Visit To Sweden And Aavasaksa

By Helios Tour
Due to Aavasaksa's distinctive elevation above other nearby hills, it was first used by Pierre Louis Maupertuis in the French Geodesic Mission (1736–1737), and later became part of the Struve Geodetic Arc. As a result of this, UNESCO named Aavasaksa a World Heritage Site, along with the 33 other sites used in the Struve Geodetic Arc. Aavasaksa is often considered the southernmost point in Finland where the midnight sun is literally visible. The hill is surrounded by rivers running next to it: Torne River to the west and the smaller Tengeliö river to the east and north. Övertorneå or Ylitornio is a locality and the seat of Övertorneå Municipality in Norrbotten County, Sweden with 1,917 inhabitants in 2010. Övertorneå means Upper Torneå, based on a division of the Torneå parish in two parts in the 16th century. We will see old church, the building of old railway station and very nice landscape.

          Amazing place!!!
Amazing place! Everything are inside something like mountain ⛰️ Very stylish and cozy atmosphere. Many different attractions inside. You don’t need warm clothes inside. Acrobatics show, meet Santa, Elf’s school, beautiful train ride, gingerbread decoration school , winter wonderland. Strictly recommended to order VIP tickets for family. We spend 3 hours inside!

          Better than expected
This turned out to be better than expected actually, I'm not sure what the negative reviews were expecting. Yes, it isn't huge but they do pack quite a lot in, try seeing it through the eyes of a child. All of the staff 'elves' stayed in character but one of them absolutely made the day for my two daughters. I hope she gets recognised for this, but whoever played Elf Nelphine at the Ice Princess area was amazing. She sat and spoke to my daughters, made them laugh, made them dance and really made the trip magical for them, they still talk about her. All in all we had a great day at Santa Park.

A bit too much of everything
Santa Claus Village: Crowded, loud and very commercial. Full of tourist busses and souvenir shops. We couldn’t feel any Christmas spirit in this place. The Elves farmyard saved our day. It’s a bit off the crowds and has great slides for children, marshmallow barbecue and feeding reindeer. Though, the entrance fee to Elves Farmyard is hefty - everything is expensive in Lappland. Santa Park: After the experience in Santa’s Village, we didn’t expect anything from Santa Park, but got pleasantly surprised. Yes, it is expensive and very commercial in most parts. But the Elves School, Gingerbread Bakery and Workshop provide a nice setting and entertainment for younger kids. We do recommend visiting Santa Park IF you have small children (2-5 yrs probably ideal), and are looking for something to do indoors to escape the freezing cold. The tickets are good for 2 days, although you can see everything in 4-5 hrs. I recommend being there early in the morning to avoid the crowds and waiting times.

Do NOT let them rip you off
Pure scam. Even if you go with children. Very overpriced for what they offer, which is a bunch of expensive shops. Santas park is insulting for the intelligence of both kids and adults.

          Best activity ever
The experience I had in this activity was literally awesome! Staffs were so kind and full of hospitalities that they took many beautiful pictures for our group, besides they served hot tea and some sweets during waiting for the northern lights. Fortunately I could finally see the northern lights, I am very satisfied with this activity.

          A bit dissappointed
Santa Park is actually quite small than expected. Love the Christmas Ambience but there isn't much things to do inside. The Two-day Entrance Fee is way too expensive and felt kind of a tourist trap. I don't think any tourists in the right mindset will go back on the second day anyway. Even after paying the Admission, some of the activities such as taking photo with Santa (unless you request the Elf to take a picture using your mobile device) and baking Gingerbread still need to fork out money. Nevertheless, it is still worth a visit if you are in Rovaniemi with your kids but do not expect much.

Helena took us in a amazing spot in the middle of the woods and alongside a magical lake, lightened by the moon and the snow. We had the chance to catch the Northen Light and this made me an unforgettable night! Thank you Helena :) Giovanni e Mauro

Great tour, totally worth it once a lifetime
Overall the tour was great, this was one of the few tours who went out that night, as a few other tours cancelled due to cloudy weather. We got very lucky to see the Aurora, as the next 2 days was snowing and I had only 3 nights stay there, and came all the way from Australia just to see this. If not for that night, I would not had opportunity to see the Aurora, especially April begin end of season. The guide Mohammed was punctual, he picked us up and drove to a traditional Lappish cottage about 30 minutes from Santa Claus Village. He spotted Northern Lights on the way and stopped to view , and then took us to the cottage for better views and photos. Tour guide took great pictures of ours in their professional camera and later emailed the photos for no extra charge The cottage was cosy and traditional, we got served hot drinks (coffee, hot chocolate) and then Mohammed put bon fire outside and barbequed traditional sausages. They also had vegetarian option Helios was less pricier than other similar tours, but this was more than others, as others charged extra to send photos I will definitely recommend taking this tour .

Excellent guides and a high quality experience
We visited Korouoma National Parks with Helios Tours and our experience was excellent. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable, the pick up from our accommodation was very convenient, and they accommodated our dietary requirements (vegan and vegetarian) very well. Highly recommended!

          Fantastic hike with wonderful guides
This hike was excellent. The walk was not for the faint of heart - some parts were very slippery ice and very steep but as a group of keen walkers we had an amazing time. The landscape and vistas are wonderful and it was great to get out and about and spend several hours trekking through nature frozen in its majesty all around us. Our guides Lena and Kirill were so warm and knowledgeable, we met as strangers and parted as friends. They kindly provided vegan sausages, biscuits and hot chocolates for us to enjoy around the fire with the other, non-vegan attendees. If you're planning to do this walk, I'd highly recommend going with Helios Tours.
