About
Enjoy a beautiful trip in our tour boat on Odense Å. We sail from Odense City to the forest in Fruens Bøge. The whole trip is surrounded by the most beautiful beech trees and you do not find that you are in the center of Odense. You have the opportunity to disembark in the forest of Madame Bøge and go for a walk, enjoy a picnic basket or have lunch in one of the surrounding restaurants, and take a later departure back. You can also stay aboard the boat and sail out and home in the same trip. The tour takes 1 hour (2x30 min).

Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Kristina L0 contributionsNice tripMe and my husband enjoyed this 1 h trip. We had a picnic basket with us with some snacks and drinks. Nice to see Odense from another perspectiveWritten July 12, 2018
- Heidi26280 contributionsA bit disapointing...We were a bit disapointed. We were expecting to be able to See more during the ride, but all you could See were a few very expensive houses and a few H. C. Andersen themes, the rest were hidden away by bushes and trees. Dont get me wrong it was beutifull, but a bit dull. Dont expect to have a full hour ride as promised, because you leave 10 min late from the starter point, and waits 15 min at the last stop, so you basically only sail for 35 min.Written June 18, 2018
- Loly V0 contributionsNot anything to seeUnless you want to rest for an hour and see trees and inhabitations 45€ per person for an hour. You can also rent pedalos.Written May 2, 2018
- Julian J0 contributionsGood for a rest and see Denmark from a different perspectiveThis is a lovely way to relax and see the views from the river. I suggest doing it in the morning as many of the passengers, including my 3 companions all fell asleep in the warm, gently rocking cruise and missed most of it. It is hard not to doze off if you have been walking all day.Written August 28, 2017
- Lee63550 contributionsLovely and relaxingThis is a great river experience. It's very laid back and relaxing. There are not any sights as such but the river is just delightful on a nice spring day. There are some HCA surprises along the way to be on the look out for. It was a great way to sit and enjoy the scenery after walking around all day. I highly recommend it. Young children will get a kick out of it. The whole cruise only takes 50 minutes.Written June 7, 2016
- Jennifer D0 contributionsRelaxing and great viewing. An hour long - great to do in the summer - it is just a way of relaxing for an hour and checking out the views - very pretty. Stops at the Zoo if you were wishing to go and would pick you up later and return to your place of origin. It runs every hour on the hour - the last run being at 5.00pmWritten June 7, 2016
- Ulrikb_1230 contributionsVery relaxing trip on the 'river'...When the weather is nice this is a perfect way to spend a few hours. Take the boat all the way to the 'Skovsøen' (a small pond) and treat yourself to an icecream at "Frits' vafler". Then either sit and enjoy the scenery at the pond or walk around it (10-15 mins) before you take the boat back again. Or you could also embark at Odense Zoo which also comes highly recommended.Written April 26, 2016
- Gavin S0 contributionsLive a little! In August i was fortunate to take the river cruise in Odense. I was really glad i did. Slow, beautiful and relaxing the only worry i had was wondering if my camera could capture every scene along the river. Starting at the Afart, purchase a ticket and have an ince cream, snack or coffee at the riverside cafe. remember to go to the bathroom first... you'll be on the boat for 30 minutes one-way. My advice is to only hop-off at the Zoo, or stay on the boat for the trip back. A romantic, scenic trip on clean, dry, covered riverboats. Highly recommended.Written September 2, 2015
- 64Aviator0 contributionsA Great Place to Take the Kids (and a Romantic Spot for Couples too)! The Odense Aafart offers several options for couples or families. Our family took the HC Andersen Fairy Tale Tour on a whim, as part of the visit 3 Andersen sites of Odense (and get a souvenir take-way: one-legged tin soldier). It was a scenic ride along the river and a great way to see a part of Odense that most out-of-towners would never see. Luxury homes along the river, charming parks, and the Odense Zoo - you have the option to get off if you want to explore the zoo. One of the perks of the cruise is that you can bring your own food or beverages - including wine (wish we had)! Other options at the Aafart include paddle boats, or simply grab a bench and enjoy the quaint park. For kids, there are tons of parks, many with Hans Christian Andersen themes to them. Or take a long walk (or run) along the miles and miles of trails that follow the river.Written August 20, 2015
- 27Andre270 contributionsBasic tour is boring and too longJust took the trip today and my wife and I were disappointed. There are several theme tours such as the HC Andersen fairy tale tour or the Jazz tour. But then there is also the regular tour without any commentary or any other special things. You just sail down the river for 30 minutes and then return the same way for another 30 minutes. Apart from a few nice houses that you pass and a small stretch where the boat passes the Zoo, there is nothing to see. The only nice thing about the river is its nature and that for sure is better enjoyed from a pedal boat where you are closer to the water and where you do not have the engine noise.Written July 23, 2014

