- NoafSeg850 contributionsExcellent! My children saw the pirate boat as we were walking by the harbour and wanted to go on the day trip. I was a bit hesitant thinking it’ll be a party boat with all day drinking. Actually it was our best day of the holiday! Food was good, we aren’t big drinkers but had a few. The staff were amazing even letting my little boy up to drive the boat (Lena was awesome!). The staff could not do enough, and the other guests were not the drunks I thought they might be! The stops were great though the sea was a bit strong that day so stay close to the boat and there was one stop that can’t be done anymore so was a slightly different location but it was fine. The return journey was lovely and relaxed. Would highly recommend and would definitely look to do this or another trip with this company again.Written January 3, 2025

The host, Petal, was unavailable, didn't answer calls or texts and when we eventually got hold of her and gave an ultimatum of an equivalent relocation, fix the problem by paying the power company or provide a full refund, she refused to co-operate and went AWOL. We had to pay for alternative accomodation and now seek redress through the Antigua legal system.Written October 26, 2024

- Stay639128275280 contributionsThe best cruise in GreeceHere's my experience at the Aphrodite Duchess... Me, my mum and stepdad was picked up by a minibus which is one of the optional extras when booking for the 6hr cruise. The minibus was on time and got us to our cruise booking on time too. The driver was very friendly asking how we are ext, and also very helpful in ensuring we were comfortable and. When we arrived at the Aphrodite Duchess, we queued up for roughly about 25 minutes whilst we waited for other people to turn up. When we did board the Aphrodite Duchess, we was offered coffee, drinks, alcohol and donuts. All of which was very good, especially the donuts. All the drinks were nice and cold, especially the beer which is kept in a barrel that's full to the brim with ice and cans of beer. We arrived at Anthony Quinn bay for our first swim and snorkel session. This location was probably my least favorite out of the 3 locations, this being because the water wasnt too clear but I'm not going to blame that on the host as water visibility can chance due to weather, temp and disturbances on the sea floor, however I did swim out a fair distance towards the rocks near the cliffs and you do see quite a few fish lurking there, som big ones I might add but plenty of little ones too. It's very calming. After 45 minutes of swimming around and snorkeling everyone headed back to the Aphrodite Duchess to head to the next location. Whilst on our way to traganou caves, the host and the staff prepared hotdogs for all the passengers. These were actually very nice, quite large, the hot dogs was maybe 12inch long, the hotdog buns were nice, soft with a hint of sweetness, similar to a brioche. They had ketchup and mustard as well which was also nice too. Eventually we arrived at traganou caves. The area was populated with other boat cruises, that's not a bad thing, it was quite nice seeing the other boats filled with people having a good time. The water here was a lot more clear than the first location. There wasn't much fish here, much less than the first location however, being able to see the sea floor and the light from the sun reflecting down into the ocean was much more visually pleasing than the first. Another 45 mins here before we got back on the boat. On our way the the 3rd and last location, the chef prepared the Greek BBQ and cooked some chicken on a stick along with a side of Greek salad and some bread, sounds simple but it's was very nice, the chicken was juicy and full of flavor, the Greek salad was refreshing and crisp and the bread was sort of like the cherry on top. We arrived at the last location which is falaraki. Here the water was incredibly clear, the best for underwater selfies, not much under the water other than sand but still very nice. This review is too long so I'll jump straight to my conclusion You should try this cruise out, the staff are incredibly friendly and I do believe it's family run too so it's nice to support a family that's in it to give people the best experience rather than just the money. We tipped on the way out, and to the bar maid, if you read this, this review is from Harry potter who only drinks pesi 😂 you may remember me. Thank you for the experience.Written October 10, 2024

We chose to go on this speedboat as it was appealing that it only took an hour. They also did the afternoon trip leaving at 3.15pm which was great with 2 young kids as we didn’t want it too hot walking around symi for the kids. It only stopped off at St George’s for pics which is absolutely stunning. The water is the bluest I’ve seen. We didn’t mind not swimming as we did a boat trip a few days before to other beaches at st Anthony Quinn etc and swam there but if you don’t do that then I would definitely recommend you take the earlier trip that allows you to swim in St George’s bay. As soon as I booked it I got an email checking that I was aware that it didn’t stop at St George’s bay which I thought was quite good. I suggest you get to the port early as the queue got really big. This allows you first on the boat and you can pick your seats once you get on. If I could I would give it a 4.5* as going out we had the worse trip ever. Apparently we got told after it was the worst weather they had experience which in my opinion they should have cancelled it as I’m sure they check the weather before travel. The kids thought it was brilliant getting soaked by 2 metre waves for the whole hour but as an adult I just saw it to be too dangerous to be taking this boat out. It did spoil my trip out there. I do think they need to suggest to put life jackets on everyone as soon as you get on the boat just to be on the safe side.
When we got to symi it was breathtaking. Made the bad boat trip worth the while. 3 hours was plenty of time in symi. We took a taxi to the monastery which took an hour there and back and we still had time to explore the shops. This was the best way to see symi, at the top. It was breathtaking. The building are amazing. It’s just so quirky and feels like you’re in a movie. Plenty of Restaurants to eat.
On the way back the boat ride was fine. Spoken to friends who went a few days before and their boat trip was fine also. Just a shame we hit the bad weather.
I would go again to symi but I think I would pay the extra and go on a bigger boat and make a day of it and stop off at different beaches and places

