- paxrhodopicaf0 contributionsGreat trip with a bonus of Northern lightsIt was such a great trip!!! We had the best guide - Flosi!!! The tour is quite long but it is super worth it. We have seen great places - the Glacier lagoon was a wonderful place to see, very magical and icy. We even managed to spot two seals 🦭 🦭 in the waters. Unfortunately, the weather was too windy and we were not able to make the boat trip. Nevertheless, Flosi made the most of the time and took us to a second, more secluded lagoon that was also very beautiful. On the way back Flosi was so kind to stop on a parking close to Reykjavik to allow us 15-20 minutes to enjoy the Northern lights. It was a wonderful trip and we do recommend it to anyone.Written September 17, 2024
- Howard S0 contributionsMust see Northern LightsBreathtaking. We were lucky and saw an amazing light show. Forecast was low, but we heard someone who worked at the airport saying you can sometimes see the lights when it’s low. And we did. We moved up our reservation by 1 day so we’d have another chance just in case. Pick up was easy and then we transferred to a larger bus. Dress warm for standing outside for an hour or more. And Patience is a must.Written September 16, 2024

His voice was both soothing and engaging, he was knowledgeable and the whole trip was super smooth. - mireek20240 contributionsEnchanting day trip in Snæfellsnes PeninsulaI had a very pleasant small group tour, especially thanks to our guide, Lasma. She was flexible, even in unexpected situations, and always found great alternatives. One special surprise turned out to be the cherry on top. Throughout the tour, we were never rushed and could go at our own pace, unlike standard big bus tours. We had plenty of time at each stop to absorb and savor the experience, which I appreciated the most. Thanks for this wonderful excursion!Written September 14, 2024

Apparently guides are luck of the draw. Our guide was not particularly interesting, She did not flesh out the trip with antidotes that were interesting. Other guides are apparently quite engaging.
Sites themselves worth the time with the exception of the tomato greenhouses. Just an opportunity to buy a bloody Mary or tomato soup, Not worth the time to watch a vine grow.
The restaurant at the glacier was not very good at all ... food prepared well in advance, not particularly good and very expensive. Next time we will do a picnic outside. Restaurant manager pretty aggressive about pushing people through the cafeteria line. Restaurant at waterfall appeared somewhat better.

I guess the best part of the trip was to see some of the amazing landscapes Iceland has to offer, from glaciers, lava fields, mountains, lakes and hot springs. The visit to the greenhouse was fine, you get to have some hot tomato soup amongst other things.
The geysirs were very good to see, as it was a bitterly cold and wintry day, made the atmosphere and scenes more primordial - steam rising from the hot springs, wind blowing, felt like -10 etc.
The waterfall was amazing, quite spectacular to be honest. Something you might see on a David Attenborough nature programme - this was the highlight of the tour.
The walk around the American/Eurasian techtonic plates was also good, you get to see huge lakes, rock formations and mountains.
RE were very good and the tour guide was good as well. Timings were great, the coaches clean and comfortable. The driver was very conscientious on what can be very treacherous roads, especially with drifting snow as we had.

Dear Traveler
Thank you for sharing your experience. We are pleased that you enjoyed some parts of our tour. The winter in Iceland is unfortunately unforgiving when it comes to the weather and therefore the wind can make the atmosphere feel a lot colder. We truly hope that you enjoyed your stay here in Iceland and to see you again in the future.
Best Regards
Team Reykjavik Excursions.

The tour was well -organised and explored 3 very interesting, pretty and spectacular highlights of the area. We also visited a tomato farm at the beginning which was interesting; the fresh tomato juice is delicious! Our guide was great and had physics knowledge so was very informative when explaining the science behind the geyser eruptions. I would recommend this tour as an excellent introduction to the main golden circle attractions. I would also recommend taking your own lunch, otherwise you will spend time in the restaurant near the geysers rather than being able to explore that area more, after the initial intro with the guide.

We really enjoyed our trip which was very well organised by our extremely knowledgeable guide Gina, who gave us in depth information about all aspects of the tour and about Iceland in general. The places we visited were stunning. Gina even recommended Icelandic authors and books we might like to read and I know that at least 3 people from the trip went off and bought them!
Great driving from our driver Gummie - am sure I have spelt his name incorrectly!

Very interesting trip. Guide was knowledgeable. Plenty photo opportunities. Comfy bus but it is a hassle having to change buses at the bus station. Worst point = having to wait for late comers to join the tour bus or having to wait for folk to come back to the bus after the designated time! Ok we can all be 5 minutes late but 10 to 15 minutes at each stop means less time spent looking at the attractionsfor the rest of us who came back on time (sorry rant over)!
This was my favourite trip of the weekend.

