About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- annecslack0 contributionsAuthentic Iceland ExperienceThis was a wonderful highlight of our trip to Iceland. The location was magical, Olgeir Helgi Ragnarsson was a local. He was very knowledgeable and informative and gave us a real feel for the culture, history and geology of the area. My husband is disabled and Olgeir could not have been kinder or more helpful in enabling him to access these baths.Written August 25, 2024
- AlbaIPC0 contributionsDisappointedThe staff's attitude is abhorrent. Instead of offering assistance or guidance, they exude an aura of superiority, treating patrons with disdain and contempt. Any inquiries or concerns are met with dismissive responses, further exacerbating the already unpleasant experience.Written March 28, 2024
- SuzPeploG0 contributionsMagicalThis was sublime. I really can't recommend it highly enough. We were picked up from the Husafell hotel/activity centre, driven a short distance away and led to the most extraordinary place - two hot pots in the pit of a canyon. It was out of this world. You can switch from lying down or dipping your feet in the nearby freezing cold stream to luxuriating in the warm pools. The pools are big enough to immerse yourself completely in comfortably, and to duck your head underwater too. It was peaceful, serene and felt totally off the beaten track. The changing facilities are clean and the style of the small building in keeping with the environment. Our guide was extremely nice and very knowledgeable too. He took us to see a lovely waterfall before taking us to the baths.Written June 11, 2022
- Kinga J0 contributionsA hidden-gem in West-IcelandOur Canyon baths tour was superb. Our guide, Olgeir Helgi, picked us up from the Húsafell Activity Center and first drove us to a small waterfall. We were entertained with stories about the town, Húsafell and its natural wonders for the whole duration of the tour. After a very short hike we reached the canyon baths, and we were amazed how beautifully it is built out and all the same how the nature is preserved very nicely. The area is equipped with a toilet and heated changing rooms from which you walk directly out to the natural baths. Towels were provided by the guide as well. It was a relaxing two hours. Our travel companions were a lovely British couple who spent their first day in Iceland. We were a small group, only the four of us plus our guide. Before this tour we explored the Viðgelmir Cave and bathing in the Canyon Bath was a divine way to finish our day. I definitely recommend this tour to everybody who seeks to explore hidden gems.Written June 10, 2022
- ryankB5177WN0 contributionsAmazing Local Experience.Beautiful and secluded hot pools. The mineral water is refreshing. Olga was our tour guide and she is very knowledgeable and shares many stories about the Husafell area. Loved this experience.Written February 12, 2022
- AlexG111120 contributionsabsolute breathtaking experienceThis experience was one of the top highlights of our entire trip. The little expectations that my girlfriend and I had were totally blown out of the water. Olga was our guide and extremely friendly and informative. She took us on a short driving tour to a nearby waterfall and finally, to the baths. There are two baths situated in the canyon and we had them entirely to ourselves. The beauty and solitude was jaw dropping. There’s a small wooden structure for changing and showering - don’t expect anything fancy (and bring your own towels) but trust us and make the visit.Written October 7, 2021

Our visit to the Canyon Bath was fantastic! My husband and I were lucky enough to be the only ones on the tour. We booked a 10 am reservation which is typically less busy according to our guide. It was a very short walk to the stairs that bring you down to the baths. Our guide was great too.

The guide was very friendly. We took a short ride, where we stopped to see a waterfall and then walked to the canyon baths tucked inside a private canyon. There were two baths - one warm and one hot. We stayed in the hot one, which was really nice. Great experience and would definitely recommend! The guide mentioned that you can book private tours at 7 and 9.

This was amazing. The baths themselves are beautiful and carved into the canyon floor. The canyon itself is incredibly interesting geologically and we enjoyed hearing about it while we soaked in the hot water.
What really made it amazing was the guide. Olgar was funny and witty and told great stories. When he found out it was my wife's birthday he loudly sang her the Icelandic Happy Birthday song. (Olgar can sing!)
So great. You won't be sorry--- this one is special.

Exceptional experience in every way. The timing was precise (no waiting around), Olgeir the guide was helpful, welcoming and knowledgeable, and the canyon baths were a once in a lifetime experience that was quintessentially Icelandic in every way. We went in the winter which had to be the absolute best time to go. Soaking in the warmth of the thermal bath surrounded by snow covered cliffs on every side is the stuff of Christmas movies, but I cannot imagine there is a bad time of year to go. Some reviewers complained about the price and the restrictions (you can’t just go to the baths on your own - you must purchase the tour) - but for newcomers with limited time and no local expertise the cost was well worth the convenience of being “guided” to and from the canyon. Absolute don’t miss. A hidden gem.

Since the Blue Lagoon was closed, we were steered to the Canyon Baths by the Tourist Bureau - and it was a superb experience! Very private, very scenic and wonderfully relaxing. There won't be busloads of people here - I believe the maximum is 15 at once - so book this nearly private tour and enjoy! We would definitely recommend this to anyone headed to Iceland!

Booked a sunset tour at 5:30, and got lucky with a small group. Our tour guide, Olgeir Helgi was awesome, he told us the history of the canyon baths and how they were created. The local community and recommendations for the local area
, super knowledgeable! He is born and raised in Husafell, so he has got all of the secrets!
They give you a clean towel so you just need a bag with your bathing suit. I recommend wearing your suit before so you get more hot tub time.
We got about 20-30 minutes in the baths, clean changing rooms and bathroom. They offer beer and wine for the baths, so remember to bring your wallet, they have a card reader so you can use your cc!

What a fun and unique experience. You can only visit the husafell baths with a tour guide - which I was first really skeptical about - but by the end I really appreciated it! Our guide gave us great information and due to the tour restrictions, the number of people in the baths were limited - giving us the ultimate privacy.
This is a hidden gem in Iceland!

We got crazy lucky and ended up with an empty group tour, no one else had booked for the same time. We got to hike up to a gorgeous waterfall and then back down into the canyon to see the amazing baths. Our tour guide was incredibly nice and told us all about the history and geography of the land and then gave us some relaxation time to ourselves in the secluded baths. My husband even jumped in the freezing river afterwards and said it was an experience like hes never had before.

It was a blustery, rainy evening but that didn’t dampen our enthusiasm for Húsafell Baths, nor the joviality of our guide; the proprietor. After a short drive from the hotel meeting point to the top of a canyon ridge we then made a short hike into the bath area below. The setting is remarkably beautiful and the baths truly lovely. (There are also perfectly adequate changing facilities. ) We then began our delicious soak surrounded by nothing but Icelandic beauty. We were loath to do the Blue Lagoon and anyone looking for a more organic alternative would be hard pressed to find anything better than Húsafell Canyon Baths.

This was the most perfect tour and the most beautiful day. Our tour guide was informative and told us amazing stories of Husafell. We walked a short distance from the car to the Canyon Baths and the place was a hidden gem - the scenery was spectacular and the baths were rustic and beautiful to bathe in. Our guide kept us entertained with drinks and allowed for some quite time to just soak and be at one with nature. A day that I will never forget - possibly my most favourite place in Iceland. Thank you.

Are we required to book a tour to visit the baths? Or can I drive there myself and hike in and go? Thank you.
