          Viking Tour
Gabriel had extensive knowledge and made the whole trip interesting. Scenery was beautiful and people on tour very nice. In Uppsala the snow was thick so we sunk in it which made us laugh.

Great tour with our guide, Gabriel!
I booked this tour as a fun surprise for my husband, who loves vikings, and we were not disappointed! Our guide, Gabriel, was absolutely wonderful and so knowledgable. He tailored the tour to our interests, and we had a great day with him. All of the stops were very interesting, and even in the winter, very beautiful. If you are interested in viking history, this tour is perfect!

          An area rich in history!
We took a day trip from Stockholm, and truly enjoyed seeing a different part of the country. The train ride was lovely, and navigating around the town was easy. The University, Cathedral, and Museum were all very interesting. Walking around the burial mounds in learning more about the history of the area was wonderful

Look elsewhere for more professional companies.
Just straight up stood us up. No warning, cancellation…anything. Waited 30 minutes in the cold. They claimed they “forgot.” Yes they refunded us but it killed an evening in Stockholm we had reserved for this. Look elsewhere for more professional companies.

          Brilliant!
This is one of the best historical tours I've taken in my 5 weeks touring Europe. Our guide Calle answered all our questions. He was helpful, very friendly, knowledgeable and professional from start to finish. It was a long day but his enthusiasm never waned. It was so worth it and I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to know more about the Vikings.

Great Stockholm tour with historical aspects
The tour guide was great. We have learned so many things about Stockholmm and saw places we would have never seen as tourists alone. We enjoyed Jonathans historical overview. Definitely recommend!

          Excellent Tour, Easy to Plan
A large part of what I do for work (I'm a personal assistant) is make travel arrangements. The couple I work for LOVED their private Viking History tour and raved about their wonderful guide, Asa Ovrelid. She was incredibly knowledgeable and delightful to be around and it was a highlight of their trip. I arranged everything via email with Jonathan - he was responsive, easy to work with, answered my ten bajillion questions, and best of all, everything went exactly as scheduled. Five stars!!

          a good choice
very interesting to do as first activity, in order to enter Swedish culture and history. Well designed also the program, with the right balance of the stops during the day. We ha an excellent assistant, Bianca, who drove us all day making us feel in a friend's car. Also Gabriel the guide was very interesting and never boring in his descriptions. I recommend this tour.

          Nice Viking history.
Friendly, knowledgeable guide and the Rune stones and their story made the trip for me, sigtuna was nice for the history but otherwise underwhelming. The Viking story was good but hard to relate it to any specific sites. Nevertheless a good all around history tour.

A really enjoyable tour. Calle went out of his way to show us the main sights and was very well informed and interesting. He also dropped us at a nice restaurant after the tour.

          Great time learning Viking history!
Had an awesome time! Gabriel was an excellent and knowledgeable tour guide, and it was great to learn so much about Viking history. One note for the tour company—it was a little hard to hear the tour guide’s commentary in the car (I was also in the back so that could have been it), or maybe a mic issue. Also note to anyone planning to do this tour in the near future—would definitely recommend bug spray because the mosquitoes were out in force. But besides that, was an amazing experience and would recommend to anyone!

Outstanding Sigtuna and Uppsala Day Tour!
What an excellent trip! Can't say enough about this tour! It was very personable and unlike any other tour we have been on. Our guide, Calle and the second driver, Bianca were just amazing. Absolutely enjoyed the day. While my husband Dan was able to enjoy the entire experience, I have some mobility issues. However, Calle and Bianca were so accommodating and made extra efforts to ensure I was able to experience as much as I could. We had been to Sigtuna once before, but this trip was much better and we learned so much more. Very highly recommend it!!

Our guide Gabriel (whose name we only found out at the end of the tour when he gave us his namecard) is knowledgeable on the history of the Vikings/Sigtuna, and his narration was interesting. However we were disappointed with the following:
        1. Gabriel said we were late BUT we were given the pick up time at 9.40-9.50am at our hotel. We were ready since 9.30am. But the Driver Helen was friendly as she met us at 9.45am.
        2. We had no introduction at the start of the tour when we arrived to meet the guide. There was no information of the itinerary, where we were (each location - we had to asked each time) and what to expect.
        3. There was no time given to walk around Sigtuna town or take photos. We were also not briefed on toilet facilities/break which we had to find by ourselves whilst the tour continued.  AND no lunch time alloted (the tour website stated 40 mins lunch break). The guide told us that there was no lunch break (that was at 1.15pm). He said if we wanted a lunch break, he would skip the remaining sector of the tour, and we could use that time for lunch. He said we had to depart Sigtuna at 1.45pm to head back to Stockholm City as he said the tour ends at 2.30pm. He also mentioned explicitly that we were late (see item 1).

