Steer art walk tour a must!
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and clearly very interested in making sure everyone had a good time . He had degrees in subject matter related to the art tour , which added to the fun and high level of information presented. It was much more interesting To see real neighborhood areas along the way.

A great way to visit the Acropolis.
Vassia was a great tour guide, she was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Thank you for a wonderful tour of the Acropolis and Agora. By the way, if the tour starts at 8:45, make sure you buy the 9-10 slot, not the 8-9 slot like we did.

    Excellent Tour guide.
Tour guide, Magda, was excellent! 5 STARS for her knowledge of mythology, history & architecture. She was engaging and presentation was awesome. It is a long tour, with long periods of standing & getting information. We met @ 8:45 am and by the time we got to the Acropolis steps it was 11:40 and VERY CROWDED. This is the only disappointment- the timing. Tickets are included & indeed we easily went thru entry quickly but there wasn’t really long lines anyway. There was a great deal of info supplied on the walk up the Acropolis, but if we got there earlier perhaps it wouldn’t have been so crowded.

    Terrific Tour!
Andreas was a terrific guide! He was knowledgeable and easygoing. We learned so much about Greece: its history beyond the ancient times, its present triumphs and struggles. The variety of neighborhoods was interesting, the walking pace was just right and time chatting over a coffee felt like friendship. This tour surpassed all our expectations. ... most highly recommended!

Inspiring insights to Athens Street Art culture
Nikos welcomed us warmely to his phantastic Street Art Walk through some neighbourhoods in Athens. Very competent, very well informed and so informative. Even small pieces or nearly destroyed works attracted our attendance by his execellent guidance. He also talked about restauration of houses, living in Athens, difference of neighbouhoods. Nikos not only knows Arthens Art culture, he knows a lot about his city. And even more, he is transporting his narrative in execellent stories. Thank you for your phantastic tour Nikos.

    Wonderful tour of the Acropolis!!
This was a very good tour of Athens and the Acropolis. Our tour guide, Simon, was very informative on the history and mythology. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting to do a guided tour through the Acropolis. Please make sure you have good walking shoes, as we walked approximately 4.5 miles during our tour and many of the marble surfaces are slick. Also, make sure to pre-purchase your entry tickets or contact the guides to purchase for you. One couple didn't do this and we're not able to go on the tour.

    What a great day!
What a fantastic day! Our tour guide Kimon was the best - he has a background in archaeology; he's so knowledgeable and a great story teller. I learned so many cool things throughout the day, saw all the beautiful sites I wanted to see, and had a good laugh. All in all a great day! Would definitely recommend Kimon, so glad we had him.

    A journey into time
My wife and I completed the Mythological Tour with Kimon and a group of half a dozen other couples. We both found the tour to be incredibly informative. Kimon proved to be very knowledgeable, had a great sense of humor and connection with group. He seemed like an interesting guy to grab a beer with. At the end he read a quote from Perakles which I found to be moving and very topical even in today’s times. I would recommend this tour and our guide to any of our friends/family visiting Athens.

    Unique Exploration of Athens
We did the street art tour with Leo. He was very passionate about street art as an art form and as an Athenian form of expression. The tour was well paced, and Leo took the time to answer our questions about the art and the cultural and political context it was created under. He also shared a helpful follow up PDF with the artist names. We were able to recognize an artist he had shown us on our own when we were walking around later that evening! I would recommend this tour highly to anyone visiting the area, interested in art, or who wants to see a bit more of modern Greek life.

    An invaluable experience!
We loved this tour so much. Andreas was a very engaging host, teaching and showing us so much about modern and historical Greek culture in a fun and relaxed way. We went to some incredible venues that we would never have found on our own. Highly recommend!

    Great learning and walking tour!
This tour was an excellent experience for my family, including our teenage son, who admires street art. We learned a ton and saw some incredible artwork. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about Athens, the artists and the artwork. Highly recommend!

    Good tour
This was the last tour we did on the vacation . It was a nice break from normal type of tour and fun to hear the different stories . The only reason I took away a star was because the acropolis area was jam packed which caused our guide to skip over some of the areas on the lower part of the hill and rush to the top . Bring lots of water !

An engaging tour to participate in once in Athens.
Andreas Mogridge was an amazing tour guide who provided us with a wealth of information of all the most important neighborhoods, culture, foods and history of Athens. Highly energetic tour guide with an engaging personality and very interesting tidbits. This is not your typical visit. A must to do once in Athens.

This food tour was so great. The pacing and variety of food and drink was fantastic. Andreas was also a terrific guide. His deep knowledge of the Greek culture was impressive. Being curious and asking questions helped the tour be much richer than if I would have just listened and never asked questions. If you are lucky enough to have Andreas as a guide get ready to have a great time. He guides you through the city with such smoothness and offers fun, interesting and deep knowledge. I recommend having a very light breakfast before this trip b/c you'll have lots of food to eat and will want to try everything thing. Highlights were eating at a Taverna and learning of the history of them, baklava (OF COURSE) and the souvlaki was incredible. Wear some good walking shoes and get ready for a great time! I also had my 6-year old son with me and the chocolate Baklava gave him energy to be a good sport the whole time.

