- 404kyliep0 contributionsGreat day tour optionOur tour guide, Emilia, was friendly, knowledgeable, and fun! We had ample time to check out each location and saw even more along the ride. Hearing about how each destination received its name and other bits of Icelandic Folklore truly added to the experience. Would definitely recommend booking through this company!Written September 24, 2024
- 840patd0 contributionsShort changed!!!!!We did not get to take this tour as our ship arrived in port too late for us to catch the tour. And there is no refund when you can't make the tour. According to the email I received when I requested a refund, the tour bus was there so that is the only requirement that they have. The ship was our reason for not being there and that wasn't a reason for getting a refund. And I might point out I really have no way to verify if the bus was actually there! So be aware of this if you are booking from a cruise ship.Written September 21, 2024
- exeagle0 contributionsA must do!Darren was amazing. Very friendly, funny, and didn’t talk too much. Highly recommend this tour. We got lucky and the weather was clear as a bell. The southern coast is beautiful. ThanksWritten September 20, 2024
- JPN550 contributionsA grandiose feast for your eyes!We were two aging couples [(80 & 72, 71 &69] cruising and we booked this tour through Viator. We had a delightful guide/driver and ended up being only 6 people in the van. We covered 4 'prime' tourist spots: The park with the two tectonic plates, Gullfoss falls, an extinct volcano and a geyser field. We got sufficient time at each stop. We were lucky with the weather, we got sunny breaks at every stop and a few showers while in transit between them. The temperature was as expected 13°-17°C so a light jacket/windbreaker was needed, even though it was not zipped up. All of the spots were very tourist friendly with walking paths and washrooms not too far. We put 17,000 steps on my wife's Fitbit on that day. The park with the tectonic plates was a downhill wooden path with interesting plaques and views all around, we walked essentially between the plates to a meeting point at the bottom. The slope is gentle and easy to walk and enjoy! A great first stop! Then we went to Gullfoss falls, a beautiful falls! We took lots of pictures of the falls and river. There were more people here, but still not what we would consider crowded. We did not walk to the closets points as there was a lot of mist in the air and we got our fill of great views from the elevated portions of the paved path. The we went to the extinct volcano and 2 of us walked all around the caldera. From the top we had fantastic landscapes to admire. The walk up and around the caldera is not paved and you have a few climbs and a lot of uneven surfaces to walk, but we have done far worse many times. Then we went to geyser field, which is quite tourist friendly with paths to walk on around and in between the geysers which some erupt every 6-10 minutes. We also had a lite lunch here fish & chips Icelandic style where the breading is a light charcoal colour! Easily one of my top 5 fish and chips. With 2 baby beers + 2 f&c = 92$ CAD, not cheap, but we would order again! At the beginning of the tour we also visited a spot where they bake bread in the ground (thermally heated) and we saw spots of boiling mud adjacent to a small lake. Our guided advised us NOT to test the water temperature as it could be scalding hot... 50 feet away a couple were canoeing in the lake. We were away for a month through Amsterdam, a British Isles cruise, and an Iceland/Scotland cruise and this tour is easily top two experience of the trip [3 tours were outstanding so picking just one is too hard] We have no hesitation in recommending this tour.Written September 18, 2024

- Lornac0100 contributionsA fantastic day trip from ReykjavikI didn’t want to rent a car (as would have been the only driver) but didn’t want to miss these sights so bus tour it was- and really pleased we did this - it was well worth it. Personally I d have liked about 15 more minutes in each location, just to take it all in (and also allow for the teen to inspect *every* gift shop 😂) . But understand that you have to keep to schedule- it s a long drive. The scenery while driving is spectacular. Thingvellar, Geysir and Gullfoss are all overwhelmingly beautiful. And the lamb soup at the restaurant in the visitor centre in geysir was delicious!!Written September 13, 2024
- Kevin C0 contributionsGreat last minute tour.Luba was a very engaging guide and a very careful driver. We saw the visitor center, geysers and gullfoss She even had jokes!Written September 12, 2024
- Safari7932460 contributionsGeysirs, waterfalls, and beautiful scenery.Beautiful scenery, geysirs, and a breath taking waterfall is what we experienced on the golden tour. Bring your jackets, gloves, camera. We sat back and just enjoyed the tour. Our only hiccup was finding our way from the ship to the pick up place. It’s a little walk from the ship but was well marked once we found it.Written September 11, 2024
- MAtraveler630 contributionsA must do when in Icelandan amazing tour!! A great way to see a lot of Iceland. We had only 3 days to explore this amazing place. The tour covers so many great places that we wouldn't have seen on our own.Written September 11, 2024
- G7772YRsais0 contributionsGray Line golden circle tourDarren and Hans were the most delightful Host & Bus driver. It’s a 7 hour tour with Gray Line and there was never a dull moment. Darren was amazing, he shared facts about a variety of topics including history, culture and food just to name a few. Hans drove us through so many beautiful roads smoothly and safely. They were so approachable we chatted with them at all the stops and the answered questions and offered recommendations. This tour was so amazing Iceland is so beautiful!Written September 6, 2024

Tour was very long; no air in the overheated bus was making everyone sitting in the back nauseous. Our guide was lacking energy overall and told very boring stories... we haven’t seen one person around us smile all day and we honestly counted minutes to get back to our hotel. Lunch stop was at a mediocre place that was more of a limited grocery store. Nature of Iceland was the only highlight but for the price this tour costs, I won’t recommend it.

