Way too many people on each tour !!!
If you don’t mind being shoved like sardines for 1 hr each way on a bus, then why not. After all, you are riding on a glacier in the summer. The staff does their job, that’s it. No courtesy at all, likely because we had 56 people on our tour. Something they are not honest about is the added ice tunnel. Despite knowing since June that it is closed, they continue taking reservations for it and advising 2 days prior that “recent” conditions prevent this experience. In the end, it’s not a good option for folks who want to enjoy curated Icelandic experiences. It’s for those who want to do such ride regardless of the context and the numbers. There are other companies who take smaller groups on the same glacier. Appeared more personable.

Great Experience and Even Better Guides
I don’t think anything I have done in my life is as cool as snowmobiling on a glacier, and the amazing team was there to help every step of way while making the process quick and easy. After a fun hour of exhilarating snowmobiling, I realized I lost my phone sometime during the journey. Our fun and knowledgeable tour guide, Nico, went back to look for it and it was at my hotel, almost two hours away, before dinner. Nico and the rest of the team went above and beyond, and it truly shows in every step of the adventure.

Must do with fantastic lifetime experience
What a fantastic day! After safety induction and machine operating introduction, we hopped on the snowmobile, turned on the engine and the fleet set off one by one. I enjoyed so much with the exhilaration and liberating riding. Riding on glacier under golden sun shine and feeling the mobile cut through the air with fresh breathe was such an adrenaline trip. One of my travel milestone just came true. It was such an exciting and remarkable lifetime experience. Highly recommend the day tour with the operator when visiting Iceland.

Original trip cancelled but a great day out
We had originally booked this trip but the day before it actually got cancelled as we were the only people that had booked it and we instead were put on the trip "Golden Circle Super-Jeep Tour and Snowmobiling". We were a bit disappointed as we purposely didn't go to the blue lagoon as we thought we were going to the secret lagoon as part of this trip. More notice would have been appreciated - so bare that in mind if you are booking this. Other than that, the day was brilliant and our tour guide Raven was amazing. We got to see a lot of stuff during the day trip and Raven was full of information. Then of course the snowmobiling was the highlight. Raven even then stopped on the way back to allow us to meet some Icelandic horses. Overall, the day was really well organized and a great way to see some sights out with the city. Would highly recommend!

What an amazing day! We had such a fantastic day with our tour guide Raven, he was so knowledgeable and we felt extremely safe with his driving. The snowmobiling was also such an adrenaline rush, the staff up on the glacier made us feel safe and warm before embarking on the snowmobile. I wish they had other tours we could’ve joined that went from Reykjavík as we didn’t rent a car and we just loved this one so much! 10/10 would recommend

Pude adrenaline driving snowmobile in a glacier
Pure adventure! For me a dream that came true. Nice guides, very safe, easy instructions and many time to enjoy the landscape. If you go to the Iceland, don’t miss a chance to feel this emotion.

Excellent experience for Teens and Parents alike!
Excellent experience! My teen girls and I participated in this snowmobile adventure pub our second day in the country. The company takes care of everything - bus from the meeting place, snow gear, etc. the guides we very nice and helpful. My 18 year old went solo, 13 yo with me. After a brief tutorial, we hopped on the snow mobiles and headed out. 25 minutes of riding, a 10 minute picture break on the glacier then 25 min ride back. It was just the right amount of time. Fun was had by all!

Views that will last a lifetime!
This is the second time we took this tour. Going in the private super keep has some advantages over the small group tour. However, the only reason we didn't give it five stars was our tour guide. Don't get me wrong - he was polite and accommodating but if we didn't engage with him he didn't offer much information on his own. So if you want a private and probably a quieter tour take your own super jeep. But if you want to have a more interactive tour take a small group tour - I believe, the small group tour guides are a little more informative and interactive! Oh and the snowmobiling on the glacier, is simply out of this world!!! Both times, when you stop to look around you think you're on top of the world! It's a view you'll always remember!!!

    it was good!
The tour was good! We were in a group of 4. We each had our own snowmobile. I say the tour was good and not great because we all have experience on off road vehicles and the tour was very relaxing and the group was huge so we had to go as fast as the slowest person. I would say any beginner or first timer can do it. The total amount of ride time was about 45 minutes. If you are an experienced rider i would say to go with the other tour they have if it’s available which is more adrenaline and less relaxing lol. I believe it’s called gold rush or something rush! We would of preferred that one but there wasn’t enough snow for the different snow mobiles and we didn’t want to miss out on the experience! It was nice to ride to the glaciers and the super jeep tour to the snow mobile location was nice! Shoutout to Emil our guide! He was awesome!! he took amazing photos of us during our 10 min rest stop! He also saved me from my fake snow gloves! my fingers felt like they were going to fall off! i thought i had good gloves but i guess not! Bring leather or wool gloves!

Best way to informatively experience Iceland in one day
We had a friendly tour guide taking us trough the different towns and iconic hot spots. The trip was informative and fun to do in a super jeep. The iceing on the cake was the snowmobile outing on the glacier which was a great experience. If there is any advice I would give is to ask as many questions about iceland as you can. The tour guides are very informed and very friendly.

Six of us enjoyed this trip a must do experience. You are picked up in a monster truck then met by a bigger truck with chains on the wheels. How it gets to its destination over the ice and snow is incredible. Snow overalls helmets and gloves are issued and then a short training sessions and safety talk. You travel in a line to the ice cave approx 30 mins . The cave was incredible . Then back on the snow mobiles. Staff were great. Weather on the glacier is brutal and I wore crampons.

