The tour itself was fine, unfortunately luck was not on our side seeing the lights. Very positive regarding flexibility in rebooking if the lights didn't appear. Our first attempt resulted in no lights due to cloud cover, we were told we could rebook which we did, but the weather meant that our 2nd night was cancelled. On the last night we tried again, booked the tour at no charge, waited for 45 minutes at the front of the hotel and when I called to see where the bus was I was told the bus had been and we missed it. The booking info instructs you to look out for an all green bus, the first tour we had we were collected by a large white bus with the company name on it... but It would appear if you take this tour you have to ask every and any bus that arrives at your hotel if this belongs to Reykjavik Sightseeing as it is too much to ask that anyone calls your name out, or tries to find you. The bus we "missed" was a small white unmarked bus (apparently)... so beware.

Suprised as the spot chosen to see the Northern lights was quite close to the airport and associated light pollution. The guide's commentary was sparse with just a few references to folklore. Considering they were supposed to be trained in astronomy there was no reference to star gazing which could have gone a long way to alleviating the boredom of standing around for an hour and a half in the cold looking at the sky.

Overall we had a great view of the northern lights but the experience was not as listed. There was no wifi on the bus during the travel to and from the location, which was a major selling point. We also received little information from our guide during the ride. That said, being able to see the Aurora Borealis made the bucket list experience worth it.

Seeing the Northern Lights was one of the experiences on our bucket list. Our Icelandair "Lagoons, Lights and Flights" package included this tour. It is scheduled for the first night on the day you arrive. If the tour is cancelled or you don't see them, you can go the following night. On our first night, they were cancelled. On our second night, they were cancelled. The third night was a go and they were great. The 4th and last night we were there, they were cancelled again. So our advise is to book the tour starting the day you arrive.

We had a guide that told us how to set our cameras so we could get pictures. It worked. If she didn't tell us, we would have memories and one photo of us with the lights behind us. Reyjkavik Sightseeing has a photographer that will take photos of their guests. I did not see any other tour group doing that.

They take you to the parking lot for Lava Tunnels, about a 45 minute drive from Reyjkavik. We got to watch for about a hour before we left to return. Hotel pickup begins at 8:30 and you return about midnight.

Thank you for a very detailed review! We are happy to see that 3rd time was lucky charm for you and you experienced this natural phenomenon yourself. We always recommend our customers to book the tour from their first night in Iceland, giving them more chances to see in case the tour is not running. We hope the pictures will show you over the years what great time you had in Iceland. We are looking forward in seeing you again back on board!

After two earlier tours were cancelled due to weather conditions (which I totally understand) we were booked on one for the last night of our holiday. Weather conditions were very good so we were obviously really looking forward to it. Pick up from our hotel was from 8pm (you had to be ready one hour before the scheduled time) and I was in the foyer from 7.50pm. There were 2 groups of 2 people waiting at the hotel for the pickup. By 8.45 we were getting concerned so I called the company eventually getting through to someone who said the driver "had forgotten to pick us up". He was not interested in resolving the problem, and kept saying it was too late to even send a taxi as the coach was about to leave. Eventually he said the coach had left so that was that.

When I got back home I emailed the company for a refund. I was told that the driver had been at the hotel a few minutes early but had driven off without collecting us. Firstly I do not accept this because I was in the foyer 10 minutes before 8pm and no bus arrived. There is a car park at the front of the hotel so it is not possible to miss when a vehicle comes to the hotel. Secondly, all drivers/ guides who came to collect people from the hotel would come inside to get people if they had not already gone outside to meet the bus, so if the driver had travelled to collect passengers, why would he then drive off without collecting them?

My feeling is that the coaches were over-subscribed due to previous tour cancellations and that the company didn't allocate seats correctly. I've read in other reviews that people said their names weren't on the list but they were put on the coach, which was full. How can this be when there are already seats allocated to people like me and the other 3 people waiting at the hotel to be collected?

The only thing is that I eventually got a refund from secret escapes (not from Reykjavic Sightseeing). It's a once in a lifetime trip to Iceland and we had great trips with other tour companies and it was spoiled by this situation. I wish we had been booked with one of the better companies because this company's behaviour was totally unacceptable.

Our tour guide, Dennis, was incredibly enthusiastic (hyped up the crowd) and patient while taking our photos. He encouraged everyone to go for second, third, and even fourth rounds of professional photos, as the Northern Lights continued getting stronger and started “dancing.” This gave my companion & I many professional shots to choose from — really appreciated that!! Such a fun, memorable, and cold night.

