About the operator
- Discoveroneself00Professional Service by Creative IcelandThere are 4 of us and we needed advice on how to plan our trip for the 5 days in September. Nicolas helped with the itinerary and logistics, making sure we have a spread of events, taking into account our interests, preferences and budget. Nicolas is very responsive and professional, which makes the planning of our amazing trip a success. He was happy to answer any questions I have in the little time we had. Although he was not the actual tour guide, he was well on board with every tour we booked through him, down to the arrival/location of the drivers who were to pick us up and guide us for the day. We thoroughly enjoyed the tours - Iceland is an amazing place! One particular tour guide Haukar is incredible - he's professional, knowledgable and personable - we are lucky to have him for the 12 hour journey to the South Coast and Jokulsarlon! Nicolas also helped us time the Northern lights perfectly and the result was that we were lucky to see the lights within the first 5 minutes after arrival at our destination. A big thank you for doing your best to make our trip so memorable. I have no hesitation in recommending the services of Nicolas and Creative Iceland!
- Karim C00Wonderful morning with Ragga!!I highly recommend the RAGGA embroidery workshop. I am a man and I managed to do Icelandic embroidery !! So, you can go alone, as a couple or even as a family. The kids will love. Anyway, Ragga will adapt to your level as she is a fantastic teacher and very friendly. We finished the morning with an excellent typical Icelandic lunch which was included in the price of the workshop. Do not hesitate if you are in Iceland.
- juliasywong00a truly amzing experience!I’d like to share my wonderful experience with Creative Iceland in late July. Before we set out for our Iceland trip, we booked a letterpress workshop with them online. I started communicating with Nicolas, their Manager, when I failed to get hold of the staff of the Service Apartment we booked. We felt lost and wanted to seek help from a professional about driving in Reykjavik, especially when many roads were pedestrian only in Reykjavik, which did cause trouble / confusion to travellers. Nicolas gave us prompt and constructive advice, which we found tremendously helpful. When we were wondering if we had time for a chocolate factory tour, Nicolas kindly liaised with the letterpress workshop host to shift the workshop hours a bit to allow us to enjoy both events on the same day. He was always ready to go the extra mile to help travellers in need. The letterpress workshop we joined was our highlight in Reykjavik. It’s a good chance for us to learn about letterpress printing, and also get to know about Icelandic people. We had a great time designing / making our own postcards, and chatting with the host. She’s a very friendly lady and we enjoyed our chat with her. As for the chocolate factory tour, it was just fantastic. We joined chocolate workshop and visited chocolate factory in Switzerland. But this one in Reykjavik was extraordinary. We learned so much about chocolate from raw materials to packaging. We sampled their chocolate which was the best ever. Unfortunately, we couldn’t bring any back home as it’s 35 degree in Hong Kong!! We would highly recommend Creative Iceland to our friends (anyone indeed) if they ever go to Iceland. We wish we could visit Iceland again soon. It has so much to offer.
- Amy S00Woodcarving workshop is wonderful! Our entire family—2 adults and children ages 10-13 loved the woodcarving workshop arranged through Creative Iceland. Our hosts were talented and wonderful. We had a great day and came home with skills we are excited to continue using. Really this could not be any better. We just loved it.
- James T00There needs to be a service like this in every city. Period.I actually did several classes with Creative Iceland: - A food tour around downtown Reykjavik - A woodcarving tutorial - A folklore walk through Reykjavik I truly wish I could have done 5 more. Each of these three experiences were top-tier amazing. On top of everything, their customer service is truly phenomenal. Nicolas helped us put together experiences, not just classes. And he was able to arrange transportation between places if need be as well. I couldn't be more satisfied with my experience. I mean this: Every town, every state should have a service like this, putting together creative experiences that are more than just the local tourist traps.
- ohara202000Not appropriate for young kids or tweensMy tween girls and I saw the advertising boards around Rejkjavik - and on a whim decided to do the tour on our last day. This is the only activity we did in Reykjavik that required CASH ONLY - and the host directed me to a local ATM. Although kids are free, the content/stories and 'jokes' were very inappropriate for young kids and tweens - and there were about 6 kids total in our group There was nothing very haunted about this tour either - other than we visited a graveyard. The advertising board had several "excellent" reviews from TripAdvisor, but I don't actually see any reviews tied to this tour on TripAdvisor.
