About
After skip-the-ticket office line to the Acropolis, learn about highlights such as the Theater of Dionysus from your guide. Next, see the many sights of the Agora, including Hephaestus Temple, the Church of the 12 Apostles, the Temple of Apollo Patroos, the Altar of Zeus, and more. Because this is a small-group tour, you can ask plenty of questions, and you even have time on your own to snap photos. Please note admission to the attractions is not included in the tour price, and needs to be paid in cash to your guide.
Please be aware that even with our skip-the-ticket-line service, there might be some waiting time required for security checks. This is because visitor numbers can fluctuate unpredictably at the sites throughout the day. The typical waiting time falls within 0 to 10 or 30 minutes, though on rare occasions, it might be longer.

About the operator

- LMW10580 contributionsThe cherry on top! This was a really great way to end my first visit to Greece. Stella was personable, entertaining & informative. The meal was delicious!Written October 10, 2024
- Kia K0 contributionsLoved it!Very informative, alexandria was a great tour guide, learned a lot! A must see in Athens! Would recommend to anyone in the area. Also good price.Written October 9, 2024
- Lori M0 contributionsAmazing early acropolis tour with NiobeWe did the early morning acropolis with museum tour. Niobe was our guide and she was amazing. I do suggest the early morning, as it was cool outside as well as being among the first to enter the site. We had time for pictures, our group was small (10 people), and Niobe was full of information! We learned so much and Niobe made all of it very interesting. She is passionate about the history and the current events of the site. The museum was also fascinating! Thank you, Niobe!Written October 9, 2024
- highlandbride0 contributionsKnowledgeable guide and turnkey visit, marred by malfunctioning audio systemOur guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The pace was good with frequent stops to explain ruins and moments along the way. Buying the package that included the entry ticket saved us time, but the entry time was slightly different than our tour time so we were held back momentarily until the guide convinced the staff to let us in. What's not to like: the meeting point, Fresko Yogurt Bar had the filthiest bathroom I visited during a week in Athens. The guide's printed diagrams and illustrations to show how things would have looked long ago were in a folder, unbound and she kept dropping them. The audio guide system was very useful, but it stopped working during our visit inside the Acropolis due to a dead battery and she had no replacement. So she had to speak loudly, and got chided by other guides to stop shouting. The tour fizzled after the audioguide system stopped working. There was no flag or umbrella to follow so we had to watch the other people in our group to make sure we were with the right group - there were hundreds of tour groups inside, and even toward the end of the day the place was heaving with tourists that detracted from the amazing experience of visiting one of great wonders of the world. Be aware: the restroom inside the Acropolis (old museum building) was out of order because visitors were flushing the toilet paper - a no-no in Greece due to delicate plumbing.Written October 8, 2024
- louisethegenie0 contributionsHighly informative and well organised guided walking tour of The AcropolisI would highly recommend a guided walking tour up to The Acropolis with Athens Walking Tours. The tour was good value and very well organised and did not have too many people on it. Our tour guide, Sotirios, was so knowledgeable and answered all our questions. There were regular stops on the way up to the top of the tour where Sotirios pointed our various areas and explained all the historical facts that were related. We also had plenty of time for photos. Visiting The Acropolis is a must for anyone visiting Athens and I would recommend a guided tour rather than self guided.Written October 8, 2024

