily to share stories and folktales of his homeland and that time of day became a highlight of our days for our group. Jens did a great job before the tour answering all of our questions and helping us make arrangements that met our needs. We would recommend taking this tour if you want to see all Iceland has to offer.

This was the best way to see all of Iceland. There was so much natural beauty, I was overwhelmed with one spectacular waterfall after another. I was pleasantly surprised with the farm stays. They were modern, clean with great views and very welcoming hosts. We saw everything from icebergs to geysers, and the puffins are very cute Our tour leader, Jens, knew so much about the history, culture, and beliefs surrounding Iceland. This is a tour to remember

When my travel buddies asked if we wanted to take this tour of Iceland, I thought we were booking the usual stop-jump out, photo op that would race around the island and offer junk food every night. What a surprise! We spent thirteen days of hiking to falls, cliffs, glaciers, volcanoes and fjords. One day, we covered around 10 miles, so being in some kind of shape is a requisite for this tour unless you wish to sit in the van, waiting. The stops were often to less-visited start points for the walks.

Jens never rushed us and the the small group (we were only 10, 12 is max) facilitates more scenic visits since it doesn't take 5 minutes to unload and load as it would with a 50 person bus. we always had ample time to explore and take photos.

Note that some hikes were strenuous with changes is elevation and/or difficult footing - bring hiking poles if not steady. Also note that Jens doesn't stop for weather; rain and high winds are part of the experience.

A tip: when Jens exchanges his sandals for his hiking boots, expect some huffing and puffing. Each destination was beautiful - but it would be hard to find a spot on this island that isn't.

Accommodations are European, small, efficient and clean. Usually, the hotels were privately owned and the owners and their families were often the staff and servers. The locations were often remote, no throngs of tourists milling about; difficult anyway when there are no streets. Enjoy dinner and get to bed because the next day begins early.

The dinners were all quality restaurant fare, always delicious, always Icelandic lamb or local, fresh caught fish. The breakfasts were usually standard continental with some pleasant exceptions (yes, my wife grabbed most of the semi-soft boiled goose eggs before the other travelers arrived).

We will visit again, using Fun Travel Tours of Iceland, when we expect to need crampons to visit the falls!

I had a fabulous time! I chose this tour because the itinerary was so inclusive, and the company had great reviews. The small group size is a real perk. I think I would not have had the same authentic experience with a larger company and/or non-native guide. Jens inside knowledge and experience was invaluable and much appreciated. He gave us understandable guidelines for how much time we should portion for each site, but was flexible and I rarely felt rushed. He very smartly tweaked the itinerary for the last two days so we could return to Reykjavik in time to get our COVID test for our return flight.

Iceland is a stunningly beautiful, scenic country and I'm happy I got to see so much of it. I completely enjoyed our lodgings; attractive and comfortable, and everything working (I'm used to 3rd-world countries where the electricity is going out and there's no hot water). Almost all our lodgings had in-room tea/coffee which was nice. Lamb is my favorite and I enjoyed it for dinner many times.

Do bring warm gloves, hat and scarf as recommended - I used them often and was thankful to have them. The clothing I brought was too lightweight.... do not underestimate the wind, rain and changeable weather. You don't need much variety of clothing because you will be bundled in a coat and hat pretty much all day. I did not wear either pair of shorts I brought once.

I did not find the van particularly comfortable; there is not a coat hook, cup holder, pocket or snippet of storage anywhere on or around the seats, and I found myself balancing my gear uncomfortably in my lap for hours. The windows have sun filtering film so it's too dark to read inside, and zero visibility outside when raining.

Other than that, you are in good hands with Jens, who is patient and accepting of all, and quite easy to get smiling. By the way I think he is a fabulous driver and never felt unsafe in the van for a minute. Unless you want to waste your day on the road instead of seeing the sights, you cannot be complacent to be stuck behind slow drivers for miles (i.e. tourists in rental cars). I would not have missed this experience! Highly recommend the itinerary and Jens!

This was a fantastic trip. I loved it and would highly recommend it. Still, different people have different tastes so I'll try to give an informative review so you can better make up your own mind.
A brief background of before the tour. We were all set to go in 2020 and then . . . well you know. Owner/operator/guide Jens was extremely understanding and helpful as we first canceled 2020 and then later, after a lot of indecision on our part, decided we could go in 2021.
The tour mainly (not exclusively) emphasizes the incredible scenery of Iceland: daily waterfalls, the iceberg lagoon, lava fields and beach walks. We spent a little time on a quick tour of Reykjavik, saw one small but nice museum, and had three hours of free time in Akureyri; the rest was mostly scenery and birds. That was perfect for me (I for one would have sacrificed the time in the city and villages for more waterfalls) but if you want more culture and less scenery this may not be your ideal tour.
Another reviewer observed that there was more driving and fewer attractions in the west part of the island. This is true and is underscored because the west part comes after the very busy south, east and north. My wife said if she were to do it again she'd go for the 10-day tour. Not me; the puffins and Dynjandi alone would have made it worth the extra driving.
Accommodations tended to be a little cramped by American standards but otherwise very nice. Breakfasts, IMO, tended to be a little boring; lunch is on your own dime (OK, more like your own $15.00; Iceland is expensive); dinners were fantastic. There were frequent "technical stops" along the way where you could take care of pressing business and buy coffee and/or snacks.
Jens's van is nothing really special (it does have WIFI, a big point in its favor). It is only slightly more comfortable than economy class airline seats but the frequent stops to get out and stretch our legs made this, for me at least, pretty much a non-issue.
Speaking of which, there is a lot of walking on this tour, more than you might expect from reading the description on the web site. This was great for most of us but if you are either unwilling or unable to do some moderate walking every day, this is not the tour for you.
As mentioned, Jens was very helpful before the trip. In particular he is very good about answering emails. He also made accommodation arrangements for us to arrive early and leave late and even arranged a room for my cousin and me at the end of a second tour we took after his.
Other reviewers have said, accurately, that Jens is not exactly loquacious. He gives information about the day in general and provides information at each stop during the day but he does not talk non-stop along the road. This was fine by me but I gather some people feel for their money they should get a continuous monologue. Not happening with Jens. He is however perfectly happy to answer all your questions. Also, at the end of the day Jens always ate dinner with us but it was clear that other than that he considered himself off the clock once we were settled in our rooms. If I was herding tourists 10 hours a day I'd want some personal time at the end too but I gather some people have different expectations.
My only reservation about the whole tour is that I personally thought Jens was a bit of an aggressive driver. We had no accidents and I'm not aware he's ever had an accident but you might feel more comfortable with your seatbelt on (it's the law in Iceland anyway).
So, my advice is to understand exactly what you are and aren't getting but I for one had a wonderful time (and have about 2500 pictures to show for it) and I'd go again in a heartbeat.