- youngkean00A sense of what its like to live in Reykjavik, during the financial crash and nowWe really enjoyed walking around Reykjavik with Magnus, a professor of economic history at the university there. We're policy wonks from another small advanced economy and we wanted to get a sense of what it is like to live in Reykjavik now and in the financial crash. Magnus made it all so clear and personal in a way that anybody would enjoy - even if you don't know much about economics like my husband. He took us to places you wouldn't get to know about any other way, too. It became the touchstone for understanding everything we saw on the rest of our holiday.
- Jacqueline J00City Tour - ReykjavicNicholas organized a walking tour of Reykjavic with a company called 'City Walk'. Our guide Eric was incredibly knowledgeable, enthusiastic and worldly. This is an absolute must for anyone visiting the city and wanting to learn more about the Icelandic culture, the fascinating history and great stories along the way. Highly recommended.
- StephC65800Learning from a master craftsman and making our own souvenirsWe really enjoyed this opportunity to learn how to shape a knife handle and sew a leather sheath from a master craftsman. Palli taught us how to use a rasp to shape the wood and animal horn into a properly shaped handle. Then he cut cow hide into a sheath pattern which would fit the knife perfectly, and taught us how to sew the sheath. It was a lovely day; Palli's hospitality was wonderful. It was fun to chat with him, and we enjoyed coffee, a traditional lunch, and hanging out with friendly German Shepherd Nora. And we came home with souvenirs that we will cherish. Highly recommended!
- sarcasticupcake00An Interesting ExperienceI stumbled across this while looking for things to do in Reykjavik and thought it would be great to try and learn basic Icelandic, my father joined in as well out of curiosity. The lesson was at Hannesarholt Cultural House and Sirrý had a handful of material prepared for us. She was also very patient and kind, repeating certain words a few times while making sure to not overwhelm us and also explaining bits of Icelandic culture to us and why some words are how they are. After the lesson, Sirrý emailed me more material to learn in my spare time as well as details for an Icelandic summer intensive, which I plan to sign up for next year. Now I'm more inspired to learn the language seriously thanks to Sirrý's enthusiasm and patience, will definitely recommend her to anyone who wants to have a go at Icelandic.
- 30clairebooth00Wonderful Icelandic experienceThe service and help we received from Nicholas and his team at Creative Iceland was exceptional. He helped us all the way, his knowledge and advice was boundless. The Creative Iceland team booked all our trips and experiences. We were visiting Iceland for my husband Neal’s birthday. Nicholas and fabulous chef Carlos cooked a wonderful three course meal of Michelin star standard at our Chalet. The evening exceeded all our expectations, Carlos prepared the meal and Nicholas prepared the table, drinks and even washed up. Every email I sent to Nicholas was answered promptly and nothing was too much trouble. If you are looking to celebrate with a wonderful meal, the team at Creative Iceland are the only people you need. Claire and Neal Booth
- Jo O00Surprise 30th Birthday DinnerWe / a family of 7 & a friend came to Iceland for a 30th Birthday celebration. We first booked an Airbnb, then decided to do something special & SPECIAL it was. I went online & sent a message to Creative Iceland, the response was quick. I was messaged by Nicolas & from the first message to the last I was confident that it would be ok. On the day,Nicolas & Carlos arrived with everything & proceeded to cook an amazing 3 course delicious dinner. From the moment Nicolas arrived with the cake we’d ordered! which was Brilliant!!! We felt like we were in are own special restaurant. Carlos cooked an amazing dinner, he brought each course to the table & explained what we were about to eat, which looked fantastic, tasted amazing & plentiful. My favourite was the Tomatoes & roasted red pepper soup with added beef Wow. So I / we would highly recommend Nicolas & Carlos to make your experience fantastic as they did for us. Also the I felt the cost was great value would book again. Jo & fam xx
- SueAnnVogt00A Wonderful Icelandic ExperienceA group of seven of us had dinner with Dadi and his wife Sofia. The three course meal was delicious in their lovely home. The best part however was the experience of dining with such an interesting couple. They were so gracious and answered all our questions about living in Iceland. They also shared information about their occupations - he is an artist and has his home decorated with his original artwork; she is a nursery school teacher and discussed education in Iceland. I would highly recommend this to anyone who would like an authentic Icelandic experience.
- readytogogogogo00Great Evening with NicholasOMG, What a great evening. Dadi accommodated my issue with lactose intolerance and prepared a wonderful dinner for the 7 of us. We were warmly welcomed into his home where we felt immediately at ease. Our hosts were happy to answer our questions and we felt we learned so much about Iceland and its friendly citizens. I will remember our dinner as a highlight of my visit and already have shared the experience with friends and family.
- Cincinnatian1900A true taste of IcelandOur group was very happy with the delicious food that we enjoyed at the private home. It was so nice to have a real taste of Icelandic food in such a comfortable atmosphere The location was very accessible and it was a nice relaxing evening, Dadi and his wife are very gracious hosts, I would highly recommend this for anyone visiting Reykjavik.

