Great & successful whale spotting - followed up by wathcing real lava - whats not to love!!!!
Great boat trip, we didn't have to go very far before we spotted some whales, which was exciting to see! Our guide had been seeing the whales for the last couple days, so we were lucky they knew where to go. Then you need patience (and warm clothes) to keep watching for them, as they dive down & come back up. The boat stayed out longer, to keep watching the whales. IT was a lovely cold & clear day and even got to see a glascier that the locals dont get to see much! The only think I was disappointed in was we booked the lava show with this - and we had to make our own way to this and so the people at boat check in didn't really bother or concern themselves with us booking this at the same day. They didn't know the times the lava show was on. So we looked ourselves online and then walked along to the place (around 15-20mins walk) and used our google maps to get there (as new years eve was hard to get taxis). Lava show when checked in was so easy and people super pleasant & helpful, great bar here (which warmed us up nicely) & souvenir shop had lots of cool & interesting items to buy! The person who did our Lava presentation was great" She seemed to love it and was really informative was lots of interesting & fun facts - on volcanoes & iceland! So enjoyable and not like any other experience uou can have anywhere else in the world!!

      Very friendly and knowledgeable
Would definitely recommend this tour, operators were very friendly and gave clear instructions. Whale watching tour was very enjoyable, cold but well worth it as we saw lots of whales with some incredible scenery. The whale watching left around 1pm but the northern lights tour left around 9pm giving us a break in between that we didn't know we had. The northern lights tour was touch and go due to weather conditions but still went ahead, the weather was very cloudy/ foggy with lots of wind and snow so no chance of seeing the northern lights. Having seen other reviews of this tour mentioning other customer's behaviour, I would comment that the whale watching tour was a smaller boat with a smaller amount of customers with the northern lights tour being a bigger boat with far more customers. While this dynamic often comes with less control and more selfish behaviour I would also comment that the staff seemed more lax than on the whale watching tour. Granted there wasn't much to see on the northern lights tour but it did feel to have a less polished service. Suggest the northern lights tour could/ should have been postponed for better weather but would overall still recommend this tour and operator.

A sea of inconsiderate behavior and a mist of ambivalence from crew
I will break this review up into two parts. Firstly the whale watching, this in my opinion was by far the worst of the two experiences. When the whales are spotted you better pray you are on the right side of the boat as otherwise you aren't seeing anything. What I mean by that is the other guests will create a human wall blocking you off from seeing what you paid to see whilst they record low quality videos for TikTok. This could be fixed by having a tv screen on the top deck showing you the whales through a camera rather than everyone cramming to the side to block the view. The alternative at the moment is to go downstairs to look for them through plains of dirty glass. The Crew do nothing to make sure everyone gets to see the whales and does nothing to police the other guests during the time on board. It was similar but not as bad on the northern lights tour where we were fortunate enough to see them but most of the guest wouldn't turn their brightness down this then made things worse for the rest of us, again there needs to be a member of the crew actively policing these things in order to insure a better quality experience for all. I would suggest you do a private or small group version of both of these activities so that you can actually see them and not have other tourists inconsiderate behavior ruin it for you. I know the company is not responsible for other guests but they could at least have had someone trying to do something about it. Probably the worst experience I had in Iceland

      A whale of a time!
We went out in very cold and choppy waters, but the company provided seasickness tablets for you to take prior to boarding, and I have to say they worked! We were a little disappointed that conditions meant that although we did see two whales, we did not see much of them at all. The first whale we were chasing out to see and then the captain suddenly decided to leave that one because of the choppy waters. The minky whale we saw next didn't really show very much, but it was still an awesome experience. My only negative was that upon the return journey back to the port, the waves were so choppy that my husband fell to his knees, which scared me considerably as the boat really listed to the side.

      Whales, Whales, Whales!!!!
A first class operation! A fabulous experience. It is amazing how many whales you can see so close to the capital city of Iceland, We had a ten-hour layover on our way to Spain and took advantage of the down time. The trip was well organized and the guide, Lucas, was amazing. Lucas was knowledgable and entertaining. Of course, the highlights of the trip were the whales. We briefly saw some Harbor Porpoises, had many views of Minke Whales, and a LONG, LEISURELY encounter with a massive Humpback Whale! WONDERFUL!!!

