What a wonderful tour we had on Saturday, June 19, with Stefan! He was extremely knowledgeable and gave us quite an overview on Reykjavik, with some added personal experiences. Stefan was friendly, yet professional. Our favorite parts of the tour were our “Viking” arriving on a electric scooter 😀, and the stories about the elves (Yes, we believe). W’d highly recommend this tour for anyone who would enjoy learning the history of this lovely city.

This was a great way to spend a Sunday morning. We should have been a group of 13 but four did not arrive so it was a small group of 9 which were taken at a leisurely stroll around the principal sights. Our entertaining and informative guide, Gardar , pitched his presentation perfectly, with just enough about the history of this fascinating city to keep everyone’s interest. He spoke fluent English and the walk was at a sensible pace so that we could all hear what was being said on our way.

A very worthwhile tour.

We learned so much about Iceland, not only the facts but the character of the people, the rationality of the government (as Americans we are jealous!), and the history. Our guide, Ester, was so knowledgeable and was able to answer every question we had. It was an outstanding value and I would highly recommend starting here on your first visit to this beautiful country.

We were really excited about this tour, because we love history. It was our first day in the city and we wanted to learn everything about it, get our bearings, and soak everything in. I think this could have been an interesting tour, but our guide was incredibly boring. The pace was VERY slow. We did not learn much, because she spent so much time talking about personal stories or getting distracted by other things and then talking about that instead. The tour was supposed to be 2 hours but we went over by about 15-20 minutes and it honestly wasn't worth it.

A few days later, we went to the National Museum of Iceland and we wish we had simply done that on day one. We certainly learned more about Iceland there.

The only good thing about this tour was that it kept us moving while we were very tired from our flight and we did start to get our bearings. This may be a great tour with a different guide - unfortunately, we will never know.

We had an awesome time seeing the sights of Reykjavik with Stefan! He gave us some really interesting history lessons, as well as great recomendations for food and other things to do. Stefan was super nice, funny, and easy to talk to.
I'd definitely recommend anyone to take this tour at the start of their trip to help get your bearings and find out some really cool information about the city.
We also really wanted to come and do the folklore tour but we didn't have the chance, as it was only a short trip for us, but we plan on coming back and will certainly be booking it for our next holiday here!

Starting at the city center, our tour guide Bryndís, a welcoming, intelligent, and enthusiastic 8th generation Icelander, strolled us up and down streets great and small, giving us so many wonderful insights, from the acoustics in the iconic Hallgrímskirkja church, to the history of the city's founding, to the location of what she feels is the best bakery in town (and that's barely scratching the surface!) She always had a ready smile and answer, and her pride and connection to her family and country's history was very apparent. I was told this was something I should try the moment I was settled in my hostel so I could get my bearings in the city, and I'm so glad I did. It made me a lot more confident navigating my way after too, and I confess, it also ignited a huge interest in me regarding the Icelandic language, as well as helped guide my choices about what I would do for the rest of my stay! Thank you so much Bryndís and Your Friend in Reykjavik; I'll be back for more when I get to visit your beautiful country again some day.

Our guide was fabulous. He was funny, informative, learned names almost instantly, personable, accommodating, and engaging. It was our first day in Reykjavik and we learned much about the history of the city. As a bonus we got great recommendations of other things to do, places to visit, and restaurants during the remainder of our stay. I would highly recommend this tour.

We went on a tour with Stefán on Easter Monday, the first day of our holiday and what a great tour it was.

We expected to be part of a small group but because of the date we ended up on a private tour!

Stefán was really friendly and extremely knowledgeable. He told us the history of Iceland itself before moving on to specific information about Reykjavik including elvish folklore (we had to mention the elves, we don't want to upset them).

We visited a number of key sites around the city learning the history of each in turn.

Stefán was really considerate of the fact that it was a day off for most of the locals, particularly when we were near people's homes and after pointing items out we moved out of earshot of them before we stopped and were given a full explanation.

Every question we asked was answered without any hesitation and was really clear and detailed.

We would recommend this tour with Stefán to anyone visiting Reykjavik. Not only does it help you learn the history of the area from a local who really knows his stuff but it also helps get your bearings of where things are that you might want to go back to on your own.

My husband and I had a great morning with Bardi as he took us round Reykjavik. Bardi is an excellent guide and storyteller. We learnt so much as we walked round and even managed to see a rehearsal for a concert. The tour was very interesting and entertaining and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this as part of a visit to this amazing and fascinating city.

We had a fabulous time on our walking tour with Bardi Gudmundsson. Our group was small - only 4 people. Bardi's pace was perfect. He was personable, interesting, and very friendly. Even though this was our third visit to Reykjavik, we learned many new things from this tour. Highly recommend this tour as a way to start off your trip - to get oriented to the city - though it would be enjoyable at any point along your stay!
