- rurmaz0 contributionsWhen in Athens… private tours with “Athens Insiders”We were 3 couples and had an amazing time during our 4 hours private Acropolis tour. Our guide Mrs. Amarylis was extremely knowledgeable and shared her insiders with us, a great experience to visit Acropolis and the museum with her. We can recommend Athens Insiders, very professional experts and perfect organization. They made our trip memorable, thanks.Written June 17, 2024
- 589anniemaer0 contributionsThe Acropolis has to be seen, and this is the way to do it!Our guide, Sissi, was helpful in planning the visit, strongly (and rightly) suggesting we pre-booked an early time to avoid both the heat and the cruise ship crowds. She was a fount of knowledge about both the Parthenon and Ancient Greek history. Would highly recommend her as a guide.Written June 12, 2024
- Alissa H0 contributionsDelicious and memorable taste of Athens! Our Athens food tour with Jason has been a highlight of our 2 weeks in Greece so far. We went to many different local spots and restaurants and tasted souvlaki/gyros, baklava and the traditional orange cake, coffees, honeys, nuts and dried fruits, olive oils, bougatsa (savory pies), and delicacies such as smoked eggplant, fava dip, sardine dolmades, cured anchovies, loukmades, local wines and more! Jason was knowledgeable and personable and we enjoyed wandering the Plaka neighborhood and flea market with him on our tasting journey.Written June 7, 2024
- Z1401HMnatashaj0 contributionsDo not miss this tour!Absolutely amazing tour, make sure to ask for Ilias - super knowledgeable, not only about Acropolis, but also surrounding areas and landmarks. 5 stars!Written May 30, 2024
- Jo_and_Tom0 contributionsPrivate Tour booked via Greece insider with Athens insiderThis was part of our tour which Greece Insider, planned whole tour of Greece which included Santorini, Create and Athens area. We were lucky to have SBC's Yanus, The Hog, as our private driver. He had previously taken us to Delphi for the Delphi tour. If you have an opportunity asked for Yanus as your driver. We started out and first stop as Corinth canal which we saw, next stop was Mycenae with George, our guide. George was very informative in laying out history, philosophy and conjecture fo the area - he may or may not be to your appreciation. Mycenae, itself is more ruins than rebuilt area. Its was prominent in Greek history from 1600-1300 BC afterwhich there was a decline. The famous Lion Gate at Mycenae site as well as the proposed Agamenon tomb are two of the visited sites. Unfortunately the tomb was vandalized long time ago so they cannot state it was Agamenon or not. The Mycenae "Acropolis" site was also destroyed so much of the buildings are only scattered ruins. The museum itself has some artifacts and replicas - one being the "Agamenon" gold mask - original is in Athens. The Corinth canal is marvel of engineering 1860's. Yanus, also stopped at THE SILO which is an artist studio and shop with many interesting items from Icons, to Greek pottery, Jewelry, and food. The prices vary from expensive - Icons are very good to Authentic Reproduction of pottery. Last stop was winery at which we tasted wine and had lunch.Written April 4, 2024
- Jo_and_Tom0 contributionsA Great Sunday tour with Stevie, She had been guide for 20 years well worth the expenseGreek Insider, our travel agent contract with Athens Insider for a private tour of the Acropolis and the Acropolis museum. We were met 8:30 at Hotel Achilleas which is about 15 minute walk to Acropolis. We arrived at Acropolis and Stevie, our tour guide, lead us into the site. We were there in March so the site was not busy. Since Stevie had everything in order, we just started the tour. There are two ways to get to the top, one is straight up while other, which we took, meanders through several ancient ruins such as Dionysus Theatre, Stolla, Odeon of Herodus Atticus, and finally through the Propylaea, major gateway to the Acropolis. Since it was Easter Lent week for Greek Orthodox and Spring break for other countries, there were student groups. Therefore Stevie took our time for us to enjoy and explain the sites. She even took some great photos of us during trip. After Acropolis, we went to Acropolis museum and she explained many of the artifacts and recreations which were there. Her knowledge was astounding and well worth the cost. There were only two of us with Stevie so we got to ask questions which we wanted to know as well as hear her answers, explanations easily.Written March 30, 2024
- 984kirilld0 contributionsFamily visit to Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural CenterIn Athens, Greece, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) is a shining example of cultural enrichment, providing a wide range of activities for both visitors and families. Our family is dedicated to encouraging cultural interaction, and we have found the SNFCC to be a great resource for our neighbourhood. There is something for everyone at the SNFCC, from its breathtaking architecture to its wide range of programming. The large green area that envelops the centre offers a pleasant diversion from the busy metropolis, ideal for outdoor events like picnics. Our comprehension of literature, music, and the arts is enhanced by the cultural events held at the centre, which include educational workshops, concerts, and exhibitions. Furthermore, the SNFCC's dedication to accessibility guarantees that everyone in the community, regardless of background or socioeconomic status, can participate in cultural experiences. Families who might not otherwise be able to afford such opportunities can access cultural enrichment absolutely for free. We considered the SNFCC to be the high point of our trip as tourists in Athens. Its proximity to other important sites makes it an easy stop for travellers, and its coastal location affords stunning views of the ocean. The centre's cultural offerings improve our overall perception of Athens as a cultural destination by offering a distinctive look into Greek art and heritage.Written January 25, 2024

We were very grateful to her for going the extra mile for us, her knowledge and passion for Greece, and it’s history was evident. We loved her ability to share this with us. The tour was brilliant.Written September 16, 2023
- sofiamA7143TK0 contributionsExceptionalThanks to our incredibly knowledgeable guide Stelios, we immersed ourselves in a series of culinary experiences, set throughout Athens as a backdrop, which proved to be absolutely delightful. This provided us with various opportunities to experience the city in the yummiest of ways! Learning not just about architecture, but about the people, their food and customs. Thanks team!Written September 16, 2023
- jeanolivia0 contributionsAmazing Greek food tourHaving just done a group tour in Reykjavik that was excellent, I was prepared to be underwhelmed with this one but to my surprise, it was amazing! Mostly because our guide Era was wonderful. She was personable and very knowledgeable about the area and the food. She easily answered all of our questions and led us to several small, family-owned shops with different types of food. She also took us to the local market to see how most local folks got their groceries. We sampled lots of different food, learned about the various types of olive oil, and traveled down many beautiful small walkways among other things. As an added bonus her English was very clear and easy to understand. Just be ready to walk on cobblestones and climb steps.Written August 14, 2023

- G4808MBjuliec0 contributionsGreat activity for first day in Greece!Vicky took us (mom/18 yo daughter) on a walking food tasting tour of Athens. It was a great first introduction to Greece at the beginning of our 2 week trip. Some of the best food we had the entire trips was on the tour with Vicky. We combined our food tasting tour with a tour of the Acropolis and she knew a lot about history, mythology, and travel throughout Greece as well. Vicky provided us with a lot of tips that were helpful throughout the rest of our trip. Hanging out with Vicky in Athens was one of the highlights of our trip.Written July 9, 2023