We were very lucky that we saw a great Northern Lights show when we went! Our original trip was cancelled due to weather issues so we easily rebooked the trip for a couple of days later with no problems. The tour itself was good, and our tour guide was very fun and informative. The car park we pulled into to see the lights was very busy with lots of other full coaches there too and so it took a while for us to be able to park and get off the bus to see the lights but luckily they were still there when we got off the bus and were very visible for the next hour! The company also took photos of us individually in front of the lights which were free to view and download!

Overall, an amazing once in a lifetime experience!

We had booked in for the trip on our first evening in Iceland, but 2 hours before the pick up time we received an email informing us that, due to weather conditions, the trip wouldn't run. We re-booked for the following evening via the website and received instant confirmation. That next evening we went to the pick up location, where a number of tours were picking up customers, right on time our bus arrived and after another pick up or two we headed out of Reykjavik with our guide informing us in English, about the tour and the lights. Arriving at our destination about 50 minutes out of the city, we got off the bus and looked towards the North. The coach was available with one door open for anyone to sit in comparative shelter and a little warmth, which we used a couple of times.
Despite clear skies the activity of the lights was judged to be too weak and the trip considered unsuccessful.
As we returned to Reykjavik our guide informed us how we could re-book for another trip on another day for free. We were dropped back at our bus stop in the city and called it a night.
The weather was not good enough the following evening but cleared up for our final evening so we re-booked, again via the website and were picked up again that evening, a different guide, but again informative and again in English.
When we arrived at the viewing location, the skies were clear and after about half an hour the lights activity increased to the point we could see the colourful display and have photos taken by the organisers (tripod and long photo exposure necessary). We were at the viewing location for a little over an hour, everyone getting their souvenir photo taken successfully.
All photos published on the company's Facebook page the next day for us to download for free.
All in all excellent service and a great way to view the Northern Lights, highly recommended.

I am a tourist from China named Tianrui Su, I booked your company's Northen Light tour, Sun 8.Mar’20 @ 21:00 (RSS-T14462864).

My friends and I arrived at the Bus Station 8 at 8:35. At that time, there were many buses at the station. We couldn’t tell which one was the tour we booked. Before I could get on the bus, a few buses had already driven away. At that time, I realized that I might miss the bus that was supposed to pick us up. I immediately dialed your company's phone number, but unfortunately I called several times and no one answered the call.

Since we were not sure if we missed the bus, my friend and I were waiting in the cold wind. At 8:55, when I called your company for the eighth time, a staff member finally answered the phone. He told me that we had missed the bus and that he was not responsible for handling customer complaints. He told us that the driver arrived at the Bus Station 8 at 8:35 (we were already waiting at the station at that time), as a customer, we had to find the bus ourselves, and it’s our fault that we couldn’t get on the bus, which caused us to miss the trip and he could not provide us with a solution and we cannot get a refund. The next morning, I personally came to the front desk of your company to try to fix the problem. The response from the staff was: He couldn't solve the problem for us, and all the after-sales problems of your company could not be solved face to face. I must write a email. Therefore, I hope to express my dissatisfaction with your company's service through this email and request a refund. My dissatisfaction with your company's service are as follows:

1. According to your company staff, the driver arrived at the station at 8:35 and I was not late. When the driver arrived at the bus stop, he did not give us enough time to identify the bus, and confirmed that all passengers are on the bus. He got off the platform so quickly that we can not find the right bus and get on. I'm not late, and I think the driver should be responsible for that.
2. I have booked 4 tours in Ice land before March 8th. After each driver arrives at the station, they will get off the car and read a passenger list to confirm that the passengers get on the bus. If your still think your company's driver has fulfilled his duties, please show me the service policies of your company and tell me that it is my duty to “find the bus by ourselves” as your stuff told me.
3. Even if I missed the bus for my own reasons, I left my

We did this tour for the first time with violet but sadly the clouds meant the lights were rather underwhelming. She offered to get photos of us all the same and was very polite, they stayed out for an extra hour to try and get us to see them.
We went back for free the next night with Stephen as our guide. The weather conditions meant the lights were much more visible. He spoke to us the whole way there about how the lights are formed and various funny tales which made the 45min bus ride go very quickly. Violet the photographer took lots of photos which we hope will go online shortly! Thank you
