Funtastic Iceland with Fun Travel Iceland
I’m a travel agent, and I embarked with 2 of my clients, on a 13-days tour of Iceland in July, their peak summer season, with Fun Travel Iceland, and it was a fantastic tour. Before the tour started, I had communicated for quite some time with Jens, the owner and guide, asking all kinds of questions which my clients had asked, and he was excellent in terms of quick responses, organization, knowledge, and experience not only with office matters, but overall operation and information of the tour. It was a pleasure working with Jens. On the itinerary: Every place of visit was fantastic – in terms of historical, cultural and especially the geography. The scenery was fantastic, with lots of waterfalls, and each waterfall is different. We drove along the fjords, and the geography and geology was simply amazing. We visited geothermal pools and geysers, lava fields, glaciers, hot springs, fishing villages, wildlife (Arctic Fox & Puffins)…..and the sun hardly sets at this time of year. There were some light activities involving trekking through canyons and streams, hiking up a couple of small volcanoes. We range in ages from 50 to 67, and we were all healthy, so these activities did not present any issues. On food: We got to try local Icelandic dishes…..excellent seafood and lamb meat, and they were delicious. Pretty much all breakfasts and dinners. On accommodations: The hotels and guesthouses were very good, but the main thing is that the accommodations were located near to coasts/fjords or highlands, so that the scenery around is just wonderful. Jens is a very careful driver and made sure safety was a priority. He was also flexible in stopping for restroom breaks and snacks. In summary, all I can say is that Iceland has to be on one’s bucket list, and Fun Travel Iceland is one of the best tour companies that I have gone on! I will go back again but, during the winter for the aurora borealis or northern lights! Chee

      Iceland in Depth
Jens organised a very thorough and detailed itinerary around Iceland. We saw and experienced so many sites of geological, geographical, historical and cultural significance. We stayed in comfortable accommodations which provided excellent breakfasts and dinners. This was a fantastic tour, that was well organised and well executed by Jens, who provided informative commentary throughout and added some Icelandic folk tales at times. Highly recommend this small group tour if you want to see the many highlights that Iceland offers.

      Best itinerary and value
The absolute best tour if you want a combination of sightseeing and light hiking. It’s not a hard core adventure tour, but there are times and places to hike. It’s a very complete itinerary given the time allowed. Jens makes sure you see places and travel roads that the “big” companies simply don’t do. Jens is also very knowledgable, and if you compare competitors prices, you will see this is an absolute bargain. If you want to see Iceland in a reasonable amount of time, then you simply can’t do better than Fun Travel.

      Farmhouse Stays were the BEST!
One of the reasons why I picked this tour was because of the farmhouse stays. The locations were in the country but very nice and were so relaxing and beautiful!! I enjoyed the photo stop with the Icelandic ponies and all of the beautiful scenery we saw: waterfalls galore, stunning skies and countryside, compelling coastlines, the brilliant glacier and lagoon cruise, the shiny diamonds on the black beach, and of course the Puffins! The food at each of the guesthouses was superb and some of the best food I have eaten in my life! Iceland definitely lived up to the hype and exceeded my expectations. All the time, money, and effort to get to Iceland are definitely worth it! This tour is excellent value for money and I would recommend it.

Extremely Great Value for Money ---- Do not Hesitate
After extensive research I decided to go with Jens as my dealings and his approach I felt very comfortable with. Jens dos not offer a "LUXURY" tour, this in no ways means the tour is "BASIC". The difference between the 2 in my opinion is only the "LUXURY" tour operated from a Mercedes Sprinter Luxury van ,as the equivalent tour was $5,000 - $6,000 I was extremely happy I chose Jens and his ford vehicle, it added to comparing and companionship of my fellow travellers as a solo traveller. As for the trip - Accomadation - 8 to 10 / 10 Meals - 7 to 10/10 Jens - 10/10 Itinerary - 3200 kilometres of WOW!!

      Adventure in Iceland
First of all, Funtravel.is was a fantastic company to work with! Jens gave us thorough information and was quick to respond to any of our questions! The trip was more than we could have imagined………informative guide who met all of our needs, delicious meals of lamb and fish, some activity each day with a walk to a waterfall, or over a lava flow, a black sand beach or a glacier! Such varied and interesting scenery all along the tour! Thank you for sharing your country with us!

