Snorkeling at Silfra - absolutely worth it!
It was an amazing experience and Kris was a fantastic guide from getting us into the dry suits, guiding us during the tour in the glacier cold water (spoiler, it feels actually not as cold as you might expect,,,), all the way to the hot chocolate and cookies at the end! The visibility under water was really remarkable, you could drink the water if you wanted to and we even met a pretty big fish. Thanks so much for everything!

Arctic Adventures booked through 57Hours - Beware bait and switch
We invested 2 years of anticipation and several thousand dollars into this adventure ($3170 for the hike, plus $2000+ air, hotel and transport, plus 5 months of personal training $2000+) and were left disappointed and angry that the 4 day Laugavegur hike we signed up for was shortened to a 3 day express hike. We would not be hiking the 7-8 hours described, but 10-11 hours a day, over much longer distances in a compressed schedule. We expected to start the Laugavegur hike on the first day, but we did not. This came as a shock to us since the hike we signed up for was supposed to take 4 days, not 3 days; and not 11 hours a day but 7-9 hours a day of hiking to cover the 35 total miles. After considering the rush vibe of the tour, we opted to take the bus and leave rather than stick around for an unpleasant and potentially unsafe hike at breakneck speeds. We saw other groups head out to the first day of the hike. One group was doing a 4 day hike and had a wonderful guide who explained that she knew the participants were on vacation and she wanted to make the hike as enjoyable as possible: not to rush, but to take in the beauty of the trail over the next 4 days. They were starting the trail and going to the next hut that first day. After listening to that group and seeing them start the 4 day hike on the first day, we realized how much of a bait-and-switch had been pulled on us. After returning to Reykjavik, we took a separate tour to hike to the erupting volcano (18km or 11 miles round trip in 4.5 hours) which reassured us that we were in good enough shape to have done the Laugavegur trail: we were not the problem. The entire experience with 57 Hours and Arctic Adventures was poor. We were not provided with the experience we signed up for, and the attitude of the guide to get the group to rush and finish as fast as possible was not reflective of the usual generosity and pride that the Icelandic people share with visitors. Neither of these companies would get my recommendation and I will not seek out any future tours with them. We intend to return to Iceland and when we do, it will be with more professional tour leaders and companies that provide the services as described.

Definitely recommend this tour- the guides were professional, safe and knowledgeable. It was just challenging enough but not too strenuous and the views were amazing from start to finish. Thanks to Marcus and Barbara for being awesome guides, so glad we did this once in a lifetime experience.

Epic experience with an amazing guide Kiki
Done the ice climbing with Kiki who was amazing, the glacier was so massive and we only on small section off it, the walk up was breath-taking, so many things to look at and then the ice climbing was epic, we did a small wall to get used to the method of climbing and then we dropped about 30 foot into a mulan which the day before had been full of water (we saw kikis photo of it) it was one of the most amazing things I've ever done in my life, abseiling into the mulan was crazy and the views inside was out of this world and then the adrenaline was in full flow when climbing myself out. So happy we only had 3 climbing in our group so we got 3 climbs total, 1 easy one and 2 inside the mulan which was much more challenging. Kiki thank you so much for being an amazing guide.

    Incredible Mountain Hiking
This was an incredible and rewarding experience. Our guide, Deyan was wonderful and thoughtful. He went above and beyond to make sure that everyone was comfortable with the terrain and prepared for the hike. His expertise really showed and set the bar extremely high for the rest of our trip. The landscape in Landmannalaugar is not to be missed and even better when viewed from a mountain peak. A truly worthwhile (at times challenging!) hike.

    Memories for a lifetime !
Me and my boyfriend went for a 6 days tour from August 4, 2023 to Wednesday, August 9, 2023 and strongly recommend it. Everyday was a different experience, from waterfalls to Glacier lagoon without forgetting seeing the puffins so close and whale watching ! I thought we might get tired of waterfalls after a while... turns out you don t as they all have their specific charms. Our guide, Vjeran, managed to successfully hit the right balance of sharing details about history and stories without overloading us with info and giving us also time to enjoy the scenery. Managing a group of 18 people without clashes is an art and he did that really well. Really excellent atmosphere within the group. Vjeran also took the time for some detours and personal favourites, which was strongly appreciated. Would recommend it in a heartbeat as well as the guide.

