It was a great way to visit some beautiful sights that even our 6 year old girls really enjoyed. - ESJEdmonton0 contributionsPerfect for a Winter DayWe landed at 7 am and wanted to book an excursion to ensure we would stay up for the day and avoid jetlag. This tour did not start until noon so gave us time to get to our hotel (an early check in allowed us to shower and unpack), and walk to the bus station to start the tour. Our guide, Flossi, was extremely knowledgeable and provided excellent historical and scientific information about our three stops. All three locations were spectacular. The only difference between this and the full day tour was that we had less time at each location, but since it was a winter tour an hour at each location was perfect.Written November 28, 2024

- MrAndMrsKey10 contributionsNot worth the money.I was excited to see the Northern Lights on the first night of my holiday to Iceland as this had been on my bucket list for years! My group thought it was best to go with a tour, as we were unfamiliar with Iceland, and didn't want to be driving around in the dark. The coach was taken to Þingvellir National Park, which should have been an excellent dark area, except there were four other coaches there, and that many people all taking photos and shining torches in the dark. Coupled with the lit toilet block, and the coffee van that showed up shortly after our arrival, there was so much light pollution, we didn't see a thing! I'd save your money and drive to a lay-by somewhere - you'll have more chance of seeing them than we this tour. We did just that for the next three nights of our trip, and saw them every time.Written November 27, 2024

I have never experienced less concern for a company's customers (victims) than I recently experienced with the RE tour to the Blue Lagoon. My friend and I had this tour as part of an Icelandair package. The description was as on this site: "flexible return times." After we got on the bus to go (and we had booked the pick up and they checked our tickets so they knew we were on the tour) a person asked the bus driver about how to schedule the return. Then, for the first time, the driver said "no booking. There is only one bus and it will be there at 6:00." OK, well that was not what we were promised but we went. At 6:02 (I checked my phone) my friend and I and two others emerged from the walkway to the Parking lot to find ... no RE bus. We looked around and were told by a very friendly Airport Direct bus driver that the RE one had just left. We could see it driving away. We all called RE customer "service" and after roughly 10 minutes on hold I spoke with a rep who, while nice in tone, offered NOTHING after talking to her operations manager. She even tried to blame the mix up on Icelandair saying they should have told us of the changes. I asked why the bus we were told would be there at 6 left at immediately at 6. She said people have dinner reservations ... I was appalled, obviously, and told her this review would be coming. "That is your right" she said. Thankfully the Airport Direct driver, after dutifully making sure he had all his registered passengers, offered to take us to Reykjavik and we could pay there for the one way trip. Without that we would have been stranded. I visit Iceland frequently and will never use RE again if I can help it. Airport Direct (who I have used before) was professional and caring. RE was crass and inconsiderate. Choose wisely.

Dear Patrick,
Thank your for your review.
It is indeed very unfortunate that your travel documents stated we had flexible return times. This was the case before Covid-19 and we needed to start out with a much more limited schedule after Iceland opened its boarders and we started to welcome travelers again, as we could not know how many travelers we would welcome in the first weeks and months with travelling still being so fragile.
Our plan is to turn to a full schedule again this fall if there will be no travel restrictions in place.
Regarding the time we do pride ourselves in being on time for our tours and transfers and we do ask our guests to be present and visible at least 5 minutes before scheduled departure.
As we also take pride in listening to our guests we will from now on make sure that our driver on the last transfer of the day from the Blue lagoon to Reykjavik looks around and waits for a couple of minutes before heading to Reykjavik.
Despite your transfer experience we still hope that you enjoyed your time in our beautiful country.
Best regards,
Inga.

July 18th, Reykjvik Excursion bus left 4 paying customers at the Blue Lagoon with no way to return to Hotels.
The driver did not count passengers prior to drop.
Nothing was said nor was a count of travellers done.
I asked when I exited to the Lagoon “Will the return bus be here?”. He said 6 o’clock”. A group of 4 of us were exiting the building looking for the bus when he drove off. We may have been 1 minute late.
The day before, July 17th, on a Volcano excursion, the leader did multiple counts and verification of names on a proper list.
Never book with Reykjvik Excursions. My first and hopefully last bad experience in Iceland.
Lucky for us a neighbouring bus was willing to let us pay 3400 for a ride back to Reykjvik or we would be stuck at Blue Lagoon.

Dear 175laurelynb,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review.
We have put our pride in being on time for our tours and transfers, but perhaps 1 minute could be something we should look into, perhaps even 3 :), but we always recommend to be present and visible for your pickup or transfer at least 5 minutes before scheduled departure.
I am glad to hear you were satisfied with our Volcano tour on the day prior. Regarding counting in the vehicles that is not done on the transfer buses as we use passenger lists and each transfer is considered one way because some guests only book one way, some go to the airport after bathing, and others might stay overnight at the hotel at the Blue lagoon. On our day tours it is of course necessary as the same group of people returns to the city with the same bus, but again that varies with Blue lagoon transfers.
Thanks again and we hope that you still enjoyed our beautiful country!

