Booked via GET YOUR GUIDE for the Golden Circle and Glacier Snowmobile tour with hotel pick up. The activities themselves were great, especially the snowmobiling tour, but overall organisation and communication were lacking leaving us feeling rushed and stressed throughout the day.

We weren't told until we stopped at Geysir that this would be our only chance to get food (which almost meant missing lunch but we were able to get a sandwich to eat on the bus) as we were going straight to the snowmobiling at Gulfoss. We were supposed to see the waterfall after but we're given 2 minutes for a quick photo and then had to leave as we were 'late' returning from the glacier and had to pick up other passengers at the Secret Lagoon and to rush back for the Northern Lights tour.

Raga, our second driver/ guide, was excellent and the tablet-guides were interesting (although we only had them for half of the tour) but otherwise nothing to recommend this company - better to book the snowmobiling directly with Mountaineers of Iceland (who run the tour anyway) and visit the Golden Circle by car or with another operator.

Thank you Denise for taking time in writing us a feedback. We do advertise that customer can bring a packed lunch with them or there will be lunch stops along the way. Customers can also communicate with our guide and see about the day plan and our guides will be more than happy to assist with information. We are sorry to hear that you only had 2 minutes at Gullfoss. This must have been because of delays that can occur on your glacier adventure. We can assure you that the schedule is respected and the Golden Circle tour is 7,5h long. We hope that you enjoyed these activities and you will visit us again for even more adventures in Iceland.

What a blast!

After an early start (7:30) the drove to Þingvellir National Park which we reached at sunrise - giving some great opportunities for photos of the beautiful views over the frozen lake

After that it was on to see the geysers - this was amazing and brought home the power of our planet and what is beneath our feet.

Then back in the coach for the drive to Gullfoss, where we climbed aboard the Mountaineers of Iceland off-road super truck, which is an experience in itself.

From Gullfos, it's a 1 hour drive Ito arrive at 'basecamp' on the glacier where we were kitted out with overalls, gloves, helmets, balaclavas. Then it's outside to get your snowmobile, and after instruction from the professional leaders we set off in a long convoy. We hit even 50kph at a couple of points.

For myself and my 16 yr old son the highlight was definitley the snowmobile driving on the glacier. It was like being on a different planet, exploring a new world. The views were stunning and truly took our breath away.

It's a long day, but well organised and executed by this company. The guide was informative and interesting, and the coach driver displayed great driving skills on some roads which had not been cleared of snow.

Thank you very much for taking in writing us such a detailed review. Golden Circle and Glacier snowmobiling is one of our best sold tours and now you understand why. Combining the scenic Golden Circle with an adventurous ride on the glacier is a once in a lifetime opportunity for most. We hope you will visit us again and join for even more adventures around Iceland.

Mar 2022 • Friends
We did a few excursions, our days were packed!
Golden and circle and snowmobile
Northern light
South coast and the waterfalls

I read reviewes before booking, (not that it would have made a diff as i was doing them with a friend who had already booked the excursions), and there were a few negative ones, which now 3 days into our trip, i really dont understand.

Its been an amazing experience, the tour guides are so good, i didn't catch the name of the gentleman with the beard... he was informative and happy.

The golden circle + snowmobile is tight for timing, but there are a quite a few stops so understandable. I would highly recommend the snowmobile experience. The pictures are epic! And the ride is exhilarating. Dont pay extra for single rider, bc your thumb will take the brunt due to the lever. At least its only 30 mins of torture on yr thumb 😆

We saw the northern lights! Again, the tour guides were so good. Recommend.
Its really really cold so dont forget yr neck warmer!

Writing this whilst on the bus to the south coast tour. Current sitch- the bus windows need cleaning, the dirt disturbing my view.

But honestly, book your excursions through these guys.

Plus we were late a couple of times, the bus came back for us 🥲

Over promised. Under delivered. Over optimistic on what could be achieved. We spent over 13 hours on this trip of which 10 were on buses. Despite being advertised as golden circle we were rushed through the parliament park stop and we’re given no time to see the waterfall.

The snowmobile trip was fine however I’m the journey there is far too long. The vehicle used seem ex military and was cold cramped uncomfortable with poor visibility. Traveller with claustrophobia would fine it frightening. There appeared to be other more modern trucks so why use this one? The truck also had a tyre problem so we were stuck for over an hour whilst the driver waited for the correct tools to be brought. Very poor planning and added to the delays.

The final problem was the time taken to get back to Reykjavik. The coach seemed to drive at around 60kph - perhaps that is the legal limit but it was painfully slow leading to delays getting to northern lights tours. We cancelled ours as we had been travelling in buses for 13 hours, had no time to eat or wash and did not fancy another 3 hour bus ride.

The people are great, scenery wonderful when you can stop to see it however this trip tried to pack too much in and became rushed and very uncomfortable and was very expensive.

