About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Ambassador7706880 contributionsGreat Experience in HelsinkiLast time we were in Helsinki, it was cold and rainy, so we didn't do anything. This time we scheduled a bike tour with Happy Guide Helsinki and what a difference in our perspective of Helsinki. Philipe did a really great job showing us the highlights of Helsinki! He provide a great overview/history. Also loved that he was constantly looking back to make sure everyone in our group was was doing okay. I've been on tours where the guide just takes off and doesn't look back - that makes for a bad experience. Philipe was a great guide - would definitely recommend him!Written May 19, 2024
- Y3820HXhannap0 contributionsWonderful Food Tour!My husband and I recently booked a food walking tour in Helsinki with Happy Guide Helsinki and had a wonderful time! Karri was an amazing guide and educated us on Finland’s history and culture as we sampled traditional foods. We even learned more about the Moomin characters which quickly became one of our favorite things about Finland. Karri was very responsive via email and answered all of my questions. He even met us at our hotel to start the tour. Thank you Karri!Written February 20, 2023
- 702deboraha0 contributionsMostly retailWe spent most of our time in shops, although we had expected more emphasis on buildings, furniture, and other forms of design art. The tour guide did not have a sign or other visible indication that he was with Happy Guide Helsinki. His information from the company indicated he only had one tour group rather than two. He therefore ignored us and we had to interrupt his discussion with the other two people to determine whether he was our tour guide, which was rather surprising considering this type of miscommunication had apparently occurred at least once before. Otherwise the guide was perfectly pleasant.Written July 20, 2019
- AAB000 contributionsPrivate Non-Touristic TourWe booked a private walking tour (non touristic) 3 hours through Helsinki. It was absolutely perfect!! Maria is a young student, who speaks 10 languages. Her German was perfect. She showed us Helsinki from a local perspective. It was super interesting, a lot of fun and the perfect experience. We highly recommend Happy Guide also to our Hotel. This is the perfect way to get a real feeling of the city!!Written June 10, 2019
- Eyriekeeper0 contributionsVery good experienceWe had a short time in Helsinki and wanted an overview of the city. It was a really good choice to book a 3-hour walking tour with Happy Guide Helsinki. Our guide was Filipe, who we enjoyed very much. He was knowledgeable, patient (it was really icy on the sidewalks so we walked slowly!), interesting, accommodating.Written February 9, 2019
- Travellerisrael0 contributionsGreat, entertaining private day tour in wintery helsinkiI had a couple of days in cold helsinki and wanted to see and do as much as possible in a day. I very conveniently arranged a private day tour with them that included sightseeing, food tasting and a visit to the sauna/pool complex Allas sea pool - all for a very reasonable price. My guide was Felipe, a Chilean guy living in helsinki for over 6 years now. He was pretty entertaining, very knowledgeable about helsinki and finnish way of living and we managed to do a lot in a few hours. The highlight was obviously going to the Sauna complex at the end. It's a big deal in finnish culture and it was nice to have someone walk me through the do's and don't of Finnish sauna use (and also - traditionally you go to the sauna nude so that's what we did). I definitely recommend them if you need a guide around helsinki.Written December 17, 2018
- Kristine553740 contributionsAmazing way getting to know HelsinkiWe had an excellent day seeing Helsinki with a local guide. Elim was very open about the history and culture of Finland. We enjoyed chatting about the similarities of Finland and Minnesota (strong Scandinavian heritage). We enjoyed taking the subway and trams to see the various areas of the city. We also had a chance visit a local market where we stopped for coffee and pastries. Elim was great about making sure we could visit the Rock Church on journey. This was a well spent day in port while on our Baltic cruise!Written October 2, 2018
- russAustralia0 contributionsVery good tour with JoonasThis was a very worthwhile tour even though it is quite expensive. It was just me and the guide Joonas. He was very knowledgeable and an interesting speaker. I did the tour yesterday and today went back to spend more time at several of the places we visited.Written September 25, 2018
- senssl0 contributionsFabulous bike tour! Our guides, Maria and Emil were awesome! We loved their passion of sharing lots of information about Helsinki, as well as Finland. We covered a lot of ground which we wouldn't have been able to do on a walking tour. It was an easy 30 minutes to the meeting place from our cruise ship, but there are buses and taxis available. We would definitely recommend this bike tour!Written September 17, 2018
- Barbara g0 contributionsLots of fun, even in the rainWe are in our mid- seventies and this was a wonderful way to see Helsinki and learn a lot about it. The primary guide, Maria, was wonderful. She was animated and funny and full of information. We covered a lot of territory but we had no trouble keeping up with the group. This tour is definitely worth the money.Written September 16, 2018
- DeeFry0 contributionsGreat Bike Tour of HelsinkiOceania cruise ship provided a complimentary shuttle bus to market square, but we still had to walk about 12 minutes to the bike shop (use your GPS to find it!). Our guide, Mitti, was great, and safely guided us through Helsinki to many great sights such as markets, Senate Square, a bridge with thousands of locks on it (like in Paris, and Seoul), the Olympic Stadium, and Rock Church. Biking seems like the most efficient way to experience any city and to see many sights.Written September 13, 2018
- atakahashi050 contributionsGood food with local insight! This is a great tour that takes you through different parts of the city while getting to sample various foods with an insightful local. I would try and do this early on in your trip as it will set you up with go to spots for good food instead of guessing your way through it. The first stop at market square is actually the best to load up on food type snacks or gifts. I actually ended up going back after to get more, but if you don't want to double back load up while you're there. The route through town and stops along the way is a cool orientation to the city and definitely has spots that you will want to get back to if you have more time. I think this team puts on private tours too and if I get back to Helsinki I would definitely look them up again!Written September 3, 2018
- Lee-Anne S0 contributionsGreat way to see Helsinki!4 of us joined a bike tour with Jonah as our guide. He was very thorough and went out of his way to accommodate us with stops and photographs etc. He was also very knowledgeable regarding Helsinki and Finnish history. My husband had an issue with his bike so he organised for a replacement immediately and sorted it out whilst we visited the Marketplace. It was a very enjoyable day.Written August 27, 2018
- mariovK5544HD0 contributionsGreat City, Great CountryYou have to see this place. It is so special to visit and you will be surprised of how nice the people is. Highly recommended to visit during summer time.Written August 26, 2018
- MylaBailey0 contributionsHelsinki by Bike is funWe were in Helsinki for a day on a cruise and wanted to see the key sites without riding around in a bus. Our guide, Jonah, guided us around and was a terrific source of information about the culture and history of both Helsinki and Finland (plus, he was very entertaining). The ride was not too challenging (except for a couple of uphills), and there were a lot of great photo ops. We were provided with water and snacks as well as bikes and helmets.Written August 26, 2018

