Great tour overall. Ester really made this tour what it was and my wife & I really liked that she incorporated some memories of her own youth, along with some non-food highlights along the route (buildings, streets, places she would recommend seeing, etc.). We also liked the food selections - offerings that were traditional Icelandic - the lamb meat soup, the fish soup, fin whale, even the traditional fermented shark. This is also the first food tour we’ve been on where the tour guide offered to take, and securely share, pictures from the tour with us.

Overall a very nice tour

PROS
* Excellent variety of food. We had some new Icelandic favorites along with some traditional foods. Everything was very authentically Icelandic.
* Very knowledgeable tour guide. She knew her way around the city. She stopped at a few points of interest along the way and gave us some additional knowledge, and was very friendly with a good sense of humor.
* Plenty of space in restaurants. My husband and I have been on several food tours, and often times you are crammed into a space that doesn't really fit the group well. We did not have this problem at all. It was quite refreshing to see restaurants providing ample space to sit and enjoy
* Plenty of time was allotted for each stop. The entire food tour was several hours long, and we had plenty of time to enjoy food at each stop, ask questions, and socialize.

CONS
* The starting location seemed quite random. We started in an area full of restaurants, yet the first restaurant we stopped at was a 10 minute walk away from the starting point
* It was quite a lot of walking. While it was nice to see so much of the city, it was a very cold day and would have been nice to know we were going to cover such a large area on foot

Ester E was a fun guide for our walking tour of Icelandic food in Reykjavik. She convinced all (well, most) of us to try the grilled whale as well as the marinated shark. She was right on point as the whale was delicious (sea beef). The shark, well, it wasn’t as nasty as she warned us. But the whole experience was a joy. Highly recommend for first time visitors to Reykjavik.

We thoroughly enjoyed this 2 hour tour. Our guide Olafurson (sorry if I've got that wrong) was very knowledgeable and his relaxed personality really put us at ease as we were the only 2 people on the tour. Also on the tour was a lady called (I think) Anna who was very friendly and engaging. The tour started off at Seabaron with a wonderful lobster soup and a sample of whale steak. Next was the famous hot dog stand followed by a restaurant near the pond where we had lamb soup and smoked lamb. At our final venue we had fish stew ice cream and the dreaded fermented shark, which was not as bad as expected. All finished off with a shot of Brennivin. Can highly recommend this tour!

We had this tour on our first day in Reykjavik. Our guide Printiss was amazing. She walked us through some of the major highlights in the city and talked about Reykjaviks and Icelands history as well as a little folklore. It gave us a great intro to our vacation in the land of ice and fire and insight into their culture, politics and way of life. Some of the stops were interests points that we later came back to to get the full experience. If it hadnt been for the tour's introduction we wouldnt have ventured so much into the city on our own. We loved it and cannot recommend it enough.

After meeting at a convenient town square in the center of the city, our small group of 8 sampled a variety of foods at different locations within a comfortable walking distance from one another over the course of nearly three hours. Educational, fun and delicious. The tour helped us get our bearings for further explorations on our own. Our young knowledgeable guide made it a memorable time. An unexpected bonus was receiving some photos and recipes afterwards.

The food and restaurant selections were disappointing. One of the four stop was the "famous" hot dog stand for a hot dog. The last restaurant was out of one of the components of the tasting, and the first served the wrong item. The 10 items mentioned in the description must have included each individual bite.
The guide was uninspired and wasn't able to answer questions about Icelandic beer.
While some of the issues may have been a bad day, the hot dog was an absurd inclusion in the itinerary.

We absolutely loved this tour! Our tour guide Oli was knowledgeable and friendly and made sure we all had a great time. My personal favourites were the Whale Steak, the hot dog and rye bread ice cream! Everything was tasty though so it was hard to pick favourites! I thought this was expensive when I booked it, but you are very well fed so it's definitely worth it. We did this tour on our first full day and it's a great way to explore the city. Definitely go on this tour if you're visiting Reykjavik.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience on the food tour! Our guide Victor was incredibly insightful and knowledgeable about each restaurant and food that we tried. Everything was also delicious and displayed a great variety of food that Iceland has to offer. We would definitely go on this tour again!

It was great to have the chance to sample a wide array of traditional Icelandic foods. The guide also provided helpful information about the sights around the city as we were walking around. We got to try small portions of many things, including some very unusual (from our perspective) cuisine. Depending on your preference, this could be a positive thing or a negative. I loved the chance to try lots of things and preferred that to having a larger portion of fewer items. I also enjoy trying "weird" foods. My husband, who is not as much of a foodie, struggled more and did not much enjoy the experience.