An amazing, intense experience touring Iceland
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our action-packed journey with Jens and Fun Travels. We had a hectic pace with a different hotel each night. The accommodations were good and often in small family-owned farm houses. The included breakfasts and dinners were excellent. Our lunches were always at a restaurant with good food at our expense. Foods and drinks are expensive so be aware. Jens was very knowledgeable about the areas we travelled through. In addition to the popular tourist destinations, he always seemed to find many smaller out of the way stops that we likely would never have found on our own. I do not think he could have packed anything else into the itinerary. He entertained us with some folk stories to give us a flavor of the Icelandic culture. We were always on the go seeing spectacular scenery and so many waterfalls. Iceland has some very rugged volcanic areas but also several agricultural areas with luscious green hay fields and plenty of sheep. I suggest guests arrive a day or 2 early or stay an extra day or two to see more of Reykjavík. We covered so much ground driving the circumference of the island. Be prepared for lots of walking - walking sticks were helpful in some areas. Definitely a highlight of our world travels.

      13 Breathtaking Days Around Iceland
My daughter and I enjoyed the most amazing adventure with Jens small group 13 day tour around Iceland in July. It was more than we had ever hoped for including spectacular waterfalls (as well as off the beaten path waterfalls), glaciers, craters, lava fields and so much more. Jens is extremely knowledgeable of his beloved country and doesn’t hesitate to share culture and history as well as reading folk legends. The food was delicious and the lodging and farmstays all were very welcoming and a delight. We loved Iceland and thank you Jens for not only organizing and planning the tour, but for your expertise in driving the narrow windy roads and guiding us around your beautiful country. We highly recommend this tour with Jens – you won’t be disappointed.

13 Day Tour: Trip of a Lifetime
My husband and I enjoyed The Great Round Tour: Around Iceland in 13 Days. It was a trip of a lifetime. Jens, our tour guide and owner of Fun Travel Tours, did an amazing job showing us all the highlights of the Ring Road around Iceland. His knowledge and love of his homeland was evident during the entire tour. Everyday we made 10-15 stops exploring waterfalls, lava fields, beaches, fishing villages and countless other places. Our lodging arrangements were excellent and very unique. The provided breakfasts and dinners were delicious and a highlight of our visit. The 13 passenger van was comfortable and an easy way to get around. Jens did an excellent job meeting the needs of all the guests. He took time daily to share stories and folktales of his homeland and that time of day became a highlight of our days for our group. Jens did a great job before the tour answering all of our questions and helping us make arrangements that met our needs. We would recommend taking this tour if you want to see all Iceland has to offer.

So much to see & so little time!
As part of a merry group of 12, I enjoyed Jens’ history lessons and daily folk tales. Iceland is amazing country to experience and its people are justifiably proud of their heritage. During the second half of the trip, Jens became quieter, as concentration for driving in the mountains was needed. He answered our questions when asked, but does not have a bubbly personality. There was so much to see everyday -gorgeous open vistas, mountains of every shape, waterfalls, geothermal areas with greenhouses, sheep on the mountains, beside the road, and in the road, herds of horses, beef cattle, and dairy cows, beaches of black, red and white sands, cliffs overlooking the ocean filled with birds, glacier outfalls and icebergs, little churches, peaceful farms and guesthouses. Our 12 person van with luggage was cramped and we were climbing in/out frequently for short photo stops, “technical” stops, and long walks. Doing this daily for almost 2 weeks is tiring, especially for those who are tall, overweight or have joint/mobility issues. The gravel back roads are bumpy, but well maintained considering the traffic using them. Jens had to maintain a tight schedule to experience the sights, get us to our reserved lunch location, and check into our accommodations in time for dinner. After dinner, he would outline the next day’s itinerary and expected timing for morning departure and arrival at day’s end. I found the lodging/food and their locations to be delightful. I enjoyed the peace of being in the middle of nowhere. The owners obviously have worked hard to provide housing for Iceland’s booming tourism industry. Jens’ tour was so full that I look forward to returning to experience my favorite places in Iceland at a slower pace. However, Iceland is extremely expensive in all areas, and Jens’ tour was worth every krona. It will be tough to beat his price even for a shorter trip! Thank you, Jens, for a wonderful introduction to your country. I look forward to returning again - soon, I hope!

