Best Way to Spend 3 Days in the Cyclades
5 stars are not enough. My husband and I spent 3 incredible days on the Aegean with Panos, Ina and Alex in mid-September as part of our honeymoon. We were greeted with welcome drinks/snacks and given a thorough safety overview before setting sail for 3 magical days. Panos, the ship's owner, served as captain for our trip. He involved us in planning the agenda, dropped anchor in beautiful inlets only accessible by boat and took us to some of the smaller Cyclades we would not otherwise have explored. In addition to this, he took pictures, made dinner reservations for us and sourced ingredients for our meals aboard. Ina took fantastic care of us -- making sure we never went hungry or thirsty. She prepared the most beautiful breakfasts and lunches with the freshest ingredients and kept us well supplied with Mythos, wine and water. Weeks later and we're still talking about those perfect Mediterranean lunches. Alex served as second captain for our trip. He took us ashore in the dingy, went swimming and snorkeling with us, and worked closely with Panos to ensure our safe travel. In addition to making sure we were having fun, he also served as the resident doctor aboard. I had a fall going between the dingy and ship and later cut my arm while snorkeling, Alex quickly jumped in to assess and treat my injuries. I genuinely cannot say enough good things about our time with this team. We had the best time and are so glad we booked with Xanemo. We ended our trip as friends with promises to return soon for another sail.

      Sunset cruise from Naxos
The sunset cruise from Naxos to Paros was fantastic! Gorgeous views, good wine, and great crew! Alex and Alexandria did a great job of navigating and entertaining us. The ~3 hour boat ride is perfect for trying out sailing adventures or for a lovely evening. The boat was the perfect size for 6 people plus crew to move around on the boat and had a few places to lounge while tasting some snacks/wine.

      Frankly-overpriced and poor.
Really disappointing. We have been lucky enough to take some fantastic boat trips in Greece and many other parts of the world. Whilst this was not completely awful, it was very expensive for what it was and was was good about the day-was despite and not because of any effort made by the company or crew. The company website and many of the reviews, raise expectations pretty high-specifically in terms of the places you will visit (although to be fair even the website info is a little vague on this), the quality of food and drinks provided and the overall professionalism of the company and crew. Despite the mixed (especially recent) reviews, we decided to book this trip, particularly because they pretty much guarantee a maximum of 8 passengers onboard. To be fair they delivered on this promise- but although the boat was fine (main deck and seating area clean and modern).-it was a squeeze to comfortably accomodate all of us. Bellow deck where the food prep area and tpilet was-the smell of the toilet was really bad. Unlike the experience of previous reviewers, the small bench seat area at the back if the boat did have cushions. As other reviews have said- we were inexplicably told to "sit at the front" (on seat pads on the bow of the boat) and moved from the bench seats at the rear, as soon as we boarded. We were told that we were "free to move" once we were about 30 minutes into the trip. Alex and Alexandra were a young (and possibly a little inexperienced) couple who were incredibly self-absorbed spending almost all of the time on the trip either on their phones, cuddling and kissing or bickering together whilst pretty much ignoring their customers. It felt really awkward for the passengers and I'm sorry to say that they were very unprofessional and unsociable. Alexandria barely spoke at all throughout the entire trip and Alex (the "Captain") spoke only briefly when we boarded to show us, very hurriedly, how to put on a life-jacket. He didn't mention where they could be found or under what circumstances we would be expected to wear them. He gave no details about where or when we would be stopping and almost no information about where we were at anytime during the trip (apart from once, shortly after we left port). On ine occasion-around an hoir and a half in-I dared to ask him whereabouts we where-he rudely replied "Naxos"! After 2 hours sailing with no idea when or when we would be stopping or any offer of a drink, one of the passengers asked for some water, so, silence broken, the rest if us followed suit. Bear in mind you are expected at the port at 8.15am to be ready to get on the boat-it's obviously hot and most of us would have left our accommodation too early to get breakfast or much to drink. We finally dropped anchor at Rina Bay-where many other boat tours had already done the same. It was now 11.30am and we were told that we had one hour here. As other reviews have said-there was no offer of snorkels or other floatation devices/pool noodles etc. We had brought our own mask and snorkels in any case, so for us, this wasn't a big deal. They did have a floatation device tethered to the boat however-it wasn't pointed out (which may have reassured less confident swimmers) and was sitting under the boat on a short rope. The bay and cave was lovely and the snorkleing was pretty good but we felt an hour was more than it justified. When we all got back on board we were offered processed cheese and turkey sandwiches on white sliced bread and a slice of basic cake. We had to ask for drinks. When we pressed Alex to find out where we were going next he wouldn't tell us making a joke out of it being a surprise/not really knowing as it depended in the weather/wind. At least at this point he showed a glimmer of humour and sociability. We motored on for about another hour and there was some music played which did at least create a bit of atmosphere. We stopped again at Schoinousa in a small bay to swim/snorkel. Again the snorkelling was good and to be fair, Alex did give us a very brief bit of info about the island. When we got back on board we had lunch which was a Greek salad, pitta, tzsatsiki and pork kebab. The pork kebab was ok-not particularly well made or well cooked and luke warm. Again-we had to ask for drinks. At the last stop, on the coast of Naxos not too far from the port, Alexandria did make a point of taking photographs and Alex did make sure that all passengers were sent them all towards the end of the trip. The last stop was at Migri Vikla beach. Again the snorkleing was pretty good and the water was crystal clear. We enjoyed the stops that we had and we were lucky that the other passengers on-board for our cruise today, were a lovely bunch of people. However the trip was oversold and "underdelivered" in many ways. It was way longer that it needed to be for what we did and saw-it was sold a a "Small Cyclades" tour and it absolutely was not. The food and drink offerings were poor and the crew were inattentive, disinterested and unprofessional.

