We booked this transfer through Get Your Guide - which is cheaper for the exact same service that you wluld book directly through Reykjavik Excursions.

Buses were clean, comfortable, and on time. We took the 9am bus to the lagoon and returned on the 1415 which we felt was a good time to spend there.

The only annoying thing was that the Reykjavik Excursions website had the timetable of buses for October and December but not November - so we made a guess and confirmed with the driver that there would be a departure at that time. I tried emailing Reykjavik Excursions to confirm the timetable for November but never heard back from them.

In any case - we didn’t have any issues using the buses and it was cheaper than the buses provided by the lagoon. Would use again.

An absolutely well-executed, flawless service provided by FlyBus Excursions. Picked up outside our hotel on time, delivered to bus station for seamless transition to larger coach taking us to the Blue Lagoon. Driver was friendly and informative; my partner and I were advised that there was plenty of flexibility around departure times dependent on how long we wanted to stay. On the return journey the driver actually checked where everyone was staying and radioed ahead to ensure that minibuses were waiting for us for a smooth return to our hotel. Extremely efficient and our thanks for making our first trip to the Blue Lagoon truly memorable.

I have been at the Blue Lagoon on 30th of June and I missed the 14:30 bus to the airport. I have had lucky because another flybus came from Reykjavik which was driven by a very kind driver. I spoke with him and he took me to the airport. I would have missed my flight, if this nice driver couldn’t help me out. I would like to thank him his kindness. Unfortunately I don’t remember his name, but I guess it started with B. 🙂 Thank you very much!!!

I have never experienced less concern for a company's customers (victims) than I recently experienced with the RE tour to the Blue Lagoon. My friend and I had this tour as part of an Icelandair package. The description was as on this site: "flexible return times." After we got on the bus to go (and we had booked the pick up and they checked our tickets so they knew we were on the tour) a person asked the bus driver about how to schedule the return. Then, for the first time, the driver said "no booking. There is only one bus and it will be there at 6:00." OK, well that was not what we were promised but we went. At 6:02 (I checked my phone) my friend and I and two others emerged from the walkway to the Parking lot to find ... no RE bus. We looked around and were told by a very friendly Airport Direct bus driver that the RE one had just left. We could see it driving away. We all called RE customer "service" and after roughly 10 minutes on hold I spoke with a rep who, while nice in tone, offered NOTHING after talking to her operations manager. She even tried to blame the mix up on Icelandair saying they should have told us of the changes. I asked why the bus we were told would be there at 6 left at immediately at 6. She said people have dinner reservations ... I was appalled, obviously, and told her this review would be coming. "That is your right" she said. Thankfully the Airport Direct driver, after dutifully making sure he had all his registered passengers, offered to take us to Reykjavik and we could pay there for the one way trip. Without that we would have been stranded. I visit Iceland frequently and will never use RE again if I can help it. Airport Direct (who I have used before) was professional and caring. RE was crass and inconsiderate. Choose wisely.

Dear Patrick, Thank your for your review. It is indeed very unfortunate that your travel documents stated we had flexible return times. This was the case before Covid-19 and we needed to start out with a much more limited schedule after Iceland opened its boarders and we started to welcome travelers again, as we could not know how many travelers we would welcome in the first weeks and months with travelling still being so fragile. Our plan is to turn to a full schedule again this fall if there will be no travel restrictions in place. Regarding the time we do pride ourselves in being on time for our tours and transfers and we do ask our guests to be present and visible at least 5 minutes before scheduled departure. As we also take pride in listening to our guests we will from now on make sure that our driver on the last transfer of the day from the Blue lagoon to Reykjavik looks around and waits for a couple of minutes before heading to Reykjavik. Despite your transfer experience we still hope that you enjoyed your time in our beautiful country. Best regards, Inga.

Pretty disappointing transfers to and from the Blue Lagoon.

The Good.

1. The bus was reasonably comfortable and we did get there and back!!!

The Bad.

1. The bus to the station arrived 30 minutes late and only after several calls. Given that the waiting point was a bus stop with no shelter in February, we were not impressed. The driver didn't bother apologising.

2. The return journey back from the bus station was also poor. We were directed to the blue bus but the driver them told a number of us that he wasn't going to any of the locations. The only reason that this is not a 1 star review was that the driver did go out of his way to drop us off.

Overall

I would either use a different company or hire a car if repeating this trip

July 18th, Reykjvik Excursion bus left 4 paying customers at the Blue Lagoon with no way to return to Hotels.

The driver did not count passengers prior to drop.

Nothing was said nor was a count of travellers done.

I asked when I exited to the Lagoon “Will the return bus be here?”. He said 6 o’clock”. A group of 4 of us were exiting the building looking for the bus when he drove off. We may have been 1 minute late.