This was a great way to see the inside of Athens. Josephine was our guide. Her english is excellent. She is knowledgeable about the cuisine, the city, the customs, the food's history and its ingredients. The Olive oil stop was the best of all with Erica's enthusiastic and expert discussion and the tastings. We had been in Greece 9 days when we took this tour, so we had sampled many of the foods already, but Josephine was good at finding suitable alternatives. She was friendly and easy to accompany. Another traveler might do the food tour in the earliest days of a visit as an introduction to menu options. It is a great value for the cost. We couldn't eat another bite!

We had a great tour with Antigoni, Delicious Athens Food Tour. We tasted a lot of different foods, visited different neighborhoods and learned a lot about the Greek cuisine plus Greek history. Antigoni was very informative, answered all of our questions, and was very personable and friendly. For anyone interested in the Greek cuisine, I highly recommend this tour and Antigoni. Our tour was small (total of 6) and we enjoyed meeting and talking with the other participants.

I cannot recommend any food tour more highly than the Delicious Athens Food Tour with Alternative Athens! I was lucky enough to be with Josephine as a tour guide. She is fun knowledgeable and very easy to talk to. I really enjoyed the tour through a lot of traditional Greek foods. You get a great experience from fresh olive oils, breads, meats, coffee, numerous traditional dishes, desserts, and so much more. Additionally walking around town you will get info on the neighborhoods, customs, and even some historical background thrown in. While the tour is food centered it is a great way to get a crash course in local Greek life. I ask a lot of questions so I really got a great education from the 4 hours we toured around. Josephine is from Athens and she also happens to have a masters in archeology so she really has a lot of wisdom to share. I really enjoyed touring through the Central Market and seeing all of the food vendors there. I can’t think of anything negative to say about this tour. It is a very designed tour and well thought out in terms of stops. I am someone who tends to go on a food tour in every major city and country I visit – I’ve probably been on at least 20+ food tours – and without hesitation this was the most memorable experience that I had. I was even sent some traditional Athens recipes via email after the tour ended. The company Alternative Athens is prompt at responding to inquiries and they are incredibly professional (but also without losing that personal touch). I hope to return and to do more tours with them. Thank you again to Josephine and Alternative Athens!!!

We hired Alternative Athens for a Food Tour for six of us and had a very enjoyable time. Antigoni was our guide and she not only showed us several Greek foods (which were all delicious by the way), but she also informed us of the history of the dishes and showed us different sites along the way. She was very personable and knowledgeable. We highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to get an idea of the culture of the local food and have a good time doing it.

For the last few years we made a habit out of taking a food tour on the first day when we visit a city. On this very nice tour through Athens we had Joséphine as our guide. She is definitely one of the most awesome tour guides we ever met and took us on a beautiful and delicious tour where she told us lots about the Greek cuisine and about some nice facts about the city.
With all the awesome stops during the tour it is very hard to say what was the best but our personal highlights were the most delicious Baklava we ever had in our lives. After the tour Joséphine supplied us with a list of some traditional recipes (of which are some part of the tour) and even gave us personal tips for day trips around Athens and some of her favorite restaurants.

Thank you Joséphine for your wonderful way of presenting your city and thanks to alternative athens

What a magical experience. We met other travellers, shared Greek food, found a new way to enjoy a city and the learned so much about the history, culture and joy of Athens.

Our guide, Antigoni made the day extra special. She knew so much and in a very personable way shared her thoughts and knowledge with us all. She was super proud of her heritage and is the perfect person to deliver this type of tour. Alternative Athens …… Antigoni is an Athens Angel and the tour was the best because of her and the places and people she introduced us to. Highly recommend this tour - just make sure that you dont eat too much before you start the tour 😉

The food was delicious and the stops our guide Antigoni chose offered a great introduction to Greek cuisine, highlighting what makes the food in Athens special. Our favorite stops were Kostas for pork souvlaki, Baklavas for pistachio baklava, and Lukumades for their famous donuts.
The tour was also a wonderful introduction to some of the most interesting neighborhoods in the city - Plaka, Psyrri, and Monastiraki.
Antigoni showed an interest in getting to know each of us individually, and made special stops according to our interests and requests. She also shared her own personal history and family stories and that gave us a personal connection to Athens and the Greek people.
She is genuine and kind, and has a calm demeanor, which helped when navigating the busy, somewhat hectic Athens streets.
Before starting the tour, she made sure to check for allergies and food aversions to ensure that we would have a pleasant experience, which I greatly appreciated.
I can't recommend Antigoni and the Delicious Athens tour enough - truly one of the best experiences we had in the city! Thank you!

Definitely a great way to start your vacation in Athens. Loved supporting local shops/restaurants and learning about local cuisine. We went back to a few of the stops in the days we were in the city. Our guide was super helpful and friendly. She made sure to set a pace some older folks in on our tour group could manage without difficulty. Well done!