We (group of 4) decided to add this to our trip and I'm so glad we did. Due to weather, we were notified two days before our scheduled tour that they were cancelling the tour as scheduled. We were given the option for a full refund or to reschedule. Luckily, we had some flexibility to reschedule. The communication with Inga was very quick and easy.

The tour itself was great! I was nervous when we hopped on a bus with 50+ people that we were going to be the tail end of a very, very long snowmobiling chain. However, once we got off the bus, they brought the 16 of us that opted for the Ice Cave tour to the side for our safety briefing. Our guide, Sniper, was really nice and made our whole group feel very comfortable with the snowmobile (none of us had ridden on one before). Once the briefing was over, we were in a group with only 10 vehicles. It was so fun! We had enough room to get some really high speeds, but felt very safe with our two guides.

The cave was pretty cool, no pun intended. It was small, but I haven't been in anything like it before so it made for a couple fun photos.

We had an 8 year old in our group and he LOVED it. Mountaineers of Iceland outfitted us with warm clothing, which I was very grateful for.

The tour takes you over the glacier to a man-made little ice cave, which is pretty cool and the guide explains a bit about the ice and the formation. You get to do some pictures in there. After you ride to a little viewpoint. Riding the snowmobile is super fun, however you ride in one line and obviously have to keep distance to the one in front of you, so you can't really drive proper fast. I thought the riding time itself was way too short. The whole getting to the glacier & get dressed takes up most of the time.

Thank you for your comment, happy to hear that you enjoyed the tour with us. As we are working on the glacier we sometimes have to alter the time frame according to the conditions on the glacier each time. During the summer the glacier becomes a bit more tricky and we don’t have as much space to work with as water accumulates on the glacier and gaps on the glacier open up. During the winter the gapes fill up with snow and freezes to give us more safe ground to work with. I would highly recommend the Glacier rush tour for those that want more advanced tours. Best regards Mountaineers team.

Booked this as an adjunct to our self driving golden circle tour. Easy to find after an early breakfast at a bakery in Reykjavik. Pricey (but then everything here is) but worth every penny. Well organised from start to finish and our guide, Sniper (short for something longer....), made my wife (a little nervous of snowmobiles) feel very comfortable, and my kids (13 and 14) feel very special. A big thank you to him. All in all a great adventure and, whether we got lucky I don’t know, but most of our group had booked the simpler glacier tour so our jaunt to the ice caves felt that little bit more exclusive. Lots of thumbs up!!

Such fun! Great ride up the mountain in the 4WD bus and then suited up at base camp and shown how to use the snow mobile. We felt safe the entire time as it is clear the guides are keeping a close eye on us and will help anyone who falls off really quickly. Unfortunately we couldn’t go to the ice cave as there was too much snow fall and wasn’t safe. That was ok as the trip was so much fun anyway. 100% recommend!

That was our first ever snowmobile experience. We had a kid with as aged 7yo. And as this was the only snowmobile tour we could find for kids younger then 8 we decided to go for it. It didn't disappoint and it was fun for kids and for adults alike. The tour is well organized, client responsible, the young guide did his best to tell as lots of interesting facts about the cave and the surroundings. And speeding up through the white snowy desert was totally awesome!! I highly recommend for people with or without kids!

The tour to the snow mobiles was good only i didnt understand why we had to chance bus in de middle of te trip. When we were at destination point the was no guidanse to the lockers to chance clothes. Also when everybody did chance clothes nobody knew what to do next (a little notification could help. The Guy who eventualy came to show us how the snow mobile worked was experienced and open for questions. The trip om the snow mobile was great! The only thing That bothers me a bit was that we didnt visit the ice cave. I mean ive ordered the ticket for it right?

You are absolutely right, we should do better in informing you about what is happening, we are sorry about that and will strive to do better. The main reason why we sometimes change cars is performance, some cars are better than others and we want our best equipment running in harsh conditions. Good to hear that the snowmobile tour went as planned and that you enjoyed it. If you didn't go to the Ice Cave you are entitled to a partial refund. Could you send us a line to ice@mountaineers.is?

My friends and I booked this tour on a last minute decision. Originally, we were at Gullfoss, about to check out the waterfalls until a tour rep from the company approached us to asked if we were interested in the snowmobile and ice cave tour. And we were interested indeed. The tour itself took about 4 hours total. It takes one hour to get to the base and one hour back down to the Gullfoss parking lot. Our tour guide, Mr. Clean, was very nice and friendly. Mr. Clean was very professional and patient with everyone in the group. I would recommend this tour however, the ice cave is man made. Would of been nice if it was a natural one. The natural one melted away last summer. Snowmobiling is a lot of fun. Definitely have to try it once.

Thanks for your honest review, Jennifer. I'm so glad to hear that you took an on-spot decision to go, without any planning. That's a bold move! So glad to hear you liked everything about the tour except the Ice Cave, I think we did not inform you well enough that this was a man-made Ice Cave. I apologize for that. But thank you again for coming and giving us a lesson learned about informing our customers better.

Ridiculous short ride for that kind of money. Skill level needed - none. Not joking, for the whole app. 30min round trip only 4 times we were changing direction. For some maybe suitable, for us absolutly boring. Still very good view, nice and funny instructors and impressive ice cave. Please, change tour description accordingly

We‘re sorry that our tour didn‘t meet your expectations. The tour is operated at slower pace in late summer due to the ice being exposed. The view is more spectacular since you can view the actual glacier. This tour is suited for everyone and snowmobile experience is not required. Please look at our Glacier Rush tour, which we operate in the winter, for a faster paced tour suited for people with motoring experience. Best Regards Mountaineers team