Dee Dee is the best tour guide ever! She's very entertaining and you could tell she's a big fan of Game of Thrones, and has so much energy throughout the day. She's very knowledgeable as well about rocks, farming, and Viking sagas/Norse mythology! I really enjoyed listening to her. The tour was amazing and took us to places where there weren't many people.

My friend is a huge fan of game of thrones and I have never seen it. But this tour was still great for both of us. We saw so many incredible things. Dee Dee (our lovely tour guide) was so friendly and sweet. She was always willing to answer questions and she cracked jokes left and right. I defiantly recommend this tour, even if you haven’t seen game of thrones (although this tour has inspired me to watch the show now!!) 10/10 would do again!

Thank you Navigate14270428502 for your very kind words of compliments. We are very happy that your Dee Dee was your guide and sent her your message.
The sites visited are also some of our best loved nature site, no wonder it was selected for the filming although some of them are away from the beaten track and other angles seen.
Now you can start watching the series and hopefully notice the Iceland locations that you have visited
Best regards

This tour was 10/10! Our tour guide DeDe was hilarious and had so much knowledge about the show and the history of Iceland. We saw so many amazing filming locations and breath taking scenery for non game of thrones fans. Definitely recommend this trip!

Great tour well organized to places were you will not go on other tours, which was the main cause why I’ve made it with my 12 years old boy. The staff was great even giving some information about the island and his history. The bus was very comfortable and the group was quite small. Was a great day

This was our best tour ever! Mobis was our guide and did a fabulous job explaining all the sites. She even had large laminated pictures of scenes from GOT filmed in the areas we were visiting. We even got to drink water right from a waterfall! We received so much information and knowledge!
Our drive, George, did an excellent job also. We really enjoyed the smaller bus.

This tour was a blast! After coming off a tour (a different company) where the guide went on an on about nothing for 8 hours, Raven was a breath of fresh air. The tour was fun and interactive. We saw some amazing stuff. The people were cool. And if you have to be stuck on a tour bus for 8 hours, Raven is the guide to ask for. He’s funny, irreverent, wears a bad-a** cape and can handle an axe like you or I would use a fork. If you watch GOT and are going to be in Iceland, book this tour!

Thank you anitsa2016 for writing your review. Glad to see that our guide Raven kept everyone entertained with his commentary. This tour is certainly a must for every Game of Thrones fan visiting Iceland. The filming locations are a some of our most loved nature sites and some off the beaten track that have a lot of history onto themselves.
Your recommendation is very much appreciated

Hello - if you are from US I am not sure. I just had to cancel my trip in September due to the EU restrictions on US travelers. When I did the tour last year I went in October. So as long as you can travel to the country I believe this tour would be operating. If you aren't sure try emailing the company, and I would also recommend finding out their policy around Covid and cancellations.

Does this overlap with the Golden Circle Tour? 😊
Written January 14, 2020
Yes this trip does overlap with one section of the Golden Circle. You will be able to see Thingvellir National Park. You won't get to see the Eastern part of the Golden Circle which includes the geyser and the famous Gullfoss waterfall.

Hi, we are stopping in Reykjavik on a P+O Cruise on 10th July - The ship arrives at 8am and leaves at 6pm - would doing this excursion still be possible?
Written June 9, 2019
I don’t think it will give you time as it’s an early start and about a 6 finish
Written June 9, 2019
How much does this tour overlap with golden circle tour?
Written April 26, 2019
what time does the tour start
Written February 24, 2019
Hello, do the hours/days of your tour change when a cruise ship is in port? we will be in port on a Tuesday 7am-6pm so the tour as it is unfortunately isn’t suitable. Thanks in advance.
Written January 1, 2019
Is this tour a better option than the traditional Golden Circle tour? How do they differ?
Written November 16, 2018
They are totally different, if you have time take both.
GOT goes to places scenes where some of the TV show we’re filmed, in my opinion the most beautiful landscapes in the country. You will not have crowds of tourists.
The Golden Circle has all the sites people go to Iceland for. They’re crowed sites, but equally beautiful.
Hey, why not try a pub tasting too?. You get a few beers and a tour of a brewery. Be sure you’re with a group of 6 or more. You meet fun people and have a great tim too. Man, I loved Iceland.
Eat lamb.