We hired Nicholas and his team for an intimate 17 person wedding in August 2021 and they were brilliant. The meal was spectacular, genuinely one of the highest quality meals we have ever eaten (wedding or not), and the team that came was knowledgeable, friendly, and very professional. We couldn’t have asked for anything more. Our guests have brought up how good the meal was several times since the wedding. I personally had scallops, lamb and a raspberry desert and I remember everything about it. Just wonderful.

We were a group of 8 women a bit outside of Reykjavik for a bachelorette party. Chef Florian and Nicolas were right on time to prepare an amazing fish dinner for the group. They brought all of the supplies that they needed, which was great because we did not have to worry if the house had all of the dishes, utensils, tools, etc that they needed.
They were both super kind and fun and prepared amazing food - well worth the price! This was our favorite meal of the entire trip!
Nicolas was a pleasure and very easy to work with from the start. He was very responsive and the process to book one of their services was very straightforward and easy. We actually also booked a second activity through Creative Iceland that we had to cancel. Nicolas was very understanding and promptly refunded the payment for the activity we were no longer doing.
Thank you to his great team for putting on such a memorable event for us!

We hired Nicolas and Carlos for our wedding dinner with 8 persons.
After the many good reviews here, we had very high expectations, but the two managed to even exceed them!
We could choose from several courses in advance. We opted for scallops as a starter and lamb as the main course. Especially the Icelandic lamb was incredibly delicious for us as continental Europeans. But the other two courses were also absolutely perfect. All guests were surprised and excited!
The eMail communication with Nicolas was already very pleasant in the preparation of the wedding. On the wedding day itself, I unfortunately did not have much time to talk to them. I found them both to be absolutely discreet and professional. They served the courses to the place, provided wine and left the kitchen in perfect condition.
My brother let Nicolas and Carlos into the house two hours before the dinner and also set the table with them according to our ideas. He reported to me that the two are absolutely pleasant conversationalists who have a lot of interesting things to say.
We had an unbelievably great wedding in Iceland. Creative Iceland's wedding dinner was an important part of that. We are very happy that we decided to have it.

Nicolas and Carlos provided us with an unforgettable dinner and fun during our visit to Iceland. We had them come over to our AirBnB and cook a fantastic lamb dinner for 8. We had nothing left at the end of dinner because we stuffed ourselves until we could not eat more. Their dinner was one of the most talked about event of our trip which says a lot. We would definitely asked them to cook for us on our next visit. Also, very knowledgeable and great conversation.

I really can't say enough about how great the services were provided by Creative Iceland. It was an amazing trip from start to finish! We used Creative Iceland to cater a couple of meals for us and they were nothing short of amazing! The ingredients, the flavor, and the presentation were superb! Nicolas also planned our entire trip from start to finish. We had a few hiccups on the trip due to weather but Nicolas was proactive and helped to find options to help save our trip. If you are looking for a true Icelandic experience with white-glove service look no further than Creative Iceland. The next time I travel to Iceland I will without hesitation use Creative Iceland for my Icelandic vacation.