Dear Brenda
Thank you for sharing your experience and your observations about fellow passengers. We do have a standard waiting time for our passengers in terms of tardiness. While we truly understand your frustration we do have to accommodate all of our passengers whether they are late or punctual I am afraid. However your observation is duly noted. We thank you for your kind words and hope that you enjoyed your time in Iceland.
Best Wishes

A wonderful day trip I would recommend to anyone, particularly those interested in discovering more about the geothermal power of this magical land as well as stunning views, including Geysers, Gullfoss waterfall and Thingvellir National Park. So much history and beauty all at once.
A huge plus: the journey was pleasant and comfortable, with stops in well equipped areas every time we got off the bus. The driver and the guide were excellent. So knowledgeable and helpful, could answer any questions and always with a smile. It gave me the impression of a genuine passion for their job, and for sharing what they know with others. Thank you Frosti! Couldn’t choose a better trip. 5 + star.

We booked the combo deal Golden Circle and lava tunnel. In the morning we started our tour to lava tunnel (45min ride), where we had an excellent experience and then headed back to Reykjavík. We had 30 minutes there for lunch, which was quite little time and then started the second tour to Golden Circle. The bus to Golden Circle was very crowded which made the tour a little bit uncomfortable. We were not allowed to eat on the bus. The Golden Circle itself was an beautiful experience. Our guide Thor tried very hard (a little bit to hard for my taste) to give us a lot of information about Iceland and we were not allowed to chat while he spoke. I felt a little bit like back in school. It was very informative though.

This was not my favorite Iceland tour, but it was a very enjoyable one. Highly recommend that everyone consider it (weather will affect the experience, of course, but on the day I did the tour the weather cooperated). Tour was well paced with sufficient bathroom breaks; all sites worth seeing (especially geyser and Gullfoss); and guide was great (dry sense of junior). Pick up and transportation back to hotel area also worked out quite well. An added plus was that bus wireless was reliable. Hint: make sure you have good walking shoes that can get dirty and waterproof pants might be worth buying depending upon the season that you do this tour.

I don’t usually do group tours but i wanted to be eco friendly since Iceland is small and already flooded with rental cars. I highly highly recommend this company (i used them the entire week for other things as well and have nothing but great things to say). Everyone was so professional and kind and it was well worth the money.
Our tour guide (don’t remember his name unfortunately) and driver were absolutely amazing and my mom and i just really enjoyed ourselves. The tour guide was just so pleasant to listen to all day, had such a wealth of knowledge but also humour and passion. I really learned a ton about Iceland’s history and geography. In general they were very organized about time, i felt like we had enough at each location. Also everywhere we stopped there were bathrooms or food if you need it. There were some small hills (the falls, the national park) so if you have issues with walking then you may want to inquire about options. Additionally when they were dropping us off at our hotels, if they couldn’t get close enough (streets small etc) when we exited the bus the guide also went outside and checked with each person to ensure we knew where to go. He seemed like a genuinely wonderful human being. My mother and i think he was one of the best tour guides we’ve ever had. Will go with this company in the future when we return, thank you!

We booked a northern lights tour, airport transfers, blue lagoon transfer and golden circle tour all with Reykjavik excursions and I couldn't fault any of it. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable. The golden circle tour was well paced. The buses for the tours themselves and the transfers to and from the bsi terminal were always on time. I would not hesitate to use Reykjavik excursions again in the future

In Reykjavik on Sunday 29th September 2019 on a cruise. Need to be back at the ship at 4.30pm. Do you do a Golden circle tour that picks up and drops off at the cruise berth ?
Written May 26, 2019
From what I saw, you get picked up from hotels around the city and taken to a central bus station to be transferred onto the Golden Circle Tour. Unless your cruise company has organised the pick-up's, I don't think you would have time to do that particular tour. We arrived back at our hotel nearly 6pm.
Plenty of other great things to see and do in Reykjavik.

We are visiting in late November. Do we spend most of the time outside, ie need warm boots, pants, coats, or are we in/out of buses and building a lot? Also, do you recommend hiking boots or are warm snow boots appropriate?

I plan on being in Reykjavík the first week of December 2018. Do your trips pick up from the Hilton Nordic’s?
Written October 17, 2018
I would have thought they do - most hotels have pick-ups that you get them to call to confirm when you check-in. We were just around the hotel from the Hilton & got a minibus pick up to the bus station to then get our coach which had wifi & charger points

I am very intrusted but need to know the exact duration since I will be on a cruise liner I have limited time. Pick up and drop off will be made at the harbour where cruise liners dock?
Written May 7, 2018
Given the vagaries of Iceland’s weather, I doubt it is possible to be exact about your duration. I would talk to the cruise line about how to handle this. By the way, the tour was the highlight of our trip.

We will be arriving in Rekkjavik on the Prinsendam on July 29 with a scheduled Golden Circle Day Trip. The arrival schedule says 8 AM and the tour leaves at 8:30. We just wanted your tour folks to know that we will depart the ship as early as we can, and hopefully, our bus/van will be waiting at the dock.