    Not your average snorkel adventure!
We saw this excursion on The Amazing Race and had to try it. It exceeded our expectations. The water was so fresh and clear and swimming above the continental fissure was exhilarating. We highly recommend!

    Amazing experience!
The tour was fantastic. Our guide, David, was a true expert and informative. We visited a lot of must-see places as well as not-so-popular but beautiful hidden gems. If we had taken self-drive trip, we couldn’t have seen some picturesque sceneries especially in East And North coasts.Only local guides know it. Glacier hike was awesome. We were lucky that we walked through blue crevasse. Absolutely beautiful. Whales watching was also great. We saw two humpback whales jumping at the same time. All the hotels are cozy and clean. Most of them were far from villages and the locations were quiet and picturesque. Food in hotels were quite good. The hotel in Egilsstadir, Obyggdasetur Island, was an old farm house. It’s very unique and we experienced old Iceland life a little bit. They served family style dinner, like Thanksgiving dinner. It’s one of the most memorable time. Highly recommended. Thank you, David.

Great tour except for mechanical difficulties
Driver provided good information...but sitting in the back I could only hear about 50% of what she said--it seems the ceiling speaker for the audio system that was nearest me was not functioning (obviously not the driver's fault). The person behind me also said she had trouble hearing. Also, the air conditioning was not working properly so it was overly warm in the bus until later in the tour, when it started working properly. Other than that, the tour was well-designed and perfect for a first-time visitor to see highlights of Iceland.

    Iceland’s Greatest Hits
This tour - with legendary tour guide Vjeran - was packed full of amazing scenery and experiences, great food and accommodation. Everyday we were surprised with something new or different, making this one on the best tours I’ve been on with people from around the globe. We lucked out with a great crew, perfect weather and as I mentioned - the best tour guide, not only highly knowledgeable, but witty, energetic, good music vibes and patient 😂. Thanks again and I highly recommend. Cheers Brian

    Memorable trip
Looking back at this trip, it feels like another me lived a different life, and now I'm back to normal. It was fun to hang out with a group of people and learn from their life experiences. Our guide, Vjeran, is very knowledgeable and fun to be with. I'm very impressed by his driving skills, language skills (he knows SO MANY different languages), and altitude! I appreciate he shares his personal opinions and tirelessly answers our questions (imagine how many times he has to answer the same questions again and again). He always had good food recommendations and it never failed. I like his taste of music too! (music is important on a road trip :) As an introverted solo traveler, it was definitely more social than I normally do, but I learned so much, from everyone. Iceland, of course, is beautiful, many times leaving me in awe. It's the people part that surprised me and left me thinking. I am very grateful to be able to explore the beautiful country and know new people through this trip.

Magnificent colours in a diffident world
Great experience in the “real” tunnel with magnificent colours and stone formations. You need a good portion of condition for the three hour hike. Loved the knowledge and experience of our guide.

Good tour, got lucky with weather.
Definitely a unique experience, and very different sightseeing from traditional snorkeling. Luckily we went on a relatively warm and sunny day for Iceland, so even though we got a little wet it was still very bearable. Our guide Lynn was excellent and made everyone feel comfortable and safe, and got some great pictures of everyone.

I did the two day Silfra diving package where I trained to get dry suit certified on the first day and then dove Silfra the next and I truly recommend booking with artic adventures next time you’re in Iceland, if you want to dive Silfra. It was such a fantastic experience! I highly recommend Mino, my dive instructor for the two days, he made the experience a whole lot better and he’s very knowledgeable on the area and the dive!

With Nick behind the wheel we had an amazing experience on the 7-Day Complete Iceland tour. The stops are so stunning I won't even try to describe them, but rest assured you won't be disappointed. Nick is a master guide who seamlessly adapted to any potential issues that might have detracted from our tour. He orchestrated 17 people with different interests, ages, physical abilities and bladder capacities so that everyone could have their best possible experience at each stop. He is funny, considerate and great at connecting with a group of people on an individual level.

