About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 923lanan0 contributionsGreat tour and guideThis tour is not a full day tour and allows for drop offs at the Blue Lagoon and airport which has many advantages for those not wanting to return to Reykjavik. While our tour guide Starry covered information about the sites we visited, he also provided contemporary and historical political and cultural commentary which added a lot to the tour. The highlight was learning about his anicent lineage and family literary traditions dating back to the ninth century. In the US, many of us can cite family history no further back than our great grandparents so I was in awe of his heritage. If you are interested in Icelandic history as well as the stunning geographic sites, I definitely recommend the Geopark tour with this guide.Written September 15, 2024
- Scotth2270 contributionsA great day in Iceland was had.A great day in Iceland was had. Gummi related so many interesting facts and stories about Iceland and the areas we visited. The vehicle was very comfortable. Plan on a long worthwhile day, which is well worth your time. Oh and the restroom breaks were well planned.Written August 23, 2024

- Seaside151202680510 contributionsGoodThe tours have been very interested and average good service. But one day they arrived to pick us up an hour late without anycall or any information, till we call them. I would recomend them but they should be aware of this details.Sometimes during the process of booking the tours, the answer to our emails was arriving days after.Written July 1, 2024
- Rebyitzi0 contributionsDangerous Deadly Tour Company OwnerDangerous! Deadly! Here are photos of the driving of the OWNER OF THE COMPANY tailgating IN THE RAIN not only behind a car, but behind a GASOLINE TRUCK! At least 5 separate times, “Gummi” had to not only slam on his brakes to avoid various cars, but swerve to the side of cars to avoid crashing into them…including one time I was able to catch on camera. By the end of the tour I had a bruise on my chest from slamming against the seat belt so many times. Gummi…as a terrified passenger, I post this evidence and beg you to stop driving before you kill yourself, another driver, a customer, or any other innocent person!Written June 1, 2024
- Q2690FJsarad0 contributionsPerfect! There would be so much to say, but I think the right word is PERFECT! I booked two tours with the company and this was the best choice to my solo trip to Iceland. I did not rent a car so the tours were really important to me! And what can I say...they saved my holidays because everything was amazing! I saw SO MANY things and the guides, Trond and Ian....WOW!!! Funny, they told us so many things!!! They really were a good company and I learnt so much about icelandic history and culture. But, the most important thing in my opinion, they were so kind and nice! The company is ready to help, I did a call at 7.30 am about my tour and they helped me to reach the meeting point! What an esperienceWritten April 28, 2024
- Maria_lotus0 contributionsGummi is the best!Gummi was amazing, very informative, graceful, caring and knowledgeable. He was one of my favorite tour guides in Iceland. I was part of a 6 person group, although we were all very quiet I appreciated all of Gummi's stories. He made the experience and day tour very memorable for me and my mom. Thank you!Written April 17, 2024
- TumiSveinnS0 contributionsAmazing tripBooked the trip with GTI because we wanted to see the area without renting a car ourselves and it was so worth it! The bus size was small and cozy which made for a great ride and our tour guide was an absolute joy, you could tell this was someone who loved and appreciated the nature here. The tour covered so many different locations and sights that it was hard to predict what you would see next, we even went to a seal bay where we could walk up to them with only a few meters between us! We would highly recommend this trip if you want to see as much as possible, this area has so many things to see and this is the best way to do it.Written April 10, 2024
- TumiSveinnS0 contributionsUnforgettable tripWe did the glacier lagoon trip to Jökulsárlón with Gummi as our tour guide and it was absolutely incredible. Even as a native Icelander, this trip made me fall in love with the country again and appreciate how much awesome beauty we have in these glaciers and its unique environment, from the wide floodplains and lagoons to the beaches filled with clear ice crystals. We even got to see the northern lights in their full glory on our way back from the lagoons which made for a magical ending to the trip. But what made this even better was how much knowledge our tour guide had of the area and its people, from how it has been shaped by the natural forces that come with the glacier to the interesting and heartwrenching stories of the families that lived in the area, this intimate knowledge of the area's history is a treasure that should be preserved and we're grateful to have been able to share in itWritten April 10, 2024
- karolinabK8654JC0 contributionsAmazing experienceWe did Glacier Lagoon tour today and it amazing experience. We had an excellent guide Gummi, who has so much knowledge about Iceland. It was interesting to listen to him and even though we live in Iceland, we heard a lot of new information! 14 hours trip sounds so long, but the time passed very fast. We had many stops and enough time at each location to enjoy it, use restrooms, grab a drink or snack and we even had 2 longer breaks and could have proper meals. Highly recommend booking this trip! Also, the customer service via email was great, Jóhanna replied to my emails very quick!Written April 5, 2024
- Wanderer568923590510 contributionsWow wow natural beauty at its bestThis was on my bucket list and we had a spectacular day for exploring. Our guide and driver Gummie was amazing, the tails & history he shared was amazing. We learnt a lot about the Icelandic culture, people and history of the geology. For a very long day this was welcomed. I would do this again in a heart beat because it was just the best experience.Written February 12, 2024