A must do in Iceland - Good value and easy combo package
I went with my brother and this was a great package deal for our last day in Iceland. It allowed us to have a bit of a later start to the day and gave us plenty of time to get back later to the hotel to pack for our early morning flight back home. We started with the lava show and were lucky to be in a small group, having front row seats to the show and the opportunity to ask lots of questions. The host for the show was super passionate and knowledgeable. Although the weather was a bit rainy and gloomy for the whale watching it still was a super experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming, offering windbreaker jackets to stay warm and checked up on everyone throughout the trip. We saw a variety of sea life with the host talking us through each spotting and what it was we were seeing. The length of time was good enough to make sure we saw a variety of things and increase the opportunity to see something, whilst not being too long that you were wanting to head back to land. In the return journey Iceland was hidden by a wall of fog and there was something quite indescribable to be following the seabirds back to port, slowly watching as Iceland broke through the fog and the harbour became visible. Overall, a great value experience package and I would recommend for anyone to do, with friends family or as a solo traveler!

      Whales sighted
We saw whales, so the trip was worth it. The whales were always submerged in the sea but would elegantly show off their tail or top part of body. This was still pretty amazing. It was an enjoyable boat trip due the birds, scenery and skillful calm sailing. Ive been on sea boat trip and felt badly sea sick, not once on this trip. The staff were helpful and friendly. Also the added bonus of photos being taken by the staff/boat. So could just take in the experience and not faff around with taking photos. The only slight downfall, is the amount of people on board, it makes it hard to get a view at times. Also was annoying when boat turned to face whale at 12 o clock, meant less view points/spaces to catch a glimpse. It was better sightings when viewing fir side of boat, 3 o clock, as more spaces for everyone to fit and view on the various decks. Even when other boats had gone, we still stayed longer and tried 2 different spots, so this was an advantage to ensure good chances for everyone to carch a glimpse. Wind was high, so crazy cold, there are overalls but run out quickly. Wrap warm, especially a snood for face!

No whale sightings, but still entertaining.
I couldn't give 5 stars because I actually didn't see any whales, but it was in December and you can't control nature, lol. Even though no actual whale sightings, it's still a nice boat ride that you can capture some beautiful views. The captain was very funny &entertaining and they sold plenty of snacks and things for motion sickness for free.

      Great, whales only in summer
The organization was good. Unfortunately we were told that February is not a good moth for whale watching once on the boat. In any case the crew and the boat are brilliant. Same for northern lights hunting

      Lovely outing on the water
Very enjoyable boat trip to watch whales and dolphins in Reykjavík bay. I was relieved boat didn’t go too far out to sea, and I didn’t get sick. It was very gentle. Guide was full of personality and was very knowledgable. We went out on the Andrea boat. Plenty of warm overalls to wear. Office staff were very friendly and welcoming as are all Icelandic people we met. Captain tried hard to find us a whale to see, he went all over the place and even down by the docks where he thought the whale might have been hiding but no joy. Saw lovely pod of dolphins instead

Not great , too busy / restricted views and much shorter time than advertised , book a smaller tour
If you have extra money and it’s on your bucket list I would really recommend a smaller boat to see the Whales and Northern Lights , the tour said 3 hours for each and we spend less than 2 hours on each tour. The Whale watching we barely left the harbour as we saw some humpbacks but it would have been better to see one and then go further afield looking for dolphins and other whale species. It was also really hard to see anything because there were so many people we couldn’t get the edge of the boat to look out, and it stayed head on towards the whale whereas if it had moved to the side more people could have seen it. The northern lights we spent 30 minutes sailing out , 1 hour waiting and 30 minutes back. If they had stayed an extra hour from 10.30-11.30pm we may not have seen them still but would have given us a better chance and it is what we paid for. So all in all disappointed and wouldn’t do it again.

      Northern lights
It's fine, but i do not go again. It's to many people ( no spaces sit down). Not many spaces to stand up. I understand we need information about safety. But i think it's too much. And sometimes i couldn't hear about what talking guide ( about trip, about safety, so was not clearly). We didn't been lucky to see much of Northern lights, what it's understandable

      Terrible
Bad experience, they canceled the tour and didn't even warned. They put a notice on the office door that the cruise was canceled and there was no one to speak to and we weren't even notified.

Don't expect too much like a bunch of whales jumping next to the ship. The whales are wild animals and not tamed dogs that rush to you as soon as they see people. You'll be lucky if you see a couple of dolphins, a few water sprouts and a bit of a whale tail. Expecially if the ship is crowder also because there is a full class of british kids on school trip since the place for standing on the front or on the end is not unlimited. However cool experience if you have never been on the sea yet.

Tip#1: If you want to visit the "Whales of Iceland" museum, go there first - they will give you discount for the whale watching.
Tip#2: You'll almost definitelly see also puffins on the sea so I'm glad I didn't buy also the "Puffin watching Tour" as I planned because it would be senseless
Tip#3: If you are at least a little motion sick, don't be ashamed to really take the sickness pill, it is really not pleasant the first half if you're not used to it

We did the Northern Lights tour on our first night, October 5 in Iceland and they allowed us to take them again because of the extensive wind and rain while we were in Iceland in hopes of seeing the Northern Lights. Iga was our guide on the last night. She was so good, encouraging us to be patient because the sky was really going to open so we could see the Northern Lights. Finally about 11:30 p.m. it opened to see all the constellations and then the Northern lights. The staff was great and Iga was the best ever. Thanks so much.

