This was just not worth the money. You spend twice as much time listening to some foreigner talking about lecture hall style geology than you do digging. Your chances of finding something decent is pretty low. The views outside are really good, and that’s why this even gets one star. Just don’t. Go spend your money on something else.

Terrible experience that ruined our family trip. This is my updated review after 3 full days of dealing with this agency in Rovaniemi. Absolutely unacceptable over price, activities not run as described, unprofessional staff (except for 1 lady, Cris, that guided us on first day to the reindeer farm. For full transparency this lady was amazing, she was welcoming, taking care of us, giving plenty of information. Unfortunately the good ended with her) The worst had to come. We paid the husky 5km ride full price as per their booklet and all we got was a 7 min rides. No words was given about the husky farm, no contact with the dogs except 2 min pictures at the end, zero interaction and zero empathy for people travelling from anywhere in the world to visit this places. We were 2 families at our return to the office, to report the shortage of the run and asking for partial refund. We were told not to worry, we’d get the partial refund. The day after, when I went back to the office, they said this was not confirmed by their farmer! I had to show the lady at the reception the time of my pictures taken in my phone, with time of start of the ride and at the end when we went petting the dogs. She finally had to admit that indeed it was not right. The guy who guided us for this activity was useless and didn’t take any action, didn’t give any confirmation to the Nordic Unique Travel colleagues. He was there and clearly saw that the rides were ridiculously shorter than 5km. We paid a total of 2124 Euros for 4 activities and 1 was cancelled due to weather conditions: when asking for this to be refunded, they stated it was the cheaper snowmobile activity on the list, so only entitled to get €255 back. Here is the best part: I asked to get the full breakdown of my package as with that cheapest snowmobile activity, it means I paid for their extra fees over 1000 Euro!! Completely unacceptable. All other guides except our first lady , are clearly not trained, not experienced at all to deal with tourists: no explanations on the activity, no human interaction at all, some were driving too fast the vans in icy roads. Forget getting a sense of Lappish people, all staff is recruited across Spain, Italy, France There no information shared about Lappish traditions or simply a sense of Lappish lifestyle. We had a guy who drove us for 50km without saying 1 word, not even to explaining what we were going to do. Terrible. When they picked us up at the hotel, not even a gesture of helping my 7 years old daughter with her luggage…and expecting a tip at the end. Over 3 days we have seen several customer complaints and discussion in the office while waiting for our tours to start. Tourists are treated like money machine with no manager ever coming out to try to solve the problem. Really disgraceful representation of a beautiful country like Finland that many families are visiting,especially over Christmas time, and willing to pay. But not willing to be scammed. Really sad experience as the nature of the places are amazing and unique, children love this trip

Our tour guides Dany & Clemence where top! The huskies tour was not long but as we did a full tour the day before we were OK with it. Snowmobile perfect not long enough as it was super. It was a lovely morning trip 😀

We had Ryan D as our guide for the ice fishing tour. He was very attentive and explained all that needed to be done. We were on a lake in a winter wonderland! We did not manage to catch any fish but Ryan treated us to a very good lunch of salmon Cooked over an open fire

We did the Santa Claus village tour with CRISSY. She was an excellent guide picking us up from our accommodation after sending a reminder re pick up. She was very sensitive to the needs of the group and engaged with all of us. The wait to meet Santa was reasonable - c 40 minutes. Lunch was delicious and we even had time to explore on our own

Yesterday we went on a tour to see the Northern Lights with Thomas, our guide. It was a unique experience. He was very nice with us and with our little kids. We saw a beautiful aurora borealis and he took an amazing family photo. I recommend the experience and Thomas 100% Thank you for this fantastic excursion Thomas.

Our experience was amazing.. our tour guide Lea was outstanding she had all the knowledge of the tour, she helped us out from start to end. We even got a chance to watch the nothern lights.

We were very fortunate to have witnessed the Northern Lights and got some amazing photos. We did have some excellent ones taken by the guide but are still waiting on the link (it is the weekend, though). By the time we left, it was pushing midnight, so the thought of stopping for a late BBQ didn't fill us with joy - it was great, and we're utterly happy we did it, however. I am always amazed how much people like to complain. One person had their photo taken by the photographer with the Nirthern Lights onna frozen lake, then spent the next hour complaining they had to wait for everyone else to go through.

An excellent activity with just the right amount of time on each. A short husky sleigh ride, a short reindeer sleigh ride, and a decent length snowmobile ride. A fantastic guide (Nikki) made it altogether more enjoyable. Thoroughly recommend it.

Nordic Unique Travels has a large office and quickly came into our mind when offering a tour that we wanted to do - ice fishing. Yet, when we entered the office before the tour for exploring other adventures, we got the first feeling that our tour choice may not have been the best. After waiting for 20 minutes in a chaotically organised office, we left the store without any guidance. During the ice-fishing tour, our suspicions were confirmed. Here are my major take-aways: 1.) Organisation: Instead of max 8 people, we had three vans with each 8 people all going at once resulting into chaotic lunch situation as the hut was too small. Additionally, the ice stability only allowed 5-10 people on the lake, creating a short time to fish on the ice (20-30 min). In the end, we came back one hour late. 2.) Guides: There were four guides and all were nice, though not all were able to speak English. Additionally, Nordic Unique Travel seems to be using “interns” (not exactly sure what there position is) who are extremely junior to cover the tours - resulting into varying experiences. The biggest advantage of this being the variety of languages available to the customers. What could have been better? Knowing the conditions and group size, I would have expected the guides/company to check the ice thickness ahead. Following this, each of the 8 people groups could have been given a different time resulting into smaller overlaps, hence longer fishing times and less stress over lunch. Overall, we are happy about the experience on ice though unhappy with the customer valuing. Yet this was not worth the 95€ p.p. we payed for a 4 hour (in reality 5 hour) tour.

The tour was great. We went to a spot outside the city and fortunately we were lucky to see Northen Lights. The guides, especially Maria, was really friendly, helpful and answered all of our questions. The food served was an advantage. Thank you :)

Our guide Maria was really friendly and well informed about the aurora. She made sure that everyone was having a good time and was available to answer questions. The guides started a fire and we were offered worm berry juice, soup and marshmallows, we also grilled sausages. We were lucky to catch the northen lights and took some amazing photos! Highly recommend.

We bought the tour to see the Northern Lights in Rovaniemi. It was our worst choice. They were almost two hours late leaving and we ended up missing the aurora show. They made a barbecue with a very poor quality sausage. We paid for the tour with photos included and we didn't receive any. I don't recommend the company.
