- AllisonM5480 contributionsMagnifientA great way to spend the first afternoon and evening in Meteora. Nancy was amazing - her knowledge and stories were really mesmerising, as were the views. We loved this trip. Highly recommendWritten September 12, 2024
- patriciafO1835BV0 contributionsGreat tourWe really enjoyed the tour. The view was amazing and the guides did a good job. Some things that we think could be improved: - After arriving in Kalambaka, we had to change to smaller bus ses that took us to our hotels. It wasn't well organised, since they left some people at the changing place and had to come back for them. - On the second day, we had a morning tour where we visited 3 monasteries. We'd enjoyed the tour more if they gave us more time per monastery, especially since after the tour we had a 5 hours break until our return to Athens. - The bus from Athens to Kalambaka had a toilet which was closed.Written September 11, 2024
- O6122UMmarcc0 contributionsAmazing day in MeteoraIt was the highlight of our trip, absolutely gorgeous, and our tour guide Maria was amazing and had extremely good knowledge of the area.We highly recommend the tour, it's a bucket list item!Written September 11, 2024
- aaemam0 contributionsTrain to train Meteora tourIt was a great tour. Everything was handled great. They picked us up and dropped us off on time. Great tour guide, plenty of time to explore and take pictures. Very comfortable transportation to the sites. I would do it again.Written September 10, 2024
- Irina4520 contributionsTour, you have to takeWe absolutely loved the tour, the drivers on a bus from Athens to Kalambaka, from Kalambaka to Meteora and, of course, the guide. These people are just wonderful. We absolutely recommend themWritten September 8, 2024
- 61changm0 contributionsNot recommendedMaria did great job👏the problem is the bus arrive late. We actually started at 9:20 and finish at 12:40, and three tour does not including visit to hermit cave, we just drive pass by it from far distance, u gotta be honest and remove that on the itinerary. My friend who booked from Meteora Trip (the other travel agency) which is only 16 ppl on the minivan and start on time at 8:45 and finish the trip at 1:00, from I experienced, I would recommend Meteora Trip then Meteora Thrones.Written September 7, 2024
- annekatrieng0 contributionsThere where the Earth reaches up to the Heavens aboveNancy was an amazing tour guide, who was well informed about all the questions we asked and she was always gracious and helpful to help us get out of the car, to pick us up, etc and in-between stops when waiting for other people she was open for conversation. The bus from Athens to Meteora is highly comfortable and the lunch is surprisingly good, even if you choose vegetarian option. The road shop is your typical tourist trap where everything is charged double or triple the price, so bring your own water, juice or soda. Of course this is coming from someone who lives and works in Greece, so as a tourist you're most likely used to these prices. Meteora itself is absolutely gorgeous, and I found myself truly admiring the monks and nuns who live here because the energy of the place is so beautiful. I can totally imagine them walking around the monastery after closing time wondering: "What did the tourists break this time?" But the time they do get to spend alone in the morning and evening must be absolutely beautiful for them. This is a must visit 🥰Written September 4, 2024
- jessrT6585FB0 contributionsBeautiful tour with very informative and fun guidesThis tour was perfect, I booked this tour last minute with my mother and we are both so glad we did. Our tour guide clemet was a great guide with plenty of information on the monasteries and sites around. He and our tour driver really made this tour stand out and we went on to book the morning tour the following day. Thank you guys for making our visit so memorable. Looking forward to visiting again, I highly recommend this tour group.Written September 4, 2024

