    Elafonissi Beach
Stop: 4 hours - Admission excluded
Elafonissi is located 76km west of Chania in the southwestern most point of Crete. Elafonisi is an oblong, which often "breaks" in two parts by water giving the impression of being a separate island. Elafonissi is a “Natura 2000” protected area. The island is full of dunes with sand lilies and junipers (like-cedar trees). The endangered turtles Caretta-Caretta and several rare animals nest on the island and it is strictly forbidden to remove any plants, animals from the area. Exotic beach with white sand and turquoise waters, reminding of the Caribbean, are formed on either sides of the peninsula. The sand is pinkish in many places, taking its color from thousands of broken shells. Near the “breaking" point of the peninsula, the water does not exceed 1m, creating a small lagoon, ideal for children. The eastern side of the beach, in front of the lagoon, is well organized and has the most people.

Stunning scenery and great day out
first of all worth saying that the gorge is spectacular. Amazing scenery from the top until the bottom and you arrive in Agia Roumeli which is a lovely picturesque village with an incredible beach for swimming. The whole day ran smoothly, we were picked up outside our hotel and our tour guide Ingrid helped with everything down to the boat tickets you need for the ride at the end of the day. The walk is fairly long but the path is well trodden, so decent shoes are useful as it’s a bit skiddy on the rocks in steep parts. It was hot when we did the hike but there is plenty of shade apart from the last 2km or so.

    Dangerous, Difficult, Disapointing
So I am fit and have no problems with walking distances. What I didnt know was that this hike is MOSTLY downhill on loose slippery rocks for 16 kms! It is really dangerous and you have no time to stop to look at scenery because you are looking down all the time. Walking pole (s) essential. Take water - you can refill bottles along the way. Some toilet paper is a good idea too. Two days later I am in so much pain from the walk that I cannot enjoy Chania. So - this is for crazy hikers, but not the average tourist.

    What a challenge!!!!
This is definitely an amazing experience! Given that I wasn't a seasoned hiker, I made it through. However, it was extremely challenging, mind and body.

    Epic day out
Amazing day out, I did a private tour and it was a long day picked up in Chania at 530am didn't get back till 9pm. Make sure you take food with you energy bars/ gels + electrolytes you'll be sweating a lot 😅 once you're in there there's no way out apart from the port.... 20km away. Decent hiking shoe/boots are a must as the terrain is slippy and rocky pretty much the whole way with some steep rocky descents. Wouldn't do this if you're not reasonably fit, I'm reasonably fit and it took me a good 6-7 hours. Plenty places to fill your water bottles up from the natural stream running through here. Nothing really much else to say....enjoy the rest areas a f take in the beautiful scenery it is magical just make sure you're at the port at 530pm as that's when the Boats leave

    Great Experience
This is a great experience, we loved being able to hike, see the mountains and go to the beach in one day! The hike is not easy but doable. The one thing that makes it less enjoyable is the sense of being on a march… the schedule is tight, crowds of people are hiking the way they drive on the freeway, and if you are looking for relaxation or time to appreciate the wilderness, this isn’t you hike. That said, it was very organized!

    Hike Somaria Gorge
Best decision to take this trip with Kyriakakis agency! The bus driver is very familiar with the hard road and our guide Ingrid was the best...warm, funny and explaining everything! For the 1st of September we had excellent weather, 28 Celsius degrees and the hike itself was ok! The landscape was awesome and even though we don't do hikes usually, we completed it without any issues! If you like going and have no health issues, GO! It's worth it!

    Samaria gorge
Scenery was exceptional. Bus driver felt very safe with. So many curvy roads Sonia was informative and caring Regarding the hike it was very hard due to the terrain. Took us longer than expected however take it into consideration we are in our 60s but reasonably fit We are very proud of ourselves for completing the journey !!!

Amazing day out - not an easy walk
So they're not kidding when they say the walk is a lot. We accidentally went on one of the hottest days of the year (35 in the shade level hot), so it was quite a trek, but it was also amazing. The Gorge is stunning. There were quite a lot of people, especially at the beginning, but it thinned out as people found their own pace to walk at. The ground is unlevel and downhill the whole way, so your calves are burning the next day, but there's water all the way along and incredible scenery. 100% recommend swimming at the bottom, and we had great food at one of the tavernas. We also had the most fantastic tour guide - she doesn't walk with you in the Gorge, but has all sorts of fascinating information on the history of the area during the journey home. I think her name was Ingrid. 10/10. Lastly be aware that if you aren't in Chania (we were picked up from Kolymbari) then it's going to be a wildly early start. We were out of bed for like a 5am pickup.

