About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- G7772YRsais0 contributionsGray Line golden circle tourDarren and Hans were the most delightful Host & Bus driver. It’s a 7 hour tour with Gray Line and there was never a dull moment. Darren was amazing, he shared facts about a variety of topics including history, culture and food just to name a few. Hans drove us through so many beautiful roads smoothly and safely. They were so approachable we chatted with them at all the stops and the answered questions and offered recommendations. This tour was so amazing Iceland is so beautiful!Written September 6, 2024
- PBPG0 contributionsCould be betterGuide: Runar & Driver: Magnus Reykjavík excursions. The promised 6.5 hour trip turned into over 7 hours. Magnus was a good driver, it was very smooth all the way. Runar was somewhat hit and miss as a guide. Some was well described, some, a geothermal area, was missed entirely as he was on the phone (he did apologise!). The journey back was via a different route than the way in, and was much longer and much more boring. Not helped by Runar and Magnus having a loud conversation in Icelandic most of the way. It gets tiring listening to it for so long. We were in the seat behind the driver Runar in the seat opposite. A major relief to get off the bus! Good value though at £70 per headWritten September 5, 2024

- D3551OPkimp0 contributionsHow Do You Rate Something you were not permitted to Experience!Firstly as evidenced by all the positive reviews provided for all of the other tours that myself and my wife did during our recent trip to Iceland, you would be right in concluding that I am not an habitual complainer. However, this review is the exception. This tour just did not happen. I was supposed to be picked up at the Reykjavic Cruise Terminal at 7.30am. I was ahead of schedule until being prevented from leaving our ship due to the fact that the Icelandic Border Force or whatever bureaucratic rubbish name that they call themselves were late! I rushed to the pickup point and I believe that I got there by 7.35am, though Grayline claim their driver waited until 7.40am. I do not believe them. The whole scene was disorganised chaos, with no order and people rushing at buses as they arrived wondering if it was their tour bus. I rang the bus line and was told that my bus would arrive at 8.45am. After this deadline had been reached, I rang again only to be told by the same person that he'd made a mistake (he said that it was a miscommunication!, but I'd correct that to a mistake) and the bus had left already. I then walked to the Grayline depot and demanded to see the person in charge. When I mentioned that I was 5 minutes late due to the slack manner of service delivery of his country's immigration officials, he sort of smirked which led me to conclude that this was not the first time situations like this had occurred. He did offer me a later tour that day, but its return time was too late to meet my ship's departure time. I immediately contacted Viator to request a refund based on circumstances that had been beyond my control. Despite repeated attempts, they have refused my requests, which does not inspire me with much confidence to deal with them in the future. I mean they seem to be all smiles and new age review oriented when things are going well, but when things go belly up, they don't seem to want to know. So how was the Golden Circle Tour with Grayline Bus Company? Well, I don't actually know as ultimately, they failed to take me.Written September 3, 2024
- lutreciac0 contributionsIceland experience.Iceland is so different from any place we have been. Super interesting with the landscape, the falls, the geysers, the 5 gaits horses and unusual, but delicious food. We both enjoyed the tour. It would have been better without the wind and rain. I strongly suggest frog togs, jacket and pants or something similar.Written September 1, 2024
- vanessai5320 contributionsGreat golden circle tourMy partner and I had an absolutely amazing day doing the golden circle tour with Darren and our driver Vali. Darren was extremely kind, knowledgeable, and absolutely hilarious. It was foggy and raining most of the day but he made it so worth it. Pick up and drop off went smoothly. We were scheduled to do a northern lights tour but because of the weather it was cancelled. We were able to be refunded or schedule for another day free of charge. I would 10/10 recommend!Written August 30, 2024
- Travel1184110 contributionsLack of proper instructions from Viator. The boat docked at 8am, and by the time we got out of the boat, it was 8:20am. We could not find which bus we have to go to. We should have been given instructions as to which bus to go, as there are too many buses. It turned out, we run across a guy with black jacket Grayline, so I approached him, but our name was not on his list. The guy was looking for a different name. But we were told to ride in a mini van who will go to the bus terminal. Our schedule was for 8am, and we're late for 9am, so we ended up joining the 10:30am, so we waited 2 hours to get to the right bus with available seats. It was stressful looking around and asking which bus to go in, but we didn't know that we'll be taken to the bus Terminal, and was a long wait too at the Bus Terminal. In short, you should give alternate detailed instructions, if the boat did not dock at the time that was originally scheduled for the pickup, and what bus or mini van to look for. We were about to go back to the boat, and I was just lucky to run into a guy with a Gray Line jacket. Thanks for this experience. The Tour was very good after all, but the problem was lack of proper instructions where to go, if it's a bus or a minivan, and where to go.Written August 30, 2024
- stephenaW5003VT0 contributionsNice Grayline Golden Circle experienceThe Grayline Golden Circle Tour with Darren as tour guide and Panni as driver was most enjoyable. Darren is a most knowledgeable and enjoyable guide! They also managed the time very well. For us, the highlight was the waterfall called Godafoss. Incredibly beautiful. Highly recommendWritten August 26, 2024