Unique experience that could not have been better.
We enjoyed the trip on board with Alex team. Alex took care of us answered questions and although busy, never made us feel like we were bothering him - service with a smile. The attention to detail and the food was phenomenal. Overall the boat was in great, clean condition, and very comfortable excepting a lack of pillows. Every time we moved the boat to another beautiful spot, and never felt bored of any one location. From the moment we booked with Xanemo Sailing we knew we made the right choice. We had such a wonderful time and so much fun that we will be back next year to sail with Alex team.

      Could be better!
Cons: - We get on board, hardly an introduction or what the day will entail -no safety briefing - no information or knowledge provided about the area - The crew were unprofessional and didn’t seem interested the whole day - they served turkey(processed plastic slices) and cheese on stale bread for morning tea it was revolting and a small piece of cake - lunch was dried up meat skewers - arvo tea a tiny fruit platter - the marketing for the tour talked up we were going to a “Secret location” and we just stayed around Naxos to spots we all knew about - the crew were too lazy to put up the sail on our sailing experience Pro: - beautiful sailing boat - good weather - stunning clear water - provide snorkelling equipment

The best sailing experience so fay I´ve had
I am so sorry I took this long to write you a review. Depy & Jerome have been excellent hosts. Taking care of us while they prepared incredible meals and made sure we were conformable and informed all the time. I strongly recommend sailing through Naxos with this great couple. They love what they do.

      The highlight of our trip
This was one of the best experiences we had while in Greece. Well worth the money. They took us to two amazing islands and prepared a fantastic meal. The water was pristine for swimming and the crew were very hospitable I would highly recommend.

      Everything was great!
We were constantly spoiled by Jerome and Depy. The other guests were fun loving and interesting. I enjoyed browsing through Jerome's library of British sailing books. A great investment of a day.

      Unforgettable cruise
Late September one day tour. Jerome and Depy are a wonderful couple. They took full care of us. Always ready to give us information and to make ourself the most comfortable possible. Not talking about food: welcome cocktail, mid morning buffet, lunch and mid afternoon fruit plate; wine, beer and soda always available. Cressi snorkeling equipment available for everybody. They shoot pictures during the day and promptly edited and shared with all of us in the afternoon. Top class service!

Amazing day in the water with Jerome and Depy
A few weeks ago a friend and I went on a day cruise with Jerome and Depy and it was one of the best experiences we had in Greece. The boat was perfect and there weren't a lot of people with the group, which meant that Jerome and Depy were able to give everyone attention. We made several different stops across the island and Jerome and Depy even took pictures of us and the group, which they shared with us the same day. This was a nice added touch, since it meant we could focus on enjoying the trip rather than just taking pictures. They were both very knowledgeable of the island and cooked us an amazing meal for lunch. I've done this type of activity before and had spent a lot of time looking up the best day cruise in Naxos. Honestly, I could not recommend a better way to spend the day than to sail with Jerome and Depy. It was an amazing and unforgettable experience. Thank you so much for the perfect day!

      Beautiful day!
We had a wonderful day of sailing and exploring the hidden coves and beaches of Naxos with Jerome and Depy and it was a definite highlight of our time in Greece. We did a private trip for ourselves and our three teenaged children. We felt like very welcome guests, treated with delicious food and drinks throughout the day - breakfast treats, pre-lunch appetizers, lunch and afternoon snacks were all delicious Greek foods enjoyed by the kids and adults alike. The snorkel (very good equipment provided) and swim stops were lovely and the llama inflatable added lots of fun to the day! Captain Jerome was a knowledgeable sailor and we learned a lot about Greece too. Highly recommend!

