Clean, new van - if over 6 people, 2 are cramped in front seat with the driver
Vehicle was clean and full of snacks. Driver was professional. We were a group of 8 so two of us were in the front bench with the driver at all times. (I was expecting a larger van.) We were not assisted with skip the line access due to it not being peak season and the lines being small. This was frustrating as I had hoped to not wait in any sort of line given the vast age difference between my youngest age 4 and oldest 75 travel in our group. However, entrance fees were greatly reduced to 5 eur per person b/c it was not peak season, but we had to wait in line for that price. If I had to do it again, we would have hired a guide at the entrance of the Parthenon for that exhibit only, and spent more time there. The lunch was delicious and fresh, however due to it being the Jan 1st holiday observed, the restaurant got extremely crowded after we arrived, and service was slow. I had to text our driver to assist with the bill paying as the staff was so overloaded we were not getting service and my 75 year old hospitable mom stood up to stretch her legs and another guest asked her for her chair, which mistakenly she gave up.

Hi. Thank you for your review. Check your booking and you ll see that this is the size for the van that you've booked. There are more vehicles/sizes when you book that you can choose. During the winter the prices in the sites and museums are half. Due to new years eve these days are more busy but nothing crazy. But always we give you the option to buy the combo ticket. These days were crowded everywhere . Celebrating days are like that. Anyway we are glad that you had good time during the tour and we hope to see you again in the future for more great days. Amazing Experience and Awesome Driver

We booked this tour for 6 people the price was just under 400 USD. This tour was worth every penny. Our driver was Alex and if you can ask for a driver I highly recommend him. He arrived, probably at 9 AM. Extremely friendly, very helpful and very knowledgeable of Greek history. He explained each place we were going to in great detail before we got out the car to explore. He was very receptive to questions and was very passionate about the history. He gave us recommendations for food and he helped us tailor our 8 hours for our needs and wants. My wife ended up getting hurt on the Acropolis and he drove us around liking for a pharmacy and he even got out and translated for us to her the proper treatments. Unfortunately my wife could not finish the tour and instead of just dropping us back off at home he proceeded to just take us on a tour exclusively in the car and explained the places that the rest of the group would see after he dropped us off so she wouldn’t miss out on anything. Even after my wife had been dropped off he asked me how she was doing. Having him as the driver really makes needing a tour guide for an extra 250 euro a waste. The car was a Mercedes van, very clean and he even had water for us. All in all I highly recommend this tour it was a great experience and I would strongly encourage you to ask for Alex as a driver.

There were 4 of us on this tour but we could have included up to 8 for the same price. I agree with other reviewers that you are hiring a driver and vehicle that takes you to a variety of places but the driver is not your guide. He picked us up i a new Mercedes van which was easy to enter and leave and had internet and usb charging ports. He also provided cost water. We opted to add a licensed private guide who was excellent for an extra $260 Euro (300 with tip). Without Catherine, we would have been lost. We started early to get to the Acropolis before the crowds got thick. Our guide went with us to every site and explained in detail the history and importance of every aspect. Without her, we would have been on our own. Your driver will get you there but it up to you to interpret what you see. We concentrated on the Acropolis, the Agora, The Temple of Zeus and the new Acropolis Museum. We drove by many of the other sites and just made a photo stop but our driver would do whatever we wanted and our guide was willing to help us interpret every location. We stopped at a very nice local restaurant for about an hour for lunch. After the Acropolis Museum, we were personally out of gas and went back to our cruise ship. If we had more energy, we could have toured additional sights for another 2 hours. In my opinion, you need 4 people and 6 might be optimal. Adding a private guide is a must for the best experience. Expect to spent about $240 per person.

lamest part of our 21 day trip

We were so excited about this trip, and sadly, it was the lamest part of our trip. We had contacted the operator (Alex?) in advance and he had assured us the tour guide had extensive knowledge of the myhtological history behind these locations. Instead, the driver had trouble finding us, and acted as a taxi driver only, never accompanying us into any of the places we visited. Although we paid $409.05 for the tour, we had to buy tickets to the museums (30 euros x 3 at one, and 10 euros x 3) for the other, as he was dropping us off, he informed us that he had paid for our museum tickets (30 euros) and would need to be reimbursed. We were double parked on a very busy street with cars honking, so i decided not to argue the point, No he couldnt change a 50 euro so he got a 20 euro tip. We noticed lots of high quality tours passing by, and really wish we had taken one of them instead.