- Ladyscott00 contributionsGreat day in the Golden CircleThe trip visited all of the golden circle attractions where they gave us plenty of time. Guide was knowledgeable and answered all of the questions. The joining instructions led to some confusion bearing in mind everyone joining the trip got on at the cruise terminal there should have been somebody there to guide you to the stop.Written August 17, 2024
- product-of-canada0 contributionsGreat experience, but not necessarily among my top experiences in Iceland.I was really looking forward to this experience, so perhaps my expectations were high. It was really enjoyable, and would say it's worthwhile experiencing overall. The hot soup and hot chocolate/tea inclusion is nice, in addition to the domesticated fox that was hanging around. [although don't expect to see the fox. We were among the first visitors that day, and I think it retreats as more people arrive].Written August 16, 2024
- Shap10110 contributionsAmazingly Beautiful!!!This was such a great tour and well worth it. The 3 main stops were a must see when in Reykjavík. The tour was accessible friendly with my parents being able to bring their foldable walkers with them. The bus was comfortable and they gave a good amount of time at each stop to walk around, take pictures and explore a little.Written August 15, 2024

We were a little apprehensive at the length of this trip when booking but upon reflection we had nothing to worry about. It was the most beautiful trip with the highlight being the glacier lagoon. Simply stunning! The day was long but time went so fast and we had regular stops with the longest stretch being about 2 hours on the coach. We visited a waterfall and stopped in Vik on the way there and then stopped back in Vik and saw another waterfall on the way back. The final waterfall was in the dark but was lit up beautifully and was actually a nice contrast to seeing things in day light. Darren our tour guide was brilliant. Had a great sense of humour and kept us informed throughout the day and went above and beyond to help a passenger who couldn't get back to keflavik that evening... Thanks Gray line for such a memorable day :)

This glacier lagoon was magical! We took a cruise around the lagoon and encountered 1,000 year old ice with glacier ice floating around you. It was simply breathtaking. This isn't too far from Vik where most people go to see the black sand beach so might as well drive a little farther and explore this lake. It's also right by diamond beach. This is a must when visiting Iceland!

This trip was phenomenal. It was our first tour in Iceland and it really set the bar high. Our tour guide Emilia was a fantastic storyteller, who kept up her energy all throughout the 14+ hours of our trip. Very skilled at keeping us entertained (even when the sights would’ve sufficed too), keeping it relevant, engaging, and wholesome with activities/stories during the longer parts of the journey. Our driver Peter was also amazing, really flexible and happy to make stops not on the itinerary if the sight was too beautiful to pass. That being said, the sights on this trip themselves were absolutely stunning. It was like being in a magical winter wonderland. Props again to our guide and driver for making the most out of the reduced winter hours in Iceland to show us the sights in the best conditions possible. Trip is an absolute must, you don’t want to miss out!

