About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Helen K0 contributionsFascinating tour of Viking cultural sitesA fascinating tour. Olaf, our driver and guide, picked us up bang on time and we were taken firstly to three runestone locations around the lake, then to Sigtuna - where we also had lunch - Uppsala and Gamla (Old) Uppsala. Olaf explained the historical, cultural and religious significance of each runestone, church and location in such a calmly-paced, humorous and detailed way - it brought 10th century Swedish culture properly to life for us. We got some excellent photos and memories of the day, so glad we did this tour - Thanks Olaf!Written January 22, 2025
- Q4813EKpaulp0 contributionsGreat experience.Great day, friendly and knowledgeable guide, offering historical insight. Connecting with and getting to know Sweedens remarkable History. Comfortable and not rushed 😀Written January 19, 2025
- Curious1729580 contributionsViking History TourGabriel and Eric were great guides. Learning about the Runestones was amazing. The drive between sites was so pretty, it was well worth the hour drive. Highly recommend this tour.Written January 17, 2025
- WizzyWombat0 contributionsExcellent Viking TourMy family (including 15 year old son) just had a wonderful day tour of Broby Bro, Jarlabanki’s Bridge, Arkil’s Tingstad, Gamla Uppsala and Uppsala. The tour was made even better by our guide, Olof. Olof was extremely knowledgeable and engaging. I also appreciated how accommodating Sweden History Tours were, letting us tailor our itinerary including where we went and at what times. I would certainly recommend both Sweden History Tours and Olof to anyone interested in seeing some of Sweden’s most important Viking sights in an informative and efficient manner.Written January 12, 2025
- Y2239WMrichardt0 contributionsViking history made interesting by guide GabrielOur tour guide was Gabriel. He was very knowledgeable at his craft. Although when we deal with history, it is usually is boring, he was able to make it somewhat interesting and entertaining, by adding question and answer, trivia, mini games, etc. That way, me and my companion, never lost interest; at the same time, we learned a thing or from him regarding viking history. Shout out to Gabriel for a job well done!Written December 25, 2024
- Abhi2490jain0 contributionsOlof’s Unique Historical Tour of Viking OriginsA great tour and Olof who managed and guided us on the tour was exceptional. The tour is very different from any standard historic tours of any other major country as it tells you about life and times of some consequential people and what they left behind which is intact even today even though the govt has kept these historic sites and monuments and stones open for public without building any guardrails around them. The small group of max 6-8 persons make it quite convenient and less tiring!Written December 25, 2024

- kallyns20220 contributionsExcellent TourMy hubs and I took this tour and it was definitely worth it. Carl was an informative and engaging tour guide. He was very knowledgeable, but made it fun at the same time. We saw numerous runes, learned the history of the changeover of the “old gods” to the new one, got to walk around Sigtuna and had Fika in Uppsala. It was a long day, but worth it to see areas outside of Stockholm. Highly recommend.Written November 26, 2024
- emilt9550 contributionsHighly recommend for corporate groupsWe are a Swedish event organizer that recently hosted a Japanese corporate group for a conference trip in Stockholm. Jonathan and his team at Sweden History Tours arranged a guided city tour from our conference venue in the city to a restaurant in Gamla Stan, which was originally planned for three smaller groups. At the last minute, we encountered a sudden downpour of rain. Thanks to Sweden History Tours' problem-solving skills, flexibility, and extensive network, they managed to secure a bus on short notice and completely reorganize the tour. It turned out to be a great success and truly saved the evening. A big thank you to Sweden History Tours, and we highly recommend them for corporate groups. Their planning is professional, meticulous, and impressively well-executed.Written November 25, 2024
- eshwaru20240 contributionsAmazing Experience, highly recommended.Amazing, tour guides were wonderful, the tour itself was amazing, highly recommended. The tour guides were clearly passionate about the history of the vikings and the area and the places we visited really gave us an inkling of what it would have been like to be there back in time.Written November 24, 2024
- davidbD8360RC0 contributionsA great day out of StockholmWe visited several interesting sites as described on the website. Our experience was made excellent by our guide, Calle. - vanessasE7900PC0 contributionsFantastic day outWe had an amazing day out, tour guide was fantastic and built the trip around our preferences. Gave us the right amount of time at each place and indulged our fascination with the snow! Would highly recommend as a day trip.Written November 24, 2024
- F3820CJjenniferc0 contributions9hour Viking TourWe had such an amazing day with Calle as our guide and a guest appearance by Jonathan. Calle was very knowledgeable and went out of his way to include our two kids (aged 8 and 10). The snow fights were just a bonus ;) would highly recommend!Written November 23, 2024
- S4961UWjamesp0 contributionsRunestone tourThe 3-4 hour tour took us to four sites, where Carl gave us a great explanation to the significance and historic meaning behind runestones and Norse way of life. Christian, who helped get us around, was able to talk about downtown Stockholm, embassy row, the university system. Both were excellent at engagement with the tour, on both an individual and group level. Will return for the longer tour!Written November 11, 2024

Hello. We will be in Stockholm on July 20th 8:30-4:30. We are on the NCL Getaway and have transfer into Stockholm. We have 6adults and one child, 4years old. We would like to book a private tour and see as much as we can. (Sigtuna, Vasa, Royal Palace, Gamla Stan.....) whatever we have time for. Do you have any openings? If you do can, can you give price information. Thank you.

We, a family of 3 including my elderly parents over 80 years of age and myself will be travelling in Sweden from 8 to 10 June 2019.
As we are new to Sweden, I would like to rely on your expert advice as to where to visit and what to do for 3 days from 8 to 10 June. We usually appreciate beautiful nature/scenery and hiatorical architecture as well as shopping. Last year, we went to Norway and absolutely enjoyed her beautiful nature and fjords.
Could you kindly make some suggestion so that we can tailor make our tour to be especially suitable to my elderly parents? Please also let me know the price for the suggested itinerary. I would prefer to have a private tour with a CAR for parents.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards
Andrew

We are a group of 4 that arrive in Stockholm on August 24,2019 on the Oceana cruise ship Marina at 7:30 in the morning. This is the last stop on the cruise. We are interested in taking the above tour but have some questions.
The earliest we would expect to be off the ship is about 9 AM. We will have luggage and will be staying in Stockholm that night, most likely at the either the Sheraton or the Marriot Courtyard hotel. Not knowing if the car would be able to handle our luggage, we anticipate having to go to the hotel and drop it off before the tour. That would mean that we would most likely need to have the tour start later than 9:30 AM with pickup at our hotel. We would also like to be dropped off at the hotel after the tour.
Is the tour flexible as to regard to time or is the car/van capable of handling the luggage? Please let me know the best way to handle this.
Thank you,
Tom Abernethy