- jamesmY2565QD0 contributionsSmall group, early entry Walking Tour Athens - is the way to goWe found Athens Walking Tours on Trip Advisor and very happy with our choice. We have a good friend that lives in Athens and her only recommendation was "go early" to the Acropolis. To that advise we added the "small group" walking tour and it was perfect. The early start time gave us almost an hour or more ahead of all the cruise ship tours. Plus you beat the heat in addition to the crowds. We have 4 couples in our group so it was easy to navigate and "bob and weave" as the crowds grew. Our tour guide Niobe was awesome! She was so sweet, relaxed and new all the shady spots to stop to rest and talk. She had extensive knowledge of all things Greek (not just about the Acropolis) and we really appreciated not only the learning aspect, but just how easy she made it all. We felt like we were in our own little bubble as the mass of humanity grew as the morning progressed. Highly recommend early morning and small group tours for a more personalized experience. Thank you Niobe for sharing your time and knowledge with usWritten September 29, 2024
- anthonyrV282AO0 contributionsGreat Tour and well guidedDespina was the perfect guide for this tour. We learnt about the history and the reality of the acropolis. 2 hours was a good length for the tour and then we spent another 45 mins exploring the sites more closely.Written September 26, 2024
- innercitychic0 contributionsElevate the museum with a great guideThis was superb. Our guide was excellent, well paced, knowledgeable and a great communicator. It was so much richer than either going alone or the self paced audio ( which I did as well). The museum itself is beautiful. Gorgeous architecture and cleverly curated. I love that the top floor is structured to replicate the dimensions of the Parthenon ( our guide told me that!) The company allows you to stay on after the tour and that’s also worthwhile so allow yourself that time. The restaurant is also terrific. We had afternoon tea there- good food and a beautiful view. Not too expensive. You need to take euros to pay for the entrance fee - the company gets the tickets for you so it’s fast track but easy to miss in the fine print! So well organised and a total highlight in a special city. Thoroughly recommend this. Thank you.Written September 25, 2024
- Tourist6681470 contributionsThe view is Amazing 3This is a different cooking class to those experienced in other countries. It was more of an interactive demonstration. Other classes you are given all of the ingredients and cook the dishes yourself, with this one we all got given a job rather than cook the whole dish. There were seven dishes to prepare the restaurant cooked the food, and then we ate it in the garden with an amazing view. The food was delicious.Written September 25, 2024
- GNHEAL0 contributionsA tour guide really added to the experienceWalked to the Acropolis and saw the queues for tickets and the queues for entrance which were very long and most of the queue was in the open with no shade/cover so decided to look for a 'skip the queue' service and found this company on Google under 'Headout' and made a booking for 1130 and got e-tickets & info via WhatsApp. 3 minutes later took a call from Greece and exoected it to be our hotel informing us that we could check in early however it was Headout telling me they couldn't accomodate us and offered the next day as an alternative. We took some time to consider before calling back to confirm we would take up a tour the following day because we had to shuffle other plans around. The meeting point was a 20 minute walk from our hotel (there was a bus & tram stop nearby) which was easy using Google maps. We arrived early just in case there was an issue because we still had yesterdays e-ticket but there wasn't a problem and we sat and ate some fruit and yoghurt because the meeting point is at Fresko Yoghurt BarAcropoli. We were asked to be there at 1115 hours for an 1130 start which wasn't unreasonable, a member of the tour staff checked us off and issued tickets and relay boxes/ear piece. Our tour guide Antonis gathered us together, we all had relays and a ear piece so he checked that everything was working before we took off. The access point was a short walk away and we used a turnstile which seemed to be reserved for people with tickets. I was slightly concerned about my partner's ability to keep up with the group and not slowing everyone down by Antonis walked at a slow steady pace and made frequent stops to allow the group to come together and impart info which is something we would not have had if we had just bought tickets ourselves. There is a gentle incline until you get to the base where it gets quite steep, even the steps are quite steep and you need to be sure footed. It was very busy but Antonis managed to keep the group together, and on reaching the top there was spectacular scenery! There is plenty to see on the way up, and you could take a few pics and keep in contact with the group. When the tour ended we handed Antonis the equipment and we were free to stay around or go back down. Antonis had suggested visiting Plaka which is a different route to our entry which we did having been suggested by a friend who had visited a week earlier. Undoubtedly this tour is more expensive than just getting a ticket at the gate, but the info you get really frames the Acropolis and its history so we felt the money was well spent. If you intend booking I suggest you do it at least the day before, wear sunscreen & a hat/cap and take water with you (you can get drinking water on the top from fountains but need a bottle) but there is nothing once inside the turnstiles. There is disabled access to the top via lift which must be pre-booked by phoning in advance for details and terms (+30 210 3214172, +30 210 9238470) and is on the North West side. It clearly works as I saw a few people with wheeled walking aids who could only have got to the top by lift.Written September 23, 2024
- 493Mike0 contributionsBest way to experience the Acropolis and AthensGreat walking tour which was well organised, relaxed, informative and friendly. Group size was good - not too big. Our guide Hermes was very knowledgeable and helpful and clearly loved doing the tour.Written September 20, 2024
- JB60TRAVELS0 contributionsGreat Walking and Food TourWhile you should certainly explore the historical sights of Athens, if you have time, you should take this tour. It is just a quick 2 metro stop ride from Syntagma that brings you to an area where there are few tourists. Our guide, Eva, who was wonderful , took us on a walking tour of an area where you will find hidden night clubs, after hours clubs , open air cinemas , lots of graffiti and mural and some amazing food . You will see locals dining with friends under a tree, having drinks with friends and families with little kids enjoying a local park. We made several food stops, with different food to enjoy at each stop. Amazing pies with phyllo pastry, souvlaki unlike what you will find in the tourist areas and some local dishes that are not served at the restaurants in the central tourist area. And some very locally brewed Athenian beer. This tour will expose you to the "real" Athens , being enjoyed by locals. The area was relatively quiet when we started our tour, but was starting to come alive at the end of the tour, as tons of people were streaming out of the metro stop. We were fortunate, as they had a last minute cancellation , so it was just the two of us and our guide , Eva. Eva was charming and very easy to talk to, sharing bits about the local area and about her very interesting life. It was like taking a nice walk and enjoying some food with a friend. I highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to get a glimpse into the life of Athens, as the city is more than monuments and the Acropolis.Written September 18, 2024
- Jennifer T0 contributionsInformative and a must do when visiting Athens.Informative and seamless operation. Our guide was great she was friendly but kept us in check to ensure we we did lot het lost in the hordes of tourists. I highly recommend doing the archeological museum, it completed the whole story of the Parthenon and having our guide take us through made it an unexpected highlight.Written September 16, 2024
- stevekW3102EB0 contributionsGreat Acropolis Walking TourBravo Angeliki! Great walking tour of Acropolis. Essential to have a guide so you understand what you are seeing. Our guide added just the right amount of background and context, but did not drone on with a history lesson.Written September 15, 2024

