The Stockholm Old Town tour is like an episode from Game of Thrones, but it’s all real. Come experience what Stockholm was like in the middle ages and get immersed in thrilling historical tales.

      An all round excellent experience.
There was a good variety of food to taste including some slightly challenging items, in particular some of the liquorice, but all of it was delicious. The guide gave a good overview of the foods history and the walk through the city itself was a good interlude between the food as well as a nice guide to the architecture and history.

      No Show
We showed up on time for the tour but the guide was a no show. We contacted the tour operator but they never responded. We did get a full refund which is appreciated but no apology for wasting our time and the round trip transportation cost.

      Worth the Walk
This food tour gives you everything you would want in Stockholm, history, food, walking, and great views of the city. While some reviews complain about main stops being food halls for me, that was the best part. You get to experience the rich food hall and then the everyman food hall. Fritz was a great tour guide who was very knowledgeable about the history of different Sweedish spots throughout the city. Would highly recommend this tour!!

      Sample of Swedish Cuisine
The best thing about this tour was having the chance to try some interesting items that I might not order myself, like bear, moose, and venison. Most of the tour takes place between two different food halls, with some leisurely walking in between. On our particular day, there was one larger, sit-down dish served at a fish stall, but I got the impression that this was not typical, and was done in place of a multi-course tasting. For that meal, guests had full reign of the menu, which was pretty nice. The cheese pie was what I tried and very filling, but tasty. I have to admit, the tour guide (Greek guy with long hair) was rather reserved and didn't do much to engage the group during the walks. Instead, he shuffled along with his hands in his pockets and his head in the clouds. On other tours I've been on, the guide usually takes interest in asking a group this small where we're all from, why we're all visiting the city, etc. but this guy did nothing of the sort. He would essentially speak if spoken to, but nothing more to carry a conversation. Still, I'd repeat this tour if given the chance since the food offerings were worth it.

OK but a bit underwhelming and a lot of walking with nothing inbetwen
The tour was OK, but I felt that a couple of the tastings weren't particularly relevant to an overall Scandinavian food story, others might have been better. Also, in my opinion, it is a little lazy and unimaginative of the organizers to have 5 of the 6 tastings in 2 food halls with nothing in between. If I'd known this was the itinerary, I could have done this myself with a modicum of research. Having said that, the stop at Kajsas Fisk was excellent and their fish soup was great!

      Good tour, recommended
Good tour, lots of useful information. Very good market near the central station, where we had lunch, wine and licorice.

Definitely worth the experience for a flavor of Sweden
Our tour guide was the excellent Valentina. We visited many different food places and I would say overall this experience was very interesting and the amount of food included was plentiful. I recommend you come on this tour having not eaten beforehand!

      Not bad
After reading the reviews, I knew that Cotton was the best guide and I hoped I didn’t get the other one who was reported as ill suited to be a tour guide. I did get Cotton! But quickly realized the complaints were actually about him. He’s quirky but not that bad. I couldn’t help compare to another food tour guide in Paris who really made the experience memorable and exuded enthusiasm even though she gave the same tour every day.

Bear, reindeer moose and fika and more
Excellent food tour with Cotton. Who knew that Stockholm had such beautiful and large food halls and such a rich culinary tradition? It's not just smorgasbord. Cotton is not only an expert on the history and variety of Swedish cuisine, but he is also a very articulate cultural spokesperson. I loved hearing his explanations of the individual to the state. Unique indeed.

      Great!
Cotton was a great guide. Very knowledgeable and full of interesting local facts. Food was great, introduced us to food halls that probably would d have gone unnoticed if not for this great tour. Thoroughly recommend

The entire tour was lovely, food was amazing! The food halls we were taken to, we will visit again. The only thing I would say is maybe a tiny bit of more history or back ground of where/what and why we were eating the certain food.

Streamlined and fascinating exploration of Stockholm through its cuisine.
This experience packed so much interesting information in such a condensed amount of time. I was really impressed with the tour guide's speed and breadth of knowledge being able to speak on many different subjects about Stockholm's history and lifestyle and always rooting in the area's cuisine. The choices of foods were also excellent.