Our diverse group of 17 was clearly ready to enjoy themselves after the lockdown. We ate, sang and laughed together and we shared special moments that would have been impossible on a self-guided itinerary. This experience went so far beyond my expectations I consider it among the best travel dollars I have ever spent. My son and I have memories that will last a lifetime!

I wish to commend very highly on the team at Artic Adventures. I last booked with them in 2020 and then Covid came and lockdown but they refunded 95% of my payment.i decided i will return in 2023. Being seniors we had many concerns but the team was very supportive and lots of advise and guidance given which was deeply appreciated. When the tour began we had the most excellent guide Siggur who was so so good and knowledgable we were a small group of 5 despite the small number Artic adventures did not cancel the tour but the small group of 5 of us were incredible .we became a family and Siggur was part of us. I will certainly recommend Artic adventures from our own experience.the tour was great lots driving almost 2000km.but worth every minute .the weather was good despite april .we had very cold temp no doubt but sunny windy snow etc we loved the experience but no northern lights as it was too bright .thanks to artic adventures

Had a superb overview of Iceland on this tour! Very enjoyable. Excellent selection of places to visit, as stated on website (exceptions below). Itinerary full but not rushed. Very knowledgeable, experienced, friendly tour guide/driver who told us many interesting things to help us understand the country better and was willing to answer many questions.

Good selection of hotels, all comfortable and clean, all had reasonable food for breakfast (included in tour cost). All hotels had reasonable dinners on offer (not included in tour cost).

Bus was comfortable and not full, but would have felt very cramped if all 19 seats were filled.

Lunch stops sometimes had a limited selection of food -- not the fault of the tour, but just the way the country is, and often the driver/guide tried hard to avoid the most crowded places where many large tour buses stopped. As a result, lunch options were sometimes sandwiches bought from a supermarket. Not a problem for me, but for some, this may be important.

On some of the nights, hotels were in quite isolated places where the only places to eat dinner was the hotel restaurant (food was always reasonable) and the tour group ate together. On some of the nights, hotel was in a town where there was a small selection of restaurants. Not a problem for me, but for some, this may be important.

On one day we had a stop at a horse farm, not listed on website, but a lovely visit and very nice to have close interactions with horses that we had only seen from afar.

Booked directly with company and everything worked well (others in tour booked through 3rd party websites and were complaining about lack of information).

A few things could be changed/improved:
1. Website says tour is "easy, suitable for most people in fair condition" which I disagree with. In my estimation, "easy" would mean walking perhaps 200 meters or less on smooth flat ground at each stop. In this tour, to fully enjoy it, you'd need to walk maybe 1 km or more, uphill and downhill, on ground that is sand or gravel, at least 2-3 times a day. Also, glacier hike requires good strength, balance, fitness and I would definitely say it's not "easy". I'd say the tour at least "moderately challenging" to fully enjoy it.
2. The guide/driver sometimes looked at his papers while driving, and sometimes struggled to put on his seatbelt while driving. It was a little scary to watch as a passenger.
3. We inadvertently skipped one place because the guide/driver seemed not to know about it. We almost missed another place if not for another person on the group who saw the sign to the place, ask the driver, and the driver did U turn. Seemed like driver/guide was less familiar with that side of the country than others.

Overall, an excellent tour of a very beautiful country, and mostly successfully dodging the large tour groups (the country is saturated with tourists), just with some imperfections.

I did the 7 Day Complete Iceland Multi-day Tour with Iceland Adventures in November 2021. It truly has a great itinerary, the most interesting I had seen when researching offers from tour companies. Unfortunately, the itinerary we took was substantially different from the one advertised.