The day before, July 17th, on a Volcano excursion, the leader did multiple counts and verification of names on a proper list.

Never book with Reykjvik Excursions. My first and hopefully last bad experience in Iceland.

Lucky for us a neighbouring bus was willing to let us pay 3400 for a ride back to Reykjvik or we would be stuck at Blue Lagoon.

Dear 175laurelynb, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We have put our pride in being on time for our tours and transfers, but perhaps 1 minute could be something we should look into, perhaps even 3 :), but we always recommend to be present and visible for your pickup or transfer at least 5 minutes before scheduled departure. I am glad to hear you were satisfied with our Volcano tour on the day prior. Regarding counting in the vehicles that is not done on the transfer buses as we use passenger lists and each transfer is considered one way because some guests only book one way, some go to the airport after bathing, and others might stay overnight at the hotel at the Blue lagoon. On our day tours it is of course necessary as the same group of people returns to the city with the same bus, but again that varies with Blue lagoon transfers. Thanks again and we hope that you still enjoyed our beautiful country!

Wasted several hours of our day waiting for buses to arrive because of misleading information. Booked pick up at 10.30 and info appeared to say it could be up to 30 mins before, turns out it’s actually 30 mins after. I thought I’d booked time at the blue lagoon from 11-3 but we didn’t arrive until 11.40 and when we came out at 3 we found the transfer wasn’t until 4.15, despite the driver telling us it was quarter last every hour. We needed a car seat for our child which we had to pay to put in the luggage dept which cost us 800ISK.

Basically would not recommend at all. Used gray line many years ago and had no issues like this.

Very good company. Staff are friendly and informative. Buses are comfortable.
Made our trip to Blue Lagoon easy and even more relaxing.
Would only use this company when I return to Iceland.

We went for the premium package which included, free drink, 3 face masks, use of robe and towels. Use the products in the showers, my skin and hair feels fab!!

Awful bus company. They make up their timetable as they go along. Their website says a bus leaves the blue lagoon every hour, we waited outside for over an hour and once the bus arrived we were told we couldn't board it and needed to wait for the next one. The driver was very rude and insisted only 2 buses leave from blue lagoon every day, and insisted the timetable that says hourly wasn't on the website. When I showed it to him he rudely said that's an old timetable.... But it's the only one on the website! Two days earlier we had the same driver from the airport to Reykjavik and he shouted at several customers for no reason and told them to be quiet when they tried to speak to him. Extremely rude man and unreliable company!

Dear le371, Thank you for taking the time to write us a review. I would be very grateful if you could send me a line with the date and times in question (info@re.is) so we can talk to the driver in question as his behavior is not acceptable and we sincerely apologize for that. I also do not understand why he did not let you board the bus. Our website does not say that we have a bus leaving every hour, however for a period of time we had two timetables on our site, one that was live for this summer and another (printable) that valid from next fall when we will return to a full schedule. This did indeed create some misunderstandings with our customers so we ended up removing the one that was still not valid and have changed the set-up on our site. Regarding our timetable we had to start our slowly this summer with a more limited schedule after Covid-19 as we did not know how many travelers we could expect and are therefore leaving daily from the Blue Lagoon at 2pm and 6pm. Thank you again and hopefully you can give me some details so we can look into the driver in question. Best regards, Inga and the team at RE.

Does what it says in the tin! Well that’s after our trip got cancelled on the first day due to cyclone level winds. Apparently the blue lagoon gets closed once a decade though so it was pretty bad luck!!

We were lucky and got booked on a couple of available spots for the next day. After that, it was very straightforward. Picked up in town bang on time, transferred to coach and the BSI and waited for 20 mins til departure time. Coaches a little dated but perfectly fine and fitted with USB for charging if needed. No kids seats provided despite reserving in advance. We were told they weren’t necessary but I’m not so sure about that for a two year old..... he was flopping about all over the place in the bus seat.

Transfer was around 50 mins from Reykjavík. 5 min walk from drop off to door of blue lagoon. Word of warning after, make sure you get to the bus in plenty time for the return journey. It’s first come first serve (regardless of what return time you book) and a few folk had to wait an hour for the next one.

We had kids with us so it suited us to do the blue lagoon as a round trip from Reykjavík and not drag luggage about. But if you’re short of time, it’s best to do this en route to or from the airport. They are really close by and its actually quite a trek out to both from Reykjavík so it’s saves having to make the trip 4 times. Reykjavík excursions offer this option at the same cost. Just book accordingly.

Many thanks for your great review, we sincerely appreciate it. We do have child seats in place and all our coaches are now under 4 years old, and most of them under 2 years old :)