- simonbH7054SW0 contributionsPhenomenal trip to the Meteora. What an excellent tour, organization was faultless from when we got on the bus in Athens until when we returned the day after. Tours were excellent, tour guides (Stacy & Clement) were so knowledgeable friendly and able to answer all questions. Service was very good, picked us up on time and provided recommendations for restaurants etc. Visiting the Meteora in a once in a lifetime experience for most people, what a wonderful experience. My only negative comment is that the hotel we stayed in is quite basic, I would say it’s more like a 2 star rather than a 3 star hotel, the staff were very nice, breakfast was very basic.Written September 2, 2024
- laurabF9532OD0 contributionsa very beautiful site with the constraints of an organized group tour.Meteora site is astonishing, and having a two days experience is a chance to take! We took the 3 stars option which was comfortable enough. That being said, some parts of this tour were amazing and some others to improve. On the first day we did visit the Meteora on the perspective of monastery and religion life while on the second day we chose the morning hiking which was more focused on the geological aspect of the region. This tour was our favorite. The first one was a lot of bus, we barely walked and our guide was not enough fluent in English. It looks like she was reciting a Wikipedia page. On top of that another group of the same tour but led by another guide was doing the same stops sometimes at the same time. We could hear comments in stereo and witness that the other guide gave more informations. Not really nice when you pay the same price but not for the same experience. The second thing that I would improve is the free time. On day one We had 2 or 3 hours which was ok to have lunch and rest from the 4 hours trip by bus. But the day after, once we had finished the hiking tour, we had 5 hours of waiting before the bus to come back to Athens. If Meteora site is amazing, the city is just average and the check out of the hotel done in the morning you just have to be byyourself. It’s like you are expected to buy in every shops of the city. First it was late with no explanation, and second it was already full certainly from people who went just for one day, eating in the bus (nice for the smell) and with not so many places left. When you have already waited for 5 hours, the 4 hours back on the bus is not a pleasure.Written August 30, 2024
- Rohmadhika0 contributionsBest day tour trip to Meteora from AthensWe are really happy with the tour, everything arranged smoothly & on time. We had a great time in Meteora with Klemens, our tour guide. He explained very well a lot of interesting informations, educational and delivered in funny way. He is very professional and helpful, I really recommended him if you take this trip. Meteora itself is very beautiful view, breathtaking! Visited the monasteries while learning the history and enjoying the view is one of our highlights during our trip to Greece.Written August 29, 2024
- L7380XAalexl0 contributionsEasy option for families with the young kids.13-14 hour commitment with about 4 hours of travel each way by air conditioned bus. Driver stopped twice each way for break/food/toilet. About 4 hours on a smaller bus once we got into meteora. Saw 3 monasteries and a bunch of pretty sights. Really nice trip and our guide Maria was amazing. Make sure to read the details of the trip before going. Monasteries charge $3 per adult or older kids in cash only, lunch and dinner spots took cards. Wonderful experience if you’re coming from Athens and don’t want to rent a car.Written August 28, 2024
- 818mariajose0 contributionsFantastic, informative, friendly and professional tours. We went on two Absolutely fantastic tours with this company on our three days in Kalambaka/Meteora. We did the sunset tour on our first day and then the morning tour. These two tours covered all monasteries. We went into four in total, one on the sunset tour and three on the morning tour. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable about the monasteries, history and the area and geography. Very professional and friendly. Coaches on both days were modern, comfortable and lovely air conditioned. There is not much climbing or walking on the sunset tour as you only visit inside one monastery, and if your tour is in the six days St Stephens is open, they visit the one, which is the easiest to visit with just s bridge going across at car park level. Would highly recommend this company for anyone wanting to visit and learn about the monasteries, caves, churches and area.Written August 27, 2024
- 120paup0 contributionsNot a real 4h tourWe were a bit disappointed because we thought It was 4h tour including the monasteries. But the guide It was just in the minibus which is máximum 1h, the rest you are in the monasteries by yourself. You have to pay the monasteries too (not included in the tour). So we felt a bit bad because we could have done It in our rental car and maybe book a guide inside the monasteries. I feel It would be unfair if I don't mention that our guide in the bus was very good and told us very interesting things. On the other hand, Meteora IS AMAZING, doing it by yourself or with tour.Written August 23, 2024

Meteora advised that train travel was not possible so we went by public bus which was bearable but then learnt that the trains were ok. So this was a mix up.
The tours and hotel were good.

I rarely enjoy guided tours because they rush you and prevent you from enjoying the attractions that maybe, you will only see once in your life. I took it because I was travelling alone for work and I badly wanted to see Meteora. it's the second most visited place in Greece. This tour was a rare exception; I am very surprised. You get an afternoon tour that makes plenty of stops, gives you plenty of time in each spot, lets you visit 1 monastery (accessible) and waits for you to enjoy the sunset on a rock. Yes, the rock is crowded... The following day you get a general tour of another 4 monasteries. Be prepared to climb many stairs and slopes. In each one of them you get about an hour; not a lot but enough for most people. the guides were good, quite knowledgeable and friendly. In the afternoon tour the owner of the company insisted on using a big bus that doesn't really fit in these medieval streets and we wasted a lot of time, but well, he is the owner.
Other arrangements. At the moment it is not possible to travel by train. It has to be done by coach. You get the usual cranky driver, but the buses are comfortable, reliable, and on time. The local part (Trikala to Kalambaka) it's a regular bus. Instructions are quite clear, it's not difficult to make it. the agency has arranged it perfectly.
The 3* hotel is ok for one night; all furniture worn but functional, clean and with great views from the balcony. there are many places to eat in the village with good food and friendly service.
I recommend this excursion a lot

The tour had to be canceled at the last moment - and unfortunately after my departure from Thessaloniki towards Kalambaka - due to Cyclone Daniel which hit central Greece hard (7 September). The Agency, after due clarifications and apologies, immediately refunded the amount I paid. I hope to have the opportunity to visit Meteora in the near future and in this case I will certainly turn to Meteora Thrones.

Absolutely great tour. Transfer from Thessaloniki and hotel in Kalambaka included. Friendly and competent guides, impressive program. Two-day tour allows a great combination of nature experiences (especially at sunset!) and a visit to the monasteries the next morning. Very practical, especially if you are traveling without a car.

We thought that women were not permitted inside the monasteries.
