About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Passport5983980 contributionsDelicious food and beer with a fun guide!Nadia was a fantastic guide and we had a lot of fun with her. She took us to some wonderful places with delicious food, and had a lot of great information about Helsinki. We never felt rushed and got to enjoy the food at each stop and enjoy the ambience. She sent us off with great tips for other things to do and places to eat and shop. We had a great time!Written February 1, 2025
- chiaralE683NY0 contributionsGreat first experienceWe had a great free walking tour with our amazing guide Siri. We learned a lot about the city and the country. A perfect first insight!Written January 10, 2025
- 519grantp0 contributionsSiri was greatWe had a wonderful tour with Siri - she was local and very knowledgeable and interesting. We appreciated her flip book with photos to help her guide… she was a good pace, not too fast or slow, current cultural information as well as historic. Highly recommend - don’t forget to give her a good tip!Written January 5, 2025
- ADominicaninBarbados0 contributionsInformative TourWe had a very informative Guide and places to stop to get warm. I would definitely recommend this tour and company and would try another tour from them again.Written January 5, 2025
- zonicaj0 contributionsAn informative and interesting walking tour. Our guide Viki was a font of information and provided some snippets of history we were not aware of before undertaking this tour. She had a great sense of humour and we could not have asked for a better guide. The tour itself showed off a lot of the landmarks within Helsinki including some we would not have thought to visit ourselves. The walking distance and time involved was easily manageable and I can highly recommend this tour as a starting point for a visit to Helsinki to explore the city, especially to identify places you might want to spend some time at during subsequent days.Written December 30, 2024
- lfisgd7460 contributionsExcellent, fun and informative tour!Excellent, fun and informative tour in Helsinki. Vicki was a great guide who shared so many interesting facts on the city and Finnish culture. Highly recommend this tour!Written December 20, 2024

- Nupeys0 contributionsSuper interesting, well pacedReally enjoyed our tour guided by a non Finnish lady Inhoa who gave us a great insight to the Finns, their habits, the history and so many interesting buildings. She really knew her stuff and made it enjoyable. Kept us out of the drizzle and strong winds where she could. Definitely worth doing thank youWritten November 16, 2024
- 60emmalinew0 contributionsWonderful Free Walking TourOn a recent trip to Helsinki with my dad, we went on the Green Cap free walking tour. It was a wonderful tour - I can't recommend it enough. We saw all the essential Helsinki sites and learned so much about Helsinki, Finland, and Finnish culture. Our tour guide was personable, clearly passionate about Helsinki, and you could tell enjoyed what she was doing. Although it is a free tour, we of course compensated our tour guide via tip since that's the only way she gets paid for the tour. Overall, was a great experience.Written November 11, 2024
- Matty5100 contributionsGreat discovery of Helsinki with AinhoaI followed 2 tours with Ainhoa in Helsinki, this morning classical tour and in the afternoon the modern Helsinki tour. She was very knowledgeable and had lots of pictures to show us to illustrate her points, which was highly appreciated! The mike is a nice touch to be sure everybody hears her well. Would highly recommend doing both tours, as the modern one is a complement of the classical one and we see completely different things.Written November 10, 2024
- Maria M0 contributionsWorth doing! Especially to get acclimated to Helsinki.5- we had your guide Ainhoc. She was just lovely. Organized, blended history, culture, Finnish ways all in a beautifully designed walking tour.Written October 22, 2024
- jchomon0 contributionsNice tour and better Guide - VikiVery nice your which was enhanced by the complete and funny explanatios of Guido Viki. She was fantastic, as well as the weather we han that dayWritten October 4, 2024
- Sightsee7109510 contributionsHelsinki free walking tourThis was a wonderful walking tour and I would recommend to anyone spending a day in Helsinki. Our guide, Katia, was so friendly and well informed on the history and sights the 2 hours flew by. It was extremely easy to find our guide ( just at bottom of steps to white cathedral holding a green umbrella) and a pleasant stroll through the city, which should not be too taxing for many people. Thank you Katia.Written October 4, 2024
- tomrT724CS0 contributionsHelsinki walkaboutKieto was very knowledgeable and efficient. We learned a lot about Helsinki, Finland and the Nordic region. I highly recommend him as a guide.Written October 2, 2024
- 682businesi0 contributionsUnpleasantThere was definitely a lot of good information. However, the way the guide communicated with the group was, in my opinion, a disaster. First of all, even though the tour was advertised as a "free tour", the guide started and ended her speech by insistently asking for tips. (How is that possible?!!). Then there were a lot of very subjective comments from the guide about how the buildings looked. It was even more unpleasant to hear her comments about some Finnish companies and politics, which sounded inappropriate from an ethical point of view. I wish the company would be more professional in training the guides to avoid giving a wrong impression of Finland.Written October 2, 2024

A snowy chilly start in Helsinkis Senates square we were received by Katia who warmed us up with her infectious knowledge and enthusiasm of Finland's capital.

I observed that there were two free tours on freetour.com - one that starts at 10am and one that starts at 11am. I initially joined this tour as it fit in better with my timings during the day. However I had to leave as there were many points that were factually incorrect, or that were lacking important details. Although friendly, the guide is in need of improvement, and I would recommend that the overall feel of the tour lacked emotion and empathy. I joined the 11am tour instead run by another company and very much enjoyed it.

I wrote a review here but I got an email saying that the company got it removed, as they obviously did not like my honest feedback. The excuse was that it did not have enough detail and were not sure that it was for the correct company. Therefore, I will write again.
So I attended a tour with GREEN CAP TOURS - yes they had GREEN CAPS, so it was definitely this company. Although the guide was friendly of sorts, his English accent was really bad, to the point that I could not hear him. Why have a guide who has bad English? But anyway we decided to stick with it as we had already invested our time in turning up. The guide was speaking as if he was reading from a book - a dull monotonous voice which just had no excitement. I can assume only that he forgot his morning coffee. The order of the tour was also strange - we did a lot of walking, and not a lot of talking. I am afraid that I had to leave the tour part way through, as it wasn't for me. I did also notice that some others also left. TripAdvisor offers the opportunity to leave honest feedback, and this is what I have done.

Hi
Thank you for your honest feedback. I'm terribly sorry to hear that our tour didn't meet your expectation.
I assume that you are actually talking about Free Walking Tour - Not Private Custom Helsinki Tour as this review has marked. However, no matter the tour - we have to do better. Providing true value to all our customers is paramount for us.
We take feedback seriously and will make the measures necessary to fix the issues you mentioned in the review. We have just recruited new guides and we will go this through with them. Anyway, we hope you good summer and wish that you could give us another change sometime later.
With Sincere Regards

Our private tour guide had a lot of positive energy and was eager to teach us about the city yet we felt that compared to other walking tours, the experience was average. It is important that guides have high energy but they also need to have a deeper knowledge of government and history as we do expect to have more solid facts throughout the visit, especially with an older crowd as we are.

As we tend to do in any city we get to, we've taken the Helsinki free walking tour. Out guide was Teemu S., a very funny guy with polished English and lots of stories - regarding both history and contemporary life. Excellent.

Hi! I am wondering if the prices listed on Trip Advisor are per group or per person? Also, do you have guides that are English and Spanish speaking? I am planning to visit Helsinki in August 2021. Thank you!

Hello, there will be a group of up to 9 in Helsinki from a cruise ship, in September. We are fascinated by the underground cold war tunnels, shopping centre, swimming pool, water and coal plant, etc. We'd also like to see Senate Square and the icebreakers. Is it possible to combine both? We can't find any information on accessing the underground network? Can you please advise? thanks so much
