South Shore Glacier Walk and Ice Climbing from Reykjavik
From $200.26
Get an easy intro to glacier walking and ice climbing during this 11-hour tour from Reykjavik. With a small group of 15 people or fewer and a capable outdoors guide, visit two famous area waterfalls and try your hand at some arctic sports. Round-trip hotel transportation included.
What to Expect
Begin your adventure on Iceland's south shore with convenient pickup at your Reykjavik hotel between 8:30am and 9am. Climb into a rugged tour vehicle with your outdoors guide and small group of 15 travelers or fewer.

Set out for Sólheimajökull glacier, enjoying the scenery and listening to narration from your guide on the way. Once you arrive, embark on a glacier walk, stopping at both the Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls. Other sights on the glacier walk include deep crevasses, ridges, and water cauldrons.

Once the group finds a suitable spot for some introductory ice climbing, you'll get a primer from your guide and rig up the climbing gear. Gather up your courage and give it a shot; make sure your friends and family snap some photos of you hanging off the side of a glacier by your crampons.

At the end of your 11-hour day of adventure, return to your Reykjavik hotel for drop-off.

I thought the hike was a little over 2 hours on the glacier itself.
