Could Be Better - But Not Bad
Mar 2020
Me and my friend visited Iceland in March 2020 and used Reykjavik Sightseeing to do the Northern Lights Tour and also the Golden Circle Classic Tour with the Blue Lagoon Entry.

We paid 55000 ISK for 2 people (330 GBP) for the Golden Circle Classic Tour and also the Blue Lagoon Experience. To be honest, the Blue Lagoon trip was just transport to and from the Lagoon - which is what can be expected, so there are no complaints for that.

For the Northern Lights Tour we paid 11000 ISK - which I think is a really fair price.

The actual Golden Circle Tour was - OK, but we were left a little disappointed with some aspects.

We departed at 1000 hours and first and foremost, the tour guide was quite rude to some of the customers. Later in the day I also felt he was a little rude to myself - nothing overly offensive but just not what you would expect as a paying customer.

The Golden Circle Classic Tour took us to three main places:
Thingvellir National Park
Geysir
Gullfoss waterfall

All were worthy of being seen.

My main feedback is around the use of the tour guide, especially at the National Park and on the coach. The company gave everyone tablets to use for the tour, so you plug your earphones in, and as you pass certain places the audio kicks in (recognising where you are via GPS), and tells you what you need to know about what you are seeing.

The tour guide does very little because of this. For example, as you set off, you pass the home of the writer Halldór Laxness. The audio will tell you to look at the house to your left. But what you are looking at is not confirmed by a picture on the tablet or by the guide. I looked out of the window and didn't really know which building I was supposed to be looking at. This could be resolved by simply putting a picture of the the place of interest on the tablet (or by the tour guide letting you know over the microphone).

This experience continued for a few of the sights that you see from the coach.

When we got to the National Park. Everybody got off the bus and got a briefing from the tour guide. He then unloaded a lot of information about the National Park and said "we will meet at car park 2 in 45 minutes". FYI, you get out at car park 1 and meet at car park 2 to leave.

We stuck to the main path and branched off to the obvious sights that we could see. But we missed the 'drowning pool'. At this point, I sort of have to ask: "why doesn't the tour guide walk us around the sights". We were inquisitive on the paths but still missed something we wanted to see and had no time to walk back up towards car park 1. I thought this was poor and is the main reason I haven’t scored the tour above 3 stars. I think the tour could be improved by the guide giving customers the option of doing your own thing or being guided around by him. For the waterfall and Geysir, I would say being guided around is probably not necessary as you can’t miss the sights - but I felt that for the National Park more attention was needed from the guide.

The tour finished at 6:30pm.

As for the Northern Lights Tour, I thought this was really good and really good value for money. We did see the lights thankfully. The tour guide for this tour was very attentive and professional. I thought he did a really good job (young man, may be around 30 years old with a ginger beard and glasses). We had all seen the lights for around 30 minutes and the tour was coming to an end. Everyone got on the bus, but when the lights got stronger he told us to get off and go and look again - I thought this was a nice touch (he wasn’t preoccupied with finishing the tour).

The only tips I have are:
Take extremely warm clothing for the Northern Lights Hunt - it was almost -10c for us and extremely cold/windy.
If you want to get a good picture you will need a proper camera with a long exposure/tripod (the guides had one of these but you had to queue. The photos were placed on Facebook the day after).
For the Golden Circle Tour - it is really icy so wear good footwear!
Take your own food as the only places to buy food are ‘tourist hotspots’ and very expensive!

Great Tour from Start to End
Feb 2020
Cant complain we had a great tour from start to end. Tour guide informative but not too much talking for the sake fo talking as some tour guides did. The waterfall was great the fault line great our only problem no Snow. It rained for the whole of our visit but we really enjoyed this tour and would recommend. The only item i would point out is in regards to the Blue Lagoon Admission. The desription of the tour may be accurate but the booking site is hard to understand how you book the Lagoon Admission. Thus they just need to make this more easy to understand that would be my only request.

Amazing tour
I wish I could remember my tour guides name but it was 12/4 the 8am trip. He was awesome and very knowledgeable about each site we visited. This covered 1. Thingvellir National Park 2.Geysir 3. Because we were a bit ahead of schedule we were allowed to stop and say hello to beautiful horses and last but not least 4. Gullfoss Falls. Everything about this tour was amazing. I was so excited to visit Iceland and I feel that this tour made my trip complete. I will however add that I was able to include the extra ticket to the Blue Lagoon, but I am disappointed I did. Because this tour takes 7/8 hours I arrived while it was dark so I was unable to appreciate this geothermal phenomenon to its fullest, so I would recommend purchasing it separately. Other than that this tour is 5 stars and I recommend EVERYONE who goes to Iceland book this tour!

We met the bus at the main terminal which was easy to get to and had free parking. The entire tour was amazing, mostly because of our guide John. Extremely personable and answered tons of questions. For a shorter tour it did not feel rushed at all. Highly recommend

Great Tour, Great Guide
Great day organised by a friendly tour company.

Tour guide - Ziggy had outstanding amount of energy and created a fun and relaxing ride in which he explained the points of interests and helped me take photos as I was on my own. Recommend this tour as it's near enough a staple when travelling to Iceland. He also let us stop by a see some Icelandic horses as a free bonus where we petted them and fed them.

Lousy scheduling by the operator.
Jul 2019 • Couples
We booked a 12pm tour which the operator cancelled with less than 24hours to go and moved us to the 9am tour. We were arriving in Reykjavik the morning of the tour(which is why we had booked the 12pm tour in the first place) so we had no other option but to spend more money than the price of the tour itself(for two people) to take a taxi from the airport and make it to the 9am tour on time. The people at the company were least apologetic about the inconvenience caused due to their lousy scheduling. Other tour operators in Reykjavik actually value their customers, avoid these guys.

Hi bhaskar89 We thank you for your review. We are sorry to learn about your experience with our company. Our goal is to provide a service suited to the different needs of our customers at a reasonable price and therefore we value every constructive comment that we receive. Unfortunately your 12:00 tour had to be cancelled due to operational issues, and you were therefore offered to either reschedule the tour, or claim a full refund. We are truly sorry for the inconvenience that this caused you. We hope to welcome you in the future to make up this experience. Kind regards, The Reykjavik Sightseeing Team
