How to make the most of a full day in Athens
Having finished with a work conference, I had a spare day in Athens and luckily was recommended this full day tour. What they say about Greeks being friendly and welcoming is absolutely true - our driver was very informative, made us laugh and showed us the main sights around the city. The vans were very comfortable, felt like an extension of my business trip but with a homely feel. Thanks again George and see you soon!!

The golden age of Athens full day private tour. An unforgettable experience!
As the name implies the services of Splendid Greece Tours were more than expected! John was more than helpful and provided it us with a lot of 'new' information regarding the ancient Athens and its monuments. The itinerary of the tour is ideal as you have the chance to see all the great ancient secrets of Athens. John (the driver) knew everything regarding Athens and he even took as to some 'not so popular' sight seeings that not many tourist agents know. Last but not least, the whole experience from the initial communication with the office to the tour itself was amazing! I would highly recommend these guys as they have both the quality and the expertise in what they do! P.S loved the small tips, thank you guys!

Exploring Greece with a Private Driver
We would thoroughly recommend Splendid Greece Tours. John picked us up from Athens Airport and drove us to our hotel, giving us some interesting pointers on seeing the sights of Athens. Kostas was our "minder" for 6 days ensuring that everything ran smoothly for us. We first took a 1 day tour of Athens, Corinth and Old Corinth, although apart from the Acropolis experience, the highlight for me was Acrocorinth, sprawled high on a hilltop, a huge castle complex I had never heard of before. With Kostas we then did a 5 day tour of Delphi, Meteora and the Zaghorhoria region. Delphi brought all our school day history alive. Meteora had a real aura about it with 6 working monasteries perched high on great columns of rock. In the Zagorhoria region we saw some of the 46 stone villages, with roofs made of stone and many small stone arched bridges. What my research hadn't prepared me for was the might and power of the mountains there and the 900m drop of Vikos Gorge. We stayed in small family run hotels which gave a certain authenticity to the regions we visited. Kostas had a great sense of humour and answered all our many questions. He squeezed us in to all the best vantage points for our photos, was always on time and looked after me and my sensitive stomach at mealtimes. All in all it was a great experience.

          Great day tour in Athens
We visited Athens and came by ship. The Athens day tour was great. On time, professional, knowledgeable and went to all the main attractions. Our guide took us to a great family restaurant for lunch and it was phenomenal! Overall great value and over 8 hours of tour time! Recommend for cruise ship guests! My teenager loved it. Wine tour was a little disappointing!!
We had taken a customized tour of Nemea winnery, Corinth canal and ancient Corinth. Corinth canal and ancient Corinth were very nice but the wine tour was just disappointing. We just got to taste the wine and see the vineyards. Apparently the season was three months away so they had no process going on . We were expecting to see the whole process of crushing and bottling so it was like just going all the way just to taste good wine. Splendid tours could have informed us about the off season. Anyways the tour guide Notis was really sweet, he showed us around ancient Corinth and even took us to a really good tavern for lunch.

Extraordinary tour to Ancient Corinth! Best tour ever! 100% recommended
I booked the half-day tour to Corinth to follow Saint Paul's steps the night before. Since the beginning the service was excellent, fast and efficient. The driver and guide tour, Kostas, picked me up 8:30 sharp to take me from the hotel in Athens, to Corinth. The tour was AMAZING. Kostas gave me a detailed and very interesting explanation about St. Paul's mission in Greece, and also provided me with historical facts of St. Paul and Greece. The journey was very confortable, the vehicle was spacious and clean. The route to Corinth is beautiful, you can have a great view of the coast and see the incredible turquoise Aegean Sea -even in winter, with a perfect clear sky. Our first stop was in Acrocorinth -the Acropolis of Corinth: a fortified citadel of ancient and medievel Corinth. This place is a MUST. During winter the entrance is free of charge, and is not crowded at all. Actually I had the whole place for myself. Once in Acrocorinth, Kostas waited for me in the parkway and with no pressure of time, I entered the fortress. I felt like in a movie, this place is magical and has a exceptional view of Greece: green mountains, blue sky, turquoise ocean and very far away snowy mountains. Since Acrocorinth is a high peak, is very windy, so make sure to bring a coat and a scarf! After an hour at this amazing place, I came down to continue my journey to Ancient Corinth. Ancient Corinth is an arqueological site with the ruins of what old Corinth used to be. If you have a student ID, the entrance will be free of charge. This is a must-see if you are interest in history and/or in St. Paul's mission, is a jewel. Full of majestic ruins, including the imposing archaich Temple of Apollo. This site inspired me calmness and spirituality. You can clearly see the platform where St. Paul preached and where he was subject of trial. Very exciting! After Ancient Corinth, we made a stop in the Corith canal, to appreciate this impressive canal. At the end of the tour, I was returned safely to my hotel, and very very pleased. There is no place like Corinth. Is just the most incredible place I've been at, specially Acroacropolis: don't miss it! I recommend this tour 100%. Kostas was extremely friendly, professional, courteous and attentive. Since I was by myself, he even offered to take me pictures with my camera and I had zero pressure for timing. He was very fun and knowleageble. He taught me about greek history and mythology as well and was very open to answer any question I have. So, if you are travelling alone, or with friends/family and if you are interest in history, in St. Paul, and/or nature, this is an excellent choice! and make sure Kostas takes you, he is great!!

