    Never miss this activity ever!
It’s a must-do experience in Levi! It’s beyond arctic! You will get to know and feel of true nature from arctic. More importantly, you will get really nice photos from your guide. My guide’s name is Meri. She is very kind and took a lot of excellent photos for me. In the activities, you will also have a small lunch in a traditional lappish wooden hut ‘Kota’. It was fantastic! You should do it once in your lifetime.

    Oren is Awesome!
Our guide, Oren, is AWESOME. He did a great job making our night unforgettable although the weather was not good for seeing the northern lights. We understand that this is something neither Oren or the company can control, but Oren still gave his best to provide a wonderful experience.

    Magical northern lights experience!
We had a really great experience on our northern lights photography trip on Monday 20th November. Our guide Ryan was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and definitely went the extra mile to make sure we got the most out of our trip. It was an exceptionally cold night at -25 so we kitted up in overalls, socks and boots provided by Beyond Arctic and then drove to a spot by a frozen lake about 30 minutes away from the city. As soon as we arrived we saw the northern lights. Ryan set up his camera and helped others set up theirs and then he took plenty of photos of everyone in the group. There was a tipi at this location and Ryan got a fire going inside to keep us warm, there were sausages provided which were grilled on the fire and we were happy that there was a vegan option even without us asking for it beforehand so that was a nice surprise. The van was kept running at all times as well so we could warm up inside there if it was too cold even in the tipi. We waited another 3 or so hours until around midnight to try to see the northern lights again, sadly there was nothing but then just as we were packing up to leave they were back! Ryan ran back to the frozen lake and we all followed, he took more photos of us and was more than happy to stay out for longer even though it should have been the end of the tour, which we really appreciated as it felt like he truly wanted us to enjoy the experience. By the time we arrived back at our hotel it was around 01.30am, we were grateful for the extra time enjoying the northern lights at the end. We’re still waiting for the photos to be sent to us (which understandably may take some time to go through and edit); for us this trip is extra special as we got engaged the next day and so we really can’t wait to have plenty of photos to look at to remember this magical time!

    An experience
Marcus tried his best to make sure we get something out of this trip. We didn’t get to see strong northern lights but the trip is entertaining if this is your first time.

    Excellent Northern Lights Photo Experience
The service was well prepared and equipped. Oren, our guide, was super professional, educating and helpful. Oren was also super flexible taking us to a variety of locations and changing plans when great photo opportunities presented themselves. He also made sure to care for those who struggled with the cold.

I was part of the tour that took place on November 17th, with Emilia as tour guide. Arguably, this tour was the biggest reason we came to Finland. As I guess many others did as well, I decided for this company based on how positive the reviews were. However, we are deeply disappointed with our experience with Beyond Arctic. One of the main reasons I decided for this company & tour was because, according to them, they go the extra mile in order to make the most of the experience. Sadly, this was not the case. We started at a spot close to Rovaniemi to watch an aurora that the guide deemed as "rather low". She took a couple of pics of us, and when the aurora was starting to get better there, she told us we needed to go somewhere else because there was a guide from another company. We then went somewhere else that was supposedly more "promising". The aurora there was even weaker, and she took only one more pic of us. We were told we may go somewhere else (a 3rd spot), but that never happened. It was a very cold night, so I can understand that the guide would want to head home. However, it was still disappointing. A few days later, Beyond Arctic sent us the pictures. We got the pictures of the aurora (landscape pictures, which were nice & decent), one group picture at the 1st spot and a final picture at the 2nd spot. The first picture (group picture) was not well taken, because our bodies were basically covering up the parts where the aurora was the most intense... The second picture was blurry (attached in the review so that potential customers can judge for themselves)... These are mistakes that should have been prevented. This is as simple as telling: "move a bit to the right/left" or "the pic is blurry, let's take another one". However, this just shows a total lack of interest on the guide's side. In my humble opinion, I think she should have made sure that, at least, we could all get ONE decent picture. I do not think this is asking for a lot, given that we paid 125€ each and came from very far to take this tour. *I emailed Beyond Arctic to send me all the pics taken by the guide and they emailed me 2 more pics. Unfortunately, they were not any better. For a party of 2 people, 5 pics were taken in total. For a photography tour, not many pictures are taken... Given the positive reviews, I guess this all depends on being "lucky" and being led by a guide that wants to perform a good job. Sadly, this was not our case and we really regret not booking another option at Rovaniemi.

    Spectacular Tour
At the beginning of the ride, I was not believing that we would be able to see anything, because the sky was overcast, completely covered by clouds. Luckly our guide was someone really impressive. Extremely polite, explaining everything that we would try to see. During the ride, he gave us a detailed explanation about the aurora borealis, how and why it happens, the whole picture. He drove us northwest, for more than one hour... By the time he found a place in the middle of the forest, there was the most clear sky ever. Never saw so many stars in my life. Actually, you have to have a tripod and set your camera in a way to catch the northern lights properly. After maybe one hour since we arrived there, the magic happened and the lights were dancing in front of us. It was spectacular, really unbelievable. I highly recommend this company, and most of all our guide Oren. Worth every cent that you spend...

    Successful hunt for Northern lights
We want to thank Markus for going above and beyond during our tour. Weather forecast was unfavorable, but we drove almost to boarders of Sweden and in the end we had 3 stops where we could see the Northern lights. Thanks again!