About two weeks prior to the tour, we were informed by email about the active volcano hike no longer being part of the tour, due to inactivity of the volcano and deteriorating weather. The active volcano hike was still being sold as a single-day activity though. Instead, we were to drive to Borgarfjörður on Day 6. That was a mild disappointment already.
Then the tour started. On Day 1, we didn't drive to the South Coast, apparently due to strong winds. Instead, we were dropped off at a hotel in Hella early, at 2pm, with no alternative activity being offered. This meant just killing time in a place that doesn't have that much to explore. The lost half-day meant we on subsequent days had to skip the Hengifoss waterfall hike and the visit so some other waterfalls like Dettifoss. We didn't go to Myvatn nature baths on Day 4 because they were closed for maintenance. Day 5 in particular had little to do with the advertised itinerary. Whale watching in Dalvik was cancelled, again apparently due to strong winds. In my mind, we could still have driven and visited Dalvik, Siglufjörður and Drangey. Instead, we didn't go to the coastal region at all and drove across the country towards our next hotel.

Now, I understand that Arctic Adventures has reserved the right to make adjustments to the tour itinerary, in particular with respect to weather conditions. Some things are out of the control of the company. That said, I didn't get the impression the company had appropriate contingency plans in place for when an activity had to be skipped. Also, the justification for changing the itinerary wasn't always clear. At least, upon request, I was offered a voucher to go on an alternative whale watching tour on another day.

Taken together, I think think this is an awesome tour on paper, but you need to be lucky for the conditions to allow it happening.

Dear Quest307745, We want you to know that negative feedback is appreciated as much as a positive one. Thank you for reaching out to us. The Volcano has not been active for a month or so now and fresh lava flow has not been visible. This is what most people expect of a volcano hiking tour, especially the ones who do not follow the activity regularly. With incoming winter conditions, the area is quite often affected by weather and the hiking conditions have become more difficult - both because the regular routes have changed and because of the weather. The 7-day tour is one of our best trips, but it is not a trekking/hiking tour so when we set out for a hike, we want to be sure that all participants can enjoy it. This has been the longest hike on our multi-day sightseeing tour so far. Please note that the volcano hike remains available as a day tour, a pure hiking day tour. Day tour cancellations are easier to handle for both customers and our operations team (everybody departs from Reykjavik where there can be more alternative activities for example). It's also easier to reschedule a day tour. It is a specific trip and people who book it are normally more prepared for a hike in various conditions. In addition to that, we kindly ask you to send us an e-mail so it could be investigated further by our complaints department. Our e-mail address is info@adventures.is. All the best, Team Arctic Adventures

Scary bad company - warning do not use this service. I am a very experienced world traveller having used many great companies. My wife and I were on a 7day tour of Iceland. We inquired before going and were assured masks would be required at all times. Catching covid in Iceland could mean an extended 3-6 week quarantine before returning home so we wanted to minimize our chances of catching it. This company does NOT follow best practices (or legal requirements) in terms of covid. It was a constant battle with our guide to wear a mask and ask others on the tour to do the same while on the bus. There were no accommodations for social distancing during meals. Someone on our bus was sick and coughing continuously. The tour guide CONFIRMED she was sick and still insisted it was impossible to require masks. We felt very unsafe and had to go our separate ways. The guide did not help us find transportation back or provide hotel info for the remainder of the trip that we had paid for. He would not let us talk to the person he was communicating with at the company. We called the main customer support and were told we were on our own with no support for transportation back to Reyjkavic. There were others on the bus who were afraid for their safety but were more afraid to get off because they didn't know how to get home without help. The company has not attempted to contact us or help discuss our experience with this guide. They immediately cancelled all our hotel accommodations and told us they would not give us help arranging transport back. Emails to the company remain unanswered for days. The hotels in the original agenda were not the ones we stayed at fyi. I am a frequent world traveller and really want to work towards finding a way for tourism to resume but this company will have to adapt or die.

Dear WorldFunTimes2 We would like to begin by saying how sorry we are to hear about your experience. Please rest assured, our company is following all the recommendations from our government. Safety was, is and always will be our number one priority. Masks are required on the tour bus, except if a person wants to have a snack or a sip of water. Allow us to point out, that each of our itineraries has a list of most frequently used properties. We do also indicate that in case these properties are fully booked similar property is going to be used instead. We are saddened by your statements as they paint the picture far from what is our company's standard practice. We take pride in our professional guides and safe and welcoming environment we create for our customers on our tours. Pro’s-The actual tour of Iceland was amazing. I felt like we saw about everything there was to see and our tour guide Adolf was amazing. You could tell he was an iceland native and really enjoyed what he did. Spending 6 days with him was a joy.

