Fun Time
We had a fun time on our two hour ride. The staff were great, especially our guide. The horses were a little wild but nothing too bad. Nice scenery.

Wilderness expedition
200km on the back of trustful and strong islandic horses through the deserted planes north of Hofsjökull. An unforgettable experience, which demands good riding skills and a fit body though. Perfect organisation by Magnus and his team at Hestasport. An excellent cook accompanied the tour. Short yoga sessions in the morning kept our muscles smooth. So take riding lessons and start working out. This tour is worth any investment!

Brilliant Trip Highlight
We are family of 5 with 2 intermediate riders and 3 inexperienced riders. We tried the take 5 ride for the 2 intermediate riders The scenery is great, with wide open spaces and room for the horses to run. We had contact over 20 different stables in Iceland and when describing our experience as intermediate the others wouldn't let us try the flying pace. At Hestaport they didn't promise we could do it but they were willing to let us try. We had an incredible instructor Guillia from Germany. It was super thrill to get the chance to do this. We left after our ride but left wanting to do more horse riding. Highly recommend doing your rides at Hestasport

Great guide, horses perfectly chosen for experienced riders
We asked for forward going horses as we are experienced riders and really got them. Our guide Janin was great, we were often going fast and tried different gates incl. tjölt of course. Janin has also told us a lot about all the interesting places around etc. We can higly recommend Hesta Sport for a riding tour even for experienced riders.

I was SO excited for this tour and it did not disappoint!! They provided gloves which we forgot to bring—and thank god, because it got pretty chilly during the ride. They gave us time to meet the horses before we rode and gave a quick tutorial on riding before we were off. So, so fun and really great tour guides. Highly recommend this tour!!!

Great people and horses
We called last minute to see if we could get in a horseBack ride during our drive north. They went out of their way to accommodate us. Our 6 year old is still talking about it. The weather was a little cold but the experience was great.

Riding Tour Love!
This was an amazing experience! It'd been a while since I'd been horseback riding and a long time since my friend had ridden but that didn't matter at all. We booked the 2 hour ride and it was literally just 3 of us all in plus the instructor. The views are absolutely stunning and they make sure to stop and get a picture of you on your camera if you want it. We ended up going along a river and through a tiny stream. The mountains are your back drop. The instructors tell you about the Icelandic horses along the way as well as local information. Also, the instructors are amazing! Getting to the location wasn't too difficult and parking was simple. The check in location is separate from the actual barn location but they give you instructions on how to get to the barn for your ride. The check in building also has an area set up where you can sit and grab a complimentary drink and use the facilities. We stopped there after our ride and enjoyed some hot chocolate. And of course the most important part, the horses are beautiful! They are laid back. When you initially book you fill in information about your experience level and they clearly keep that in mind for matching you with a horse. My horse was named Nótt and my friend's horse was Bjórn. Absolutely the sweetest! Practically speaking, part of the reason we booked the two hour ride was because we weren't entirely sure what they included in the time (i.e. was getting the tack on the horses included, instructions and safety, etc.). When we arrived, we were fitted for helmets and setup. They gave some information on safety and then we met our horses. They were already tacked up as the instructors had set that all up. They help you mount the horse. That is all before your ride though. In short you do get a true two hours of pure riding and keep in mind you will feel it the next day! It was probably one of my favourite experiences to do in Iceland, if not my favourite! Definitely one of the most memorable as well. I encourage you to do it if it is something you're interested in.

Great trip for inexperienced riders
After a good explanation about both the horses and how to treat them, we went on a nice yet exciting ride along the river and a few hills. The two instructors did a fantastic job making sure everyone felt comfortable and secure. At the Hestasport office you’re invited to have a coffee, tea or cocoa both before and after the ride.

An Awesome Introduction to Icelandic Horses
My family experienced a wonderful riding adventure as part of a package that we booked with a travel agency. Hestasport made the tour an absolute joy. It was supposed to be a private tour at the end of the day, but one other person, not a party of our group came along. That meant we were one horse shy, but the tour guide quickly tacked a horse from the pasture, and we lost no time at all. All the members of the staff were kind, friendly and professional. We enjoyed a very pleasant ride, experienced and knowledgeable guide along the route, and the scenery was breathtaking. We crossed some low streams, went along steep ridges, and tried several gaits, and no one in our party ever felt uncomfortable, even though we had some first time riders. I would highly recommend Hestasport for their exceptional service and their hospitality!

It's your ride!
The format is flexible enough that you can ride as long as you choose, through the stream if you like, and feel comfortable with your guide and the pre-ride instructions. Helmets are provided. They discourage you from bringing a camera, for the safety of you as well as your camera. It's in a beautiful setting, very peaceful, and there is a nearby waterfall and hot springs on the property. Our group of four were the only clients on our ride. Website is easy to navigate and make your reservation.

We are family of 4 with two kids 7 and 11. Jenny was our tour guide and she is incredibly good. She is very patient, smiling all the time, answering questions, encouraging our kids - just amazing teacher for beginners. The tour was enjoyable, peaceful. I am so thankful that we stopped at Hestasport. Highly recommend to everyone!

Beautiful horses, scenery and cottages
Hestasport offers horse riding for anyone from the very beginner to much more advanced. I am in the novice, but not first time category. My husband had not ridden in a while, but much more proficient than me. We were just the two of us with a guide in a very quiet time of year. The horses are beautifully cared for. The surroundings are simply stunning. The guide took care that we were comfortable along the entire route. We learned a little about the history of the area and about Icelandic horses. There is a beautiful gorge that we rode up to, great for photography. What made our stay so special was that we booked a cabin on their properties. It was a circular of several cabins that looked to accommodate anywhere from 2-8 persons. They were the nicest cabins we stayed in for our 3 weeks in Iceland. They were decorated with love and care. All the cabins surrounded a naturally geothermally heated rock hot tub. We even got a bit of Northern Lights action after dinner. I hope to get back to Iceland. I would love to stay here again.