We took the Aafort Cruise to Fruens Bøge then walked to Funen Village, reversing the route to return to central Odense. We enjoyed the relaxing stream under the trees and seeing several attractive homes.
I am sad to see below that another visitor was not accommodated in English. We most certainly were, both on the outward voyage and the return. Our captain specifically asked if everyone could understand Danish and repeated his Danish announcements for us in English when we indicated we needed help.
It was interesting to see that this cruise seems to be popular with locals going to Fruens Bøge. We rode with several groups of parents and grandparents with babies in prams who got out for forest walks and an entire bridal shower loaded up to celebrate in the woods. When I read that similar outings to Fruens Bøge were popular even in Hans Christian Andersen's time, I felt part of the Odense culture.

The boat trip was very relaxing and slow-paced. Check-in was quick and smooth. We thought there was more to see, but we can still recommend the trip. Our 7-year-old daughter also enjoyed it and for the equivalent of 40 euros for 3 people, it was great.

Relaxing, tranquil, nice and shaded allowing for some time out of the sun. Some pretty estates along the river, however not much more to look at other than normal greenery next to a river. Overall, a nice break from walking. The cafe next to boat launch has some great coffee, fresh pressed juice, and nice wine or beer selection for before or after your sailing.

Vil was a group of 22 people who had booked a return sailing with a bit of food in the form of sandwiches and beer/water and chips.
Everything was ready when we arrived and what was ordered was delivered by a friendly staff. Our sandwiches were fresh and tasty and the beer and water were cold and mouth-watering.
We were lucky enough to get our own boat, so we had plenty of space and could walk around a bit and chat with each other.
A very pleasant experience and a good start to a birthday party

A fantastic trip with 100% idyll! The trip takes an hour if you do not choose to step off and stand on later. The boat stops at the zoo and at Fruens Bøge. You can bring your own food and drink. Can highly recommend.

The trip in itself was OKish. A bit of cruise on the Odense city river with view on people’s back gardens. 30 minutes there and 30 minutes back. The driver was constantly only speaking in Danish without any English translation. We tried to speak with him and he only spoke back in Danish. Not for Internatiol tourists.

It is a very beautiful, nice and quiet trip. It is also a huge plus that the ferry is electric. If you take to the end station “Frugens bøge”, you can go to the Fyn village. Approx. 900 meters.

It was a nice trip on with the boat as you can see parts of Odense from different perspective. Definitely something for family’s with kids as you can get from city center to the zoo and back afterwards.

I found this to be a very gentle relaxing boat ride down a smooth river, we took a normal cruise, there was a party boat and a Hans Christian Andersen boat in front of us, we all left punctually and was pretty calm and nice
The weather was awful but the boat was dry, so that didn’t dampen the trip
It takes about an hour to go down the river and back, basically one way and turn round and back the other way, pretty uneventful cruising
We stopped twice, once at ødense zoo and once at the turn round point
You can see nice houses on one side and parts of the zoo on the other, but trees and bushes tended to be the main vista
There’s also some fairytale things to see, I don’t know the relevance but was a nice break to shrubbery
It’s a nice trip, costs 190kr for two and I can’t really make it sound any more exciting, it was very pleasant but not life changing
