I found the perspective fascinating and I’m glad I got to take this tour. She told very interesting stories you wouldn’t otherwise learn about. The tour leaves from Monastiraki, ends up near Plaka. Maelle was a great time travel guide who was always available over WhatsApp for clues when we got a bit stuck. The riddles and tasks were fun, engaging and varied. It was absolutely fascinating and eye opening. Very highly recommended. We got to see locations of historical significance that were outside of the main attractions and we would never have known about them. We booked the tour as our first activity in Athens, rather by chance and were very happy in hindsight. There were no other people booked that day (and the groups seem to be small anyway), so it was a private tour that gave us an excellent introduction to Greek history and the city. The guide was really knowledgeable, took her time and was very passionate about her topic.

It was my 2nd tour with Culture Hunters and Maëlle, this time I dived into the history of the Athenian Resistance with their guide and narrative and into different places and eras.
It's good to keep expanding your view of history, far from typical, shallow tourist attractions.
It is an art in itself to guide tourists through the city in such a way that you do not feel like an 08/15 tourist, but really smoke. Maëlle has mastered this art effortlessly and it is simply fun to listen to her stories and to bring a piece of history to life in the head cinema through her words... Looking forward to more tours:)

This is a must for anyone interested in understanding the Athens of today by looking at its turbulent past . Maelle is undoubtably learned but combines that with an enthusiasm and passion for her topic such that we were both entertained and informed . Highly recommend this tour. We learned so much context that is shaping our experience of Athens, and providing inspiration for the resistance work we are involved in back home. Our guide was very knowledgeable and fun to talk to. This was a highlight of our trip.
