About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- stevelB3110MI0 contributionsNo regard for safetyMy wife and I decided to visit Marmaris from Rhodes today aboard the Sea Dreams boat the King of Rhodes. How a company can get away with blocking all the emergency exits with suitcases that many of the passengers were carrying I’ll never understand, crammed aboard like sardines with no regard for safety. When we arrived in Marmaris we had to wait until the crew unloaded the suitcases jammed against the doors on the outside deck onto the quayside. A maritime disaster waiting to happen.Written October 16, 2024
- MarkusJ6950 contributionsAllways lateAllways late. Departure from Marmaris one hour late. They don't tell no reason. Boat is good. Marmaris is good for shopping fake clothes etc.Written October 11, 2024
- Janet H0 contributionsGreat dayHad a lovely day in marmaris. Beautiful little town will definately come back again for longer . Sea crossing was smooth would definately recommendWritten October 4, 2024
- Dave W0 contributionsFerry shamblesMarmaris to Rhodes ferry for a day trip. Sea Dreams has an obsolete booking system. Once you have navigated the confusing web site you get emailed a voucher. This has to be converted into a boarding card at the ticket office. Not a problem in Marmaris but it has to be repeated in Rhodes for the return. Only one counter open leaving hundreds queuing in the sun. Then passport control is understaffed and created a chaotic second queue. Better in Türkiye than Greece. What should be a simple hour’s journey end up as nearly three hours each way. This leaves less time to see the lovely town.Written September 27, 2024
- FarAway7959830 contributionsNot much of a dream and not worth the moneyWe booked had a day trip to Symi via our tour operator Jet2. The out going Journey was fine and very scenic. Guided your was rubbish. The lady who did the 1 hour guided tour was more interested in taking us to a sponge shop were she obviously had a vested interest. On your visit you don't have anywhere near enough time to explore. All you can do is have a bite to eat and bore yourself senseless visiting the gift shops. On the return journey we were supposed to visit a monastery. This was cancelled due to allegedly rough seas. I'm no salty sea captain but the sea didn't look that rough to me. No apology to say that your paid excursion has been cut in half just an announcement to say that we were returning to Rhodes. Overall a waste of a day's holiday and money. Do yourself a favour don't bother with this tour company they have no idea what customer service means.Written September 22, 2024
- GoPlaces346086860860 contributionsPoor, zero communication, oversubscribed passengers, sweltering hotOutbound was fine, left on time. Return to Rhodes from Marmaris was awful. They cancelled the return time of 4.30pm and told nobody. We turned up to an overwhelmed and chaotic port. The Turkish police had little English and treated us poorly as we tried to get to passport control. They eventually let us through an hour later only to be heeded into and area where 100’s of us waited in the baking sun. No communication at all from Sea Dreams. Eventually we were all put on to a boat back at 6pm with people sitting on the stairs and a sweltering boat as air con was not running properly and there were too many people. They clearly cancelled the original return boat at 4.30 and herded all of those passengers onto the 6pm final boat back. No apology, no communication, a packed and over heated boat. Just awful, a poor experience. Would not do againWritten September 21, 2024

- bonnymelbourne0 contributionsCon Warning! The service itself is fine and quick. HOWEVER beware when you arrive in Marmaris. There will be a guy holding a sea dreams client list and sign. He will offer you an included in your package lift to town. Let me assure you the town is a 2 minute walk! What he will then proceed to do is take you to a look out for a pic, take you to a jewelry store that you didn't ask to go to, take you to a restaurant he calls base and then take you to town. This will cut your free time in half. Trust me this is a con! Do yourself a favor....walk from the port!Written September 3, 2024
- kelvinb5650 contributionsAppalling trip, felt like a time shareRhodes to Marmaris 1 day, dragged to view point we didn’t want to go to, taken to a jewellery store and kept there until the bus left, taken to the bazaar but told where to go and where to eat….. the guide kept talking about our free time when he was finished with us, but forced us to go to a shop and would only give us the time the bus would leave if we listened to a sales pitch by the store. This felt like a time share. This all wasted over an hour of our time, the ferry was almost an hour late so we were two hours down already. We were promised 6 hours in marmaris and we actually had 3. The ferry trip back was awful due to bad wind but that’s not their fault. We got back on the coach and the tour guy sat at the front of the bus talking loudly on his phone for the whole 1 hour bus journey, this annoyance finished of the trip wonderfullyWritten August 31, 2024