Con’s. 3 out of 6 hotels were ok. 2 were the quality of a hostel (very thin wall, broken bathroom fixtures, bathroom doors that didn’t shut, dirty bedding) and one was just a tad above. Not what I was expecting from their website. The Minibus we were on was old, seats were small, mic system was squeky, and wifi broke down on day 4.

We booked the 7 day tour but found out we were actually on the 6 day tour but would be left at a hotel and then be picked up the next day by another bus doing the one day tour. We were expecting a bus from Artichoke Adventures at 8:00. At a little past 9:30 a bus from One Day tours stopped and said we were coming with them, I guess they contract out to them. Unfortunately the day 7 was really a waste of time. the one stop i was really looking forward to we were given 50 minutes to do a 2.5K walk and eat lunch at a sit down restaurant. After eating we had very little time left to enjoy any of the walk.

All in all it was a good trip but there are definitely areas for improvement in accommodations and transportation.

Don’t even know where to start. This trip was supposed to happen May 2020 but due to covid we were canceled 3 times, finally made it Sept. 2021. The scenery was spectacular, waterfalls, black beaches, glaciers, whales and the VOLCANO! Be prepared, the days are long and the the hikes can be taxing but doable. Bring good hiking boots and good rain gear. The bus is small, seats about 18, 2 seats on one side and 1 seat on the other. Internet but no charging capabilities so bring a portable charger. The stops are wonderful and well thought out. The hotels are fine, I had read some negative comments before we left but what you have to remember is you are in the middle of no where, you are not going to get 5 star luxury. But, the hotels were fine, small rooms, especially the bathrooms but clean and good beds. The food at the hotels was good, not a lot of choices but they are small country hotels. The last night was in Reykjavik at Hotel Orkin which was older and not as nice. Our driver was fine, could have been more informative but was a nice guy. The only things that I would have asked was more information sent out when they change the itinerary. It worked for us, day 6 was a total change to the volcano which we loved but they should have notified us. Also one of the prepaid options and a trip to the farm were canceled. When we asked the driver he said he knew nothing about a farm stop. If you get a chance to see Iceland GO, I would recommend this tour.

Our tour guide, Carl, was excellent. He kept everything running smoothly and shared so much information about the country, as well as answering our many questions. By the end of the week, we really got to know the other travelers from our group and enjoyed sharing this experience with them. We had to miss the whale watching portion of the tour due to bad weather, but as we quickly learned the weather in Iceland is unpredictable. We saw some really stunning scenery and took hundreds of pictures. Our favorite part of the 7 day tour was visiting an Ice Cave and seeing the Northern Lights. We also stayed an additional day and took AA's "Into the Glacier" day tour, which took us to a large glacier and into the most amazing ice cave that you will ever see. We highly recommend the 7-day trip as a safe and hassle free way to see this beautiful country.

My friend and I joined this 7 day tour around Iceland in early October. Our guide Ronan was fantastic, super friendly and professional. We came across a snowy storm on Day 5 and the itinerary was disrupted. Ronan reorganised the route and came up with back-up plans for us to ensure we were safe and happy. We enjoyed very much the tour. The food and accommodation were surprisingly good. This tour is highly recommended for travellers who had limited time to visit this beautiful country.

We were not happy with our tour, we had great expectations but it fell a way too short.

The hotels were below 2 star, one of them, Wilderness was in the middle of nowhere, with no proper amenities or food. The hotels and all activities are owned by Arctic Adventures, so you are limited to the hotels and activities and two of the hotels had the same menu.

Omar our guide was abrupt and did not provide us knowledge, his information was very limited, asking him anything you would receive sarcastic / rude and weird responses, so we stopped asking him, he was more of a driver then a guide. on the last day the tour ended in the afternoon, and we had no knowledge of the same, so our half day was waste. on one of the tour days, he got a friend along in the middle of the tour for some aimless walk, which was not part of the itinerary.

The Glacier hike got cancelled due to bad weather, and we are still awaiting refund and have received no response yet.

Overall a very poor experience !!