I had done a wide search for a tour that would allow me to see Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach and hit the jackpot!
In addition to the mentioned National-Geographic-worthy locations in this tour you are also able to enjoy an abridged version of the South Coast: stop in Skogafoss, short stop in Vik for lunch, and stop in Seljalandfoss (at night).
We did not take the optional amphibian ride in the Lagoon, but still people who went on board were given enough time to enjoy the Diamond beach when they came down.
Although the tour was by far the longest (14 hours) and a considerable amount of that time in the bus, the comfortable leather seats did not make us feel a thing and allowed us to sit back and enjoy the landscape. It also had electrical outlets, allowing us to charge our phones and be able to take more pictures.
Special mention to our tour guide Emilia, she was the greatest! She made the long drive highly entertaining by telling us fun facts and folklore stories about Iceland. We were able to learn so much during this time. She even treated us to some Icelandic chocolate. You will be very lucky if she is assigned as your guide :)

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Gray Line Iceland. On the night before our scheduled tour on August 24, 2024, they canceled our booking without any prior warning or explanation. This was particularly devastating because it was our last day in Iceland, leaving us with no opportunity to rearrange our plans or find an alternative tour.
The lack of communication and customer care from Gray Line Iceland is shocking. Canceling a tour last minute, especially without providing a reason, shows a complete disregard for their customers' time and experiences. We had been looking forward to this tour as a highlight of our trip, but instead, we were left frustrated and disappointed.
Thankfully, we discovered BusTravel Iceland after this experience, and they turned out to be a much more reliable and customer-friendly option. If you're planning a trip to Iceland, I strongly recommend booking with BusTravel Iceland. They offer a variety of fantastic tours and, based on my experience, are far more dependable.
Avoid Gray Line Iceland if you want to ensure your trip goes smoothly.

Wow what a tour! Our driver was fantastic and our guide was great. He reminded me of a university professor; interesting things to say but in a calming voice! The sights were beautiful, so they only thing that could have been better was the bus ride. There weren't any USB outlets, which was a struggle when you're using your phone to take pictures all day! I also really would have appreciated taking some super quick 5-minute stops just for a breath of fresh air. Someone on the bus was very gassy, (which made the 10 hours of driving unpleasant) and I was worried about carsickness. There were a couple of places along the way where we could have just stopped for a second to get fresh air in the bus and in ourselves. And of course to snap a quick picture! The glacier lagoon was absolutely gorgeous, but because the boat tour is not operating this season, a lot of us had extra time there where we just hung out by the food trucks.

Thank you Traveling_Bagel for your very positive review. Glad you enjoyed the excursion to the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon with us, certainly a long drive.
The stops along the way at the 2 waterfalls and at the town of Vik both ways may not be enough for this long ride but we must keep up with the schedule, regrettably.
The boat rides on the Glacier Lagoon start on May 1st unfortunate that you missed this experience

The tour lasted for 15 hours including the pick-up and drop-off, but the trip definitely worth it and i would say there was a lot more to see comparing to the Golden Circle. Our guide Halli (wish i spelled his name correctly) is very knowledgeable and shared a lot of info along the trip, including the history and development of Iceland. He is definitely the best guide i had during my stay in Iceland. Of course, the spots are really spectacular and I recommend the tour to everyone.

Cannot recommend Gray Line enough. Pick up from stop by hotel, and then swapped to tour bus. Tour bus very comfortable. Driving in Iceland in February can be challenging, but our driver Asgeir gave us complete confidence, we respect the skills Asgeir. Our guide Emelia was equally awesome, warm, friendly, and very knowledgeable, we could not have asked for a better guide. The tour itself is well worth it. It is a long day, but it was stunning, waterfalls, black sand beaches, lagoons, icebergs and ice diamonds, all amid stunning scenery. Plenty of comfort breaks. Just amazing and totally recommend.

