    What to Expect
    Visit: Djurgårdsslätten 49, 115 21 Stockholm, Sweden

Skansen is the world’s oldest open-air museum, showcasing the whole of Sweden with houses and farmsteads from every part of the country. Most of them are situated along paths lined with elm, oak and maple trees, date from the 18th and 19th centuries. Almost all the buildings are original and were moved here whole or piece by piece from all over Sweden. This is also the world’s only open-air museum with wild animals. Here you can see Nordic wildlife, rare breeds, pets and exotic creatures.

The Children’s Zoo features domestic animals such as cats, rabbits and guinea pigs, as well as small wild animals.

I have visited Skansen in winter, at Christmas last year and now in summer. This is a delightful venue for all ages, but I went with my 2 year old granddaughter and she loved every minute of it. We walked through the outside area and...More

We enjoyed Skansen, but it was not exactly what we expected. It’s almost more like Knott’s Berry Farm, than many of the other European open-air museums we’ve visited. For example, there is basically a large food - craft court in the middle, many of the...More

Skansen is something special. It doesn’t feel like you’re in the center of Stockholm. It feels like you have been lifted to another time. It is beautiful here. The buildings are interesting and the animals are incredible. You can easily get lost here for hours....More

This is an amazing place and is covered well by the other reviews. However, I think it needs better food options. Some of the food stalls aren't bad but the sit down restaurants aren't great.

In this parc, you can see animals that are typically found in Sweden (elks, reindeers, wolves, wildcats...) and others such as crocodiles, piranhas, pigs etc., as well as small houses that you can visit and where you can see how Swedes lived before. People are...More