Absolutely stunning day out. This is an experience not to be missed. We booked online the night before, paying a €10 deposit and paid the rest in cash, when boarding the boat. We started our trip at Kiotari, swiftly boarded by the attentive and friendly guys and were underway in no time. The boat made 3 pick ups before we were out zipping pleasantly up the east coast to Rhodes Town, with incredible views of the acropolis of Lindos and various sea caves. Once the Rhodes trippers were off and the Symi trippers were onboard, the boat headed over open water to St.Georges Bay for a swim stop in it’s beautifully inky blue warm waters, this is a must, there is nothing quite like it!! After half an hour we were on our way around to Symi harbour. Cameras out at the ready as there is nowhere else as pretty as this view. We were off the boat for 3 full hours of meandering through the shops and beautifully colourful narrow alleys, taking in the harbour, clock tower and church, with plenty of time to hike the 500 steps to the monastery and to sit for lunch in one of the many tavernas before making the return journey. Dusk was falling so this time the acropolis was in perfect silhouette, and the sunsetting out west. Just incredible!! The captain and his team ensured our comfort, providing warm fleeces to protect from the sea breeze and they kept the boat clean and tidy throughout. A trip not to be missed!!

Can’t fault this trip. We wanted to get to Symi as quickly as possible ( was worried about being sea sick), have a good amount of time in Symi and an option to swim. This trip ticked all the boxes at a good price, but even better was the booking system that allowed you to be picked up and dropped back at the hotel at less than the price of a taxi. Service was great on time and a text message to confirm pick up time. Would definitely book with this company again. ❤️

We booked it as heard good things about Symi and fancied a day out. The boat ride was quick and smooth, just as advertised. I recommend getting to the boat boarding much earlier than they say as it forms quite a queue to board and if you are at the back your choice of seat would be very limited. Symi itself was a little disappointing. Just lots of shops selling the same things and not a great deal to see or do. Lots of restaurants but nothing you wouldn't find in Rhodes itself. Very hot as well due to being no breeze at that part of the island it definitely felt hotter than it was! You don't need very long in Symi at all so you definitely get plenty of time. The highlight for me was the swimming in St. George's bay! It was amazing and the water was incredible. It would be good if they gave you a bit longer here as it felt like they were very quick to get you out and back on the boat.
Would I do it again? Probably not. I would probably look at booking a boat tour to different coves on the island for swimming instead.

We booked the Symi boat trip with the kiosk on the harbour two days prior to the trip with hotel pick up (extra 5 euros per person) Our pick up time was 10am, however on the day we did not get picked up until 10.20 and was met with a long queue when we arrived. At approx 11am the staff announced that they had overbooked by 2 people and would need volunteers to off load themselves, f not, the boat would not depart, a free trip was offered for the next day, so we accepted.
Pick up time again was 10am, however driver did not show until 10.35, a few anxious texts were sent (luckily another couple were also waiting) we were assured he was on his way. Again big queue at the harbour, luckily staff from the day before recognised us and got us on the boat straight away, set off bang on time at 11am. First stop was St Georges bay (it should of been on the return), captain advised this was due to sea conditions later on, be warned this may happen, however lots of people jumped into the crystal seas, arrived in Symi and had approx 3 hours there, it's a beautiful island and well worth a visit. Boat left at 3.45, although you can get on about 3.25. The captain did advise that seats are not reserved, however it was obvious that people were angry that they did not have the same seats as going out, there are enough seats for everyone! Arrived back in Rhodes at 5pm.
Despite the stressful start to the day, we had a fantastic time and would recommend Rhodes Sea Lines, the catamaran is a brilliant way to get to this stunning Greek island.

Top visit, great in all aspects. Reservations are essential (we saw how people who arrived at the last minute without having booked were unable to board). Everything organized like clockwork. It leaves from the pier located right in front of the Central Bank building, at 11 o'clock, arriving around noon at the port of Symi, there you have three hours to get to know the city a little, take a walk, eat or buy a sponge or other souvenir ; At a quarter past three it leaves for San Jorge Bay, where it anchors as close to the beach as possible and you have half an hour to take a dip. It is advisable to bring a sweater or jacket in case it is too windy on one of the routes, although they offer windbreakers to those who have not brought one. For the price we pay it seemed like a great excursion!