Beyond Arctic truly does go above and beyond!
I cannot begin to even explain how amazing the experience was. Markus is the most amazing guide who knows everything you want to know be it Finnish history, the science behind how the aurora happens, and everything in between! He went above and beyond to ensure we were able to catch the aurora and even when that meant driving to the Swedish border, he was on it! Even on our way back when we spotted it again he would stop to make sure we got the best shots! I am so greatful to him for giving me such an amazing night I won't forget! He takes photos for you to ensure even when your phone isn't up to scratch that you will still have amazing pictures! My photos don't do it justice and i cannot wait to see the ones he got! Thank you Markus for making a dream come true experience!

Oren has done it again! Our group was pretty small, but we were able to hike the area and more. There are some spots that he took us to that you see mostly in pictures from other users or something out of a nature documentary. Something about nature, snow and the clear skies puts me at ease. Maybe it's the quietness or in awe at the beauty of the scenery. I just felt connected. Snowshoe is not easy but not impossible. Foots of snow and having snowshoes on make it a nice workout. Plus Oren is a great photographer!

Of course we did setup a campfire in a teepee and had a small lunch. Oren also explains the mission statement of Beyond Arctic which has reinforced why I chose this company. They are environmentally friendly and leaves nothing behind.

If you're a noob arctic tourist like we were then this snow show excursion with Beyond Arctic is perfect.
Beyond Arctic seem to have got a niche in the small group excursions and it's to their credit.
Our group was so small it was just the two of us. With two guides Annti and Juho.
They kit you out with shoes, poles, and show shoes in their offices, drive to a nearby walking trail and then just take you off the trail through small hills and trees. The scenery is awesome and Antti took some great photos of us.
You finish off the trek with a few sausages (vegan available) around a fire.
Obviously 90 Euros per person is not cheap but if you have no transport to these trails and knowledge of which trail to take then I would highly recommend Beyond Arctic.

We took part in the 3hr snow shoeing session with Beyond Arctic. There was only 6 of us in the meeting area and i soon realise the company only accept small group. We were then handled a small bag with personal termos of hot berry juice and other tools such as personal seat pad. Winter clothes were also provided.

Markus and another guide took care 6 of us, so it is like in 1:3, very caring policy of the company. They help us took great photos using their DSLR and tell us the story about the wilderness and also about the arctic stories.

The most excited part was the decision not to walk the trails paved but to walk through the frozen swamp or bushes of blueberry. This add additional challenge to the trip but it makes it more memorable.

I could only say the 3 hrs journey ended too fast without realising. We had a great time with BeyondArctic and we are looking forward to joining them again soon.

Thank you for the review. We are happy here to hear that the snowshoe adventure was exciting to you. Maybe if this time you felt that 3 hours of snowshoeing went fast, next time you can also rent the snowshoes from us and go exploring the areas around on yourself also! Great to hear also that you liked the pictures taken on the day, snowshoeing brings a lot of opportunities to take some great pictures out in the nature. We warmly welcome you to join us again if you visit Rovaniemi again!

I thought this tour was very poor. The guides were very young and friendly but the tour itself was a 30 minute, at best, loop walk through a forest. Hardly an adventure as described in the blurb. Then back to a tepee where we cooked a sausage and took some more photos before back to the city. There was no information about the area or the landscape. It felt like a tick boxing exercise.

Hi there, Thank you very much for your feedback. I'm very sorry to hear that this tour didn't fullfill your expectations and experience felt too short for you. Snowshoeing adventure is total 3 hours long and includes driving to destination and back, 1 hour all together, snowhoeing hike and bbq on our private location. Depending on groups fitness level, we always modify the route of the tour so that everyone is getting the experience they are looking for and also not to push this adventure too heavy for some participants. Clearly this time we haven't been able meet your expectation and the route has felt too short for you. I'm very sorry for this. Propably we should have communicated this better to you already before the tour, that we can actually modify the lenght of the route to fit exactly your needs. This is kind of flexibility we want to offer for all our tours. We will make sure that we are more clear about this in future tours, so this kind of disappointment won't happen again! I wish you all the best and hope you had a nice holiday in Lapland!

We had a wonderful day out in the forest exploring. We were picked up from our hotel and taken to Beyond Arctic head office where we were kitted out with boots and snowshoes. A short drive to the forest and we were off on our adventure. There were only 4 in our group with 2 guides so we had plenty of help with the snowshoes. We spent a fantastic couple of hours in the forest exploring and marvelling at the scenery. Our guides were very attentive and helpful but not smothering. We were encouraged to explore and make our own track through the forest whilst keeping in view of the rest of the group. It was a great way to get out into the forest, get some great exercise (I worked up a sweat going up some of the hills!) and appreciate the beauty of a winter landscape. Our trip finished with a BBQ and hot drinks before heading back into town where we were ultimately dropped back to our hotel. Highly recommend this company and this expedition

Hello Sharon and thank you for the review. It is good to know that you have enjoyed the Snowshoe adventure. It sure is one of the better ways to move in the nature during winter. Snowshoes allow access in area where maybe walking or skiing would not be so enjoyable. Making own track is part of the fun! Thank you for joining our expeditions, we wish you all good in future and hopefully we meet again if you decide to join us again here in Lapland!