      August 2019 Joyous trip!
Jerome and Debbie were wonderful at taking us sailing and providing us with a day we will always remember. Perfect in their skill on the water sailing the boat and in hosting, cooking and caring for us. They took us to great places to swim and snorkel and even jump off a cliff. A beautiful day exploring the Mediteranean and experiencing sailing for the first time. Very professional and courteous and polite and willing to answer all our questions and help in any way they could. This is one of the best days and ways to spend a day in Naxos! I would highly recommend this to anyone traveling to Naxos who wants to spend a fun day on the water and see some special sights and spend time with some special people! Thank you so much Jerome and Debbie! Wish we were closer to do it every year!

      Great for all ages
Jerome and Depy were so wonderful to us on our sunset cruise. We had five adults and one infant and they took very good care of us. Communication before the trip was really great and we felt secure and welcomed on our boat ride. Thank you so much!!

Had really high hopes for this trip, as most of the reviews made this seem like an awesome excursion. However, it was anything but. It started off by being made to sit on the front of the sailboat (I would not call this a "yacht" as some have) with nothing to hold onto, no real seats, while the wind was overwhelming and the waves were scary big, to say the least, while the crew got to stay in the back, sheltered from the winds and from getting wet. While there were seats in the back of the boat, there were no cushions ANYWHERE on this boat. It made for a very uncomfortable day. The crew was less than enthusiastic, no communication, very little interaction. At each stop they went down under the boat. They almost let us wash up onto rocks at one point from not paying attention. They took us to stops that you could drive to, not beaches that were "exclusive" or hidden or anything special. This day was a waste of time and money. At one point, we even considered looking for a garbage bag to make a dry bag to throw our backpack into and just swim to shore at one of the stops and catch a cab back to our hotel. Also, the description of the excursion states they would take pictures and that you could relax and put your phone away, HUGE false advertisement!

We booked this tour to visit the Small Cyclades and were very excited for it. The boat is very pretty and clean and we were with a nice, small group of people (8). Before we set sail on sea, the crew, Alex and Alexandra, told us that due to weather conditions we couldn’t go to the Small Cyclades. This was quite disappointing for us since this the reason we booked the trip. We have some experience with bad weather conditions and high waves on boattrips and it seemed to us that the weather conditions were quite okay for most of the day. Only at the end of the day the waves got quite high. However, we accepted that the Small Cyclades were not part of the journey and we were able to relax and enjoy the tour.

Alex and Alexandra offered us drinks regularly and were very relaxed and chill. The food was good. Although, we mentioned in our reservation a preference for vegetarian food and this was not given to us/asked for. We are also fine with meat, so we just accepted the food and did not mention it. But, if you are really vegetarian it could be good to mention this an extra time. We think that in our case it was not communicated to Alex and Alexandra and ofcourse not something they were not willing to do.

The first stop, Rinca cave, was very nice and beautiful. We were able to swim with snorkeling gear and Alex gave us information about the spot. The other two tops were, in our opinion, not that spectacular. However, we enjoyed the relaxing vibe, sun, sea and clear waters.

Alexandra made some really nice pictures of everyone diving, swimming and relaxing. All the pictures were sent to everyone at the end of the trip. We would suggest to organize the pictures, so that everyone receives only their own photos and other people do not have your photos as well. This does not take much time and is better for privacy.

To conclude, the trip was very nice and relaxing, but we did miss some special highlights and the Small Cyclades. Because of that, we booked another boat tour only to the Small Cyclades a couple of days later. Our rating is a 3.5 out of 5.

Do NOT take this boat. There are many other options available in Naxos. Please read all of the recent reviews for this boat as many of them explain the same things.

First. we got off to a bit of a late start after the captain ran over the mooring rope. I was less concerned about that incident, honestly and more concerned about the fact that I thought I had booked a trip to the small Cyclades. I understand routes may change due to weather, but there was zero communication about the change. All of our stops were places I had been in our car. We paid for an experience we could not get by land. I was so disappointed.

In addition, the hospitality was severely lacking. No waters or refreshments were offered to us after two hours of sailing to our first location. We had to ask for everything. The website promises pictures of our adventure and of course there were zero as the staff was not interested in us.

I had previously booked this boat back in 2020 and when I had to cancel for Covid, it was heartbreaking. When we rebooked our trip this year, your boat was the first thing I booked. I had such high expectations and excitement about what a fun trip. It really was not.

There were also no safety instructions, no floatation devices in the water in case of an emergency (all other vessels had a ring tied out), and no hand sanitizer out for guests. Honestly, the only good parts of the trip was seeing the beaches (which we have seen in a car for much cheaper).