A wonderful 13 days in Iceland
This tour exceeded my expectations, which were high! Jens put together a well-planned itinerary of great sights and experiences – including an amphibious vehicle trip on a glacier lagoon, a walk around the rim of a volcano, visits to geothermal regions and beautiful waterfalls, and plenty of photo stops. We saw a lot, mostly without feeling too rushed, and on the longer or more strenuous walks there were options for people to do less if they wanted. The accommodation was comfortable and in interesting locations (mostly farms), the included meals were excellent, and Jens was a very knowledgeable guide. I really felt that I got a good insight into Iceland and Icelandic culture. I highly recommend this tour!

      Superb Overview of Exquisite Iceland
Jens did an amazing job of introducing us to all of Iceland. The places we went were breathtaking, including many sites well off the beaten track, seemingly inaccessible. At times, we were the only visitors, or one small group of few. We also did go to some popular places, but Jens selected times to visit when crowds would be minimal, such as the geyser and iceberg lagoon. We had ample photo stops. I loved being able to see my long-beloved puffins up close, and snag a couple of pictures. Each waterfall we visited was more beautiful than the last. There were memorable views of canyons, volcanic formations, and beaches, including black sand and sparkling iceberg remnants. Jens selected accommodations that were unusual, charming, and comfortable, many in the countryside. The food was superb, especially the fresh fish and the best lamb I ever had. It's good that we were so active, otherwise I would have had to roll home. The actual Fun Travel van was really comfortable. I appreciated the fact that our group was small. We did have a relatively brief look at Reykjavik at the start of the tour. I would have wanted more, but my husband and I had arrived a day early, which I recommend, to get a better feel of the city and visit some of the excellent art museums. Some members of our group added some days there after the tour ended. Jens did a good job of discussing Icelandic history, geologic / geothermal features, and even read us some charming Icelandic folk tales. We did have one visit to a wonderful outdoor (recreated village with thatched roof dwellings) and indoor (technology and crafts) museum as well, which I thoroughly enjoyed. If you want to have a wonderful overview of exquisite Iceland, with some depth at times, Fun Travel with Jens is surely the way to go.

      An exciting trip around Iceland
We recently completed the 13-day Fun Travel tour of Iceland. With so many short tours available, you might ask what is there to see for almost two weeks. The answer is: many gorgeous sights, historical landmarks, geologically interesting fissures and hot springs, glaciers, (including a boat ride) and especially the natural beauty of the western fjords with its red sands. We stopped at multiple sites every day including many breathtaking waterfalls and, of course, the geyser at Bláskógabyggð. Jens stopped often so that we could photograph numerous beautiful vistas. Each night our accommodations were mostly in very rural areas, where the owners decided to put up nicely designed rooms with comfort similar to a city hotel room. Most of the meals were either lamb or fish, but that doesn’t adequately describe the quality and creativity of the food preparation, which, in many cases, we would consider gourmet. There is considerable walking and climbing, but mostly easily done by our group that averaged low to mid ‘70s. Walking stick(s) are highly recommended, as are waterproof hiking boots. For the few sites that were challenging, Jens, made it clear that climbing the full distance was not required. Jens spiced up the trip reading ghost stories (e.g., about the invisible people). Also, when we left an iPad at a place in the western fjords, Jens arranged to have it taken to the hotel we would stay at on the last day. In summary, if you want to experience much of the beauty and landmarks in Iceland, you should look closely at this trip.

Great way to get see the highlights of Iceland!
My wife and I greatly enjoyed our Iceland tour with Fun Travel. Each day we made from 4 to 10 stops seeing many waterfalls, hot springs, glaciers, glacial lakes, lava fields, fishing villages, mountains, fjords, churches, historical sites, lighthouses, black and red sand beaches, and many species of birds including arctic terns and puffins. Jens Olafsson is careful to tailor the trip taking into account the physical abilities of his passengers. He used his knowledge of other tours to help us avoid crowds. He added a taste of cultural background by reading us stories of Icelandic lore. Jens gives background for each site on the trip and is good about answering questions. The excursion into the West Fjords was spectacular and missing from many other tours. We felt that this tour made the best possible use of our limited time in Iceland.

Just an excellent experience. Jens was so kind and accommodating - we decided to book this tour less than a week from departure and weren't sure if we could make it. Unable to find a decent tour after a couple of cancellation we finally reached out to Jens who made it all happen for us in such a short time. Not only Jens delivered more than what he promised, we had a great time with him as a tour guide and with our group which was small and fun. Travelling with 2 teenagers among a group of 8, we had the best time. Jens' folk tales at the end of each day was really a nice touch and highlight for our children. Food was amazing which was all hand-picked by Jens for each location. We would really recommend Fun Travels for your Iceland Experience.

