    Worth it!
This tour was such an amazing experience to have as a solo traveler. It was small group, so you got to know the other members and Antigoni our guide was so lovely and informative about the food and Athens! We learned so much, saw so much of the city and ate delicious food.

A great tour away from the tourist madness!
A great alternative tour away from the crowds showing aspects of the city we wouldn't have found by ourselves. Our guide Elena was very informative answering all our questions and queries. 10/10!

    A definite must
We had a great day with Joseph who not only showed us the different food options but also explained Greek history and discussed modern day Athens. It was fascinating and our family really enjoyed it. Definitely worth doing.

Amazing food tour with lots of yummy food!
This was by far the best food tour we’ve been on! Mary Kate was an amazing guide!!! Soooo much food! We did a 10 am tour (didn’t eat breakfast beforehand thankfully!) and ate so much food. The portions were amazing and she was knowledgeable in regards to the history and culture of the city/country. Had a such a great time!

    Fantastic neighborhood walking tour!
what a refreshingly different type of tour! Our guide was a long time Athens resident who led us through 6 unique neighborhoods. She had in depth knowledge of each charming locale's history and how the neighborhoods have either changed or remained the same over time. A highlight was stopping for a coffee in the anarchist neighborhood and hearing the story of how the residents protested against the building of a parking lot in favor of creating a park.

    Fantastic!
Nikos was an amazing tour guide and the food was fabulous! We had a great afternoon eating our way through Athens at hidden gems that only a local would know as we learned about the architecture and history of the area. Highly recommend!

A tour of Athens on a very hot day
During the very hot days of summer we took the Alternative Athens tour. What a lovely experience! I am over 70 years old and was accompanied by my daughter who has a disability. Our tour guide, Antigone, slowed down the pace of the tour to suit our needs and found a charming coffee shop when we requested a break. While there, she reviewed the tour and asked what would be the best way to proceed because of our abilities. We learned so much about local history and about life in Athens. At the end of the tour she wanted to take us to our hotel, but we preferred to stay in the center of Athens for a bite to eat. So Antigone escorted us to a local restaurant and, because my daughter has special dietary needs, she stayed to help us order. She remained with us beyond the required tour time to make sure we were settled. We so enjoyed our tour and Antigone was a delightful guide with so much knowledge to share. She went beyond her required guide duties to make sure that we had a successful morning. And we most certainly did! Thank you, Antigone!

    Loved our Food Tour!
Thoroughly enjoyed our food tour! Easy walking pace, plenty of time to sample, and loved the information on the neighborhoods and history of each item we sampled. Highly recommended for a few hours of relaxed pace fun and sampling. Antigoni was a great guide, had lot's of great knowledge and answered questions when we had them.

    The best of Athens!
I was traveling to Athens on a family trip with my mother, sister, and my partner. To celebrate his birthday, we booked a private version of the City Streets and Great Eats tour. It was incredible! We were lucky enough to have Andreas as our guide. Because it was a private tour and we were staying right in the heart of the Plaka, he met us at our hotel. It could not have been more convenient. We then had five hours of walking, seeing, learning, laughing, eating, and drinking. It was the highlight of our time in Athens. We all learned so much, discovered areas to return to for the rest of the week, and got a feel for the city. Andreas was a kind, gracious, and knowledgeable guide, the best we had in our two weeks in Greece. I absolutely recommend this company, this tour, and of course, our guide Andreas. Thank you!!

    Niko provided amazing food tour!
The food tour with guide Niko was amazing! Niko was very knowledgeable and shared a nice balance of history and how it related to the cross cultural influences on the local cuisine. For our family of 4 (2 teenagers), everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience! Nikos also went the extra and kindly followed up with some local restaurant/bars and recipes. Well worth going to get a touch local flavour!!

    Great experience!
This was such a great experience. Dean was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and good fun. As others have said, this tour really brings the Olympics to life and the activities are held in the spirit of the Olympics - ie it doesn’t matter who wins, it’s the taking part! The stadium is incredible and although you can take photos from outside, nothing beats being in there and running on the track as thousands of others have done before. Probably our favourite trip in Athens

Our guide was very uninspired and boring, like reading a textbook. It was quite boring. Could get the same experience by going with a guide book.

They also forced us to buy the museum pass even though the pass was 30 euro and all the regular entries was half off right now. We could have saved over 10 euros per person but they forced us to buy the full price combination ticket saying we could use it for all the other attractions. It was mostly because they didn't want to wait for us to buy tickets at every stop.

I would not recommend.

This was a great time. Michail was a fantastic guide and made the whole experience great. It’s 30 euros for a package entrance to go to 8 places (the tour only does 3 but the tickets are good for 4 days). A bit of walking between places and the acropolis is up high. The tour guide does a good job stopping and looking for shade/seating. It is a bit hard getting up but it’s worth it and we did move pretty slowly. There was one about 90 yo lady with a walking cane who made it up; slowly but she did. I would recommend shoes with good grip because some of the stones are marble so they are slippery. BRING A WATER BOTTLE. There are fountains at each stop to fill up and you will need it. There are also WCs at the first 2 stops (not sure about the last).

The mythological tour was fascinating and engaging. Our guide was passionate and a phenomenal storyteller. His tone and enthusiasm made the early morning tour feel effortless as we struggled to wake up prior. We got to see all the main attractions and received a great explanation of all the myths that went along with the sites. You do not need any prior knowledge of Greek mythology to understand the tour and you will go home with a plethora of knowledge as well as a sense of adventure. Great experience!