This trip provides the opportunity to see a lot of Iceland's natural features. My particular interest in taking the trip was to see Diamond Beach. This is a really long day and we did it in terrible weather, but out guide Roman did a great jov of maneuring us around the bad weather as much as possible to visit the sites on the tour. I highly recommend the trip. I had previously visited Iceland and taken the popular Golden Circle Tout.

The Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon is a breathtakingly beautiful sight, and one you should make the effort to see. For those who are limited by time or means of transport, consider the day trip which is offered by a number of different tour operators from Reykjavík. Having done the day trip recently, here’s my suggestions for maximising the enjoyment of such a long trip.
1. Jökulsárlón is located on the south-eastern shore of Iceland, and it will take you almost 5 hours to drive there. So a day trip on a coach is going to be a long day, around 15 hours.
2. A number of different companies offer the excursion, all slightly different. Look at their itineraries and do your own research, checking out the various attractions they will call at during the day. Make sure the the sights included best suit what you want to see.
3. Carefully consider the amount of time to be spent at Jökulsárlón . You will need around two hours there to take in and explore this beautiful site, to take the cruise (optional but fully recommended) amongst the icebergs, and to walk to Diamond Beach. You’ll appreciate it more if you are not rushed and can enjoy this special place at leisure.
4. You will be sitting in a coach for a long time. Whilst bathroom and food stops will be incorporated into your schedule, take some snacks and drinks for your journey.
5. Take a warm and waterproof jacket with you, especially if you are taking the boat excursion on the lagoon, and / or if you are visiting the Seljalandsfoss waterfall and planning to walk behind the falls. Sturdy walking / hiking shoes are essential.
The day trip we selected was booked through a site called ‘Get Your Guide’ and was provided by BusTravel Iceland. We could not have been happier with our choice. We spent nearly two hours at the lJökulsárlón lagoon. The other sites we visited (either on the way to or back from, with adequate amounts of time at each) were the Seljalandsfoss waterfall, the Skeiðará Bridge Monument, Laufskálavarða with its field of cairns, and Vik. Vik was the evening meal stop.
Our tour guide was outstanding and extremely knowledgeable, providing a lot of information in an interesting and very entertaining way. She was very helpful to passengers who had not included the boat excursion on the lagoon and who had decided to do on seeing what it entailed, making the necessary arrangements without fuss. She didn’t rattle on endlessly; there were quiet times to just enjoy the beautiful scenery. The bus driver was careful and courteous, anf the coach comfortable and clean.
As soon as you see Jökulsárlón, you will. immediately think to yourself: “That long journey was absolutely worth it”!

We're travelling in February, so I imagine that a lot of the travelling will be in the dark. Is this a suitable trip for an 8 year old? I'm worried he'll get bored spending so long travelling.

We are traveling with children 3,4,and 5 we are concerned about potty breaks for them. Do you offer a loo on board or do you make stops every 45min to and hour?

I traveled with an 8 year old, they have a toilet in the bus, you just have to tell them when you need a potty break as their rule is the bus will have to be at a full stop for you to use the toilet. They only have 5 total stop for this trip

Do we get enough time to take photographs and also to see each tourist spot or will it be rushed as its a long 14 hours tour.
Written September 2, 2019
It's a bit rushed but you are able to see everything you could want to. Most stops are about 30-60 minutes.

Hi I am planning to book a tour for January 2nd 2020 (in Reykjavik from 30th dec and leaving on 5th january. this tour is 14 hours - as there is limited daylight hours can we still all the tourist attraction on this tour or it will get dark sooner and tour is cut short. Do we get to see Vik during this tour and also the diamond beach and the waterfalls. During winter can we get behind the waterfall or is not safe. Do we get to go to Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls, and black sands and cliffs at Reynisfjara. Please kindly let me know. Thank you.

Yes and No, Vik is just the stop for lunch. One of the many disappointing thing about this tour. As I was expecting it to be one of the highlights. Diamond beach yes. Part of this tour is visiting 2 waterfalls.