My daughter and I had a day booked for the blue lagoon for 9am on 19 th February 2024. We included bus stop 14 transfer from Reykjavík. The bus was due to leave at 8 am but did not come!!! We were there from 745am
It did not arrive, we waited until 915 and contacted yourselves to be told the bus came at 730 am !! We were told we were sent an email the night before re this. We were not. We received an email on 19 th February when we called at 930 am not before.
I paid £202 and we should have had 5 hours in the lagoon with two drinks and two masks. The next bus we could get on was 1130- this arrived at 1210
We did not get to the lagoon until 1320 through no fault of our own, we had 40 minutes !!! The bus to the airport was leaving at 1430 this is simply not acceptable. No one would help us with our complaint on site.
I am disgusted with this and for the disappointment to my daughter how we can be reimbursed for the loss of experience for her special day and the money spent .

I have been at the Blue Lagoon on 30th of June and I missed the 14:30 bus to the airport. I have had lucky because another flybus came from Reykjavik which was driven by a very kind driver. I spoke with him and he took me to the airport. I would have missed my flight, if this nice driver couldn’t help me out. I would like to thank him his kindness. Unfortunately I don’t remember his name, but I guess it started with B. 🙂 Thank you very much!!!

Awful bus company. They make up their timetable as they go along. Their website says a bus leaves the blue lagoon every hour, we waited outside for over an hour and once the bus arrived we were told we couldn't board it and needed to wait for the next one. The driver was very rude and insisted only 2 buses leave from blue lagoon every day, and insisted the timetable that says hourly wasn't on the website. When I showed it to him he rudely said that's an old timetable.... But it's the only one on the website! Two days earlier we had the same driver from the airport to Reykjavik and he shouted at several customers for no reason and told them to be quiet when they tried to speak to him. Extremely rude man and unreliable company!

Dear le371,
Thank you for taking the time to write us a review.
I would be very grateful if you could send me a line with the date and times in question (info@re.is) so we can talk to the driver in question as his behavior is not acceptable and we sincerely apologize for that. I also do not understand why he did not let you board the bus.
Our website does not say that we have a bus leaving every hour, however for a period of time we had two timetables on our site, one that was live for this summer and another (printable) that valid from next fall when we will return to a full schedule. This did indeed create some misunderstandings with our customers so we ended up removing the one that was still not valid and have changed the set-up on our site.
Regarding our timetable we had to start our slowly this summer with a more limited schedule after Covid-19 as we did not know how many travelers we could expect and are therefore leaving daily from the Blue Lagoon at 2pm and 6pm.
Thank you again and hopefully you can give me some details so we can look into the driver in question.
Best regards,
Inga and the team at RE.

Pretty disappointing transfers to and from the Blue Lagoon.
The Good.
1. The bus was reasonably comfortable and we did get there and back!!!
The Bad.
1. The bus to the station arrived 30 minutes late and only after several calls. Given that the waiting point was a bus stop with no shelter in February, we were not impressed. The driver didn't bother apologising.
2. The return journey back from the bus station was also poor. We were directed to the blue bus but the driver them told a number of us that he wasn't going to any of the locations. The only reason that this is not a 1 star review was that the driver did go out of his way to drop us off.
Overall
I would either use a different company or hire a car if repeating this trip

Shocking customer service. The bus driver drove off and didn’t wait for anyone and when we called up customer service to complain they didn’t even know what day of the week it was! I would strongly advise to book your tour with someone else as the service is a shambles and I would never use this company again!!!!! We booked two tours and the second one didn’t even bother to go because the first one was such a shambles, so we lost our money.
Avoid this at all costs

Flawless. The pickup was on time, connection comfortable with free WiFi, and the returns open ended so we could take our time.
In a wider sense they were extremely accommodating. We went on 5 tours over the week and they were brilliant. Buses always on time, tour guides friendly and knowledgeable, customer services understanding and friendly.
There was 1 tour which was cancelled because of weather, we rebooked to another day but missed the pick up bus (100% our fault). They were so accommodating with us after this, trying to get us rebooked onto another tour butt unfortunately we weren't able. In the end we were refunded, which they absolutely didn't have to do.
Brilliant company, will be using again

Wasted several hours of our day waiting for buses to arrive because of misleading information. Booked pick up at 10.30 and info appeared to say it could be up to 30 mins before, turns out it’s actually 30 mins after. I thought I’d booked time at the blue lagoon from 11-3 but we didn’t arrive until 11.40 and when we came out at 3 we found the transfer wasn’t until 4.15, despite the driver telling us it was quarter last every hour. We needed a car seat for our child which we had to pay to put in the luggage dept which cost us 800ISK.
Basically would not recommend at all. Used gray line many years ago and had no issues like this.

Pick up booked for 9:30 bus stop 9, to Bus terminal where we boarded 10 am bus for the Blue Lagoon. Arrived in good time for our 11am booked entry. The bus driver told us to pick up return bus at same spot we were dropped off. Return bus timetable shows hourly. Efficient service with all our names on the driver’s list.

Hi we are staying at Reykavik Harbor Apartments in June and are interested in booking the RT coach transfer to Blue Lagoon for three persons. We have 12:00 reservations for the Lagoon. I have three questions. Do you provide pickup from this location or do we need to go to a central pickup location? Should we plan on the 11:00 AM coach trip to Blue Lagoon? What are the arrangements for return to Reykavik, do we need to schedule a time or just get on the next available coach when we are finished?

Hi, if I book the 12pm bus tour, what time shall I book the blue lagoon for? 2pm? How long do you get at the blue lagoon, before the return bus journey? Any tips? Thank you.

It takes 45mins from Rekjavik, so 12noon seems a good time for 2.0pm, you are not allowed in until your booked time, but have a coffee while you wait for your time allocated . No time limit to be in pool.