Hi. Please next time you ll book a tour see carefully whats included and what its not. You didn't request for a Guide to be with you in the sites and the museum. Is written in the product that you can request a guide with an additional charge to accompany you. In Greece the drivers cannot accompany you by the law inside the sites and this is why we offer another option that you can choose if you like. The previous day you told us that the car cannot come where you stay because the street is very small. We arranged a meeting point, we sent you the Google map, you agreed but you got lost.. I dont know how this is our fault but ok. Anyway the driver picked you up from the place that you were after. Every day I personally make sure that the drivers have the changes that they need for the day. The driver never did that and this is a lie from you. Never had complains like that and its very insulting of what is written here. For everything else that its written on your review we mention on the product as you book. Wonderful trip and fantastic guide
We loved our tour. My daughter (20) and I went with tour guide George all over Athens. We took an overnight flight into Athens and then did this a couple hours after arriving and we were exhausted! I would recommend this tour the first day after traveling in so you're rested. George was very knowledgeable! He showed us all sorts of historical landmarks as well as some sights we weren't expecting. Since we were too tired for a few activities he altered the itinerary for us and took us to some coastal areas and the highest hill in Athens to take in the amazing views. My daughter has high anxiety so this trip was perfect! We could go at our own pace and weren't surrounded by strangers. The Mercedes was pristine and George was quick to offer water which was much appreciated in the hot August sun! I definitely recommend this trip.

Elegant Athens Greece full day tour was one of the best tours we have taken. Our group of 4 were amazed by their knowledge and professionalism. Our driver Mike was prompt any skillful navigating the stops to maximize our time. Our guide Mara was one of the best historians we had as she brought to life the Acropolis and Temples. It was worth the money to receive a great personalized service.

Fantastic driver and experience
Alex picked us up from the cruise port and was our driver/guide for the day. He was friendly, informative, easy to understand and very helpful. He adjusted our tour to allow extra time for my 77 yr old father who was having mobility issues. As we drove around the city, Alex gave us lots of information and told stories but didn't overwhelm us with too many details or ramble on. He answered all of our questions and used our conversation to highlight and expand details on things we showed interest in. He recommended an excellent, affordable restaurant and helped me find a place to buy new luggage.

We had several private tours during our 2 week cruise and Alex was one of our favorites.

The perfect one day Athens tour!

Our itinerary only allowed one day to explore Athens- really an impossible task. Our driver Mike, and our tour guide Katerina, made it possible. Mike went the "extra mile" for us, delivering us to the closest places to avoid walking and even helping our shopping after the tour! Katerina explained the Athens' historical sites clearly and painted a picture of ancient life in the city. She was also very kind and solicitous with my wife's physical limitations- arranging an elevator ride to the Acropolis, etc.
The fees were a bit expensive but worth every penny. Make sure to hire a guide as well as a driver. Ask for Mike and Katarina specifically- you won't be disappointed. This tour was the BEST!

Very poor experience

Very disappointing tour at a very high price. I paid £350 or $422 only to have a driver taking us from place to place. This doesn’t include tickets to any of the monuments. We were very disappointed as our “guide” didn’t explain anything of the monuments. I thought at the very least he could explain well the history of each one of our stops. But all we got, was a driver to take us from monument to monument, telling us that in Greece the history is hidden and no one really knows the truth of anything. We had to read the boards on site to get a minimum understanding as the guide only stayed at the car and didn’t really told us anything. We asked questions and many of the questions he didn’t know the answer. I felt very cheated and wouldn’t recommend it!!

Before you book another tour in the future, at first take a look the exclusions and inclusions. Its very clear that the tickets are not included in the price but the driver will help you to buy it on spot without waiting long lines. Also If you ll search on Trip Advisor you will not tell us again that we are expensive. We are very competitive because our value for money Tours. Our drivers on every tour explain all the history before you enter a site or a museum .They never answer with the words "i don't know" as you mentioned. its better to write the truth in the reviews. Sir, your problem wasn't the driver or the tour. Your problem was that you weren't in a good mood as you were arguing all the time with the rest of the group. You didn't try the local Greek lunch, you didnt enter the Acropolis Museum Because you weren't in a good mood. What we do is: not only to show you the city but we want you to be relaxed and feel like local. To learn about our traditions and the Greek Way of life. Maybe in the future we will change your opinion about us and you ll really enjoy the day. Best Regards

Highly enjoyable visit to the historic city of Athens!
Our guide/driver Dimitris did a superb job showing us the highlights of the ancient city of Athens while providing unique insight and an informed, historical perspective. Dimitris is a warm, knowledgable, enthusiastic, and passionate Greek who patiently answered our questions, always with a smile, while safely navigating the busy streets of Athens. The Acropolis is an awe-inspiring site with grand relics and beautiful views that are not to be missed. The Agora and Temple of Olympian Zues were also amazing, as was the lovely lunch spot where we stopped. Dimitris and Elegant Greek Tours are highly recommended!