- reebeekaah0 contributionsJokulsarlon, Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon, and moreOur small family of three (including our teenage daughter) booked this small bus tour to Jokulsarlon—we knew it would be a long day. With only 5 hours of daylight and winter weather we wanted to leave the driving to experts. Our capable guide was Tront (spelling?) a self-described descendant of Norwegian Vikings! He wore only a hand-knit Icelandic sweater all day despite gale force wind and rain and shared stories of his life and of the Icelandic landscape. Though the Glacier Lagoon was our goal, the highlight of the trip was by far the short, dramatic hike in Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon—we were stunned at its sheer beauty! A final stop at Seljalandsfoss—lit up by evening lights—and a short glimpse of the Northern Lights on the highway back to Reykjavik made the long trip memorable. (The WIFI on the bus was broken, a tiny inconvenience for those of us without international cell reception, but also a nice break from our phones!)Written December 24, 2023
- jemx10 contributionsBest day!Wonderful all day trip to the spectacular glacier bay with Gateway to Iceland. Gummi, our driver was very interesting. He picked us up and dropped us off right at our hotel. Glacier Bay and Diamond Beach are beautiful. It was a long day, but didn't seem like it. I would recommend this trip to anybody.Written December 8, 2023

We went on a hot golden circle tour on a sunny day yesterday. Our guide was Trond, self professed Viking we had four stop offs during the day, finishing with a relaxing dip in the secret lagoon, all in a comfortable minibus with about 16 other people.
Trond kept us entertained throughout the day with interesting stories and facts about Iceland in general a t the places that we visited. We had plenty of time at each stop to see what was there and didn’t feel rushed at all. The scenery was beautiful and I cannot think of a better way to see it.
Thanks very much Trond and gti tours

A truly fantastic adventure. Hildi (sorry about the spelling) was our guide. I have been on many tours but she was the kindest and most friendly tour guide I have ever met. Please pass on our thanks to her for making our day special. The tour started prompt at 10am and Hildi immediately made us feel welcome. A few stops to pick people up and we were off. The bus was very comfortable and the group was small. It felt completely COVID safe and there were hand gel facilities on board. Hildi filled our journey with fascinating information about her life as an Icelander and the history of this beautiful country. We arrived at the first location - the national park. As we approached there were clouds beneath us in the valley, what a breath taking sight! Hildi guided us around the fissure and explained all about the area. She accompanied us right down to the second viewing platform and was kind enough to take pictures of groups of people.
On the way to the second location Hildi made a pit stop for the young children on the tour - to a farm house that made its own ice cream! Ice creams cost around 800 ISK and were delicious. We had beautiful weather and were able to enjoy our dessert looking out at two volcanos on the horizon.
Hildi's obviously love and joy for her country shone through the entire tour. At Gulfoss she gave us time to eat and told us all about the history of this beautiful place. She genuinely seemed to enjoy seeing us enjoying her tour. When we arrived at the secret lagoon we were asked to pay to enter (not sure it said that on the description) but the price was reasonable and the experience was worth that a thousand times over. We enjoyed a drink in the hot spring and a relaxing hour in the hot water.
We would recommend this trip to anyone wanting to explore the wonders of Iceland with the added bonus of the hot springs! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to Hildi for giving us the most wonderful adventure!

We have just completed this tour yesterday 13.2.20 and we had a really lovely day. We booked because the reviews were so good and they were definitely correct. Our guide was Tront and he was excellent. As well as taking us to the named stops of the geizers, the waterfalls and the Lagoon he also made a few extra stops for example to talk to some Icelandic Horses and to an ice cream place ( where the cows produce the milk and they make the ice cream on site) (deliciousness). We finished off in the secret lagoon swimming outside at -10. The water was beautifully warm so do take your swim suit and a towel. We were picked up from the tourist bus stop at 10 ish ( I think it was around 10.15 as we were one of the later stops) which was a few minutes walk from our accommodation. We got back around 6.30 pm - I think that’s good value for a full days entertainment. At each of the stops we had an amount of time where we could walk on and Tront would move the bus so we just walked in one direction and got back on the bus. I think that’s a nicer way to see a sight as you get to see it close up. All the walks were manageable for most people ( unless you have any disabilities as it’s slippy, windy and steps in places ). For any of these walks you could just stay inside the bus and be driven.
Tront was also fantastic at telling us stuff about Icelandic culture and history.
The bus was a minibus with around 15 people. Very comfortable. There were also toilets at most of the stops.
All in all it was a wonderful day that we won’t forget in a hurry and I would look to book with gateway to Iceland again as the organisation etc was great.

