Overview
Many tours stop at Jokulsarlon as part of a longer circuit, but the majestic glacier lagoon is enough to fill up a full day’s itinerary. Relax while someone else drives on the journey to Jokulsarlon from Reykjavik, making only one stop along the way. You’ll behold the lagoon’s icebergs and volcanic beaches, and, during the summer, cruise beside floating icebergs, sometimes close enough to touch them.
What to Expect
Your trip begins with pickup from designated bus stops and hotels in Reykjavik. Hop aboard your tour vehicle, meet your guide and small group and begin the journey toward Vik, a charming seafront village under the shadow of Myrdalsjokull glacier. See the village and basalt sea stacks.

Continue toward Jokulsarlon, passing lava fields and black sand deserts. Upon arrival, visit Diamond and Crystal Beaches, where icebergs wash up during certain tidal conditions. From May to September the tour includes a roughly hour-long Zodiac boat ride among the icebergs.

Then, head back west toward Reykjavik, and stop at the Svinafellsjokull glacier tongue. During the journey back to the capital, stop at Fjadrargljufur canyon, a turf church, and Seljalandsfoss waterfall.

Your guide keeps an eye out for northern lights on the return journey. Arrive back in Reykjavik and finish your tour with a drop-off at your original departure point.