We were disappointed with the lack of planning and poor time management; and the itinerary on the website was not accurate. Overall we felt shortchanged and let down.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable. The tour was great. We saw many Viking runes in out of the way areas that we would not have found on our own. Sigtuna was a quaint town, with a few shops. We had enough time to wander the town. The van was comfortable but there was no AC, so it did get stuffy. We were packed in, so that became uncomfortable as the day continued.

Very good tour. Really interesting and our guide, Emma, was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. She also spoke a bit about legends and myths which was fun. We saw some cool ruins and etchings from centuries ago. We took the shorter tour and I think that was the perfect length. Make sure to bring sturdy shoes because you'll need to walk quickly because there is a lot to see.

There was very little about viking history to see on this tour. No artifacts or old buildings. Only a series of carved stones with very similar markings. One or two would have been enough. Sigtuna is nothing to see. The tour was supposed to be 4 hours long, but lasted seven.

Hi, first and foremost thanks for for taking your time to tell about your tour giving us important improving information. I'm so sorry to hear about your disappointment with our Viking tour. Regarding the tour time we've a 3-4h tour and than this 5-6h as well as a longer one. It seems you booked the wrong length and I'm sorry to hear that as you probably had other things planned, also I'm sorry to hear you went over time on this 5h tour. Regarding artifacts we're working on gathering recreated copies on artifact's to show on our tours. Sadly there are no viking buildings left sadly as all are build in wood, and if it was we would have showed them. The rune stones are the main source material we've left and we visit diffirent sites with a parlament, a brigde and a grave fields as well but would need to tell that guide to focus more on them as well I feel from reading your experience but all of these have these rune stones at the sites telling stories.

My tour met all my needs. I wanted some history of Viking times which our guide Gabriel was excellent and went beyond my expectations. I wanted to see the country side which was breathtaking and lakes abundant. I wanted to experience the first town of Sweden Sigtuna. What a quaint town and located in the country off the beaten path. The old churches from 900-1200 where amazing. My local lunch was delicious as well. I would highly recommend this tour and especially with Gabriel.

We booked this tour (and went completely out of our way to do so) because the way it was written and advertised made it seem as if we were going to visit some proper village that still existed from the vikings. It included 5 hours of driving around, getting out of the car for 20 minutes at a time and hearing a story and look at a stone, over and over. Don't get me wrong, the scenic drive is lovely and the guide, Angus, is very knowledgeable, but this was very expensive for what you got. The mead was nice but I could have bought my own 7 eleven cinnabon myself or waited to get a real one in town when i got back. Overall, whilst this was an interesting history lesson, I don't think I would go again.

Hello! There are not and has never been anything written about visiting a still preserved Viking village. There are not preserved Viking village still existing as it looked in the Viking age. It is possible that you have been reading our older tour description for the 8-hour tour (you took the 5 hour by the way). In that now removed 8-hour tour it says that we visit a reconstructed Viking village. That is now removed however because the staff at that RECONSTRUCTION where not able to take all our groups. If any guest reading this still wanna go there, then we can do so on a private tour, it is a great place. But we have never mentioned that you go to a real Viking village. How ever we travel to Sigtuna, a town dating back to the Viking age. The main street runs the same way as it did in the Viking age, but the houses are from the 18th century. There are plenty of archeological Viking History in Sigtuna that we present and vizualize on the 5 and 8 hour Viking tours. I heavely appreciate that you like my guiding and the cinnamon bun was just a friendly gesture from my side. Thanks a lot for taking the tour. Angus was our tour guide, and he extremely knowledgeable about Viking history. He showed our group several runestones, we learned about Viking history and burial grounds (mounds), and visited the old city of Sigtuna. A special feature was to learn about a female Viking (Estrid) Estrid was a rich and powerful 11th-century Swedish woman whose long family saga has been recorded on runestones. This Estrid was the maternal grandmother of the chieftain Jarlabanke.

Hello Jerry! Thanks for your kind words. It is indeed a very interesting life story that the county museum has put forward for Estrid. I really like to share the details of it. To both you and others reading this review: Eventhough I have the most rave reviews on TA, we have other great guides that regularly works for us. These also has great reviews, like Jonathan, Calle, Nadia for example. I and my guide team look forward to meeting you in the near future. Gabriel was great and he explained everything there is to know about the Vikings. He also answered all of our questions. We realised afterwards that we actually knew nothing about them, but that by the end of tour we knew a lot. It is a must tour when you are in Stockholm. The tour will allow you to learn about the Vikings, and also watch magnificent scenery. Gabriel made us feel like royalty.
Side note, we left our camera battery by mistake in the car, and he was gracious enough to return it to our hotel.

Thanks for your review and happy to hear that your tour was informative and pleasing. I'm happy that you got a lot with you from this tour and that he was able to leave your battery at the hotel. Will send this to him to let him know your thoughts. /Jonathan