- Shauna F0 contributionsAvoid if you canVery disorganised and misadvertising!! Was taken to Symi and was stopped at the south of Symi without us being told! Also went to Marmaris and was given a ‘tour’ and dragged to a jewellery shop that was terrible. Wasted our time in Marmaris! And advertises as a fast boat! Was so slow and bumpy! The best part of the trips was the actual locations! Both Marmaris and Symi. The journey and tours- TERRIBLE!Written August 17, 2024
- darrenjosephm20240 contributionsI’d prefer a trip to the gulagHell on earth. Between being stood at arrivals over an hour. Being dragged into stupid jewellery shops, crap viewpoints and then our pick up and drop off point being a shop that scammed us… it was sea nightmares. If I could give it -5 stars I would. Absolute hell on earth. I’d probably rather go to the gulag for a few years hard labour than returnWritten August 15, 2024
- Byrneg120 contributionsStay awayI will start with the positive, very comfortable onboard, but that's about it. We left symi at 10:30 and were due to get to Rhodes at 11:35. - ABSIreland0 contributionsFamily day trip to MarmarisTravelled on a day trip to Marmaris in Turkey from Rhodes, 2 adults and 2 kids aged 7 and 10. We arrived at Rhodes port at 8am as the boat was leaving at 9. So we had to que to get our boarding passes and then go tru passport control, we wer siting in our seats on the boat by 8.45, you had to sit in your assigned seats, numbered on your boarding pass..by the time we set sail at 9.10 the boat was full.. it was nice and relaxed tho, a little shop up the top of the boat for tea/coffee and snacks. The joinery over was lovely no rocking of the boat. We arrived in Marmaris port at 10.20. So 1 hour and 10 min journey over. We got off the boat and cued for about 15min at passport control , straight out tye doors then where there was a sea dreams rep waiting and asking us did we want to go on the bus tour. We said nope we wer there to do our own thing ,,, shopping... So we jumped in a taxi ,there was loads there waiting and it was €10 straight to the center of Marmaris right at all the shops and Grand Brazzair. This was 11am I'm pretty sure. So after our few hours of shopping we got a taxi back to the port at 3.30 as the boat back to rhodes was at 4.45. Back trought passport control no big lines and we wer back sitting in our seats on the boat at 4.25. This was a different boat on the way back and you could sit where ever you wanted. The journey back was a little bumpy but nothing major. We got back to rhodes port at 6pm and another cue trough passport control of about 15 min and out we went to get our taxi back to our hotel. All in all a lovely day trip I'd recommend. The only 1 negative that I would have was the we wer told we would have to pay tax going over to Marmaris when collect our boarding passes. I have no issue with this. But on the website and email I received it says tax is €30 per adult and €15 per child.. but the man at the desk charged €30 each for 4 of us and when I said no it's €15 per child he said no kids are €30. I didn't argue as there was a big crowd waiting behind me. Just so people are aware. But again I'd recommend the day trip with sea dreams. Very enjoyable and Marmaris and the people wer lovely.Written August 4, 2024

The booking process with Manos Going, who were contacted by my hotel when our tour company had no excursions to Symi was very good. The appointment made was kept to time, with explanation of the pick-up point and time, itinerary and Covid requirements.
The pick-up by coach was slightly marred with us waiting at stated point and then being waved by the coach driver as he arrived to walk down to the next hotel to join other passengers to board the coach.
On arrival at Rhodes Port there was no announcement of whether to stay on the coach and await a representative or to get off. It was only on me asking another passenger that most on board the coach were on a tour and suggested we should get off. In approaching another company's tour representative, they pointed us to the Ticket Office.
I would have thought tickets for the fast ferry would have been pre collected by a Manos or other appointed representative and handed out to us on arrival at the port. We had to join the queue of other customers which was made busier at the ticket windows by people belatedly filling in their Covid forms.
The journey was fine but there were no announcements, other than Covid related, of passing sights, arrival destinations, departure times, or other information of the places visited.
On a more serious note, doors that stated "Keep Closed When At Sea" were not at any point of the outward or return journey.
I highly recommend a visit to the Island of Symi but bear in mind the above points.