    Beautiful hike but LONG
So this hike was absolutely gorgeous. I had no idea that Crete offered such beautiful mountains and expansive views. I would def do this hike again if I come back to Crete. The beach town Agia Romeli at the end of the hike was great! Such a beatiful and iconic remote greek beach town. We got to swim around in the beach and have food/drinks when the hike was all done. Some important things to note: 1 - this hike is LONG (roughly 10 miles) so if you don't consider yourself at least mildly in-shape, you should skip this. if you have back issues standing for long periods of time, or knee issues (since you mostly hike down hill), you should skip this. 2 - during the hike, you only have access to get additional water. So either stock up on snacks/treats at the breakfast location you stop at prior to getting to the trailhead, or bring your own snacks. You will need them. 3 - this hike starts very early and higher up in elevation, so the weather is brisk when you start. Bring a sweatshirt.

    Tough but worth it
4th time doing this hike. Never disappoints. Definitely not an easy hike, especially in the beginning, but getting to the bottom and seeing the beautiful Libyan sea is all worth it

    Breathtaking hike
A tough enjoyable hike down the breathtakingly beautiful Samaria Gorge. We are both very fit and it took us a little over 4 hours. We walked through to the coast taking a short break to refuel at the abandoned village, the halfway point. The hike is over very rough ground proper sturdy footwear is vital. A good pair of trainers and good walking socks. Hire out and use a walking pole as it gives you a third point of balance. We'll worth the effort if you're relatively fit and healthy. Not to be considered if you have an injury. A small backpack with Sunscreen, hat , sunglasses, camera, packed lunch and water bottle are vital. A change of clothing would also be a good idea as ther is a chance to swim in the sea and freshen up while waiting at the port. There is plenty of fresh crystal clear cool water to drink in the gorge so no need to carry any.

    A day in paradise
We are from Brazil and have seen many beaches in the world - this is the most beautiful amazing beach EVER - water is so clear - it is like swimming in liquid glass! Have to go by boat - road is terrible - big boat is great - no need to spend a lot for private - no beach bar - bring your food from the boat restaurant

    Hike the gorge
This is a great challenge if u want a break from the beach, with spectacular views. Beach isn’t the best tho at the end when all u want to do is wash the dust of the gorge away

Gorgeous lagoon & views from Gramvousa, logistics handled by your
Balos Lagoon is a MUST visit beach and lived up to its reputation. Gramvousa exceeded our expectations with gorgeous views of the lagoon and the coast. As other reviews said, the tour experience you are buying is essentially transportation from your hotel to the boat port. Then you get on a large boat (run by another company). You are on the same boat all day (boat is a large ferry/ship with indoor/outdoor seating, and plentiful food/drink plus beach basics like umbrellas & snorkel gear for purchase or rental), and the boat actually guides your experience. The boat has hundreds of people on it so it is crowded but it wasn’t an issue when we got to the two destinations. We stood by the exit at each site so we could get off first and then set out in a different direction from everyone else so we weren’t in the crowds. The locations are large so people can spread out easily and it wasn’t a big issue being so many people. To be honest, you could probably do this trip without the tour company but we appreciated having all the logistics handled for us since we didn’t have a car. The tour company was very nice and the bus was very clean and drove safely. Would recommend this trip if you want everything handled for you!

This trip was kinda a mess. We were at the discussed location where the bus should have picked us up at 8.10 A.M. /we where there at 7.50 A.M./ Still the bus did not come for us and we had to call the agency several time. They sent a car for us which took us after the bus. In the car they informed us that the bus driver forgot to come for us.
The bus was not a "luxury" bus which was promised and it was full of people even though it was promised that the bus was restricted to 60% of capacity due to COVID-19.
The beach was pretty though.

Dear Attila, We confirm that we sent a car to pick you up as the guide had accidentally signed you in her list and thought that you were on the bus. The bus was at the designated pick up point for more than 10 minutes as this is our main pick up point. Exactly due to that fact, we did send a car on our own cost in order to drive you to the bus. Bus was a 6 year old bus, fully airconditioned. Only our VIP tours are provided with v class or Mercedes sprinter VIP buses which are above LUX level. In regards to the capacity, please note that according to the Greek NHS, the maximum capacity has raised from 60% to 85% since April 2021. In the day of participation, the occupancy on the bus was at 79% which is below the limits set by the authorities. I am sorry for all the inconvenience. Enjoy the rest of your holidays!