Thoroughly enjoyed this complete tour with a knowledgeable guide.

Every guesthouse was different and it was good to see smaller more friendly types of accommodation. The food was included and was always good.

We discovered many places off the beaten track that you wouldn't necessarily find if you were travelling on your own.

Waterfalls abound, walking behind some of them and getting drenched at others was an added bonus of your own making!

Walking is friendly for all ages with reasonable mobility. Experiences such as walking on lava fields and seeing icebergs and glaciers almost within touching distance was all part of the fun.

Would recommend this tour with Jens for a good insight into Iceland beyond Reykjavik. It is very good value for money and a fairly full on tour.

This tour, with Jens as our tour guide, was absolutely a trip of a lifetime. He took us "off-roading" in the van, to allow us to see and experience some of the most beautiful geological features Iceland has to offer. The weather was very nice during our trip, with the exception of one day. Rain nor wind keep any activities Jens had planned from happening. There was a bit more hiking than our group anticipated, but we all managed just fine. Walking sticks might have been a nice item to have on some excursions. The accommodations and delicious pre-planned meals were very enjoyable after a long travel day. Our small group made the trip even more fun, nice to get to know the others. I would definitely recommend this tour. Jens has an endless amount of knowledge about Iceland to share. The price was also exceptional compared to other tours we considered.

We saw almost everything Iceland has to offer: The Northern Lights, Geysers, Waterfalls, Glaciers, Dormant Volcanoes, Interesting Rock Formations, Fjords, Geothermal Vents, Natural Parks, Black Sand Coastlines, and Museums.

Accommodations were mainly based at quaint inns in rural areas; all offered delicious dinners and breakfast buffets. Andre, our guide, provided a wealth of knowledge about the country.

One bit of advice - bring sturdy shoes for short to medium length hikes plus rain gear.

if you are contemplating doing a self drive tour and you are an old fart like me, don't do it! iceland is much bigger than you can imagine, so many sights to see, often narrow windy roads and unmade. there are masses of tourists and buses and cars all over and you would be hard pressed to really enjoy your trip getting from place to place if you drove. go with jens at fun travel instead! a decision you will never regret. jens knows iceland like the back of his hand. we saw so many wonderous sights. one of jen's virtues is that he is totally organised which is essential to fit in everything. we stayed, overall, in extremely good accommodation and every place was extremely clean. very good breakfasts were included as well as excellent dinners. jens makes sure that there are plenty of toilet stops and lunch breaks. of course, lots of walking is involved, often over difficult terrain so this would be an issue if you have mobility issues. jens is a small owner operator. his tour is highly recommended. thanks jens for a great time.

There is no better way to see Iceland. I joined Iceland Complete in 10 days. Our guide Dori was fantastic, knowledgeable and accommodating and making sure we saw everything!! Beautiful and breathtaking scenery along the coast as well highlands. Enjoyed every bit of it from volcanoes, beaches, geysers, waterfalls, hot springs and other remote gems. Good accommodation at unique places like farms, guesthouses and golf course. Friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms and good food too. So happy to have joined this tour and made new friends. Jens (pronounced "yens") and I have been communicating for over 2 years now and with the travel restrictions easing, we were able to put a custom trip together. Our group of 11 friends were anxious to meet Jens and see what Iceland had to offer. Well, we were all so very surprised at the beautifully rugged landscape, dramatic waterfalls, geothermal areas and the most interesting people of Iceland. The van was very comfortable and our guesthouse stays were warm and cozy. The entire tour was awesome!

The 10 Day tour around Iceland was phenomenal. The country is beautiful. Jens was a very good guide. He kept the tour moving and made sure we got to see so many beautiful things. I liked that we were "off the beaten path;" traveling dirt roads over mountains, by fjords, glaciers, oceans, quaint towns. Many times we got to see unique views of natural phenomena. Timing was very good. Jens was able to provide good narrative and information that made the tour more interesting. He knows the countryside and is good at providing history and background. For example, he read small excerpts of amusing folk stories. Being together with a small group was great. No long waits; got to know everyone. Overnight stays were interesting: scenic locations, a taste of different culture, great food. I unequivocally recommend Fun Travel Tours. Take the trip. You will never forget it!