We’re both 60 and travelled quite a bit over the world and I can honestly say that this is the best small group tour we’ve ever been on. Our driver/ guide “Trond” was excellent. Informative amusing and very efficient with the group. Top marks Trond the Viking !!
The tour was amazing with activities including the Rift Valley, Gullfoss Waterfalls, Geysir and the Secret Lagoon. A 9 hour tour with plenty of stops and things to see and do. A group of 14 well marshalled by the guide giving plenty of time for viewing, lunch, shopping and ice cream 👍🏻
A great experience and well worth the cost. Trond’s stories were worth the admission fee alone !!
Thank you

Our guide was Stefán, who gets a 5/5 for his courtesy, narration, and knowledge. Could nit have asked for a better guide. The Golden Falls, Geysir area, and walk in Thingvellir were amazing. Before this trip I had no experience visiting Iceland and this was a great starter.
I'm a taller person (6ft) and I felt the seats in the van were on the small side, so if you are a bigger person just be aware that you are going to be very close to your neighbor during the portions of the tour in the van. 12 hours later my back is still sore from sitting slightly turned so I wasn't too cozy with my neighbor.
Additionally I wish we could have spent more time at the Geysir and Golden Falls, but in February when daylight is at a premium I understood the need for brevity in order to see all of the spots during our time. The tour advertises that they get you to each area to avoid peak times and I feel Stefán did a good job of that. It was evident about halfway through each stop that we were hitting each area at a great time to not be overwhelmed by big crowds right away.
If you decide to swim at Secret Lagoon they have suits and towels for rent. There is an indoor seating area with drinks, snacks, and WiFi if you would prefer not to.
If you are looking for an introduction to this beautiful country then booking this tour is a great way to do that! Couples, families, or small groups will have more fun than solo travelers.

This trip was amazing. After we woke up to heavy snow and high winds we were worried the day would be tough. It was bad weather at the first stop so our lovely travel guide Trond suggested an alternative walk to the waterfall instead of the hour long walk. The geyser field was impressive and a great stop for lunch with lots of options for food, but we took our own. It was great to see the Icelandic horses and buy some treats to give to them (200 kr), they were friendly and came over to see us. The waterfall was very cold but it was great to see! The not so secret lagoon was definitely our favourite stop on the trip, we had an hour here (plenty long enough) and got to see the little geyser next to the lagoon go off twice. Our tour guide Trond was very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions, entertaining us with information and stories along the route. A brilliant day out!

We booked this tour before going to Iceland with gateway to Iceland tours online and although it was cancelled the sat due to bad weather the communication of this was great and we went on the Sunday. You go to the national park for a little walk then the geysers which are really good with good eating places then the Gullfoss waterfalls ( outstanding) then to the secret lagoons an experience not to be missed this tour altogether is cheaper than the blue lagoon on its own. Well organized and easy enjoyable day not too much coach journey either and you don’t set off till 10 am so no early morning rise. Back to hotel with drop off and home in time for tea, highly recommend. Our driver Stefan had the nicest guide voice too. Book with confidence.

I cannot fault this tour in any way. It was the best trip we have ever been on. Myself my husband and 9 year son all loved it. Trond was a fantastic guide. We were so pleased that it snowed it just made everything look so beautiful. Loved that we were on a smaller minibus and great pick up, really prompt.
We really did do much research into different companies and so glad we picked this one. It might be a bit more expensive but it's worth it for the excellent guide smaller mini buses and you never felt rushed all day. And the secret lagoon at the end of the day was beautiful. Its a fantastic way to see iceland without the stress of driving especially in the winter weather.
Thanks Trond for a fantastic trip

This was the most amazing trip, I cannot recommend it highly enough! Trond was our guide and he was just incredible; so informative, friendly and accommodating - he even sang us some Icelandic folk songs, it was brilliant! The Golden Circle tour is breathtaking and an absolute must-see, and with this tour having a max of 19 people it just makes it so much more personal and relaxed. Trond was flexible with times and also took us to see some Icelandic horses, which was a really sweet highlight. The trip to the Secret Lagoon really rounded off the day perfectly - I cannot praise Trond or recommendation this tour highly enough! Thank you so much 🙂

The day started well with the bus arriving on time and the driver Gummi introducing himself. He was a fount of Icelandic knowledge throughout the day and regaled us with many stories. An excellent tour where you are given personal attention. Gummi was a very experienced driver and the mini bus was smart and comfortable. Altogether an extremely pleasant experience and I would highly recommend

We are interested in this tour for August 15. Do you pick up at the Marriott Hotel Edition?
Also, the price says “from $145”. How much will we pay?
Thank you.

No, It’s a small group tour in a van. There are restrooms at all the stops though. I never felt like there was a huge time gap between stops.

Hi We’re are pretty keen to book this tour but will be arriving on a cruise ship for the day in July with the ship departing at 20.00hrs. I understand the tours start about 10 am and last about 8 hours which means we should be ok but I wondered if anyone had experienced a later finish time than 19.30. Clearly we can’t risk missing the ship.

Does this tour also off pony trekking for part of the time? If not, is there a Golden Circle tour with horseback riding for a couple of hours? If it's not this tour, can you tell me which one it is?
Thanks.

Hello: On July 30, 2022 we will be disembarking from our Regent cruise ship at approx. 8 a.m. and then having to check into our Hilton Reykjavik Nordica hotel. Is there enough time to do this and be ready to take this tour that morning. We have booked this tour for July 31, 2022 but think maybe we should change to July 30th. We fly home on Aug. 1, 2022.

Hi all,
I am planning a visit in late August. What is the dress code for this tour? Should I wear rain gear?
Thanks