It is a fast boat, and the trip from Rhodes town to Symi island does only take about an hour. Prior to Rhodes town, the boat picks up at other places further down the coast. We got on at Kolymbia, so had an extra hour on board as the boat sped up the coast to Rhodes town. You get about 3 hours to eat and mooch round the very picturesque harbour at Symi, and a brief swimming stop at pretty St George's bay on the way back. No food or drink sold on board, but there are toilets. The swim stop is from the boat only, so if you can't access the sea via metal rung steps or jumping in, or if you can't tread water for long you will probably just sit on board for 30 minutes whilst others swim. Also note the combination of fast boat and choppy Greek sea can result in a very bouncy and splashy trip. Anyone with back problems might suffer after an hour of being thrown around in their seat. The high price reflects the speed of the trip, so weigh this all up when considering other trip options. Other providers offer slower, more comfortable trips at less cost. Those issues aside, the trip does fulfil its objectives and is a good way to get a small taste of Symi, which is well worth a visit.

Note: booking via getyourguide be aware there are two options which are exactly the same but one is £10 more expensive. Better to book a place and pay on the day for €45. Coach to take us to the boat was on time and staff were helpful at Faliraki harbour. Unfortunately the boat was 40 minutes late to the pick up point and not "direct" as advertised, because we needed to change at Rhodes. The lady at the beach was not able to help, telling us it would only be 10 minutes late. The second boat was identical and was already half full by the time we arrived meaning we were not able to get any good seats. This cut our time in Symi by about 20 minutes which was a shame as it was a beautiful town with a lot to explore. The bay is nice to swim in but nothing spectacular, more interesting to swim on Karatha beach instead and I would recommend instead choose the Monestery option. You were not allowed to swim too far from the boat to explore the bay properly. Still a good trip worth doing if it runs on time.

Symi Island was beautiful and definitely worth visiting, but please read on, as this "fast" boat experience wasn't quite what we expected in terms of timing, itinerary, and overall quality. For your information, we went on this trip on Thursday 3 October, departing from Faliraki Beach. The weather was 29'celcius, no clouds or wind, and full sun - which were perfect conditions:
1) The 30-minute stop at St. George's Bay happens before arriving at Symi Island. This means you'll be wet by the time you reach Symi, which can be inconvenient. Although the listing mentions the stop beforehand, many reviews reflect that the experience was spoiled due to this timing. If you plan to swim at St. George's Bay, be sure to wear your swimsuit before boarding the boat. Also, don’t expect the full 30 minutes for swimming.
2) The journey to Symi Island takes around 1 hour, but the return trip to Rhodes took over 2 hours for us. Despite having clear weather, no wind, and sunny skies, the return journey was unusually slow. We left Symi at 3:35 PM and didn’t arrive back in Rhodes until after 5:15 PM.
3) Although the boat had comfortable seats, some were soaked, causing water to seep out when you sat down. There are no changing facilities onboard, so be prepared for a cramped change by your seat. Also, seating on the top deck cannot be reserved—it's all first-come, first-served.
4) Lastly, the collection and drop-off point information on the advert is very confusing. We were expected to be picked up at Faliraki Beach harbour, which didn't happen so we had to walk 30 minutes to one of the hotel pick-up points. And, on the return journey to Rhodes, we were expected to be dropped off at Faliraki Beach Harbour but everyone had to get dropped off at on of the hotel drop-off points. They need to be clearer on this.

Easy to find along the marina in Rhodes Town, we paid by card the remainder of our balance.
We were led onto the boat after a short wait and could pick from bucket seats that were cushioned in the front (3-3 arrangement). Then behind is bench seating under cover. Top deck had seating which I think was the supportive bucket seats.
Journey was quick. A tad choppy but nothing too bad. The seats keep you from being thrown about. Boat has a male toilet and female toilet.
You get a good view of Rhodes as you head west past it and also the Turkish coast leading to Simi. The trip really does only take an hour!
Simi and the port town we visited was beautiful! Plenty of shops, restaurants and cafes. We opted for climbing the many steps before returning 2/3 of the way up; but that was just us getting exhausted! You could dip into the water around past the clock tower. I wouldn’t advise the trip if you have children who get bored easy as there isn’t a lot to do in the town for them.
We were told when to return for boarding and the time the vessel would leave without fail. We returned via the cove which is a private beach and sea where you could jump in. A pool noodle to help you float is provided but otherwise you need to bring your own towels. The water and views was just beautiful! You can jump off the front of the boat or use a ladder at the rear to climb in/out. 30 mins goes fast when having fun! We got on the way back to Rhodes at the marina.
My only slight criticism is that the boat does not always align well with the port, I assume due to tides. This meant it was a bit of a step on/off. The crew helped everyone get on and off but someone not so great on their feet may struggle. It’s not impossible for sure. I’m not sure if a step can be made that would help align the height of the boat for stepping on/off? I can’t take any marks off though.
This really was a fantastic trip to a gorgeous town and the location for swimming was perfect!! The crew were friendly and spoke English

What is the difference between two options - fast boat to Symi with a swimming stop and another option with the pick up point from the hotel? That is the same fast Boat with a swimming stop?

We got a taxi from our hotel direct to the port, as we were only 5 minutes away.
If it is a coach or minibus that picks you up, am guessing there would potentially be several other pickups along the way.