Creative Iceland prepared a wonderful feast for our bachelorette group of 14 women in an AirBNB just outside Reykjavik. They came fully prepared and were able to set themselves up with very little assistance (which was especially good as the house was new to us also!). The food was fantastic - we had decided on a fairly simple menu given the group size, but through their expert preparation it definitely surpassed expectations. The kitchen and dining room were spotless when they left.
Nicolas was incredibly responsive throughout the entire booking process. Creative Iceland also arranged a Golden Circle tour for the same group the day prior. I was a little nervous about how things would work out, since I requested a slightly quicker tour than the usual (about 6 hours vs. 8), but I wouldn't have changed a thing! Our driver Omar was absolutely amazing and anticipated all of our needs and tailored the experience to our unique group (including an impromptu stop to meet some Icelandic ponies). The bus fit our group perfectly and was very comfortable with all the latest technology (WiFi, Bluetooth, etc.). 10 out of 10!

My brother and I celebrated our 50th birthday together in Reykjavik in June 2019. We rented a large AirBnb for the party and wanted to have a private chef come in and prepare an amazing meal. As the organizer, I was a bit anxious trying to organize something like this from far away and really wanted to have something special. Creative Iceland delivered, beat my expectations at every step, and - most important - wow'd everyone with incredible food and dinner service. A few highlights:
1) Communication from the first email was on point. The team was responsive and clear.
2) Menu planning was easy, fun, and flexible. I wanted to have appetizers that worked for vegetarians and meat eaters, a broad menu for adults, and a different menu for the kids in the group. The Creative Iceland team proposed great options for each and was very open to a few suggestions I had and a few changes I requested along the way.
3) Day before. The team came out to see the AirBnb where we stayed, delivered tables and chairs in advance, and met with me to discuss a few final details. And in an especially nice touch, they brought a few delicious breads and pastries for the family.
4) Day of. Wow. The smoked lamb was literally the best lamb I have ever had. And the chefs were all super proud of it. They had taken video during the smoking process and when they finished it on the grill at the bnb. We also had Salmon (delicious), fantastic vegetable dishes, and 3 or 4 sauces that perfectly complemented the food. And the service and support during the meal were awesome. It worked perfectly for a group with a pretty broad variety of food preferences and needs.
5) Clean up etc... The team left our place spotless and even came by the next day to pick up tables, chairs, and a few loose ends.
This meal, of our 12 days, in Iceland was the absolute tops.
Simply fantastic.

I began planning a trip for a group family vacation and fortunately stumbled upon Creative Iceland. From first contact Nicolas was helpful, patient and prompt in ensuring not just that we had a great dinner that everyone would enjoy, but that our entire trip was reserved and planned without a hitch. The dinner itself was what we would reasonably spend for a nice evening meal in the states without the hassle and formality of dragging an entire group out to dinner and forcing kids to squirm in their seats while courses are delivered. The meal itself was delicious with wonderful sauces to accompany and compliment the meal that our chef whipped up effortlessly. The chef and assistant arrived early to set up and prepare, were lovely conversationalists and loaded up the dishwasher in the apartment we rented before exiting. Our only regret was that we hadn’t reserved the chef for every meal of our vacation! If you are planning a visit to Iceland my best recommendation is to contact Nicolas and let him coordinate your trip, every recommendation he made was spot on.

Wow!! Nicolas and his team provided such a memorable and perfect catering experience. We had 30 guests and a toddler at our wedding in a rental lodge. Nicolas coordinated everything with the owner of the lodge so we didn’t have to worry about tables, chairs, etc. He was so accommodating to our last minute changes and the communication was outstanding.
On the day of the wedding, the chefs arrived early to prep and couldn’t have been better guests. They even ran out to the store to get milk for the toddler since we accidentally bought buttermilk. They provided everything that was needed for the dinner (dishes, glassware, candles, etc.).
The dinner was OUTSTANDING! We chose the three course meal (lamb rump) and it was some of the best food we’ve ever had. They had a great vegetarian dish also. Everyone cleared their plates with each course (and the chefs even made a few extra servings for my dad).
When we decided not to get a wedding planner for our destination wedding in Iceland, we were nervous that the details of the evening might not come together well. Finding Nicolas and his team was a dream come true and made it the best day we could have hoped for. We can’t recommended them highly enough!!
