This was a tour I would highly recommend to anyone interested in Viking history, but also for people who want to see the outskirts of the city, the houses there and the surrounding area. Great views and above all very well told history and interesting knowledge. Our guide adapted to the group and answered every question, he also knew a lot of interesting facts. The whole trip passed very quickly and pleasantly!
Many thanks to our wonderful guide Jonathan and of course to the great driver :)

Thanks a lot for this beautiful review and I'm very happy to hear you enjoyed this Viking tour a lot. Reviews like this makes us really proud and happy over our wonderful team of coworkers. As you write we also se and experience a lot of other things worth mentioning apart from viking history who is just as interesting as the history who are told. Good to hear that Jonathan adapted to the group and managed to answer your questions. I've send him this and he got very happy. Jonathan sends you his regards, he hopes your flight home went well and want to say thanks for a lot of funny and interesting discussions about books, history and Sweden compare to Poland and the cultural differences between them. Finally both him, and I, hope to meet you again in the future. Take care :-) / Owe, owner of Sweden History Tours.

The two of us went on this tour with our guide Jonathan and our driver Kenneth. It was very interesting ad made much more so because of Jonathan's expertise about everything having to do with Viking culture. Both men were also great company. Because I am disabled it was a challenge for all of us, but their kindness and patience were much appreciated. The tour consisted mainly of three parts: the 1000 year old memorial stones with Runic inscriptions; several 800-year old churches, and a walk through Sigtuna, Sweden's oldest city. We'll worth the money!!

My tour met all my needs. I wanted some history of Viking times which our guide Gabriel was excellent and went beyond my expectations. I wanted to see the country side which was breathtaking and lakes abundant. I wanted to experience the first town of Sweden Sigtuna. What a quaint town and located in the country off the beaten path. The old churches from 900-1200 where amazing. My local lunch was delicious as well. I would highly recommend this tour and especially with Gabriel.

We booked this tour (and went completely out of our way to do so) because the way it was written and advertised made it seem as if we were going to visit some proper village that still existed from the vikings. It included 5 hours of driving around, getting out of the car for 20 minutes at a time and hearing a story and look at a stone, over and over. Don't get me wrong, the scenic drive is lovely and the guide, Angus, is very knowledgeable, but this was very expensive for what you got. The mead was nice but I could have bought my own 7 eleven cinnabon myself or waited to get a real one in town when i got back. Overall, whilst this was an interesting history lesson, I don't think I would go again.

Hello! There are not and has never been anything written about visiting a still preserved Viking village. There are not preserved Viking village still existing as it looked in the Viking age. It is possible that you have been reading our older tour description for the 8-hour tour (you took the 5 hour by the way). In that now removed 8-hour tour it says that we visit a reconstructed Viking village. That is now removed however because the staff at that RECONSTRUCTION where not able to take all our groups. If any guest reading this still wanna go there, then we can do so on a private tour, it is a great place. But we have never mentioned that you go to a real Viking village. How ever we travel to Sigtuna, a town dating back to the Viking age. The main street runs the same way as it did in the Viking age, but the houses are from the 18th century. There are plenty of archeological Viking History in Sigtuna that we present and vizualize on the 5 and 8 hour Viking tours. I heavely appreciate that you like my guiding and the cinnamon bun was just a friendly gesture from my side. Thanks a lot for taking the tour. Angus was our tour guide, and he extremely knowledgeable about Viking history. He showed our group several runestones, we learned about Viking history and burial grounds (mounds), and visited the old city of Sigtuna. A special feature was to learn about a female Viking (Estrid) Estrid was a rich and powerful 11th-century Swedish woman whose long family saga has been recorded on runestones. This Estrid was the maternal grandmother of the chieftain Jarlabanke.

Hello Jerry! Thanks for your kind words. It is indeed a very interesting life story that the county museum has put forward for Estrid. I really like to share the details of it. To both you and others reading this review: Eventhough I have the most rave reviews on TA, we have other great guides that regularly works for us. These also has great reviews, like Jonathan, Calle, Nadia for example. I and my guide team look forward to meeting you in the near future. Gabriel was great and he explained everything there is to know about the Vikings. He also answered all of our questions. We realised afterwards that we actually knew nothing about them, but that by the end of tour we knew a lot. It is a must tour when you are in Stockholm. The tour will allow you to learn about the Vikings, and also watch magnificent scenery. Gabriel made us feel like royalty.
Side note, we left our camera battery by mistake in the car, and he was gracious enough to return it to our hotel.

Really enjoyed time with Sven our guide, he was knowledgeable, easy to talk to and eager to answer any questions.
Following the Time trail provided some background that I didn't have about Vikings, their clans and lives. Enjoyable day trip. Sven also provided information on a few Swedish restaurants that we could chase up if desired that night or during our stay. We found two which were great and so worth a drop in.
Only negatives were the car was too small for Sven and four passengers, it could only fit three passengers comfortably which meant our shoulders overlapped in the back seat... quite uncomfortable during travel.

Sorry to hear about the uncomfortable car, that is something that rarely happens and probably one of our bigger tour cars where elsewhere during your date. I'm happy to hear that it was nothing wrong with the tour and that you enjoyed Svens information.. Best regards Jonathan

My husband and I were looking forward to seeing a bit more of Sweden than just Stockholm on our 5 days here. We booked a small group half day tour of the countryside to see the ruins and learn about the Viking history. Our guide was a very nice retired man who took our small group of 7 all around on Easter Sunday morning. Although friendly, he didn't seem that knowledgeable about what we were seeing when we stopped at designated places (not offering any additional information that wasn't already shared in the signs) and didn't offer much commentary when we were traveling from place to place in the vehicle. We stopped for a "lunch" at a farm house/restaurant that offered family style Swedish food items. My husband and I didn't care for the food offerings at all and couldn't wait to return to Stockholm for a late lunch.

Hello Zimkim! My name is Angus Carlsson and I am the owner of Sweden History Tours/Time Travel Tours. The farm house is no longer a part of our Viking tours, it is our competitor who goes there. I know their guests usually likes that however, but it is probably not something for everyone. Regarding the guide. In the early 2018 we tried out different guides because we needed new staff for the summer and our tours where still quite new; the company was growing rapidly as well. We have now collected opinions on different guides from customers through papers surveys that we were running on some of the tours. With the information from these surveys we are starting to pin down the number of guides and choose only the most popular and knowledgeable. We are also planning to employ guides on more regular contracts so they get the best possible understanding of the subject and organization of the tour. During 2019 we will be 4 carefully picked guides that will run the vast vast majority of the tour. If we need additional guides, then we will scan their knowledge much more critically by letting them answer questions about the Vikings and the different tour stops.