Highly recommended-we had a real good time
Ah we truly had an enjoyable time! This was so much fun and educational too. What a great idea and concept! it was great to try a few things from Swedish’s food without committing to a full meal. It was very good value for money to! The lady who did our tour was great (Sorry i do not remember the name- Italian origin). Highly recommended

A 3-4 hour long experience of food and culture.
Took the walking food tour with Cotton. He was very friendly (and a bit irreverent) and shared a lot of information about not only the food we were sampling but also the history of the areas and buildings we were walking through. The food was wonderful and varied: everything from a variety of Swedish cheeses to bear meat sausage and, of course, a variety of licorice. We ended with a little fika (conversation over coffee and a cinnamon/cardamom roll).

The title says it all. That was down to the tour guide.

Sarah was everything that one should expect from a tour guide. She was enthusiastic, energetic and incredibly knowledgeable. Add to that, that she was able (comfortably) to conduct the tour in both German and English and you will appreciate how pleasant a walk through the old town was.

The tour started at an oak tree and ended at the Riksdag. There was also time for a fika in the middle. I definitely recommend the kanelbulle at Bröd & Salt. Though I may well have a mild addiction to them (now) thanks to Sarah.

I could go into specifics on the tour, that would spoil the tour though. I'll just leave pictures.

This tour was an excellent way to spend at least 2 hours of time (may have been closer to 3) in Stockholm. The old town is beautiful and Sarah enhanced the enjoyment with her added knowledge.

We took the Old Town Tour of Stockholm with Kiki - she was a wonderful and experienced guide. She knew all the historical information, was able to show us interesting things about living in the time, and gave great recommendations for visiting/tours/restaurants in Stockholm today. Well worth the time to get an overview and the historical background - it always helps to appreciate what you are seeing when you know more about it and the past.

We had a lovely girl guiding us around Tbe Old Town in Stockholm, she was a terrific guide, with a colourful character, enormous amount of knowledge which she delivered with humour and clarity.
Sadly I cannot remember her name. it was something like Valentina and she had only been in Sweden a short time, which amazed us considering her knowledge.

A tour is highly dependent on the guide and ours was very nice, but new to Stockholm and the guide business. All the key sites and points were covered, but it was explained as if reading out of a guide book…there was no further back stories or interesting anecdotes about the city, people or culture.

Because of the guide’s limited in-depth knowledge of the city, the 2 hour tour lasted just short of 1.5 hours. All in all, the walking tour still provided a good background and orientation to Gamla Stan…just best if done on front-end of your visit.

Tour was supposed to be two hours and was less than 1 hour and 15 minutes. Guide didn't seem to know much, indeed didn't seem to understand the questions being asked. She told us about "ground zero" which should have been "point zero" and she said it was somewhere other than it was. She didn't know that the German Church was Lutheran or why the Swedish Royal family attends a German Church. She kept looking at her phone and reciting facts. It was pretty bad. When we asked a Church employee the answers to our questions, they were answered, but when I tried to pass that info along to our guide, she was uninterested. I know those seem like small details but in a 75 minute tour the German Church was about 10% of the total tour. What's worse, I thought the price was in CAD but it was in USD so we paid more than $60 each for this quick and superficial tour. Do not recommend. Maybe your guide will be better...

It was a great tour, which happened to have just me as a visitor, so it turned out to be more relaxing and personal, than the normal ones.
Sofia knows a great deal about the history of the city and was eager to share useful info regarding good restaurants and spots to visit afterwards.
    Thanks, Sofia!

I booked a last minute tour for today. This morning I got email saying "We're sorry, but Tours of Stockholm has canceled your booking.". They proceeded to refund me...0 SEK (vs. the 550 SEK I already paid for the tour). I called the proprietor (Faizal Luttamaguzi) who said he'll look into it and then blocked my further calls.

We learnt some things about the old town and the history in general. If I compare it to other tours, it lacked pzazz and humour.

Also I booked it as it was described as imaginative taking us back in time with story telling. This tour fell short of that.

Let’s just say the young woman did her best but it wasn’t memorable in any way, unlike other tours we’ve done. I’m not sure she was feeling her best so maybe we didn’t get her best. Nothing personal just honest.

Great visit. Sophia made us love the city thanks to her detailed knowledge of its history. Gamla Stan has very few secrets for her. The anecdotes are tasty, the points of interest chosen with discernment and very well presented. Many thanks for this visit.