Fantastic tour to the Elafonisi Beach. We were picked up prompt at the location provided and then quickly picked up the rest of the tour. Sonya who was our tour guide gave us informative information about the beach and the island and was good of taking care of us.

We briefly stopped off at Cave of God of wisdom which was fantastic! (220 step though to get up!), we then made out way to Elafonisi Beach. You only have 4 hours to do whatever but this is enough time to explore the beach and enjoy the sun! The water was clear and sand was nice. The pink water had disappeared but we were informed by Sonya due to tourism it faded over time.

After the beach, we were dropped off at a restaurant in a village. The food was peak Greek food and it was delicious compared to the port of chania. We had the stuff vine leafs, lamb and potatoes and chicken skewers all for 30 euro. Service was prompt and we got through the hour whilst exploring a little of the village.

The tour then dropped us at our pickup locations before 6pm.

Would totally recommend this trip to people who can't rent a car to the beach or confident in driving (the road to beach was winding!) or want don't want to spend a whole day at the beach. 5/5 for the tour!

Enjoyed every bit of that tour, from the journey through the Cretan landscape to the visit at the cave and then the amazing Elafonisi. Clear blue waters, breathtaking Elafonisi lagoon, we walked around the whole island, it was fantastic.
Very well organised tour, we were picked up very close to our accommodation, on time, the tour guide and bus driver were very polite.
Highly recommended, especially for someone who wants to see more of the inland Crete and still visit another incredible beach and swim in amazingly clear waters.

We were picked up promptly at the time given, and after picking up the rest of the group, started the journey to Elafonisi. On the way you stop off at a beautiful cave surrounded by a gorgeous gorge. If able to,I would definitely recommend going up to the cave. After this half an hour stop, the drive continued to the beach.

We have never seen such beautiful clear water. The weather was brilliant and the beach was so lovely. You have about 4hours on the beach which is plenty of time to explore wherever you want, sunbathe, and swim in the lovely sea.

After the beach, the journey back begins, with an hours stop in a picturesque village about half an hour from Elafonisi. We had food at one of the taverns and it was beautiful, and very well priced. Once the hour was over,we continued our journey back.

We absolutely loved this trip and would recommend it to anyone. Our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable (Joanna we think was her name),and the driver was amazing, tackling some very difficult roads extremely safely.

Joanne, our guide was excellent. She shared lots of information without being intrusive or overwhelming. We had thought of renting a car but after our encounter with a transport truck on a hair pin turn, I was grateful for our bus driver and his skills. The cave was a really interesting stop along the way. We also enjoyed our stop in the village on the way back. Ria, who booked our trip for us was exceptionally attentive in making sure that our last minute booking went off without a hitch.

Each element of today was great fun but it felt like our time in each place was constantly cut short. I'd recommend getting a bus to the beach and when you're there, walk straight to the little island slightly off shore (you can carry your bags there as it only is waist deep). There are no sunbeds but the views are beautiful and it is much less crowded.

While we had a lovely day once we arrived at the beach, we made some stops that felt lackluster. The church in the cave wasn't the most exciting moment, and there is a "surprise" stop for a whole hour on your way home that has you at a "village" which is just a hustle spot for you to buy food at a cafe. It's a bit scammy feeling and left a bad taste in my mouth when I rather would have returned to Xania.

It was a wonderful day. The bus was clean and on time. I was impressed with the driver's skills of navigating the roads and the pass through the mountain. The guide made sure to give us as much time as possible at the beach. The guide gave use good information about the area and history of the area. We also stopped at a cute village and had an amazing lunch on the way back. It was a relaxing day at a beautiful beach.

All in all the tour was very good. The bus was very clean and had air conditioning. Our guide was very friendly and gave us good information about everything ( about crete in general, traditions, history, elafonissi etc.)
In my opinion the first stop was a bit short ( 30 Minutes to take a break and visit St. Sofia Grave)
So we didn’t get to see the grave which was kind of disappointing.
When we arrived at Elafonisi beach, it was very crowded and full of people and tourists, but in my opinion it’s still a place you need to visit.
We went on a Saturday maybe other days are better and not so crowded.
We had 4 hours at the beach which was fine.
On our way back we had to stop in a very very small town because the bus or travel company cooperates with one of the restaurants there. Because me and my boyfriend weren’t hungry it was kind of long to stay there but absolutely okay (one hour).
All in all we recommend this tour.

My partner and I loved this trip. The beach does get quite busy but the tour got us there early so we managed to get a good spot on the beach. You have a good amount of time to explore anhd relax and the guide gave us some great local and historic information about the area. It was a great day out and we would definitely reccomend visiting Elafonisi with Fantasy Travel