What a great way to kick off a visit to Helsinki. Our private tour guide picked us up at our hotel and walked us around the city, giving us history and cultural information and letting us take some amazing photos. I would recommend you start your journey with this tour as it helped us get an understanding of the city layout and get our bearings. Really cool experience.

We got a very good tour through the city that took around 3h. It was stressless, adapted to our walking rhythm and very enlightening regarding the city history and its main points. We ended the tour with the feeling that there was not much more in the city to see.
Our guide (Katerina) had patience, gave us time to wonder around at the locations we looked more interested at and was always ready to answer our questions.
Big thumbs up to the overall experience.

We (two adults, one teenager) had very limited time in Helsinki and wanted to see as much as we could, and so seeing all the great reviews online, booked a 3-hour cycle tour with Karri. The booking process was great - Karri was friendly and answered all our questions, and guided us through what to expect and where the tour was in relation to our hotel. The bikes were smooth and great to use, and the cycling infrastructure in Helsinki was great - we really enjoyed the tour and felt safe on the roads throughout, despite not having cycled in the city before. Karri was friendly and knowledgeable, telling us all about the history of the city and buildings, and stopping at some great spots for photo taking and refreshments! He has great energy and we had an amazing time, feeling like we had made the most of our overnight stay in the city! We would highly recommend!

I booked a private walking tour for four with Happy Guide Helsinki one week prior to coming. Their site was stress free, available for questions and responded quickly.
We had our tour on August 5 with Felippe. He is originally from Chile, his English is perfect, great personality, engaging and is very informative about the past/present of the city. We were together for almost 4 hours. A " Must" if you are in Helsinki!

Great excursion! Our guide was punctual and gave us a wonderful overview of key interest points in Helsinki. We really enjoyed every minute of a three hour tour. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the culture and history and had a fun way to share the information. He was also very helpful to give us further hints like what to see or where to eat later during our sty in the city.

We just returned from a two week trip to Finland. We didn't have much time to spend in Helsinki and decided to schedule a private walking tour for the afternoon we landed. This was a great idea as it gave us a feel for the city, hit spots we were able to check off our list in order to optimize the rest of our time there and stretched our legs after a long flight. Our guide Felipe was fantastic! Very knowledgeable and easy to get along with. He gave us some great recommendations for restaurants and music shops. We also appreciated that even before we arrived, Happy Helsinki's email had great information and details regarding how the taxis worked at the airport and other ways to get to our hotel. I highly recommend them!

I did the free walking tour and it was great! The guide was actually from Helsinki itself and could tell us a lot about the culture and also the history. We met I think at 12pm at the big dome on the left platform. The guide hat an elch hat. Would recommend :)

Our group of 8 had Matti for our guide for our walking tour of Helsinki. He did a great job taking us around to all of the "must sees" in Helsinki and telling us about Helsinki's history. Especially enjoyed seeing the train station as its architect was the father of the architect who designed our St. Louis Arch! Our only suggestion was that he make sure everyone in the group could hear what he was saying. Matti was quite personable and interesting!

This was a fantastic experience. There were just 2 of us and the price for three hours was so reasonable. Maria, our tour guide was so knowledgeable and animated. She really made the city come alive and you could tell she is passionate about where she lives. I will definitely choose this company again if I ever find myself in Helsinki in the future. Thank you!

This was the best tour I’ve ever taken - and made Helsinki the highlight of our trip. Phillipe was a terrific guide. His knowledge of the city, and especially of the history of Finland, was amazing - he made the city come alive for us. He was very accommodating, adjusting the tour for the things we most wanted to see, and took us places we wouldn’t have thought to go.
When he started the tour, he said he was going to take us to the Library. My first thought was “the Library?”. But the library actually was incredible - everyone we’ve told about it wants to go!
Don’t miss this tour - and ask for Philippe!

Hi. do we need to make an advanced reservation for your "free Walking Tour". My wife and I will be on a cruise and be in Helsinki June 17, 2018. Loved your reviews of this walk. We take such walks in many cities with much success.