I wrote to the owner and received no response so I plan to spread the word. It's too expensive to pay for mediocre.

My wife, 17 year old granddaughter, her friend and I had a wonderful day sailing with Jerome. He is an excellent host providing a wonderfully relaxed day and more food and drink than anyone can possibly consume! It’s amazing how tired we were at the end of the day and we hardly lifted a finger - other than take a swim or two in the sea. It’s a great boat that can handle 8 passengers easily (the max he takes out). We felt catered to and really enjoyed this days outing! The girls rated this among their top two days of their trip. Book early to be sure you get on the Xanemo.

This is the best way to see the islands and spectacular beaches near or on Naxos. The sailboat is designed for just a dozen or so people, and the service provided is terrific. I can't believe how great (and healthy!) the lunch and snacks were. The captain is assisted by a wonderful woman who seems to anticipate your needs. Very knowledgeable crew and very comfortable and intimate boating day

Wonderful experience! We booked the all day sailing trip from Naxos with Xanemo Sailing. The staff was wonderful, super helpful and attentive. It was too windy to sail to the small cyclades, so we stopped at 3 places to swim and snorkel. They served a sandwich for breakfast, a very tasty lunch with grilled meat and salad and an afternoon snack with fruit. They had coffee, beer, wine and water. I highly recommend this boat and crew.

I’ve read the reviews and I have to say, for me, it was the best experience. I booked a similar excursion in Italy and was very disappointed. Although Alex is young, I felt very safe. He has obviously been sailing all his life and is extremely competent and careful. We were shown how to use a life jacket and how to leave the boat in an emergency, what else do you want, and some people were asked to sit out the front, on cushions, while we departed the wharf. Alex explained the need to be able to access ropes. Two of us remained on seats as we were older. Everyone else seemed to enjoy the experience and came back to the seats when they wanted to. Some stayed out for much of the day.
Lunch was great and we were offered as much to drink as we wanted. There were no restrictions and no excesses.
I had the best day! Everyone on board seemed as thrilled as I was.
Alex explained what we were seeing, where we visited and history. Lots of swimming and snorkeling.
Get a grip folks. I can’t believe you can grumble so much about what for all of us on my day, was a great experience. You’re on holiday!!

We enjoyed our day with Xanemo. The crew were friendly and helped us onto the yacht. We set off around 830 and sailed out looking at the coast. We had quite large waves that day and a small safety briefing would have been good to let us know what was safe to hold on to as the boat tilted a lot as we sailed out.
We had 3 swimming stops of around 1 hour duration and snorkelling equipment was provided. I brought a book with me and it was very nice to sit and read my book while we were anchored.
We had a snack around 10 - sandwich and cake then lunch at 1300 which catered very well for our vegetarian diet. Then fruit later around 1600. My only tip would be to bring layers as it can get cold with the wind and if you get wet from the waves.

It is quite sad to write this review as I had such high hopes for the day. Having read other reviews and visiting the tour website, I was looking forward to a great day with Jerome and Debbie. When we arrived however, we were greeted with Alex, Bill, and Alexandra (clearly Alex's girlfriend who was not a trained employee of the company). There was no communication about the plan for the day nor was there a safety briefing- this would've been useful as the ride was choppy and we were all made to sit on the front of the boat with no real seats or hand-holds.

While we visited some beautiful locations, they were well-trodden spots where it seemed all the large, rambunctious charters also went. We also spent too much time at each location and were given no information about each stop or help with snorkelling equipment.

Alex and Bill were on their phones, making calls and or texting the entire time while Alexandra spent the majority of the charter below deck.

When I asked if the company had changed owners and explained I was expecting Jerome, Alex responded with an arrogant "no I am the captain of this boat". The other guests were on the day were also clearly disappointed with the service.

I had such high hopes for the day which were unfortunately totally let down. Also disappointing that this tour was a gift to my sister for her graduation.

    Find a better company!

Our crew was wonderful and we were well looked after from beginning to end. Panos (owner), crew Vasyli (aka Bill), and Alexi. The food was very good, Morning snack was sandwiches and cake, lunch on the boat was pork souvlaki, Greek salad, tzatziki, and pita bread served with rose wine or other beverages, and fruit was offered at about 5 pm. The trip to the Small Cyclades was about 10h total, leaving at 8:30 am and docking at 6:30 pm. Our first stop was in Shinsoussa about 3h15 from our start and we had time to walk up into the town to explore before returning to the sailboat for lunch. Our second stop was Iraklia for 1h15 and here everyone just lay on the beautiful deserted beach or played in the water. No one went swimming as it was May 3 and the water was too cold. Our return took 3h30 and it was a very cold trip with the wind, even though we dressed for it. There were 9 of us onboard plus the crew.