We were very lucky to have found Faye Georgiou for a private tour of the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum. The 4 hours with Faye was a master class offered in the most entertaining and enjoyable way. Following a cruise we found ourselves with only half a day and an evening in Athens. We clearly made the most of our time thanks to Faye. Faye has impeccable credentials and has a true passion for her work. She made us feel special and could not be more helpful. We will definitely return to Athens and engage Faye for additional sightseeing.

This was an excellent guided tour. Operators were at the meeting place with ample time to check everyone in. The listening devices (whispers) allow for everyone to listen to the tour guide with ease and without needing to crowd. Our tour guide, Katia Koul was excellent, bringing the ruins to life with the narration in excellent English and hear wealth of knowledge. The pace of the tour is a comfortable one, with time to ask questions without getting too distracted. I recommend doing the Agora also, for a full view of this important spot in history.

This was a great tour. The guide made it come alive. Magda Kareli was her name. She had enormous passion and very deep knowledge of the link between the mythology and the culture. She connected all the dots. She related directly to every one of our 16 very different participants. She was really hands-on and shepherded us through the crowds into the right places. I have walked the same ground without a guide. It’s like walking around in the dark. Magda really turned on the lights! I’m so glad I went with them. It was a great value.

My sister and I had the most wonderful experience on the acropolis and museum walking tour with Artemis Olympidou. We learnt SO much, it would have been an entirely different experience going on our own. I would say it’s a necessity going with a tour guide. Artemis was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about Greek culture and history, and made the tour so much fun. 100% recommend!

The Acropolis is the most famous but not well preserved. Plus you cannot get up close. The better preserved similar temple is in the Ancient Agora within walking distance of the Acropolis in the Ancient Agora complex where you get really close to the structure and it is remarkably well preserved.