Recommend using smaller quick coaches perhaps.

Thank you for your time in writing us about your experience. We are sorry to see though that your day was not as expected. We do offer a 30 min up to 1h time to spend on each sight, depending on the group pace. The vehicle used to go up on the glacier is a heavy modified truck, as not any vehicle can reach up to the glacier. Iceland was severely hit by storms in the past weeks, making driving conditions not easy at some pointes. Our driver does adapt the speed according to the road conditions and we will never go beyond the point when it becomes dangerous! We hope you will visit Iceland again and join us on even more adventures!

When we booked the tour, it didn't include a hotel pick up so we added this on via the company - Reykjavik Sightseeing. We booked the pick up for 7.15am to make sure we were there and on the coach by 7.45 as advised. A pick up bus turned up at 7.50am and we assumed it was ours, however, the bus driver did not have our names on the list but after we showed our confirmation he let us stay on...thank god!! We got on the coach at the bus hostel and set of to Thingvellir National Park but it was pitch black when we got there so couldn't see anything which they don't tell you until you have set off.

We then travelled to Strokkur to see the hot springs and Strokkur Geyser, this part was amazing and the tour guide for this part was lovely. We were here for 1hour and 30m as this was our lunch stop too. We headed for Gullfoss waterfall where the group was split into 2, 17 of us went off to snowmobile and the others were looking at the waterfall and then heading back to Reykjavik. We got on a monster truck to take us to the glacier, about 1 hour from the waterfall. When you arrive, you put the gear on, watch how to use the snowmobile and get around 1 hour on the snowmobiles and can alternate drivers. This bit was incredible!! The sights were amazing.

We went back to the waterfall and were told we will arrive back between 4.15/4.30 and to be back on a coach by 5pm. It was a different coach but had our sign in, so all 17 of us were there at 5pm only to be greeted by a very rude and unpleasant driver who wouldn't let us on the coach until the first group had got on and there was room for us. We had paid £190.00 each for this and we were being told there might not be room for us to get back!! The tour guide then turned up at 5.15pm after we had waited outside the coach in -8 temperatures and told us not get angry. We were eventually allowed on the coach. You can do the same tour with the snowmobiling with a company called Reykjavik Excursions who we did other tours with and they were fantastic, always on time and easy to get in contact with so I would recommend to go with them instead.

Did this trip a few days ago whilst visiting Reykjavik and it was excellent. Fortunately the sun shone and we had blue skies. It was cold but the company provide you with an all in one warm suit, a balaclava, helmet and gloves. Be prepared for a long day as it takes around 10 -11 hours. The tour does stop at beautiful places including a volcanic park, Geyzir a geothermal site, and Gulfoss an incredible waterfall so in all an excellent day out. Would definitely recommend.

The things you don’t get told about this tour ! The first stop in national park they drop you off for 40 minutes and it’s pitch black ? The guide was left uncomfortable dropping a bus full of people of here. Next stop geyser this you can see. You then join up with lots of other people to get another bus to the snowmobile. It is not just your bus there are lots and lots of people and this bit takes about 4 hours. Snowmobile is also in daylight unfortunately it was a white out and we could only see a few feet in front of us . If your lucky you might get back to Gullfoss before it’s to dark to see again. We had 5 minutes here before it became to dark . Then you have. 2 hour trip back on the bottom of the golden circle tour and you can’t see anything. This is a geyser and snowmobile tour. You will not see the golden circle in December. I emailed the company asking why they put this tour on they haven’t responded. It was disappointing.

Dear Trebor3017, We thank you for your review. We are sorry to learn about your experience with our company. Our goal is to provide an unforgettable experience to our customers and therefore we value every constructive comment that we receive. It is true that in the winter time, we do have a short window of daylight to work with. When residing on the Arctic Circle, life must go on. We feel this gives an authentic experience to what life is really like here, but can definitely understand the frustrations of the dark. This is our life 5 months of the year. We hope your stay in Iceland was otherwise enjoyable. Kind regards, The Reykjavik Sightseeing Team

Totally recommend the Golden Circle with snowmobiling tour with Reykjavik Sightseeing company. Hotel pick-up and drop-off were seamlessly efficient. The tour guide was informative and helpful. The geysers and waterfall were amazing, but.....the snowmobiling experience was out of this world. A definite 'must do' whilst in Iceland.

Did this day tour with Activity Iceland. They picked us up in a huge off road 4x4 super jeep.
Off we went for a few hours to to a glacier for snowmobiles.
Once kitted up off we went out into a pretty harsh and wild environment saw nothing as far as the eye could see all around. Stopped after 25/30 mins for photos then headed back.

Next up was Gullfoss Waterfall which was absolutely amazing to see icy water carving through the ice.

Geysir was very good again amazing to see all the snow and ice them an eruption of dyes and water.

All in al a great day.