The tours was brilliant and our guide was interesting and good humoured, which added to the enjoyment of the trips. He were also knowledgeable and passionate about the subject, so you couldn't fail but get involved in the tour.
We were lucky enough to see 2 X humpback whales of the WW tour 18.11.22.
Complimentary sea sickness tablets are available at the ticket office and sea suits are available on board the boat.
If deck is too cold, there is ample warm seating inside with a café/toilets.
The guide takes photos and publish them for free on the company websites, which is a brilliant plus. The links are on the website and are easy to access and download from.
Our whale watching guide was a German marine biologist and kept us well informed and educated throughout.
I'd book with this company every time I visit Iceland as I cannot fault a single part of the services we purchased. Thank you to the whole team.

There are many reviews stating that no whales are seen on such whale watching trips but you must take a chance and give it a go. We were so glad we did! We booked a 3 hour Winter whale & dolphin watching trip with Elding from Reykjavik harbour, which at present runs twice a day at 9am & 1pm, weather depending. Wear warm clothing because the very best chance of seeing a whale or dophin is if you stand out on deck, however thermal overalls are provided. We were extremely lucky to see a Minke whale, which the boat tracked for some considerable time and some porpoises. The commentary is interesting and factual and there is a café on board.

We did a 2:00 whale watching tour at the last minute on our last day in Iceland. We didn’t see too much, a wonderful pod of playful dolphins and one minke whale, but not for a lack of trying! Other tours out that day spent their whole trip waiting for the one whale to show but our captain took us over by the dolphins who provided a lot of entertainment and we still got to see the whale. Our guide provided so much great whale information and had a real passion for them and for conservation. The warm suits were awesome because I was totally underdressed and it was very cool to see Iceland from the water.

Saw a few whales and a couple flocks of fuffins. The fellow stationed on a pulpit high & forward on the ship was very good at explaining the area and see life. He did that through a speaker system throuout the boat so everyone could hear him well. The provided warm/foulweather gear if you needed it free of charge in every size imaginable.

Excellent staff but smaller boats didn’t see whales. The boat Rosin was small and cancelled due to very rough weather the first day, rebooked for two days later and it went ahead. Smaller boat was faster ( assuming weather conditions allow for fast cruising ) , the boat was small compared to some of the other options and not sure this was a good thing . It was not full ( just as well) and it rocked about in the swell with waves coming over the bow and up to half way down the boat. Dolphins and puffins were see a lot and up close but only the blow of a whale was seen on a few occasions at some distance . The claim in the daily log on their website was that whales were sighted , which was not strictly true so beware. Obviously sightings of natural animals are not guaranteed but the trip was worth it for the dolphins alone . I think some of the bigger boats would give a better viewing angle and be less susceptible to rolling and seaspray

Hello Thank you for your review. We do offer always all passengers a free tour if their tour they joined was not successful, it is according to our conditions and best solution for everybody as we do provide you a 3 hours tour by boat with the crew and we do our best to make your time on the boat enjoyable with information provided by guide about ocean mammals and we also do our best to spot the whales, sometimes without a success but this is the risk everyone consider while booking a Whale Watching tour which takes place in wild nature and any human is not controlling. The experience was overall excellent. The tour guide shared so many whale facts with us. We only ended up seeing one whale but the whale came up many times. The views were also incredible. I would highly recommend whale watching with them. Plus you also get a discount at the whale museum which was my favorite destination of the trip.

Last minute decision booking for us but a definite good decision! We booked up for the 3hr tour where we saw 4 different humpback whales. The crew were so good at finding the whales and the guide talking us through was fantastic! It was all so amazing and informative.

One of the whales came up unexpected about 2 metres from our boat so the pics I’ve added weren’t zoomed in ❤️ best day!

We booked this as a last minute activity while in Reykjavik. Seeing humpback whales in the wild was on our bucket list, and this trip didn't disappoint.

We were very lucky as we encountered the whales within half an hour of leaving the port. The tour guide Daniel kept us well informed of what part of the boat we should be looking from. One of the whales came up right beside the boat, which was an amazing moment seeing it up close. After around an hour of watching the whales, we moved location and encountered a pod of white beaked dolphins, which are really sociable and swam alongside the boat.

While it was expectedly cold, it didn't dampen the experience and waterproof overalls are provided at no extra cost.

We would love to do this in the summer months when the whales are most likely in the area, we were just very fortunate to have encountered what we did. If highly recommend this trip of you're in Reykjavik.