Dear Alan,
We are very sorry for the inconvenience, but we are happy that you enjoyed your visit in Symi.
We would like to inform you about the following:
The bus shelters are the same for almost 10 years. We do not know what exactly has been mentioned to you about that, but it must be written on the ticket which is the right bus shelter for your boarding. Furthermore, the bus driver should not have let you get off the bus before our representative reach you and provide all the necessary information.
Tickets are always given at the port, so that we can occur the necessary checks before you receive the boarding pass.
For departure times there is a large clock that indicates the time of departure of the ship and for travel information there are several guides in different languages depending on the day.
In any case, thank you for your proposal. We will work on the idea of making brochures with information about Symi.
We are looking forward to see you again. Stay safe!
Best Regards,
Lampros

On the 6th of August 2020, me and my mother went to Symi and Panormitis. The experience on the island itself was wonderful, but the whole trip on the boat was irresponsible when taking into account the current regulations that are instigated because of the covid-19 virus. First of all, the boat was quite small and very hot with no air-conditioning, which is not good for the circulation of air which is necessary inside a room or closed area. Second, there were too many people inside the boat making the 1.5/2 meter distance impossible to stick to. Lastly, when leaving the boat there were endless queues making it again impossible to stick to the 1.5/2 meter distance.

Dear customer, we wish to inform you that Sea Dreams complies with the relevant legislation regarding COVID-19. We board no more people that the passengers allowed according to the law and we receive frequent inspections from the Port Authorities.
As for the behavior of other passengers, surely you had noticed that the obligations for the passengers are posted on various places such as on signs, on the ticket vouchers etc. Apart from that, passengers are informed from the speakers and from the ship’s staff.
Unfortunately, there is nothing more that we can do to make the passengers comply with the measures. It is each person responsibility to follow the measures, keep distances and be responsible and respectful to the other passengers. The only competent authority that can issue fines is the Port Authority and it does that in regular basis.
Regarding the A/C we wish to inform you that the A/Cs on board are operating but the doors shall remain open for hygiene reasons.

I purchased a ticket online to do the Symi and Panormitis tour. I spoke for less than 2 mins with an older (50-60 year old) short haired blonde lady a few days earlier when I arrived. As I past the ticket booth on Mandraki Port, I thought I’d double check the departure point, and came across the same lady. I told her I wanted to reconfirm the departure that I booked online. She immediately huffed and walked away and sat on a bench. I wasn’t sure if there was a problem, so I found me email to show her. She blatantly ignored we while sitting next to her friend on a bench. She then said she would not help me as I booked online and didn’t book through her (as she doesn’t get commission). Not only did she give me information at the port worth less that 2 mins of conversation, and which she also mentioned nothing about coming back to book with her (and I’m glad I didn’t now) but I booked online as I didn’t have cash, which is how I presumed you’d book at the port. I then asked for her name, which she said she forgot. She acted so rudely and immature that I was appalled by for a lady of her age, and with working in customer service myself, I found absolutely disgusting.
However I must say the crew on board were fantastic. Katarina and crew 18/8/20 were lovely and followed COVID-19 procedures as best they could. They made sure every second seat was free and caught people out that didn’t cover their entire face with masks. I read a negative post on their lack to follow guildlines, but they have many guidelines in place and it’s the passengers on board who fail to comply. They also attended to many sick passengers on such a bumpy day at sea. I’m very sorry that I had to rate this company so badly as the crew on the day were fantastic. But my initial encounter with the Mantraki Port booth seller (I forgot my own name) was beyond anything I’ve ever experienced.

Dear Costumer,
Thank you for traveling with us and for the time you took to rate us. We have already taken the necessary actions and made the appropriate recommendations to our staff. In case of normal operation of our company without the effects of Covid-19, we would have made an immediate dismissal. Our company follows systematic training in customer service and strengthening of the corporate identity. However, due to the situation created by Covid-19, the dismissal of staff at this time is difficult because the majority of the jobs on the island is seasonal - summer in the tourism industry and the staff is obligated to live for at least 10 months with incomes of 2 to 3 months of work.

