About
Exploring a city’s food scene without a guide can mean you don't get the full story behind the dishes you try. This half-day tour gives you the scoop on both Copenhagen’s hottest and most traditional eating spots, markets, and dishes, providing a well-rounded, yet up-to-the-minute take on its cuisine. Plus, the tastings equate to a light meal, so you don’t need to eat before or after.

Highlights
  • Get an insider's take on Copenhagen’s new and classic food on a half-day tour
  • Includes drinks: savor three craft beers and Danish apple wine
  • Generous tastings that amount to a light meal
What to expect
  • Meet your guide in central Copenhagen and set off to explore its food repertoire. The city has emerged as a foodie hotspot, with many chefs eschewing historical Danish dishes for lighter, fresher dishes. Your tour reflects this, covering both the city’s contemporary and traditional foods. Locations vary from tour to tour, so the places mentioned don’t provide a definitive list of the outlets you’ll visit. Explore Torvehallerne market and try some artisanal cheeses at Arla Unika, one of Copenhagen’s trendiest cheese vendors, before sampling treats such as preserves and caramels at the Bornholmer shop. After enjoying some Danish apple wine, visit the Aamanns café for smørrebrød (open rye sourdough sandwiches topped with largely organic and free-range ingredients). Enjoy three craft beers at Nørrebro Bryghus, savor a hot-dog bite at the Ecological Hot Dog Stand, and lastly, visit Summerbird Chocolate to dig into its flødeboller (chocolate-covered marshmallows).   Your tour then finishes at the starting point.

Highly Recommended
Alltogether a great experience! Our Guide (Catherine) was a very friendly, experienced and competent woman from Copenhagen. The tour took about 4 hours and was a nice mix of trying local foods, learning about the development of the local cuisine and walking through nice parts of the city.
We have been a party of 3 couples and my girlfriend and I loved the experience and highly recommend it for anybody who would like to experience Copenhagen in a non-standard way!

Not good value for money
Mar 2020
The tour was interesting but certainly not a good value for money. Learned some new things about the traditional cuisines. I do not recommend this tour.

Great tour to do with friends (tip: don't eat beforehand...)
Feb 2020
Two friends from London and myself (originally from Denmark but now living in Switzerland) went on this well organised and incredibly interesting and educational (and tasty!) foodtour last week. Our guide, Maria, was knowledgable and approachable. My friends and I all agreed that despite the weather we couldn't have asked for a better experience. I knew this was going to be the perfect tour when we started with one of my favourite Danish sweets. All the food we tasted and places we visited were linked together to historical and current facts about Denmark, the Danes and Danish food.

Best Tour I've ever taken
Dec 2019
I was hesitant to sign up for this culinary tour at first because of the price, but it was absolutely worth it. I learned so much about Copenhagen's history and its present culture all while hopping to various eateries. The tour managers kindly organized a vegetarian option for me so that I was able to fully participate in the experience. The variety and quality of food was excellent, and our guide did such a great job providing some context for each place she took us. I would do this again!

Food and Fun with Maria
Jan 2020 • Family
What a wonderful time with our guide, Maria! My 17 year old son and I learned more about Denmark in the 4.5 hours we spent with Maria than we had in the entire few days prior to the food tour! Maria is so very personable and extremely knowledgeable on many subjects and is conversational in 6 languages. The tour is well organized and provides many different kinds of Danish cuisine for tasting! So arrive hungry because there is much to eat! The walking tour also allows you to see much of downtown Copenhagen and parts off the beaten path which was fabulous for us! This is a must do tour and with this guide! Viator is an excellent source for tours all over the world. We have been using them for over ten years in 50 countries! Once again they did not disappoint! Thank you Viator and big Thank you to Maria!!
