Half May my friend and I spent one night in a photography hide at the bear centre. We saw five bears that night, so bear wise all was good. However the rest of the experience was really poor. It started with the reception which was far from welcoming. No one asked how to be of help when trying to check in. No info was given unless specifically asked for. The complete opposite of what we experienced at a competitors hide in Lieksa. I would have expected some info on what was seen the recent nights. A nice welcome (and a coffee or tea) but nothing like that. Also the briefing in the filmtheater was very tame, very impersonal, and with incorrect info. So I will never recommend this place to anyone looking for a good hide to see bears or wolverines. Please step up on the receiving part and that will give your clients a much better experience.

The meal before we left was incredible (just like my Finnish grandma used to make). We received our safety briefing and then went to the viewing site. The first bear came into view within five minutes. We ultimately saw four bears, two quite close up. The evening ended with an appearance by the local wolverine. The entire experience was wonderful and well worth the price.