Complete cattle market. Far too many people crammed onto a boat. No consideration for people who have actually queued to get on, staff just let people run aboard like animals. Let people lie all over the place taking up seats from people who need them. Just zero organisation. Wouldn’t mind if I was jumping on a bus, but at 80 euros a head it’s a bit of a joke.
Toilets didn’t have working handles aboard either, they fell off when you tried to use them.
Only saving grace was the tour guide. Very knowledgeable and pleasant guy.
A shame because Simi is a beautiful place, I would just suggest visiting a different way.

We booked our day trip to Symi Island through Irene, who we had met near the harbour in Rhodes town. She was very polite and explained the details of the trip to us, we took down her details and were able to book the tour with her later on via Whatsapp with the option to pay on the day. She gave very clear instructions on where the bus would pick us up from, plus the timings for getting back on the boat after each stop.
The boat takes around one hour to Symi Island and the main town where we started the day is beautiful - very unique and colourful with lots of attractive little streets going uphill (great views from the top). It's definitely worth seeing and I would certainly recommend the trip.

Great day out. From friendly staff on harbour kiosk to coach transfer all smooth.
Boat good albeit very warm inside
Lovely English speaking guide on Symi.
Would not recommend the tourist train trip in Symi as it just goes up one road for a few photos and returns. Not worth it
Guide could perhaps give a bit more history background at monestary but generally really good

The number of passengers was so exaggerated that many people sat on the deck floor. From lower decks, inside the boat, no one could see anything outside due to very old and damaged windows. But most of all, this boat uses non refined oil (crude oil) instead of diesel and this causes so much damaging smoke in the environment and on the passengerscthemselves. I had to throw my shirt to the bin when coming back to the hotel as it was compmetely full of crude oil smoke. This is unacceptable: this boat should not be allowed to cruise any longer, for inhabitants, for tourists, for the environment of this beautiful island. Also the speed is so high that the boat creates important damaging waves in low waters, full of fish and sea mammals.

Dear 105denisb,
thank you for your rating and comment.
Our Vessel holds a maximum number of passengers, and this number is not exceeded due to safety reasons. However, as seats are not numbered, and passengers move around throughout the trip, it can happen that passengers do not choose to sit on the sun deck, but prefer to be in the airconditioned area. As a result the vessel seems overcrowded, without that being the case.
True, on the specific day you travelled, it was hard to see out the windows, but not due to a lack of cleaning, but due to the fact that the sea was a bit rough and saltwater splashed on the windows. It is not possible to keep the windows free of salt when travelling.
Judging us as a company on the fuel you might think we are using, seems a bit unfair. If you have concerns in regard to our fuel usage and the impacts on the environment, maybe you should have talked with us first instead of publishing untrue claims in this forum. In order to operate our vessel we go through a length of controls and need certificates for various aspects of the vessels operation, which we all have. We could go into an endless discussion on how damaging or not, for the environment, different kind of travels might be, but again we do have all permissions and licenses for our vessels and the journey they make.
Wishing you all the best.

The smell of fumes is dreadful. The stop at the Monastery is a complete waste of time with people queuing to get back on the boat after 10 mins! , spending 4 hours on this boat for a 3.5hours at Symi is not worth it. Symi is lovely but in 30 degree heat with little shade, no beach was not a great experience. Spend your holiday doing something else is my advice!

We had booked this excursion days before and wanted to postpone it by one day because a rainy low was announced for the booked day. We were able to change the booking without any problems. Thank you very much for that. The crossing by catamaran was great fun for us. Staying on Symi was especially interesting. Here the tour guide named GABRIEL was the ideal tour guide, as he explained to us in great detail the history of the island, the way of life of the people there, the economic and ecological conditions on the island. We might have listened to him for hours, but we were now able to explore parts of the city of Symi on our own because of these detailed explanations. So: Big thanks to GABRIEL!!! That was perfect.

On the way to Symi the boat was really full on the upper deck, especially outside, and there was much swell for people who are not used to be on a ship … I saw a girl coming out from the tables (close to bow) with her boyfriend, for short on the railing and then sitting down crying silent. Thinking about how could I help, the woman of the bar was there immediately and helped her really good - Katharina the big (I asked about her name) realised that something is wrong between all these people and also she was selling drinks … that is brilliant!
Also she realised a lady trying to walk with something that weren’t shoes and told her to sit down or hold on. Buying my drinks she did a good, friendly job with a smile - because of that I said thank you for helping and asked about her name.
So, as a passenger you feel really safe with such a stuff!
