    Great for Solo Travelers
Great tour and very comprehensive! Our guide gave us lots of info that I would not have known without her! She was very knowledgeable and well spoken. I went solo, but ended up meeting friends on the trip. I nightly recommended it for solo travelers!

Great way to explore the city!
We had a wonderful food tour with a knowledgeable host, Elissavet. She went out of her way to cater to our interests, and she had great facts about Athens and Greek culture and history. We learned a lot about Greek food and the city, and we really appreciated the follow up email with suggestions for the rest of our trip. It was very thoughtful. Well worth the time and cost! Elissavet was delightful and really enhanced our experience.

    Recommend this tour.
My family had a wonderful time. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. We toured a number of sites. Wear good walking shoes. The guide provided a mix of mythology and archeology for all ages. Following the tour, our guide gave us recommendations for a great local lunch.

It's peeking behind the curtain of Athens
My husband and I really enjoyed our walking tour of Athens and various neighborhoods. I loved seeing the backstreets of neighborhoods we might have missed all together! Our tour guide was knowledgeable but also fun to hang out with for a couple hours!

    Amazing tour with great views
The tour was great. All the mythology ties in with the history of Greece. I enjoyed it after doing so many tours/visits of soled focused Greek history. It was a different view point of the history mixed with the Greek mythology.

    Spectacular Tour of various sites
This was a wonderful tour of various sites around Athens. The focus was on mythology but we learned quite a bit about the history of Athens and got lots of local color. Our tour guide, Amaryllis, was fantastic. She was both a teacher and an expert archeologist. We were with her for 4 hours and the time flew by. There was a bit of walking but she shared information with us the entire way and was helpful to those less nimble on how to maneuver at certain sites. (Note-you did need to buy some tickets in advance of the tour and we almost didn't see that. It's important.) I highly recommend this tour.

Fun tour with excellent customer service
What a wonderful tour! Our guide Alex was very engaging and friendly. I majored in Classics in college, so I knew a lot of the basics, but he had tons of stories and interpretations of the myths to share that were new to me! It was the ideal mixture of fun, fantastical stories with historical interpretations for their meanings. At some point I got separated from the group on the Acropolis, and they proceeded to the Ancient Agora without me. But Alternative Athens was very helpful -- I called the office, and the woman Danae on the phone was able to help me navigate through the city to reunite with the group. Both the sites and the service provided by the company were top notch, I would highly recommend to anyone!

A delicious, informative, and fun tour!
Antigoni was an amazing guide! She had a lot of great information about Athens, it's history and culture, and places we passed as we went from one stop to another. She was able to point out places for us to check out later based on things we said we were interested in, and she took time to get to know us. All of the stops and the food/coffee were really good, and we left feeling full. The tour is a great value for your money, highly recommend it.

    Love Greek mythology
stories were fantastic but a little winded... I feel like we could have moved at a slightly faster pace and if he could speak up .. or have a microphone. Other than that, Apollon was very good.

Hello, we were a group of 6 (2 adults and 4 teenagers) and we had one bad and one good experience.

The bad experience (over over rated and very expensive) was the Olimpic game workout. I think the way the games were organized, the facility, the lack of space to practice, the improvisation (“let’s jump here…no, maybe here, no, no…” ), the lack of quality of materials made it a very unfun, unatractive, boring experience. At the end I felt it was lost money (lots of it).

The good experience was with a guy named Nikos, who made us a tour of Streets Art. Even we were tired after the Olimpic FAILURE, Nikos managed to show us interesting art, spoke very pragmatic about it and we spend 3 great hours very nicely. Thanks Nikos! Good value for the money.

Dear Razvan, Thank you for the time you took to give us your feedback, both on Viator and Google. I am sorry the Olympic Games Workout didn't meet your expectations, but happy you enjoyed our Street Art tour, although this is sadly not reflected in this 1* review. The Olympic Games Workout is probably our highest rated activity on Viator and this is the first negative review this activity has ever had. It has been presented on multiple TV programmes as one of the top things to do in Athens, including UK's Chanel 4 & Chanel 5 shows. The activity takes place in public spaces, ie the oldest Gym of Athens, still in operation and of course the Panathenaic Olympic Stadium. In that respect your trainers always need to adjust according to the conditions and other people present each day, so it's something dynamic. In addition, the materials used are the best they can be baring in mind you can't use an actual sphere, discus or javelin due to safety reasons, but you do touch and see an actual one with your trainer. In any case I understand you might have had different expectations and I am sorry we didn't manage to meet them. Best regards, Tina

This was a great experience and I am so glad I booked this! A serious must but you don’t need to be a sports buff! I love to walk but not necessarily exercise and I did this mostly for my 11 year old son to have a truly memorable once in a lifetime experience. I mainly took photos and videos of him enjoying it. Our tour guide was awesome and incredibly knowledgeable and very fun and motivating. My son and I were never bored or felt awkward. We had a great time and I would truly truly wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone looking to do something unique and fun while exploring a must see location. If you’re planning on visiting the stadium anyway, you might as well spend the extra money for this truly amazing experience.

We had an excellent time with our guide learning fun facts about the history of the Olympics. She sprinkled in some minor physical activity, including instruction for traditional Olympic sports including javelin, shot put, long jump and running. She added sweet touches like family “competitions”, cards to track your success, and a podium finish with a crowned winner. We all loved it, which is plus when traveling with 15 and 12 year old boys!

I did this with my teenage son. We both really enjoyed the 2 hours on the trip. Tonya was very good as our instructor. You get to do the shot putt but don't get to throw a real javelin or discus but we got the idea. Everyone had to run around the Zappeion Hall as a warm-up, adults and kids so bring your running shoes.
NB this workout does not start at the Old Olympic Stadium (Panathinaikou Stadiou) but at Zappeion Hall fountain. Good for teenagers to learn some history while doing some activities.

It's a great mix of information about the Olympic games and fun exercises like in the first Olympic Games. Our guide Tonia managed it perfectly to make differences between sporty adults, kids and the ones who weren't that sporty. We had so much fun. Canhighly recommend it.

Really great tour/workout for our family of three. We all loved it, especially our athletic 10 year-old. We learned a little about the history of the Olympics, received some training on the javelin, discus, shot put and long jump, and then walked to the stadium and ran a few laps.

My family loved this activity! Katherine, our trainer, was a great instructor and shared many insights about the Olympic tradition in Greece and the buildings we saw. It was truly a highlight to run around the track of the Panathenaic Stadium. My sporty and active family (two adults and two kids ages 10 and 14) loved learning about each sport, how to properly do each one, and the competition. Katherine adjusted each event to be fairly contested. :)

We did this tour with Kathleen and is was a highlight of our short Athens stay. I, along with two 18 y/o’s really enjoyed this experience. We met with Kathleen and actually practiced with a discuss, shot put and javelin. We also had the opportunity to run on the Olympic track. An added bonus was the history of the games Kathleen provided and the excellent photos she took of our little group. I highly recommend this tour if you like a tour that is more interactive.

What an experience , we booked this tour as we are both keen Olympic viewers. Tonia was very knowledgable and trying the sports was a lot of fun. Finishing the morning running on the track at the 1896 Olympic Stadium was amazing and a memory we won’t forget! thank you Aternative Athens for an unfortgetable day .

We booked this activity mainly for the kids (12&15) but we also loved it. Katherine did a very good mix of explanations about the old olympic games and showing different exercices. We did not expect it to be so physical (nothing too strenuous though), but so much fun. Our kids especially liked the facts that the culture was mixed with fun and for them they found it the best activity of the holidays. Totally recommend it!!!!