Michalis was an excellent and very informative guide for our Acropolis tour. He was clear and concise and ensured everyone was able to hear him and feel engaged. He paced our tour so nobody felt rushed or couldn’t keep up. He provided us with such interesting mythological history and stories to really make our tour come alive. I would recommend this tour. Please know you will be expected to pay an additional 30 Euros for entrance fees, but the combination ticket will let you visit a number of historical sites over a number of days. I thought $100 CDN was pricey, then with the additional entrance fees. But we took a chance and feel very satisfied with what we experienced and learned that day.

I booked this tour especially for my teens because they love mythology. This was their favorite, a very interactive walking tour with our tour guide Alex who was beyond knowledgeable and gave us an up-close experience and insight to the stories we love and the places we visited. I highly recommend this tour if you want to know more about Mythology or you already know some and want to relate the stories to their times and places. In addition, I would recommend the museum on a different day before or after the tour.

MUST DO in Athens. Wholeheartedly recommended. Don't think about it, just book it! Exceptional tour experience. The tour guide (Michalis, you’re amazing!!!) played a significant role in making the trip memorable.

The itinerary covered all the must-see attractions in Athens, including iconic historical sites such as the Acropolis, the Parthenon, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, and the Ancient Agora of Athens. The tour guide was very thoughtful in stopping at shade spots to shelter us from the blazing July sun and also ensured that we had ample time to explore each location, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the rich history and culture of Athens.

The guide's knowledge and passion for the city were truly commendable. Their expertise in Greek history and mythology was extensive, and they brought the stories behind each site to life (captivating story-telling). Their explanations were clear, engaging, and filled with fascinating details that made the tour both educational and entertaining. I genuinely appreciated their ability to make ancient history relatable and relevant to our modern lives. Knowledge bombs were dropped and enjoyable learning took place!

Furthermore, the guide's enthusiasm and genuine love for Athens were contagious. Their pride in their city was palpable, and it made the entire experience even more enjoyable. They went above and beyond to ensure that everyone in the group felt included and engaged, answering questions with patience and enthusiasm. Their warm and friendly demeanour created a welcoming atmosphere, making it easy to approach them with any inquiries or curiosities.

Additionally, the guide's organisational skills were exemplary. They managed the group efficiently, keeping everyone informed and ensuring that we stayed on schedule without feeling rushed. Their attention to detail was evident in the seamless transitions between different locations and their ability to navigate the city effortlessly.

I booked this tour based on ratings and the sites I wanted to see while in Athens. Unfortunately, my tour guide was very boring and spoke in a monotone voice. Note that there is an additional fee of 30 Euros to see all of the sites included with the tour. This ticket is a combo pass that can also be completed over 5 days in Athens. There were 4 groups of tour guides at the time I booked, and unfortunately I was matched with a tour guide who chose to start the tour next to a loud, busy road with buses and trains, as well as cars driving by. It was very hard for me to hear 50% of what he was saying in a group of 15 people. After 30 minutes, I decided to do the tour on my own. I wrote the vender and didn't hear anything back from them. I would recommend booking a different tour. While I was at the Acropolis, I heard a lot of other tour guides, who were much more interesting to listen to. I have booked a lot of tours on Trip Advisor (see my other reviews) and this was by far, the worst, most boring one!

One of the best tours I have ever been on ( and I have been on many), Our guide Anastasia was super engaging and enthusiastic. She retold many mythology stories with that “storyteller voice” that kept everyone including two children engaged. She took her time at every site and made sure we hit up everything on the itinerary. The two children on the tour including my daughter (aged 11) knew a lot of mythology- and she integrated their ideas into the tour. She also took many family photos for us. Two week vacation and this was likely my favorite day and this tour was the reason. Thank you!

Alex was a great tour guide, able to provide us with plenty of information without dragging on and getting boring. In fact, the weather was snowy/windy/rainy, yet Alex's positive attitude helped us all have a pleasant experience in spite of the cold. The tour was well-paced, with enough time for pictures but not enough time to stand around and feel like we were wasting time. Once you arrive at the meeting place, you'll have a chance to purchase your combo ticket for 30 euros that will give you access to the historical sites visited during the tour (as well as a couple of others that we were able to visit the next day in our own time). Overall great value for the money and an excellent way to hit a bunch of highlights of the city in a simple yet informative way!

Despite a hot and humid day, Kostas did a wonderful job of bringing Athens to life with a mix of facts and stories from mythology - and he was great at finding shady spots to sit along the way!

We spent most of our time at the Acropolis and got far more information than if we had done a self-guided tour. Some of the walking at the Acropolis is quite slippery due to people walking on the stone path for thousands of years. They recently paved an area at the top that makes walking much easier than it was if you have visited previously. Kostas told various stories throughout the tour and ended with the familiar tale about Theseus and the Minotaur. After telling the story, he took another look and tweaked out the grains of truth. Sort of like reading a story in a tabloid. Who knows, maybe the stories are true with just a bit of embellishment!

We also visited the temples of Zeus, Hephaestus, and the Agora, with time to explore a bit on our own and take pictures. Also, there were a couple of spots available to refill a water bottle, definitely at the Temple of Zeus and the Acropolis, and the water was good. The tour was easy to find and ended near lots of restaurants - a great place to get an ice cream and marvel at this wonderful, ancient city!