          Incredible Day Out!
From the booking process to the day itself, this could not have been a more enjoyable day out. I initially booked a car to take me around Athens and 'see the sights' as I'd been to Athens before on a boat organised coach tour and really didn't get the feel of the city at all - it was far too rushed and 'cattle' like. This private tour was the complete opposite - I couldn't have felt that the tour was more individualised at all. I'd met two elderly ladies on the boat who were interested in 'tagging along' and on arrival, the chaufeur apologised (yes apologised) that as no cars were available, would we mind a mini-bus. This was just one example of our drivers impeccable English and good manners. We were taken to all the expected sights in Athens and even to a few that the driver knew about - as he lived there himself. He timed the changing of the guard perfectly. The trip had been paid for many months ago, but it was a delight for the three of us to demonstrate our thanks with a few extra pounds / dollars whatever. Book it. It's a great day out. Kevin

Terrific private tour - Arcropolis and more, for a good price
This was an excellent private 6-hour tour of the major sights in Athens. Our tour guide, Helen Maina, and driver Spanos arrived right on time to pick us up at our hotel. We visited all the sights we were most interested in seeing - at our own pace. Helen, an archeologist, was extremely knowledgeable, pleasant and patient with our questions. In addition to the Acropolis visit, we especially enjoyed the Acropolis Museum and seeing the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Climbing to the top of the Acropolis involves many, many steps - comfortable shoes a must! Our driver was very friendly and helpful and was right there when we were ready to go on to the next site.

          Great Tour!
My husband and I took the full day corinth, epidaurus, napfplion, and mycenae tour. Our driver, Anthony was prompt in arriving to pick us up from our hotel. He was very friendly, fluent in English, and very accommodating. The van that we rode in for the day was very spacious, comfortable, and clean. We had adequate time to see each of the sites without feeling rushed. Since Tony is a driver and not a tour guide, he could not accompany us inside of the sites, but we were pleased that he played informative videos on the van monitor in route to each site. Tony even took us to a family-run souvenir shop, per our request, where we purchased numerous unique gifts. We highly recommend Splendid Greece tours. Request Tony as your driver!

5 Day Honeymoon trip around Greece
My wife and I spent 5 days of our honeymoon in Nov 2013 touring Greece with a custom tour booked with Spendid Greece Tours. We inquired about a standard tour and then began emailing with John who crafted a unique tour just for us. Our tour was 4 days of private driving to Corinth, Mycenae, Epidaurus, Delphi, Olympia, Meteora, and Thermopylae. The fifth day we took a one day cruise to 3 small islands near Athens. The package deal for both of us ran around 1400Euro including hotels and breakfast but not site entry or other meals. It was a great value for all that we saw. The tour company was very responsive to our emails and requests, and our driver Alex met us at the hotel right on time. He has a 20 passenger Mercedes Van just for us with umbrella, maps, water, DVDs about the sites and more. Alex spoke great English and was very knowledgeable and helpful regarding everything on our tour. He spent as much or little time with us as we desired but always made sure we had what we needed especially if it came to an umbrella! Greece has some strange regulations on tour guides so Alex (a driver not a guide) couldn't accompany us into any of the sites, but he did more than enough to ensure that we knew we needed before arriving to each location. John and Alex went out of their way many times to ensure we had a great honeymoon and Greek tour. The fifth day with the cruise was what one might expect of a large, canned tour. We were picked up late at our hotel, walked half a mile to a bus stop with the cruise agent and then bused to the port where we boarded a large cruise ship with several hundred other people. It had all the cheesy cruise attributes one might expect including taking your picture and trying to sell it to you, bad music, expensive drinks, etc. It is apparently the standard one day cruise from Athens that goes to three tiny islands with nothing more than stray cats and tourist stores. The islands are Hydra, Poros and Aegina. It is about a 12hr day with an hour on each island and the rest either sailing or waiting. The included lunch was very good, and this cruise is a great way to see the Greek coast if you don't have the time for a proper Mediterranean cruise. We were glad we did it and recommend it if it is your only option to get out to sea in Greece, but it was what we expected of a low-cost, large, tourist attraction. Set your expectations and you will not be disappointed. All in all, we had a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend anyone see Greece with John and Alex.
